Not bad for the price!
This property is a bit long in the tooth. Needs some freshening up. Breakfast buffet was extensive, but not very good. The items that were supposed to be hot, such as eggs and shakshuka, never were. That was a disappointment. Coffee and juice were good.
Had a lovely time. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It was clean . Breakfast was ok pleasant enough. Excellent location easy to walk and get public transport
Well maintained hotel. Good service and clean rooms. Meals were pretty good also.
Shabbat was beautiful we had a nice quorum and the good was tasty very nice wait staff!!!
Great experience
The Prima Royale staff was amazing!they were very helpful and met all my needs for the day I was there. I would definitely stay there again.
Front desk staff so nice and accommodating. Able to check me in to my room at 10am, rather than 3pm. Comfortable, clean room.
Everything about this hotel was really excellent. It is not a luxurious hotel, but if you are looking for a nice clean, well maintained and very centrally located hotel, this is the best choice in Jerusalem.
Tasteless, dull, unappetizing breakfasts. Everything tasted third rate.
Convenient location
Very good location, clean and comfortable stay. Shabbos food was good and breakfast is excellent.
Great hotel in central location and great value at £93 / night for Jersualem.
Nice location!
nice hotel in a good location
nice hotel in a good location
Comfort and Convenience
We had a great stay at the Prima Royale. THe staff let us check in early despite a very early arrival. The breakfast buffet is excellent. And the staff could not have been more friendly-- they even opened the rooftop garden for us on an especially balmy day, even though it was closed for the winter. We were within easy walking distance of many important tourist areas, including the Jaffa Gate to the Old City. Excellent value for our trip!
Hotel staff very helpful …especially Munir!
I was appreciative that they gave me a complimentary 8 PM checkout, allowing me access to the room for a shower and for charging my phone and computer in advance of a late-night return flight.
Another good stay
Have stayed here before, no surprises. Perfectly decent hotel, good staff. Pretty basic, especially by US standards. Rooms on the small side (again, by US standards). Very reasonable price, and excellent location. Would stay again
Excellent location and service.
Great location for our trip to Jerusalem.
the service and management were wonderful and accommodating. the hotel is in significant need of renovation.
Great location, good staff, reasonable price. Room suited my needs, not too fancy or large. Door to my room didn't lock, also TV didn't work. I paid for the breakfast, it was good but not as good as in other hotels. Only $9/day.
Excellent quiet place. Near to old city. Kind service.
I forgot my pills at home. The hotel arranged for a doctor to bring them to me within 3 hours.
We liked the location. Nice hotel. We enjoyed using the gym in the morning. Nice neighborhood. We enjoyed taking walks. We were glad that parking is available in the underground garage.
My second time staying in the hotel, this time was more enjoyable. My room was a refurbished and very comfortable. The hotel in general was at a good standard. The meals were affordable and of a good standard. Public transport is close by, enabling the ability to get around quickly. Walking to Mamilla is about 10 min and 20-30 min to the Old city. The hotel is very good value for money. I would definitely stay there again.
Terrible beds and thin walls.
Well located, very nice but not superior hotel. Clean, simple, adequate rooms. Excellent breakfasts. Friendly and helpful front desk. Would stay again. Decent value.
A comfortable small hotel.
The location is prime. The hotel itself is a nice simple property.Rooms are cozy and simple.
We had an amazing stay! The staff was so friendly and helpful to accommodate us.
The guy at the reception was just cold and lacked any customer skills. He was also rude to another guest when he tried to intervene in our conversation. He did accommodate the kids stay for an additional nominal fee but I’m not used to this attitude. One of the food managers seemed nice. Breakfast had good options. The room was really small and the bathroom shower was controlled only by liners. Not 4 star in my opinion and will never vouch for the stay not service here.
Nice location. Average service. Nice boutique hotel
very clean and very accomdated
The staff was amazing. The breakfast so very delicious. And Aleia at the ground was extra helpful and nice. The room was very clean and comfortable. And the area was so beautiful. We loved staying here and can not recommend them enough.
Go someplace else.
We have stayed at this location in the past and the last time was disappointing - however, we hoped that the management would do something based on their responses to us. They did nothing. the mattresses should have been replaced a few years ago - it was difficult, if not near impossible to fall asleep and was most assuredly not a restful night. The air conditioning was set at arctic levels. The thermostat seems to be just a decoration on the wall. You an control the fan speed and the on-off switch but the temperature dial does nothing. It was uncomfortably frigid such that we ended up turning the AC off completely. That was an improvement - but since all the other rooms are probably in the same situation, it was still cold such that in August we had to ask for extra blankets!! We have gold level membership with Hotels.com -- this gives us an upgrade and some other perks -- the receptionist insisted that the room we got was an upgrade because it is on a higher floor. I did not feel that there was any upgrade - the room is still small with an insufficient number of outlets and the furniture is shabby. We were supposed to receive a bottle of wine. The hotel decided that a small fruit plate was a better choice -- not in my mind. The staff was pleasant but clearly the management wants to drain this property and avoid repairs, improvements and needed maintenance. We will not be giving them another chance and will suggest that everyone else stays away too.
Quite a dated property, the photos on Expedia are certainly very polished. I had ants in my room and discovered the Mezezuah was missing from my door. It took the staff a couple of days to move me to a better room. Otherwise, the property had all the amenities I was seeking, albeit at an entry level standard.
Friendly people but very dirty
Hotel has incredibly friendly and helpful staff the lobby area is well kept. Once in the room, you will notice poor housekeeping. I was left with dirty towels and linens from my first day and continued to receive dirty linens each day after. The hotel is in a nice location with friendly staff but it needs to be cleaned up.
The place was underwhelming. Felt old, dingy, and not kept up. The room itself was small, and did not feel fresh adn clean.
Nice place mostly locals where at the hotel.
Rooms are ok, food is terriblr
Ut was short and fair but the food for breakfast was terrible: dry bread, the salads weren’t fresh, no assortment.
Good location. Bad service. Bad breakfast.
no double beds- only two single
Overall, It's a nice hotel, a little old, but nice due, and close to the cinematheque (We Were there a lot cause of the film festival). The main problem we had is that we orded a room with double bed and we got two single beds that was held together in a sheet that was supposed to unite them, but we still felt the line that separates the beds we suffer from back problems so it wasn't good for our health... They tried to help us, and to give us a diffrent room but the other rooms had the same problems: all of them had only two single beds.
Not as comfortable as in the past
Having stayed here before we were sure we knew what to expect. Check in was prompt and okay -- we have Gold level at Hotels.com and the hotel had already upgraded our room. Cleanliness was okay, but nothing special. Current regulations require the hotel to insure that all guests have a "green" passport for Covid - either vaccinated, recovered or recently tested negative. We were never asked to show this documentation. There was no visible attempt to make sure that everyone in public spaces was masked. We were supposed to receive a complimentary bottle of wine -- it took two trips to the reception desk to get that to happen. Sadly, the two biggest problems were the bed which was so uncomfortable as to seriously affect our sleep -- I felt like I was sleeping on a sheet of plywood. And the AC could not be controlled. There is a thermostat in the room but I am convinced that it is there only for show. No matter what temp we set it for - it blew at a frigid level. So that we either had an arctic blast or no AC at all. These two issues will force us to consider future plans and look for someplace else in Jerusalem for the next time. Additionally as a tourism professional, I will have to reconsider future recommendations.
Enjoyed very much!. Would have liked to receive every night the chocolates that were there upon arrival.:-) When arriving really late there was no more parking so we had to hunt for parking outside, Food was very good and had a wide variety
Nice family vacation in Prima Royal Hotel
The location of the hotel is excellent. We liked our breakfasts. The hotel was clean and nice.
Low key , comfortable and elegant hotel in fabulous location. Would stay there again.
This is a nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood. The staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is very good and generous. The rooms are clean, but somewhat small and crowded. In addition, the hotel advertises free parking, but in reality, they have limited space and do not always have parking. This is misleading.
Good value for money plus good location and frindly people.
The rooms are tiny and the walls are paper thin. Also the front desk kept pestering me about noise when I wasnt there half the time and the rest I was sleeping. Not a good time at this place.
Shocking service. No staff supervision by senior management. Room was filthy. Urgent need of renovation.
Every morning the person at the desk insisted we ate dinner the night before and tried to charge me. Both nights I had not eaten there.
It was our first time to Israel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Prima Royale. We had a junior suite on the 7th floor and a beautiful view of Jerusalem. Vegetarian options were limited to mainly salad and grilled vegetables, however we enjoyed our breakfast and dinner.
The hotel location is great. At my arrival room was clean but during my stay the service was poor... breakfast was great... different options.. front desk staff was very friendly but security people was rude and always in the personal cellphone.
Fantastic
Great, comfortable, outstanding breakfast
The Prima Royale is a very nice hotel and serves an excellent breakfast. The WiFi could be better. The hotel has a nice exercise room. It is within walking distance to the Old City and downtown Jerusalem. The staff is very helpful and helped us with transportation to the airport. There are private tour operators hanging around with whom you can make arrangements for tours.
Very good hotel close to old city
Very good place to stay. Convent to Jaffa Gate and old city, good restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful. Called tour guide when couldn’t answer my questions. Arranged cab to Tel Aviv. Didn’t eat there so cannot comment on food.
Awesome Hotel in Jerusalem.
Always an awesome time at the Prima Royal. The staff bend over backwards to make it the best holiday experience. The staff are like family now- this is our 3rd. holiday here and hopefully many more.
Carpet not clean. Ned’s replacement. Staff unfriendly.
Quite Street in a busy city. We loved the servoce we received from the staff. The receptionist was very courteous. The room was clean, there was a clean gym and place to pray. Overall love the hotel.
Comfortable and well located.
The room was very clean and reasonably comfortable - the furniture is quite well worn and you can see chips and nicks in the wood, some peeling plaster around the windows, etc. -- needs to be re-vamped. The biggest problem was the airconditioning - it was impossible to set it at a comfortable temperature - it was either not cool or it was freezing and so we had frigid temps in the room all night which even the blanket wasn't enough for. The beds were okay but rather small. An extra blanket in the closet would have been much more useful than an array of pillows. Parking is on a space available basis - and we got there early enough to get parking in the underground garage but whoever designed that garage was just not thinking - the access is very tight - it is almost impossible to maneuver both to get in and to get out - we took the first parking spot and it took almost five minutes of back and forth inching our way to get out of the spot in order to then leave. I have no problem returning to this property but I will park on the street - the garage is just not worth the effort.
Great location, small rooms, small and cozy hotel
Nice and small hotel in great location. Small rooms so barely any room for and extra kid bed.
We have stayed before and liked the property. The location is great
A good condition average hotel
This hotel is in a pretty good condition. It is similar to Courtyard Marriott hotel. I am basically satisfy with the service. However, I am not 100% satisfy about the cleanliness of the room. I stay here for a week. I can spot spot water stains from drinking glasses. I can also spot debris from carpet. I am wondering how often this carpet been vacuum in my stay..
Too expensive for the kind of rooms
There is no parking and not easy transportation.
Good very niceplace and food is tasty and good music
The attentiveness of many staff was lacking as was service with a smile. Only a few staff went out of their way to ensure you were made to feel welcome and that they actually wanted you there. A smile can also go a long way. Food/breakfast was a little lacklustre and there didn't seem to be any set-up to keep the food warm. Rooms were okay but overpriced for the size of them. Location was good and a 15 minute walk to the Old City which I suppose accounts for the cost.
Great Bang for your Buck
You really can't beat the bang for your buck. It may be a relatively unassuming hotel, but the staff was great and quite friendly, and made sure that I had everything my family needed for a nice stay. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
Clean and comfortable. Perfect for my family's stay.
prima royale - enjoyable stay
very happy with the hotel - helpful and courteous staff !
Not satisfactory for a 4 star hotel
Location is ideal, only about 15 mins walk to the old town. However, apart from this I would not recommend based on the price paid and being a 4 star. Half of the staff are not friendly and completely unattentive, and not helpful. The hotel has a serious problem with lack of sound proofing in the rooms, I was there 3 nights and was awoken every night. There was banging and drilling during the day as well, and no prior notice. And lastly I paid for a deluxe room, but what I got was very basic to be honest. I did query this, and was told there isn't much difference between the standard and deluxe rooms, main difference is the deluxe rooms are on higher floors. Housekeeping was fairly poor as well, items not properly stocked after cleaning, and parts of the room weren't that clean. Overall it was adequate, but I wouldn't recommend this for paying over nearly £170 a night. Oh, and the breakfast wasn't great either.
Wifi internet barely worked. Room was adequate but outdated, old and tiny. Our room was located directly across from the first floor elevator...noisy at all hours.
Clean, well looked after, helpful staff, dinning room restaurant was useful.
Nice garden with complimentary refreshments. Rooms are very small. Staff are wonderful
Avoid the Prima Royale!
The Prima Royale is a 50 year-old hotel, 60 years overdue for a makeover. Fortunately, they were remodeling when I was there - In the room right above me. I asked the manager about it that evening, and he said it wouldn't happen the next day. No kidding! It was Shabbat, so no one's working, but they were hard at it by 7 AM the next day. Management was unapologetic, but I'd imagine they get sorry for apologizing for a hotel that frankly, smells like a dirty ashtray with service that's reflective of a place where people just don't give a crap. The buffet is lackluster at best, and only slightly less crappy than the piano player belting out show tunes during your meal. And don't even think about communicating with the outside world, as the wifi only works from a 10 x 10 square foot spot in the lobby, and even if you do manage to find it, it doesn't work all that well. When you come and go, be sure to say hi to the surly front staff who begrudgingly open the door for you while barely looking over their phones. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable. So when your tour bus pulls up in front of this dump, tell them to keep going to the end of the block to the Dan Panorama. You'll be happy you did.
Overall perfect experience- were not so happy about noise from next door - but it was clean and excellent all across the board.
I have stayed several times over many years at the Prima royale. The current staff are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast and Friday night dinner were better than expected. The bed and pillows are comfortable, shower hot and powerful. But the rooms are very tired and definitely in need of refurbishment - terrible thin, hard old towels.
Pros: Location and Price Negative: Good Luck sleeping. We had to switch rooms at 1:00 am because you could literally hear everything in the next room, it felt as if the people were in your room. When we switched to the new room it smelt of weed and did not feel clean (I went to use a towel and a chunk of hair was stuck inside it - check the laundry before folding). Management promised to reimburse a large percentage of the cost for our inconvenience but I have yet to receive anything. The place needs an upgrade and feels like a hotel for large school groups on a budget.
Nice hotel good location friendly staff i recommabd this hotel
Prima Royale is an amazing hotel! The food is fantastic and affordable. The staff is friendly - once you make them giggle - and the rooms are great. My only complaint is that we were allergic to the blankets, pillows, and sheets so it was uncomfortable to sleep.
Great customer service Terick, Ben,Monir and Avía. Clean room and great rooftop to see Jerusalem. Definitely ask for the private tour with Charlie, very knowledgeable and the best way to spend your time in Israel. He provides a comfortable trip and a way to see more of Israel than taking the tour bus. Definitely would stay here again as it was close walking distance to Old Town and shopping.
Touring with family . Great breakfast. Comfortable clean room. Easy to get to the sites in The Old City. You can walk to shopping / dinner.
Average, cleanliness not up to scratch
For a hotel that advertises itself as "upmarket", it's very average. The roof terrace yes has nice views from one angle but the other is nothing special and the roof terrace is where all of the extractor fans for the entire hotel are placed. Room was also small and bathroom old and not totally clean with long black hairs everywhere. Coffee was not refreshed everyday. Cannot comment on spa or fitness facilities as j did not have time to use them but would not class this hotel as more than average at best.
Great location
Great location but I think the front desk staff could have been a bit friendlier. Also the shower leaked. Rooftop terrace really nice. All in all a good choice.
Nice hotel we really enjoyed our stay. Great location. Clean room and bathroom
enjoyable
Short stay.... ..enjoyed the hotel...very courteous,,helpful staff....great breakfast... Hotel needs refurbishing
This hotel is definitely overrated in Expedia. It is fairly old and run down and has not been updated. That goes for both the rooms and the public spaces. There is no way it should have its rating of 4.0. Mid 3s at best would be more appropriate.
Great time in Jerusalem
Mr Taha at the front desk was very helpful and we had a very pleasant stay. Great view from the rooftop.
Great but small hotel.
The hotel was wonderful. The rooms were small but to be expected. Great breakfast buffet. Parking is limited so leave time to move your car since other cars may have to be moved. Overall a great bargain for Jerusalem.
Old
It is expensive for the quality you expect to get. Old hotel. The bed of my kid broke twice. The room is really small. 1 km far from Jaffa gate, no bad.
Pleasant stay, no problems. Good food & location.
Great Breakfast... Slept like a teenager
First time in Jerusalem. Had an awesome time hotel made it great. Rooftop view breathtaking...
My time in Jerusalem
I loved being there. The beds and pillows were especially compfortable. Loved the walk in shower. Loved the roof top and spending time with the great view, always with a breeze even in the hot day. Loved the breakfast. Everyone was helpful and friendly. It is a great location, can walk to many places and restaurants.
"Good location, good service but very small rooms"
We were given a deluxe room and it had amost everything you wish for except space.
Very pleasant
Stayed for just one night. Hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Great location, lovely breakfast and room was clean and had everything you would need. My only criticisms would be that the bathroom, although very clean, is a little bit dated and the view from our room was nothing special. Overall a very pleasant stay and excellent value for money.
Good location
Good location. Clean. Friendly staff. The room is a little too small
Beautiful hotel nice, clean and close to the old city
Everything great, except there was no service after 22:00 pm
Liked it a lot
It's a charming hotel. Our room was rather small, especially since we added a rollaway bed. But it was ideal in almost every other respect. Maybe most important, it is walkable to everywhere we wanted to go in Jerusalem. The hotel breakfast was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooftop lounge is a gem.
Prima Royale summer 2017
I was satisfied. The breakfast was enhanced by the piano player. The location was convenient.

Always love staying here Great location great staff and great food
