Pleasant stay. Staff was very pleasant and informative. Quiet, clean, accommodating. Will stay there again.
Overall good, noisy in the morning due to cleaning. Can be difficult to find the room - confusing layout of the building and no front desk staff later in the evening.
Great location across the metro station and plenty of dining options around.
This was a wonderful place to stay. I would happily return.
It was in a great location, very close to the metro! The mansion itself was beautiful! My wife and I enjoyed our stay!
It was very hard to park, navigating the elevator with a suitcase was complicated, there’s no easy way in and out of the hotel. I hated the fact that I need to have a code to get into my room, it was cumbersome to pull it up in my phone, and too complicated to remember.
No bedside light, slippry shower, peeling paint, dirty grout. But super convenient and nice staff.
We really liked the room . The staff were polite and helpful with any queries. The lamps didn't work in the room and, although we stayed for six nights and put a sign on the door, our room wasn't cleaned nor the towels changed. We're not dirty people but the rubbish bin filled up and, when my husband queried the lack of cleaning and emptying of the bin, the lady on reception gave him some clean bin liners and showed him where he could put his rubbish. not what we expected.
Updated room in historical building. Nice kitchen, bathroom and space. Room has some wear and tare but overall worth it and has tons of storage room! Would stay again. Staff are very friendly
Perfect location
Perfect location. Beautiful apartment. It had everything that we needed. Local supermarket nearby. Farmers market on Sundays. Excellent communication before check in. Lovely front desk staff.
The location was perfect for us, and the exterior was so cool.
Quite nice with some major flaws
Location excellent. Friendly folks at front desk. Comfortable and spacious room (didn't spend too much time there). But what's up with a street lantern at the height of our 2nd floor window so the room was lit all night because of lack of proper (blackout) curtains? And what's up with the roll down curtain/screens that would leave us totally exposed during the day if rolled up so we left it down and couldn't look out either when we were there during the day? Really, the window treatment needs to be addressed BIG TIME!
Bunker in a mansion
We were in a basement room, which we did not expect. It was dark with a very small window at the top of the wall. The bed was comfortable and the room had good amenities including a full kitchen, sofa, and dining table, but it was not at all cozy or inviting. It felt like a well appointed bunker. I have to assume that rooms on the upper floors are more inviting. It was disappointing to stay in a grand old building and have the room be devoid of any character.
Not amazing.
There was a very loud party happening in the event space. I asked when the party would end, as I had an early morning. The response was “hopefully soon. It’s an event rental space, so we have no control.” When the music finally stopped the person in the next room was snoring so loudly I had to turn the washing machine on to drown out the snoring. It was truly horrible.
Great location
Convenient to the red line metro, clean, and comfortable. I didn’t realize my unit was in the basement with very little natural light. The old fashioned elevator was cool but challenging to navigate with luggage. Gym was clean and well-ventilated but there are only two cardio machines - one stair, one treadmill. So it fills fast.
A home away from home
Contactless check inn
Good for longterm stay in the heart of DC
The staff was attentive and personable. The sofa in the room needed a deep cleaning or to be replaced, and so it added a dated and unclean feel to the room. The location is great, though a bit noisy.
Great location and the upgraded suite with kitchen and lift was exactly as described - well worth the extra cost if you want to cook or spread out.
Very Embrassive and intimidating staff members
Lovely
This is not really a hotel. More like a building of efficiency apartments. Our TV never worked correctly. It took two of the 3 days we were there for anyone to even try to address the issue. Communication was very slow. And the room had a horrible view of a ventilation shaft. There was a lot of mold in the shower and the heater barely worked in well below freezing weather. The bed is cheep stiff. At the right price point it’s fine I suppose. But there are much better real hotel options close by at this price point.
This is a great place to base yourself for a short or extended stay in DC. It has lots of good eats and nightlife nearby and easy access to the metro
No parking close
This property is extremely comfortable. The location is great and the staff is superb!
A gem on DuPont Circle.
Spacious aparthotel with everything one needs along with the extras (high ceilings, historic building, grand public lounges). Close to Metro
Great location, great option for the price!
i loved the communication on behalf of the staff. the property itself was very nice & cozy.
I was surprised to see modern decor for a building that I am familiar with as a stately anchor in the DuPont circle neighborhood. The person at the desk was very helpful with my room. Well done
Lot of potential - but overall disappointing. Beautiful building in a great location. The unit was clean and functional. Bed was comfortable and shower pretty good with hot water. However, it was very sparse and amenities were lacking and pretty basic. Disappointing at this price point - cheap, tacky furniture; sad paper towels, toilet paper and knockoff coffee maker that struggled to make coffee. No place to put silverware and barely functional nightstands. Also, old fashioned scary elevator that often did not work because someone hadn't closed the door. Wind came through the windows and the TV in the bedroom did not function. Beautiful building with lots of potential, but lack of thought and care for guests' comfort made it an ultimately disappointing stay.
This was a last minute booking and the concierge was incredibly helpful and professional.
It’s a beautiful building but we got a subterranean room.
Great stay in Dupont Circle
Placemakr Dupont Circle is a charming 1890s mansion that has been all updated and modernized in the rooms. Placemakr Dupont Circle is right at a metro stop, making it easy to get anywhere in Washington DC. There is a CVS with food/drinks and a liquor store right at Dupont Circle. Each room has a fridge, stove, microwave, plates silverware washer/dryer coffee maker and kitchen sink. I found it to be quiet, clean, and comfortable.
NEVER AGAIN Except for the exceptional front desk staff, the Placemakr Dupont Circle was a grand disappointment. Although the unit seemed clean, the bed blanket was permanently stained, the TV remotes were nonfunctioning, and at one a.m. a screeching banshee in the hallway banged on the door for over an hour. Unfortunately, the front desk staff leaves at eleven, P.M. So, there was no one to call for help. I never say never unless it's booking a night at the Placemakr Dupont Circle. A restless author in search of a good night's rest.
Good location, not a great stay
The room itself was cute and a great location, but I was given a non-working entry PIN to check in and the WiFi was broken in my room the entire time I was there, which was a problem because I was supposed to be working. On my last morning someone from the staff just let themselves into my room around 9:15 while I was still in there, despite the fact that check-out isn’t until 11.
This is our second stay at Placemakr, Dupont Circle. We had a very pleasant stay again. The unit we stayed is very comfortable and functional. We love it because it is close to where our children live.
Good for short term
Great find for business travelers
My stay at the Dlacemakr Dupont Circle met all of my needs. It was a great find for downtown DC - comparable quality to higher-end hotels but at a lower price point. I stayed in a studio, and I appreciated the kitchenette and extra room to spread out in the comfortable TV/sitting area. Check-in was a breeze with the access code texted to me the day of my stay. Will stay again!
We booked a larger room with a view of Dupont Circle's park. Everything was as expected except for how stingy they were with the K-Cups for coffee. Only two per day, per room, are given and we each drink two cups of coffee daily. Keeping in mind that there is no housekeeping and no extra towels unless you ask at the desk, it seems like they could afford this small concession. (We were there four (4) nights.)
Excellent location. Restaurants and shopping all in walking distance. Subway station is a couple blocks away and will get you to all the sights. There’s a CVS across the park to grab snacks and drinks. Really cool place in a really cool building.
Good
Great place in a great area
The property was sorely lacking in amenities. Although the staff was wonderful, housekeeping was an extra $119. A refund you could not get on Expedia. I also could not get the discount code on Expedia, so I ended up paying 20 percent more. The room itself was clean but barren of creature comforts! Not even a box of tissues. The only plus was the wonderful staff and the location.
Great location right on Dupont Circle. Lots of amenities within walking distance and easy Metro access. There were some thoughtful touches like dishwasher pods and enough tools in the kitchen for basic meals. The room itself feels pretty sparse and tired from use, ex scuffed walls, hooks not secured to wall, warped coffee table. Despite that, I'd stay again based on functionality and location.
Very nice alternative to usual places that I stay.
Great location, sad room
I stayed in the "tower" side and my room was really run-down, with cheap furnishings that were coming apart and huge stains on the couch. The room itself was comfortable, spacious, and clean, but sad. The property itself is gorgeous and feels well cared for in all the common spaces. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the location is great.
Unique and beautiful hotel!
- Easy access to Metro, shops and restaurants! - Beautiful and unique hotel - Spacious room with sitting area, kitchenette, and large bathroom
Awesome location
Great location to the metro and great spots like the French bakery one street over and the Phillips Collection. Probably wouldn’t stay here as a woman alone because the rooms are a ways away from the lobby but very clean and nice. Great to have a little kitchen and plenty of space in the room.
The property was nice and convenient to my meetings. The staff were very friendly and responsive.
Love the property and location. The view was great and perfect size. Cleanliness was the only opportunity. Some small crickets found in apt and needed a good mop/cleaning floorboards of dust and hair.
I found hair strands in the shower so I’m not sure if they thoroughly clean, the tv stand was busted, towel had hole, The view was a basement window with trash outside, wall needs to be painted or mended
Great stay!
This was a cool place - it had a 150 year old elevator and old word charm with updated amenities and plumbing! There was a bit of wear in the bathroom sink-to-wall attachment, but it was clean and comfortable. The free luggage storage was super helpful!
Perfect if you need to work and play. Like having a small apartment
You can do better!!!
It was too basic! Crummy renovation, no desk or lighting in the room other than the bright ceiling lights (no bedside lamps). No amenities and no lobby. Old couch. I wouldn’t go back.
Wonderful staff and really great space. It would be easy to live and work here
Very friendly staff, beautiful building, and cute room for my one night stay. Great walkable area too. Highly recommend!
Our go-to hotel in DC.
Check-in process was such a breeze, just follow the pre-arrival instruction on the email sent to you. The room we were in was spacious, extremely clean, very modern and has a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator and washing machine to boot. It has a safe under the bed and a sleeper sofa for additional guests. Very convenient to Connecticut and Massachusetts Ave as the hotel is smack in front of DuPont Circle. This hotel used to be the Patterson Mansion in 1903 and will be our go-to hotel in DC. Extremely pleased with our stay.
Such a beautiful place! The location on Dupont Circle was wonderful and so convenient. Our room had a full kitchen, although we didn't cook there. The bathroom was more than ample, and the shower was very nice. We would happily stay there again.
Excellent home away from home
London at the front desk is amazing. She pulled some “razzle dazzle” in her words and upgraded us into a gorgeous studio with very stylish design and light pouring in. The location is A+. I’m sad I’m only here one night because I could comfortably live and work here for weeks.
Beautiful historic building in a fantastic area with dining, shopping, and nearby metro station. Not the quietest stay I’ve had but that was likely due to the original windows. The room was lovely with a solid hvac system to keep the room cool in the hot daytime and warm during the chilly nights. I’d stay at this property again.
Enjoyed our stay at the Placemakr Dupont Circle. Perfect, central location. Spacious room with a seating area and small kitchen. Only disappointment was the bed wasn't super comfortable. Friendly staff at the front desk, especially London who was delightful during our final morning at the hotel.
Wonderful place to stay. Great neighborhood. Staff was courteous and friendly. Close to transportation and local eateries. Would stay there again! Upper scale neighborhood
Pretty good deal.
Was fine. Sketchy area. Lobby area and halls could use some touch-up
I really likee the place
a great place for a great stay
wonderful staff, location and pleasant stay. the only request i’d have is the rooms be serviced every 2-3 days rather than every 7 days.
I am not giving you any more.....
Nice stay in a convenient location (but basement street level apt - so a bit noisy), and would be 5 stars, but the registration and check-in process is a bit over the top, time consuming and frustrating. Probably the most aggressive process encountered to date, and I have been through a few. Now that you have everything but the passwords to my bank accounts, what you going to do with all the info?
Clean private
Pleasantly surprised
I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of my stay. Instructions were very well defined and the room was spacious, comfortable and convenient. All while being a good price performer.
Loved it. Amazing!!!
Great location, well-equipped room, clean; nice people.
We loved our stay here. Clean, cool, and funky mansion with lots of character. Very convenient location.
Not recommended
Stairs in apartment. Wifi did not work in sitting room. Empty unattractive fireplace in bedroom. Bumpy scary lift. Cleaning issues. Lumpy mattress. Not large enough bed. Looking straight into other people’s bedrooms from window.
Private Apartment style unit, Only stayed one night. Only downside, stairs to bedroom loft are steep especially top step.
Really neat property. Cool converted mansion. Good Gym, etc,... Room was large, full kitchen, and a lounge area with a couch. Onething to consider: no one on the property between 11pm and 7 am. Which is why the price is relatively reasonable for DC. I would stay again, but if I was a woman traveling alone I would probably give it a pass.
Never received the code before arriving
I did not receive the code before checking in. This made me a bit nervous the entire evening (after the 4:00 check in time). I finally came to the property and the person in the lobby was SUPER friendly and helpful! I had no difficulty!
Very nice place and very nice people.
I booked this property for a conference at the convention center for a few days. The building is very good looking on the exterior and is up to date and clean on the interiors. Easy check in and check out process. Front desk personnel were very friendly. The place is located within walking distance from the convention center (25min fast pace) and I felt very safe in the mornings on my way out and very late in the night on arrival. I only used the gym and it was small but useful and convenient. The studio was just what I needed it, everything was cleaned, and we even had a courtyard door that we could have opened if we wanted. The add-ons of small kitchenette, fridge, and washer/dryer were a plus! we used them all throughout the stay. The area has restaurants near by and a 24hr pharmacy a few blocks away. I would definitely recommend the place for business or vacation stays!
The staff were very friendly and hospitable. This was my first time staying at a Placemakr property. It’s not your traditional hotel, but it was perfect for my stay. Location was great! Loved being able to stay right on DuPont Circle. The restaurant and nightlife were great. It’s close to the Metro, while also being positioned in a walkable location to so many things in the heart of DC.
Good location but just regular premises and horrible staff
Good
The check-in was really complex. I kept waiting for two hours and didn't receive any code. Noone was at the reception. Later, a guy came and he finally helped a lot.
Well maintained property
Great location, price, room size - everything you need for a short or long stay. Beautiful building and great shape - as good as any 4 star hotel. Only downside is that I didn’t have a view (big window but just faces other back windows of other buildings).
All good
The hotel was in a great location and had very helpful staff. However, it is clear when this space was converted into a hotel they did not make an effort to reduce noise between common spaces and guest rooms. My room was on the first floor of the older building (front hotel picture) and it had all of the features advertised however I could hear every footstep in the lobby and second floor, every conversation, the background music of the hotel lobby, the elevator dings and anyone opening or closing their door or the front door. This was a major negative of an otherwise nice stay. There were no particularly loud guests or large groups to blame the sound on it is just an unfortunate design flaw of the space.
Wonderful experience
Wonderful location, nice and clean room. The second floor rest area is gorgeous! Love the place.
You guys cheat costumers. It was on the 18th I booked for check out on 20 because expedia advertises that a room is available. when confirming it automatically shifts you to a separate date. I front up at Pacemaker that it should be corrected but its to no avail. The hotel is blaming Expedia that Expedia was not supposed to advertise, why did they advertise. Expedia blames the hotel for not refunding. This is cheating of customers. you both should be referred to the credit and data bureau.
Except for the event music which was very until 12:30am on Saturday evening, the stay was great!!
Good Location / Hard Followup for onsite issue
I had a leak in my room and was asked to move rooms. I opted to check out - I sent an email requesting communication about the refund, etc. but have heard nothing back. I forfeited two nights.
Stick with reputable chain
Very overpriced, rooms look nicer online. Everything is a little dirty and sparse. No simple amenities like a bottle of water in room.
I love the location and how clean the apartment was
Solid choice in DuPont Circle
My room was great, glean and well appointed. The couch was a little dated and worn in. The three pillows provided on the double bed were pretty lackluster. Aside from that, everything else was good. Would stay again.
Highly recommend this property. Location was perfect and the rooms was comfortable and clean. Only wish my stay was more than a short 2 days!
The location is great and close to downtown DC. I stayed at this property a couple of years ago and it was in a much better condition and breakfast was included.
Placemakr Dupont Circle
Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The location was great for the Metro or walking to the White House area. The only negative was the towels are nothing special (i.e., they were a little thin). Not a big deal. I would and am staying here again soon.
Great front desk staff.
The staff was friendly, property was well maintained. Excellent location near food/dining and very short walk to the Metro station. The only thing I did not like was vintage elevator. It worked fine but was very jolting when it stopped.
