Overnight
Ideal for a stopover would stay again
They do have a parking lot in the back but it fits maybe 5 cars from what I could tell. Luckily street parking right out front was free overnight so it wasn’t a problem. The place is a bit dingy and the mattress was awful. There was an actual hole in the ceiling of my room from possibly an old leak? The en-suite bathroom was fine. Staff were friendly enough and breakfast was decent. Very convenient location to many restaurants and shops. It was what it was if you need a quick stop off on a budget.
The beds ( mattresses) were unbelievably bad, springs sticking through, and dips like a valley. Worst night ever, I suppose you get what you pay for.
Perfectly adequate and good check in , Diolch am y croeso ! I arrived late and check in was spot on .
Great place to stay
The bedroom would benefit from a new bed and the replacement of all bedding. The shower and towels were good. Breakfast was excellent and evening meals were substantial although all items on the menu were not always available. The staff were friendly and helpful. I found it difficult to use the car park due to a marquee being erected and in position all week. Other parked vehicles resulted in limited space to manoeuvre. On street parking was however available
Staff very friendly, breakfast very nice large room only let down was bed had uncomfy mattress an half of double bed broken
Bala break
A comfortable stay and we were in luck having a room facing the back away from the traffic. There is a pelican crossing nearby which is set to a ridiculously high volume and this would have been a source of unnecessary noise had we been in a room facing the front. Please have a word with the local authority as it should be turned down. It only needs to be heard by people using it!
Comfy and friendly hotel
Cofortable and friendly staff , with tasty food and great choice of beers.
Basic accommodation. Staff friendly and helpful. Would use again
Nice staff very helpful, room decor but dated also a new mattress wouldn’t go a miss springs in it have seen better days .
Helpful staff nice convenient location.
Really poor quality accommodation. Old fashioned, poor quality of fixtures and fittings. Really outdated property. Won’t stay here again
One night stay
My single room was absolutely fine and as expected. Basic and clean. Check in was simple and parking was available on the street outside. Unfortunately the room was quite cold. I could feel a massive temperature difference when walking from the 1st to 2nd floor. The shower was also uncomfortably cold. For one night and the price I could have accepted this but the noise at night was really bad. Music, singing and shouting from a nearby pub went on until the early hours and kept me awake until it stopped sometime after 1am. I needed to be up early and this really affected my day. I think people need to be informed that there are nearby late night venues and that there may be noise when booking as I would not have chosen this hotel due to that reason.
Really nice hotel in the centre of Bala nice bar with a great selection of beer and wines - really good breakfast too and plenty of it - A great location to explore the area will definitely stay again
Pas Coch -October 2023
Super clean hotel. Comfortable stay. Lovely breakfasts. Owner friendly. Nice room
Hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The full English breakfast wasn’t as goo as it could of been
A lovely place to stay, owners are welcoming, food was great and would definitely stay again
The place is run down and really needs updating the reception area looked like a bomb site with rubbish and boxes all over the place. We couldn't make a hot drink as when we boiled the kettle there was black bits inside it and the kettle it's self was black. The room it's self smell and we couldn't even lock the toilet door. We definitely won't be going there again
Good value only a short stay but it done the job , somewhere to sleep and get a meal
Bala break
Great cental location, clean amd staff very friendly
Staff where very friendly every where was clean, no different to a lot of hotels tired and in need refurbishment.
Fantastic service as always - 6th stay. Food is outstanding.
Good value for the money
No better nor worse than expected. Bedrooms and corridors run down, bare wooden stairs, stair carpets removed and never replaced. Room very dated and basic. The place needs some money spending on the accommodation.
On the way
Great location most friendly and helpful staff Excellent food Bed a little small but good old fashioned room and bathroom Will go again Parching a bonus
Really good value for the money. Food is excellent and staff can’t do enough to help, really friendly.
Property is bit out of date and requires refurbishment. Very noisy die to the pub in front. But owner was excellent and breakfast was wonderful.
The property was being renovated but we still had a great time staff where friendly food great room nice and clean and very quiet would highly recommended
Convenient stay for a long weekend
Clean spacious room, although décor a bit dated. Above a lively pub, so can get noisy.
Room is big and spacious but the shower is very slow.
Great value family friendly Hotel.
Comfortable good value rooms. Lovely pub food and great range of drinks. Convenient street parking and close shopping ameneties
Good value friendly Hotel
Great friendly service, lovely good value pub food. Good selection of beers with comfortable family room. Ideal location for nearby water sports on lakes and white water centre.
Room basic but clean. Friendly helpful staff.
Disappointing
We booked the 3 bed family room, 2 of the 3 beds was broken very badly, which had been attempted to be fixed by adding mattresses but was still very broken and leaning yo one side. The room wasn't the cleanest, staff was very nice and pleasant and breakfast in the morning was ok
Rooms were dirty, there was a chewing gum on floor when we checked in, pieces of biscuits in the drawer.
Leaking toilet, leaking shower cabin, the worst mattress in the world. Never ever again
Positives & Negatives
+ Staff were superb and friendly. + Location was excellent. + Food and drink options were good. - Curtains in our room we’re broken. - No lock on our bathroom door. - Heating didn’t work properly. - Shower didn’t work properly. If your not fussed about the detail or just need a room for the night then it’s a great place. Of detail is important, I’m afraid they let themselves down. Would we stay again - yes.
Uncomfortable Beds
Good location and breakfast. However, the mattress are way too uncomfortable and you will be awake all night. The rooms overall are in a dire need of renovation.
Friendly hotel
Passing through Bala and needed somewhere last minute to stay. Staff friendly. Good COVID system. Car park taken over for outside safe drinking, so had to leave bike on the road. Nice breakfast.
A little dated but overall ok for the price
Comfortable. Good food. Helpful staff. Would recommend Plas Coch to our friends.
Nice friendly staff family room big and clean. Location good for exploring close to the lake and railway.
quite little hotel. Friendly staff & comfortable stay. Shower water flow is weak though still usable. Simple English breakfast is adequate.
So near yet so far....
This place could be so much more, but sadly it isn't. Our room was cold, I asked for the heating to be turned on as the kids were feeling the cold. They put an electric heater in the room which had little to no effect. The shower was terrible, barely a trickle. The beds were very uncomfortable, and barely got any sleep. Also, the smell of stale old chip grease hangs over the whole place. Such a shame as this place has potential. Bala is a lovely place to visit, and with this being located on the high street it could be a great place to set up base to explore the area.
Nice hotel, excellent gluten-free food catering
The hotel was easy to find, bright red building on the high street in Bala. There is on-street parking but it's time-restricted in the daytime, the car park for the hotel is around the back, two left turns and you get there, it's rather cozy but doesn't cost. From start to finish the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 5, a double overlooking the street, the bed was fine, the room was a little noisy on Friday night but nothing earplugs couldn't solve. The shower was good, hot and good pressure. The guest wifi was better than expected, worked in most areas if you were happy to jump between networks. The bar and restaurant were informal and friendly. My girlfriend is gluten-intolerant and the chef was excellent at accommodating her, always happy to adapt dishes to suit her, even made her some chips in a pan because they only had one deep fat fryer, really made her weekend knowing that she could eat food there safely and didn't feel like she was awkward or a burden. The bar was nice and reasonably priced, certainly more reasonable than some of the others we went in, had several televisions and were happy to put on your request of channel if nothing was on, had Sky Sports and BT Sport packages available, we watched the worst-ever Champions League final there with the locals. If we were in Bala again we would definitely consider staying here again.
hi they have party tent in the back of hotel rowdy people shouting swearing till 230 am did now get any sleep fire alarm went up no staff in hotel to ask what was happpening when ask to see manger put off said they could not change rooms very bad experience would not recommend any body to use this hotel also food poorly cooked
Central location in Bala Very noisy at night due to businesses nearby.
central location,street parking directly outside,cooked breakfast,free wifi
Good
Hotel itself a bit dated but staff could not be better and cleanliness was 100%. Breakfast was great.
