Amazing stay!
An amazing stay! The owners are so lovely and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. They let us check in early after a long night bus which we appreciated so Much. The hotel is beautiful and just a 10 mins walk from the center so it’s really quiet. Breakfast is nice and the rooms are big with plenty of hot shower. Definitely our favourite hotel in Peru!
It was an Spanish colonial house converted, the architecture and surrounding area was incredible to view. Close to amenities, laundry, restaurants, shopping and all in an old world safe environment.
Rather pleasant inn 10-15” from the ❤️ of Arequipa
The service at this posada was excellent. Staff was very attentive to my requests and spoke very good English. The price I paid was excellent, but keep in mind that this is not a place to expect a soap, shampoo, or bottled water to be at the ready. Breakfast on the terrace was very nice. The room was reasonably comfortable and quiet. It about a 10-15” walk to the sites of historic Arequipa.
Historic Spanish colonial architecture
Great customer service in a historic property. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Simple and welcoming
We arrived at 01.00am and were welcomed by the night porter. The room is simple but clean and comfy. Breakfast on the roof terrace was fruit, choice of eggs with bread, butter and jam, juice tea and coffee. Really good value for money. Hot water was plentiful and wifi was OK but not great from the ground floor
Wonderful staff who were extremely helpful. They arranged a tour to Colca Canyon for us. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. Made our stay in Arequipa pleasant and easy. One small note is noise transfer between rooms which may be an issue for light sleepers.
Excellent staff/service, superb value/atmosphere
Wonderfully helpful, calm and kind staff. Nice breakfast and atmosphere. Great value overall. The neighbourhood has a few very noisy dogs...
Authentic place
Nice authentic place. Eggs are cook fresh
Nice quite place
Nice authentic place. The lady that prepares breakfast is very friendly and helpfull and the owner speaks good english. Couple of hooks in the bathroom will help.
We had a wonderful stay! Jesus (working at the front desk) was extremely generous with his time and went above & beyond to help us plan our trip to Colca Canyon. He also allowed us to check in early to take a nap when we arrived exhausted from an overnight bus ride. Thank you, Jesus!!
Close to Plaza de Armas (walking distance), safe, clean, comfortable, lovely staff.
Recommended
Beautiful colonial hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. It's a 15 minute walk to Plaza de Armas. A number of eating establishments are within an easy walk. Staff friendly, knowledgeable, and very accomodating.
Beautiful clean B&B with great breakfast
We had a great stay at this B&B. It's a 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Armes across a lovely bridge with great views. The area felt safe walking home. The room was clean and had hot water. The breakfast was a good size with tea/coffee, bread, jam, eggs and fresh fruit. There was some noise from a nearby building on Saturday night but we still slept well.
Very friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast, good value
This hotel was lovely. The location was perfect and quiet. The inside courtyards and the breakfast terrace were nice.
We had an amazing experience at Posada Nueva Espana. We were apprehensive that it is not in Centro but it ended up being a beautiful 10 minute walk at most and we were able to experience views we would not have otherwise. The hotel itself is gorgeous and built in 1810, with incredible details throughout. The shower was by far the best we had in all of Peru, which was a fantastic perk at the end of a long day of wandering the city. What really made our stay was the staff. They couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. We arrived in Arequipa at 6 am and they took us in, showed us around the local area, fed us breakfast and had us in a room by 7:30am despite check in not being for several hours. They wer
Gem in Arequipa
Excellent service, very clean comfortable room and good breakfast. It is worth for money. Instead of living in the noisy centre. It is really worth to have a short walk for the hotel. Staff were super nice and help me to print bus ticket, booking taxi etc. Highly recommend.
Nice location great service
Older building nicely set up. 10-15 minutes walk to city centre. Staff speak English, very helpful. Good breakfast.
Safe clean and good location
The hotel is nice, has big rooms. The staff is very helpful, and the location is within walking distance to the main plaza. Shower room amenities can be improved. The breakfast can be improved as well!!
Good location
The staff is excellent and took time to point out places to see which were not on our list.
Yes you should stay here!
We loved staying at Nueva Espana, definitely one of the best places we stayed in all our time in Peru. Hot water, strong coffee, super friendly staff. Also the building and courtyard are pretty, as advertised. Not far from the centre. We were so sad when we came back to a booking at another highly rated hostel in Arequipa that wasn't nearly as good. They stored our bags for three days no problems.
Nice and cosy hotel in arequipa
Great hotel in arequipa. Jesus was extremely helpful and kind. It would have been perfect if it was in city center but it is just 12 minutes walk.
Great hotel with lots of character
Lovely hotel with charm and character. Staff where very helpful and friendly. Would love to stay again
One of the best of Peru. Feel at home and beautifu
This family-run hotel is a gem. The house is beautiful, well located minutes away from the city center and steps from nice dining. The service is outstanding, with everyone going out of their way constantly to make you feel home and solve any problem you may have. FOr instance, my wife had the stomach upset from dinner on the coast and everyone treated her as a member of the family. They helped having food delivered . We also had a flat tire and they came with me to get it fixed. Not to mention how nice is the grandfather, always ready to give sound advice on the itinerary, culture and tips for food and sightseeing. Great stay, could not recommend more.
Great value and atmosphere
I enjoyed my stay as the place had atmosphere, room was clean and the breakfast each morning excellent. I could walk to town quite easily and there was a gym just around the corner.
Very nice hotel close to main attractions
It is a family business. They are all charming people. The "abuelo" grandfather is a wonderful person just like the rest of the family
Handy accomodation in Arequipa
Lovely to eat breakfast in the sun outside on the upstairs terrace. We chose a downstairs room so we could sit outside in the pleasant inner courtyard, and also so we didn't have to carry bags upstairs (no lift). I would describe Posada Nueva as modest and comfortable. Wifi was a bit variable.
Best hotel in Arequipa.
If you want old world charm this is the place for you. Courtyard was very nice walk to your room. Nice new room that kept the old traditions. Add great staff and where else would you want to stay.
They are amazing!!
I had wonderful time!! The hotel staff makes sure you are fine and feel good. My daughter was feeling bad at night and they helped me. They helped me arrange everything I needed. I am very happy and thankfull with them!!
The best customer service I have ever received
To be honest, my boyfriend and I were nervous when we first arrived. The hotel was not as close to the center of the city as we had hoped. We debated moving hotels but are so happy we didn't. It's only an 11-minute walk to the Plaza de Armas and the neighborhood is very safe. We did take taxis at night just to be on the safe side, but the guidebooks recommended that even if you are in the downtown area. The restaurants were more than happy to arrange these for us and they cost less than 10 soles each time (agree on a fare ahead of time). The hotel itself is very nice, with great sized rooms and lots of beautiful common areas to relax in. The included breakfast was delicious and filling and we enjoyed it on the patio right near our room. The staff was very accommodating and helped organize our stuff while we did a 2-day hike. One of the staff members woke up at 2 a.m. when our bus was supposed to arrive so we could have extra time to get ready. They shared restaurant recommendations and arranged for a cab to take us to the airport. It was a great experience and everyone in Arequipa was very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful family run hacienda
Off the beaten path but only twenty minutes walk to main part of town. Very clean and quiet. Braullio is the manager. His English is excellent having lived in the States for 3 years. Extremely accomodating. We stayed 1 night, went on Colca Canyon tour for 2 nights and stayed one more night before we left Arequipa. The first night when we stopped by at 10am expecting only to check in and drop off our bags, Brauillo gave us our rooms early! They have a laundry service which allowed us to have professionally cleaned clothes! They stored our bags for us while we were on the canyon trek, made dinner reservations for us, and called cabs. Breakfast was fabulous, on the last day we were going to miss it with our early departure, so Braullio made us toast and tea to not send us off unfed! Hot showers! Highly recommend staying here.
Quiet, clean, comfortable, and really welcoming.
This was our first experience of a Peruvian hotel, and we were treated exceptionally well by the staff and especially the manager here. The room was comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was good and the patio on which it was served was refreshing. The staff were very helpful in every matter. We understand it is intended that the facilities are to be further improved, and look forward to staying here again -- we intend to return.
Come for the community, stay for the history!
Our stay at the Posada Nueva España was as integral to our trip to Arequipa as our visit to the Monasterio de Santa Catalina. We really got a sense of the history of Arequipa as the hotel manager explained that the vaulted archways in the main two patios were originally built for horses to pass through during Colonial times. Before and after our trip to Colca Canyon, the grandfatherly manager made us feel like we were part of his family by sharing with us stories of Arequipeñan traditions and food. Learned more about Arequipa and Colca from a few minutes chatting in the lobby of the Posada than we did from all of our guidebooks! Loved how fresh and delicious breakfast was every morning, the wonderful balcony and view outside our window, and most importantly the people!
Great expenience at a charming hotel!
This hotel is well situated, close to the Plaza des Armes, but just far enough away to not be in the middle of the noise. The staff are outstanding! They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and to help you make the most of your stay in the area. I would highly recommend!
Outstanding
Outstanding hotel with top Service The Owners gave five star Service
Easy walk to central Arequipa.
Wonderful staff and owners--cousins, I think--who are in the process of upgrading a 200-year old building. This hotel is a calm, colorful, comfortable place. Jesus checks you in and helps you arrange tours and taxis; Browlie makes a wonderful Pisco Sour. Great customer service.
Near perfect value for money
Barra and jesus were perfect hosts...with excellent english thaey would help with everything....fix problems, arrangetransport and meals out of hours. Meals available onsite, dinner options limited but adequate, breakfast good. Very comfortable beds and lovely ambience of 200 year old hacienda. The location is very good...far enough away from the centro to be quiet bug only 10 minutes to the Main square.
pleasant and with character
We had a great stay.
Character with service
Full of character but still does the basics well. Great breakfast on a roof terrace. Have a chat with Jose, the owner's dad.
Clean, quiet and reasonably priced.
This is a quiet, small reasonably priced hotel built around a central courtyard in a residential neighborhood within a 10-15 minute walk/5 minute ($2) taxi drive of central Arequipa but without all the street noise, traffic and air pollution found in the city center. The owners are pleasant and helpful, and will arrange local taxis and tours, give restaurant recommendations, and help arrange transportation to Colca Canyon. A simple but adequate breakfast of eggs, bread and fresh juice served on the interior terrace was included in the price of the room. Rooms were basic but very clean and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of hot water from the solar water heaters on the roof. My only [minor] complaint was that instant rather than brewed coffee was served. I would stay there again.
Nice old building
There are good room and not so good rooms but the stuff are great and the old building is very interesting I liked staying there
A charming oasis in a frenetic city
Wonderful host, great architecture
Nueva Espana is a real gem.
A family run hotel who are extremely friendly and helpful, The rooms were a good size and well decorated. The old colonial building was quaint with a lovely cobbled courtyard in the centre. Breakfast was taken on a lovely elevated terrace to catch the sunshine. .Honest advice given about tours and the area. Made bookings for tours efficiently. The centre was a slow 10 min walk from the hotel and the area was safe at night.
Highly recommend, would stay there anytime.
The Posada Nueva Espana truly exceeded our expectations for the price. We were greeted at the airport and transferred to the hotel by one of the owners at no extra cost. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel room was clean and the beds comfortable. We had a private bath and the water was hot which was very important to us. There was a little balcony outside the room that was shared with other rooms but a nice touch. The owners went out of there way to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied. I was very pleased with this hotel and it was the least expensive on our trip.
Best Hotel in Arequipa!
Awesome service. Gave great recommendations. The elderly owner of the hotel waited with us at 2:30 AM to be picked up or our Colca Canyon tour and we were always escorted outside while they hailed a taxi for us.
Bien
The staff is excellent, very friendly. Property is walkable to the plaza center, stores and restaurants. You can have your breakfast breathing the mountain air and enjoy the quietness while admiring the wonderful garden inside the building
