Good service

I absolutely loved the staff at this hotel. My AC wasn’t working in my first room on arrival, but they changed my room and gave me an upgraded room/suite. Things may not always go right, but they corrected it immediately. I look out for these little things. Thanks to the entire team here.

Short stop in Gaborone

A nice hotel, and seemed like a good location. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very good. This hotel has a very nice gym and rooftop pool & bar. However, the room could do with some modernisation and certainly some maintenance. The fitures in the bathroom were all loose; the shower was not great and the shower door did nothing to stop the bathroom floor from getting soaked. The AC unit seemed to be occasionally spewing bits of dirt out and then stopped during the night, making the room unbearably hot. Some of the plugs didnt work, and wwee a bit old-fashioned- i would expext a hotel of this supposed quality to have USB charging sockets. If we'd been staying longer I would definitely have asked to move rooms. It is a pity the condition was so run down as the rest of the hotel seemed nice and the staff were very welcoming.

The hotel is not well maintained. Walls are dirty and fixtures old and tired. The couch on the tv room was dirty and worn out. Service very slow. You order room service food they bring food in two hours. We didn’t have bath towels and requested these the whole morning

Great check in and excellent staff

The hotel is old and under disrepair. My shower head snapped off and sprayed my Afro with a gush of water. The restaurants are hot and it seems like they don’t have a solution for the heat! The facility has very loud parties. Obnoxiously loud events lasting until late

Good stay

This was my second time staying at Protea. It's a very clean and nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet at night for some good rest. The only issue I had was with the breakfast. I told the staff person I would pay at checkout and within five minutes of me getting to my room she's calling me saying the system was down and if she could come and collect the payment at that time. I thought that was in poor taste because I still could've paid at checkout some four hours later. When I asked at the front desk if the systems were back up the person looked at me surprised and said oh yes, and I asked how long were they down, and she said oh just like an hour. I just don't believe that whole story. I think the lady at the breakfast area, wanted to get the payment thinking I would skip out on the bill, even though she asked me if I wanted to pay later. Anyway, I thought the whole thing was in poor taste, including waiting outside my room to make sure the payment went through. Overall it was a good one night stay.

Excellent Stay

I had an excellent stay at Protea hotel. It was very comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast in the morning was very good. The room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. It was quiet at night so I was able to get some great sleep. The whole staff were awesome, extremely helpful and courteous.

Decent hotel, but very hard to contact if you need to make a reservation or get in touch with them for any reason.

Negligence.

The rooms looks tired. The furniture in the room is worn out. Was informed to let the water run from the tap for 10 minutes before you can get hot water. What a waste of water. The one lift floor selection button was not functioning. I have stayed here a few times.

the stay was great , I was there for three days and on the second day the cleaner forgot to put towels in my room

I had to change rooms three times because of poor maintenance, air conditioner not working, mirror broken, shower leaking, missing curtain letting light in etc. Floor was never wiped in a week. Soap and coffee not replenished unless I asked.

Great place !! Staff are cool And nice… very helpful. Also I would recommend ordering the T bone steak from room service!!!

Wow, reception, cleaning service

Phone in the room wasn't working properly. Cleaners forgot to clean the room and after calling reception about it, were very slow to respond Room cleaned on a different occasion and no towels on 2 occasions After staying for six days, was in a hurry for all these flaws to end

In need of some maintenance

The hotel is very central, check in and transfers to and from the airport was well done. However the condition of the rooms are not up to par for a 4 star hotel. One room had no hot water for the 3 nights and in the other room the shower door and the toilet seat was broken. This was not repaired or resolved in the time we stayed there.

Getting long in the tooth.

The property is starting to show a lot of age and neglect. Carpets worn, mildew in tub area. No walk in shower. No health club. Recognizing that there is some Covid issues other hotels are doing a much better job. Value is just not there.

Convenient location in Gaborone.

Not enough towels were in the room. Room service came with another set. The TVs had a funky way of working--two remote controls were required. There were no written instructions. An engineer had to come and rework the tv system. Also no written instruction of how to contact reception--we had to call room service to get the number.

This hotel is not if the best. We booked two adjacent rooms got them miles apart. Breakfast was a mess as well. Will not recommend them as everything seemed to be falling apart

Wonderful place to stay

Ideally located in the centre of the CBD and choice of restaurants and bars in the square behind the hotel. Pool bar on the third floor serves one of the best gin and tonics you will ever have and the fillet steak in the restaurant is sublime! All staff friendly and helpful.

I was so disappointed with the staff who stole the chocolates and food for my kids I left in the fridge.They claimed the box was empty and removed it from the fridge and threw it away.I was so highly disappointed and in all honesty I don’t recommend anyone to book in Mass Square Hotel as the cleaners are thieves. Also as much as the case was reported, I left that hotel angry as they couldn’t even resolve my issue.I will Never book there again. Thank you

All in all a good hotel close to everything. A good bar and restaurant on the premises and if you need something they will take care of you. I highly recommend the Club room unless you are by yourself.

Love the location and friendly staff when you engage. They're there when you need them for the most part, but a few wrinkles needs to be ironed out to get to the level they want to be. I will always stay in this hotel when Im in town, summer months I suppose the lobby can get a little warm, but not sure what can be done about that. Otherwise the room, especially the Club Rooms feel very spacious and comfortable, like home away from home.

The Wifi connection was very bad. If you want to do business on line is a big problem they just the reception employees just tell you Wifi is on and off and most 95% of the time it was off in their dininig room, at the suite 99.99% off of the time.

Excellent hotel. Friendly and very helpful staff. They upgraded me to a bigger room without even asking for it. However, the WiFi leaves a lot to be desired - it’s unstable, unreliable, and very slow.

The locations was as expected, the amenities were as expected, the problems that I experienced were in my view down to poor hotel management and communication.

Amazing experience! Really kind staff, and organize.

Staff could have been more friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They seemed to just be doing the basics of the job but nothing extra. I was traveling with my sister and whengot to room with two twin beds there was only one set of towels. We asked for a second set. No one came for more than 3 hours so we called a second time and they brought the towels 30 mins later. This is unacceptable They also need USB ports in the rooms for electronics if this is suppose to be a business hotel

The rooms were very comfortable and tje overall property was excellent. They had a huge breakfast buffet thst included made to order eggs.

Staying at this hotel for a few years during my business trips. It seems every year, they got worse. They even run out of key cards and won't issue additional keys if you ask for, saying we dont have enough! Towels are getting old and darker than they should be and they only leave 1 set of the towel, with no wash clothes. Next time, I will look at other hotels in the area!

Carpet

The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Only if the hotel can get rid of the carpet, everything will be perfect. We were booked in no. 217, the carpet was smelling. We asked to be changed, we got room no.117, was better, but the carpet is no longer clean. The chef is doing a great job.

Location is excellent, ambience is great! Parking is a bit tight, but doable. One of the elevators was constantly down.

Modern and clean hotel

My stay at Masa was for business. The room I booked was spacious and ideal for my work needs. Location is within the new CBD in Gaborone so very accessible. There is a vibrant central square within the mall that has several restaurants and is popular with locals. Get a room facing away from this square!

Could be better

The hotel carperts have a funky/stuffy smell. I didn't like the shower bath (and it wasn't working properly). The TV remote was not working, it could only do on and off.

the service is very very poor . i asked towel but its not coming more than 55 minuts and they are saying we dont have towel anymore.

Great hotel, great service

I always enjoy this hotel, excellent staff and very friendly service, it is the best in Gaborone, but they have lately decided to only give one towel per guest, or maybe it only happened to me, but I have to add, when I asked foe another it was brought promptly.

Modern hotel located in a soulless business district in Gaborone. Actually the city has very few to offer for a tourist. The hotel has a helpful staff, offers a good buffet breakfast and a fast internet connection and free transfer to and from the airport. The problem is when one get a room facing the interior Masa Center (like number 732 ); the noise provoked by the patrons and the loud music on the venues ( eateries, bars...) at the Masa Square is deafening. Around 11:00PM we changed the room, to escape from the mess that was happening at a place called Cappello's.

Always a god place to stay in Gaborone, comfortable and friendly and centrally located, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast generous.

A business venue with a relaxed atmosphere.

I was in Gaborone for a business presentation at the Mass Media Complex - this hotel is ideally situated for access to this venue as well as central Gaborone. Quick to get to from the hotel and an efficient shuttle service made it an easy trip. Parking is easy for guests.

Close to amenities

First experience for me obviously and quite impressed. However I found price quite steep and misleading. Gets advertised in BWP which becomes USD when you book then AUD (my card currency) during payment...I had to take it but that wasnt good. Positives: Though not many channels, I had what I wanted...my CNN + premier Sports Lots of variety to choose from during breakfast and food looked fresh though I picked a virus - I'd still go back for it though ;) Parking - staff activated my card for 2 days. That was nice. I never got a chance to use pool and bar but generally facilities are good and presentably sparkly Last but not least WIFI worked. Extra * Negatives: Not much views outside Could hear some noise at night from nearby night clubs No stand alone shower...personal pref though In summary: 4+ stars

Excellent service and excellent accommodation

Fantastic hotel and fantastic staff with excellent customer service. Really enjoyed my stay. It’s the second time I have had business partners stay there. This time I joined them and will continue to book partners there based on the the three stays we have had there and being an international company that means a lot that we can have quality accommodation and at an affordable price.

Most ok but need to check, repair and maintenance

Not intend to fix appliance even informed. A light at lamp head bed did not work, i put a note but not get fixed until I checked out later 5 nights. Unfortunately got the room with leakage at window glass which heavy and serious made carpet along side wet 2-3 days, not able to stand or walk into the chair to get dryer which was put there. However, if not count above problem, services/cleanliness/breakfast are okay.

Everything was great. Plan to make the Masa Square my default hotel for all future trips to Gaborone.

Room was very clean, air conditioning worked perfect without noise, and breakfast was very impressive.

Great Place to Sleep

I stayed 19 days on business. I became sick with the flu the first night. Between meetings I slept as much as 16 hours in a 24 hour period. I found the bed exceedingly comfortable. The staff were very helpful. They even called the ambulance that took me to the hospital for blood tests and examination. I would highly recommend the hotel mainly for its staff.

Good hotel located in the new center of Gaborone.

So many travelers back and forth in this hotel that sometimes feel uncomfortable to check in. Especially for this stay i had a choice but to wait for 4 hours further to check in with reason that the room is not ready yet after 20 hours long flight from Korea.

My Last Terrible Visit at Masa Square Hotel

I will never stay again in Masa Square Hotel - the service is terrible, the worst I have ever had, especially from the receptionists. The attitude is to say "no" for any small request - if you forget you key in the room and you ask for an additional key, you will be asked to go upstairs to your room with the guard and they will tell you that since they have a new policy, you're not allowed to receive a new key; if you don't completely finish you bottle of water or the shower gel until the morning, the room service will not give you new ones; when you ask for late checkout (to 1pm instead of 12pm), they will tell you that the hotel is fully occupied so you can stay until 12:30pm. And there are many many more examples. In addition, During 2 of the 5 nights I couldn't sleep - an alarm was working and they didn't know the reason (I have the recording, believe me that it was terrible), and the pool bar was noisy during the nights. However, if you do stay there, be careful from 2 things: 1. Do not take the standard room - it's tiny and not clean 2. Do not accept to take the 3rd floor - the pool bar is open during the nights and the whole floor is extremely noisy (especially in weekends).

UPGRADE

I was booked for a standard room but to my surprise and just randomly, I had a knock on my door one afternoon after day 1 of my total 11 days of stay or so to be told I was being given a self catering suit all to myself. This was such a lovely gesture and I thank the management for such hospitality. I have since recommended my colleagues to the same and they have not been disappointed even though they didn't get my kind of upgrade (hehehe). I shall certainly head back to this hotel because they have good of just about everything...from the hotel rooms to the wonderful breakfast where you run out of options. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Gaborone anytime soon.
