The vibe was tropical, loved it there ! Clean ,and most of all we felt safe being in Johannesburg

I stayed at the Premier Hotel OR Tambo for a short layover, and it was a solid choice. The room wasn’t luxurious, but it was clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the restaurant, and the staff were professional and very friendly. Perfect for a quick stop near the airport.

Staff not very polite,Not very welcoming.Issues with both rooms,air con not working,rather then give us new rooms we had to have them change the air con machines.One room had bird nests in the ventilation for the air con which is why it did not work.After changing them the still never got cold.Wifi terrible and cut out every 2 min.Everything dated and an effort for staff.Restaurant food no better or breakfast,waited 10min for the toast to pop out only to be told that side of toaster does not work??? Would not return, far better hotels nearby.Worst one of our trip.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.

My room was under construction, evidently. The electrical panel door was off. The AC did not work. And when I went to the pool, it was dirty and unkept. It made me very sad because the rest of the hotel was beautiful And the staff was excellent.

As always, the staff is excellent! Friendly, professional and always helpful. The entire place is clean with nice furnishings; the restaurant has great food and a wonderful staff. The airport shuttle is dependable and the trip between the hotel and OR Tambo is only about 10 minutes. Overall, a great place for a stopover or to spend a few days.

I have been staying here for quite a few years and found it a very good value but they have raised their rates by a huge amount. I will go back to the Southern Sun. 20 years ago that was my hotel of choice

Adequate stay. Problem with booking

Hotels.com needs to verify with the hotel that my reservation was confirmed. On arrival to the hotel near midnight and exhausted from travel, I was told my hotels.com reservation was not confirmed from the hotel’s end. They fortunately rebooked me without any fees but come on you guys need to do better with double checking !!

The staff were nice, the property is clean, the rooms were large but the room service was poor (both food selection and quality), the AC did not work, the TV remote offered only 2 volumes (too quiet and too loud), the shower door was hard to open and close and our room key was deactivated every time we left the property.

Room is spacious but lights a bit dim and aircon very noisy. Waited ages for room service and food was cold and cheesecake was off. Booze very pricey. Nice bar and dining area. Small pool.

An aiport hotel serves a few functions, a comfortable bed for the night. And when they offer a free shuttle service it gets you to the airport on time. We needed the shuttle for 06.00. We asked to book it. No need for reservations we were told. Arrive 05.58, shuttle full, leaves us behind. I ask at the desk that immediately it returns a second journey is made to accommodate us in a timely manner. 06.18 shuttle returns. Driver refuses to make another journey until 06.30. I tell the desk you promised a quick run, he has time. The driver and desk chat, not in English. The shuttle departs at 06.32. We leave more people behind to await the 07.00 journey. Very poor service, it seems the driver runs the hotel not the other way around.

The room was large and comfortable. The food options were great. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I’d stay again.

Airport pick up was friendly and efficient. Check in was as well. The room is pleasant and comfortable.

Checked in to a very cold room, the room had a large old fashioned heater, this was turned on but no heating. Called reception to ask for help .... waited and waited ... called again waited and waited. I climbed into bed fully clothed to stay warm. ... called again and waited and waited. Last time I visited reception and pushed to the front of the Que demanding it be sorted or a fully refund.... A engineer Attended and started the heater but it was noisy and slow to warm up the room. The shower head had been placed at an angle into the corner of the shower making life difficult, when re positioned the water escaped through a gap in the door. The hotel is in need of professional staff and a refurb, but I guess the majority of staff were like me just staying a few hours between transit to/from airport.

Wonderful hotel. Very clean and newer. Quiet. Staff helped us find safe transportation to and from shopping. I highly recommend.

First room was not made up and second room had issues with the shower control falling apart.

Just needed an overnight in Johannesburg. The shuttle to the airport was very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ate dinner there, it was good.

My stay at premier hotel was great. They provide a free shuttle to the airport which makes it easy for you. The hotel staff was friendly and always ready to assist.

The staff were great and the hotel is conveniently located next to the airport. I loved the on site restaurant and buffet. However, the property is located in a very unsettling area and made staying at the facility uncomfortable.

Great rooms and prices.

It's perfect if you need to be close to the airport and great value for money compared to the other options.

Some drawbacks to the inhouse dining which is very good, but challenging in terms of room service. Any difficulties however are handled thoughtfully and quickly.

Poor toilet facilities. The cistern holds only about 1 litre of water that can hardly wash away waste. The shower cubicle door couldn't close requiring moping the floor after each shower

Excellent airport hotel. Reliable free shuttle service - very useful, and very close to airport. Clean, friendly staff, lovely common areas. Comfortable bed and good sized room. Good shower & bathroom. I don’t know whether they have recently refurbished the rooms we were in (5 people, 3 rooms) , because otherwise the negative reviews don’t make sense.

Convenient and safe and easy shuttle

The staff is outstanding and location excellent in terms of being very near the airport.

The staff was excellent. The facility was beautiful and clean. The food was outstanding. I understand the load shedding is beyond your control. But my room was completely without power. And even after the load shedding, my a/c didn't work all night. Definitely miserable.

Hotel was modern with a good infrastructure and food but the rooms were not that good. Dark, stuffy and hot with poor ac. We stayed twice and the second time had a suite with 2 ACs and one didn’t work. Plus South Africa has timed power outages and we lost power and even water for a couple hours. I guess their generator is not sufficient. Shuttle is convenient for airport. Staff and service was nice.

Everything was wonderful, especially the guys in transportion and the bar. The front desk was very accommodating. The buffet was excellent each night. The electrical outages occurred in the daytime when i was going out, but could be a problem. The back-up generators ran most of the facility.

Downgraded rooms need urgent renovation

I had arrived at the hotel late at night at 10:30 pm after a long flight of 12 hours. Initial check in was very slow and thereafter the room (room no. 808) which I got had issues with the AC cooling. The AC was throwing hot air instead of cold. My intercom phone in the room was not working so I called up reception by my cell phone and asked them to sort out the AC problem. They sent an technician who checked and told that the AC is beyond repair and that he would ask reception to change my room. In all this chaos it was already 11:30 pm. I had to check out early in the morning at 4 am since I had a flight to catch at 6 am. Even until 12 am I received no response from reception on the change of room. All night I could not sleep since the AC was not working and the room temperature actually was warm. This was very unprofessional from the Hotel staff and personally I will surely think twice before booking this hotel for my stay.

I’d recommend as an exceptional value!

Everything was perfect…the only suggestion is to up the WiFi to the rooms. It was great in dining and common areas, but weak in my room on the 5th floor when I was trying to work.

Clean and clean inside and outside. Big room, big bathroom. Friendly, helpful staff. Shuttle bus to airport. Location to airport. Decor was amazing throughout the hotel.

A nice location in proximity to OR Tambo airport. It is a tad bit warm, and the AC units seem to blow air, but not much cool air, but I am not complaining as this strikes me as a nice hotel at a reasonable rate.

Great for a one night after a late flight. Room a bit dated, but otherwise it had everything we needed. Great service on our late arrival. Very good buffet breakfast. Neighborhood seemed a bit dingy, but the parking lot is gated. We felt safe,inside.

The Indian guy at reception was super helpful. We had received a parcel and he kindly kept it in the fridge for us until our departing flight. Hotel was great, the only issue is that it is a bit far from the airport.

Catching the bus for the hotel was quite easy it’s at the bus terminus when you arrive you have to follow the signs and ask a few officials , we then arrived at the hotel in about 10mins . I did have a lot of luggage but they helped me with this . The room was clean and comfortable and good for an overnight stay .

It was good but we were actually in transit, my husband got bitten by bed bugs please sanitize or clean the mattresses. The Chef cooked a good meal for us and he was very friendly. Check in and check out was so easy.

THE PROPERTY WAS OK. THE SPA NEVER RETURNED MY EMAIL REQUEST FOR AN APPOINTMENT. WHEN I SHOWED THEY SAID THE SYSTEM WAS SLOW AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BAC. 4 HOURS LATER NO CALL, SO I VISIT AND THEY WERE FULL OF EXCUSES. THE CLEANING LADY DID NOT CHANGE THE BEDDING AS A RESULT MY GIRLFRIEND CAME TO VISIT, SAW THE STAIN AND ACCUSED ME OF CHEATING. NOW SHE I NO LONGER HAVE A GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE. THE MANAGER SAID HE WAS GOING TO LOOK INTO IT AND REVERT BACK. HE SAW ME 3 TIMES AND NEVER SAID ANYTHING. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I FLEW IN FROM THE USA TO SPEND VACATION WITH MY GIRLFRIEND AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS. THEY DIDN'T OFFER AN UPGRADE, REDUCE PRICE NOTHING!!!
