Great hotel for families
Great hotel for families. Amazing green space and activities for kids. Beach area with cliffs was beautiful.
Property was beautiful. Restaurants that were open were very good. Friendly staff. Clean.
Overpriced and dated
Overpriced and very dated Really disappointed
Perfect place to stay in September. Highly recommend an oceanfront deluxe suite.
It’s a stunning property. Loved the sunset champagne bar. Food and drinks are pricey, but there are other options nearby. The pizza at the Italian restaurant and the burger at the lunch spot near the pool with the swim up bar were yummy.
Beautiful location
Great spot for families. Beautiful location and excellent amenities.
Amazing hotel with great facilities for everyone.
Fantastic resort
Great location, expansive resort with something for everyone.
Gorgeous resort, relaxing vibe
Spectacular last minute family trip to the southern coast of Portugal! Needed to escape the hustle and bustle of Seville for some R&R and Pine Cliffs Hotel was perfect for us! The grounds are spectacular, beautifully groomed with direct beach access. The restaurant directly on the beach served up high quality ceviche and drinks and there were ample beach chairs with shade available for our use. The 1 bedroom suite we reserved was spacious and clean though did show some signs of wear but was still clean with comfortable linens and towels. The breakfast bullet provided plenty of options to choose from with plenty of fresh fruit, pastries and the typical fare of higher end buffets (espresso drinks, juice options/smoothies, omelette station, etc). We would definitely stay again next time we visit southern Portugal!
We all had a lovely holiday. It felt very easy. The room was always kept clean, the towel huts really handy and the resort felt calm and quiet.
The property and staff was amazing!! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! The grounds were beautiful and immaculate. So many dining options, multiple pools and a beautiful walk down to the beach. Highly recommend!!
Excelente
I love everything in this resort except the following: There should be a dedicated area and pool for children and families with children. Fine dining area should be just adults only. Price points of their drinks is just outrageous, it’s understandable it’s in a five star resort but it’s in the Algarve, Portugal, not Manhattan, New York.
This was a last minute purchase as we looked for a sunny vacay. We were certainly not disappointed. The weather was amazing, the beach is gorgeous and the resort was beautiful. We did half board which was a great option as the food is so good. The Champaign bar is a must.
Beautiful beach and amazing spa
Only a brief visit - definitely worth a second visit to the most beautiful beach in the world during the high season when the hotel shops are open. Spa and beach were particularly impressive. Very much enjoyed the short two day stay.
Great breakfast
Amazing place
Fabulous hotel
The property was beautiful and the staff helpful and accomadating but not warm or friendly which we frequently encountered elsewhere in Portugal. The room was clean but haphazardly restocked. They didnt clear teacups until asked and either brought many waters or none. The facility is HUGE and maze like but we got used to it. Biggest complaint is: I tripped over an exposed wire and fell very hard at the bar on the terrace overlooking the cliffs. No one apologized; no one offered a comp drink; nothing . One nice waitstaff said she has complained to her boss about that cord.
great overall experience
Loved our stay here, room was great, staff were great, food was excellent
Excellent
the views from each corner of property absolutely stunning elevator to the beach was wonderful
Absolutely love this property and hope to bring entire family next fall
Stayed here for a mother/daughter vacation with my 7 year old. Was a beautiful property, we felt very safe and comfortable and it was the perfect hotel for kids. Lots of other kids to play with and tons of amenities geared towards kids. My daughter loved the kids club, games room, buffet and endless selection of pools to jump in. I held back one star on this review because there were several occasions where we felt like there was not enough waitstaff to handle the volume of guests and demands. We had to wait quite a long time for food service a few times and had to seek out staff to order food and drinks when lounging on the lawn. Other than that, it was great and I would definitely revisit with even more of our family because there is something for everyone and it has a great family atmosphere.
Great but slow
+ great facilities + Friendly staff + Great location + Good restaurants - over priced restaurants - very slow service (resort too big and underemployed)
Overall the hotel is nice with spacious, never felt overcrowded with plenty of grounds to walk and enjoy. Two main issues. Firstly, the breakfast was poor with luke warm food and dreadful coffee of all types. Secondly, there isn’t a nice bar to enjoy the evenings. The main bar is dark and dingy and the champagne bar which is nice shuts at 10pm.
This beautiful property is a hidden gem! Truly had the best time and every need was met! The staff were friendly, professional, and worked hard to help us enjoy our stay. The facilities were top notch. Grounds are beautiful, pools are clean, restaurants are delicious and varied, and the beach was one-of-a-kind! Our room in the hotel was beautifully updated and done with great quality. The room was well-equipped, and the housekeeping staff came by twice daily. We were thrilled to have the wonderful breakfast buffet included and it was just amazing every morning! We will be back to this resort without a doubt!!!
Everything was excellent
Beautiful hotel
very nice lush property, great location on a gorgeous beach, staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel rooms are a little bit dated but still nice. My only complaints are that the pool was not heated and the spa closed at 7 PM. Would stay here again.
More access to transportation
I was there for a jazz event and it was really nice and relaxing.
Beautiful
Stunning location, LOTS of people and LOTS of kids. This isn’t the spot if you’re looking for couples relaxation, but the property is gorgeous and well done.
Great hotel with a beautiful access to the beach. Great to switch off and forget about the world
Very good lovely stay
Beautiful resort.
Amazing hotel with the most beautiful beach
The hotel is gorgeous!! The beach is incredible and the staff is very nice and accomodating. My only complaint is we came for three nights and we were not able to get reservations for any restaurant for dinner. The restaurants seem amazing but are open to people outside the hotel. Perhaps this part needs to be improved and managed a bit more..
Too busy no restaurant bookings available
We had a lovely stay. The service overall was good, just a couple of hiccups as I think they were a little too busy- and maybe couldn’t manage the post covid rush? Service was a bit slow and you have to chase for few things. Apart from that all ok
3* hotel with 5* gardens - no luxury experience!
The hotel is set in beautiful gardens which are the best thing about the place. The hotel is run on the cheap and everything about it is cheap - Nescafé in the rooms, broken sun loungers, swimming pools not heated, breakfast rationed, pool towels rationed to 1 per person. When I stayed only one restaurant was open and the food was inedible - greasy and disgusting. Also the restaurant chairs were so uncomfortable that one was in agony after 30 minutes. Basically a three star hotel in 5 star grounds. Definitely not worth the €300 per night.
Masks had to be worn inside and sanitizers were everywhere. That is the good part. Service was poor, this is not five star, bordering on 3 to 4 star. I would say it is probably understaffed. It can take you 15-20 minutes to buy a €5 ice cream as there is only one till at the clubhouse by the pool and if it is being used you have to wait. A meal on the first night was a farce, a bottle of wine was ordered which never arrived until we asked again, a beer never arrived at all. Mayonnaise was requested twice as was cheese for the bolognaise. You cannot get a drink after 11pm so if you have a night out in Vilamoura and fancy a nightcap when you return you are out of luck and sent to bed. I know COVID has had its effect but expect queues out the door at popular times for breakfast and it is not self service. I stayed in the hotel where you have paper cups for tea or coffee in the room. Plastic cups in the bathroom which I used for a soft drink were never replaced. We even had to ask for a toilet roll. On checkout I mentioned my displeasure and all they did was offer me a complimentary lunch which didn’t include a cup of tea. Needless to say I will not be returning to Pine Cliffs.
The setting is unbelievably beautiful. And the staff at this resort is unparalleled in the service they provide. Paula assisted us when we checked in. She is the personification of hospitality! I hope to return one day.
My sister and I enjoyed our stay at the Pine Cliffs hotel. It was a very nice resort that offered amazing scenery and sunset. The property was very well maintained and pleasantly beautiful surrounded by nature. The staff were all very nice and helpful including the lady that cleaned our room, servers at breakfast, people at the gym, reception and concierge. The only thing I would improve is the variety at breakfast and more local foods.Overall, we had a really nice experience and would come back again when it is warmer :)
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC
Best hotel I've ever ever ever been.
Loved the resort. Really beautiful place to watch the sunset and great beach access. Staff are friendly and helpful.
sense of security amidst all that beauty...definitely luxurious
Great beaches and great bar and restaurant right on the beach
Room wasn’t cleaned daily unlike previous stays. Made things difficult when trying to arrange payment for things. They insist on charging to the room all the time when you would prefer to pay cash Lovely location Lovely hotel
Room clean bed comfortable grounds well kept swimming pool few people. Building work nearby intrusive on occasions.breakfast to few staff for number of guests to keep tables turning over efficiently.
Ecellent hotel and facilities. Everything provided for a relaxing
Loved this hotel. So well kept. Great location. The views are extraordinary. The only downsize is that you hear your neighbours in the other rooms. The walls are not soundproof!
A real luxurious treat!
Best hotel grounds, best hotel bar, best hotel room with a view, best staff!!! Would love to stay again if we are ever back in the Algarve.
Beauiful setting, lovely facilities, spotless and clean . The extra costs for things and price of food/drink seemed steep and unnecessary. We compensated by using external restaurants in the near location and local towns.
Great relaxed vibe, would return. Very good facilities.
Nice hotel but too big and too many children. Food was very average and completely overpriced. Breakfast area had an ant infestation. Worst of all was the staff service and attitude. We asked for a quiet pool area and were given directions but after walking for nearly 15 minutes to get there we found it had no towels or toilets so walked all the way back. When we asked why we weren’t told this the unbelievable reply from Nuno was “You didn’t ask”, no concern or sorry you had to walk in blazing hot sunshine for half an hour. Trying to book tickets for the Summer Ball was a joke, concierge staff had no clue. Three times we thought we had booked tickets, only to be called in our room to be summoned to reception to pay for them. Even then they couldn’t find the tickets initially when we turned up at the event. No pool attendants meant children and adults diving in and other rule breaches, just awful. More 3 star than 5 star.
Beautiful outlook to the sea and just a short but seeep walk to a sandy beach. Different pools and restaurants to choose from. One pool has swim up bar where the amazing barman Ivan will make you any cocktail and even play your music requests.
Food could be better quality
Over rated and over priced
Great stay. Staff so helpful - felt well looked after. Excellent gym and indoor pool/spa. Excellent breakfast. Corda cafe good. Small negatives - Lot of steps to the beach and some restaurants very expensive. Would definitely come back though.
Cliffs are incredible and the walk to the beach is magical.
Very well looked after by all the staff and lovely room and facilities . Definitely felt luxurious.
Large area's to relax through the day, many people prefer the grassed area's, rather than the pool. We stayed in the hotel, its set out, designed, without long uniformed corridors. The beach is long, with high cliffs & beautiful colours
Location is amazing. Stunning gardens, cliffs and beach.
Beautiful setting but noisy nights
Comfortable room and a beautiful setting. The beach is a short walk away and is also lovely but again they are cashing I. At the Mare Cafe and they charge extra for the loungers on the rooftop (can’t really understand why). Restaurants are overpriced, as is the spa. The room was very comfortable but disappointingly 2/3 nights we were disturbed by a noisy bar within the resort close by. This went on until 2am one night and after 3am the next night. Bad layout in terms of ensuring rest and relaxation. Wasn’t exactly going for the club 18-30 thing. Doesn’t really match the 5* experience I would expect and have had elsewhere.
I loved the location - stunning views, proximity to the beach. Layout of sun beds by the pool and around the gardens I didn’t like the fact that you required to wear a cap in the indoor pool Also the fitness classes were not complimentary. We’ve stayed in many 5 star resorts where Yoga/Pilates were FOC. There was an overall lack of trust I felt - you needed to pay a deposit for an umbrella refundable on return and the beach towling system was strange.
The property was amazing it was all things to all you could be fit and exercise or lazy and enjoy the sun. The beach was a short walk the grounds were beautifully kept and all the areas were immaculately clean. Sometimes I felt more staff would have been a bonus and the general bar could do with cheering up its very dull.
Amazing resort
Amazing resort. Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, good food and amazing beach access.
Pristine properties and luxurious hotel. Low season therefore most amenities were not available but still enjoyed our stay
Wonderful hotel will recommend anyone to stay there
This is one of my favourite hotels ever. The facilities are amazing and the hotel is luxurious and spotlessly clean. My only reservation this year was that our stay was at the end of the season and some facilities were restricted.
This is a truly nice resort on every level. It is great for kids. The location and scenery is breathtaking. The beach is perfect and expect to spend many hours there if you have kids. The tennis coaches are really nice. The golf course has some incredible holes. The only complaint would be that the restaurants fill up, but luckily there are many places to eat just outside the complex. Next time I will stay in a villa because I have kids. As this was our first time there, we stayed in the hotel to be safe. The villas looked amazing and have room service and cleaning staff so the extra space, kitchen, and washing machine would be very welcome.
Outstanding resort for sporty families though it does not have an exclusive ‘feel’ to it. Excellent gym and spa; very good golf practice facility. The golf course itself looked very crowded. Good recommendations for local restaurants from concierge; taxis extremely comfortable and always on time. Swimming pools very cold! One slight complaint- music continues to play in the hotel lobby throughout the night and the hotel is very echoey! I phoned reception at 3 in the morning to ask them to turn it off and could even hear the phone ring from our room!
As good as ever. Upgrade room. Lovely breakfast . Convenient to beach.
Amazing hotel. Beautiful grounds and excellent service from the staff. We will be back!
Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Clean rooms and pool areas. Great views, so far it’s the best beach I have visited in the algarve. Our first holiday without our children so this was a little bit of luxury. Breakfast buffet had lots to choose from. The restaurants were quite expensive, and we found the food at the Corda Cafe a lot nicer than the Piri Piri Steakhouse. We were disappointed with the quality of the food there as our expectations were high. A great holiday we would definitely recommend.
Poor Management
There is a long queue for breakfast which may take at least half an hour standing, no matter age, kids, etc. The hotel was full, but they have to manage this situation and not make people wait. Never seen this in a 5 star hotel in my life. There were ants in our room, no need to make further comments.
Nice hotel , well maintained
Beautiful location, nice clean beach, well maintained gardens . Spacious rooms, modern bathroom. Good hotel for total relaxation . Access to beach difficult for people with walking difficulty, no access for disabled.
Great resort with bundle of anenities
Room is ok but small for price. TV had internet problems
Relaxing surroundings close to beach
Beautiful hotel in landscaped gardens close to a wonderful beach. There is a lift or steps and short walk to the beach. The breakfast is very good but otherwise the restaurants are quite expensive. There are good local restaurants nearby. Hotel staff are friendly, rooms are comfortable. The swimming pools and hotel environment are really attractive and well maintained. We can't wait to go back!
Ten Stars!
Everything was perfect! We will return!
Not a happy stay other than it was short.
We had a delux suite which was fine once we got there, by way of several long corridors down many steps and slopes. Dinner was a disaster. We had to get our own cutlery off another table, napkins were provided at the end of our meal my food was cold and my husbands not great, The suite is over £700 per night, we left straight after we had showered the next day my husband in particular did not want to stay any longer than necessary. This was particularly sad as the stay was a birthday present for my husband.
Staff are nice. Breakfast could be better. Close to beach .
Nice hotel on the beach however there are a few details that could detracted from our overall experience. For example, the food service on the beach was disappointing (waiters do not come around to take your order, very slow service at the restaurant, etc) and there is too much competition for the loungers on the beach. Overall, the resort just felt a bit too crowded and hectic as there is sometimes a line for breakfast and many restaurants do not have availability for dinner.
Great hotel and location
It’s great location, spectacular view, modern hotel and facilities, the only problem is overcrowd in middle of August, the rest is amazing. Sure that the best time is June - July and September
Nice resort but...
It was all in all a nice resort but not a 5 star experience. The staff are nice and that’s great but there aren’t enough sun loungers by the pools or the beach for the number of guests. Service is very slow at peak times. It makes the experience not that relaxing. The food on the restaurants is good but it is very experience and poor value. Overall yes it was nice but not good value. The cost did not translate to the experience.
Highly recommend
Outstanding service throughout, staff could not be more helpful.
Check your bill
Staff poorly trained - check-in and check-out take forever, food in restaurants idem. Better use a credit card to pay for everything you use then have lots of mistakes and phantom charges in your final bill
Very poor staff. 3 star experience in a 5 star setting.
Beautiful grounds, excellent food. The breakfast buffet was an array of good food Staff at front desk were helpful.
a resort abundant with screaming children
When we pulled into the resort, we were immediately greeted by a bellhop who insisted to re-park our car. He moved it one spot next to where I had parked and moved our small luggages into our room. For these unnecessary services, I felt pressured to pay a tip and he parted with five euros and a big smile. The room itself was a decent size with a view of the courtyard. The tile floors and the decoration were typical of the Algarve region and the bathroom was quite spacious with a proper tub and a separate shower. We had another friend join us last minute and they sent a housekeeping person to convert the sofa bed. It was 75$ extra for each night and the sofa bed was not comfortable at all with the middle of the bed sinking and my back precariously and uncomfortably hanging. The compound itself was a gorgeous place with a beach access down an outside elevator. The champagne bar overlooking the bluff is not to be missed right around sunset and its multiple pools made up for still chilly ocean water. What really destroyed the mood, unfortunately, was not the fault of the hotel. By the outdoor elevator, a fleet of strollers were parked. The screaming babies were littering the beach and their domestic pestilence was not well contained in all spaces. Breakfast area, in the morning, even with its free flowing champagne, could not drown out the whines and screaming of children all under the age of five.
Excellent hotel but restaurant dining expensive , one meal being particularly poor quality
A beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings, the staff couldn't have been more accomodating. A wonderful place to escape to. Sam
Excellent
Fantastic hotel and Resort, can’t wait to go back.
pure bliss
Great to stay in the hotel - all very clean, lovely balcony. Only issue is that sound travels from other rooms/restaurant below.
Very comfortable, and spread out resort. Many options to choose from for eating, swimming and other activities. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Prices were "reasonable" for what you get, except for the Pescadora. Dinner for three, with wine and starters came out to 300 Euro, and while the food was good, it was certainly not Michelin-level. Pools were very clean and well kept. We went in May, right as the season began, and while there were many tourists, it wasn't overwhelming. I was surprised to see so many young children, which was not what we wanted. Overall, satisfied, but I'm sure it's super busy in the peak of tourist season. It would be nice if they could separate adults and children a bit.
Feels like you are being spoilt with all the attention they give you! If you have an early flight, breakfast can be taken at 6am - that wasn't made clear.
Good views, facilities and very comfortable room
Room had everything and exceptionally comfortable bed. Deluxe suite had two bathrooms, balacony with loungers, coffee machine. Two small things - not enough milk given to make coffee. Resort big with poor info where to find things. Amazing spa with couple massage and private suite with jacuzzi sauna steam room. Well worth the price to get a luxurious treatment with champagne and use of these facilities privately. Beach restaurant very good local food and friendly waiters. Beach lovely and fairly quiet at end of April. Overall well worth the high price to get top end luxury.
We can’t wait to go back!
Friendly staff, cleanness of room and property, elegant aroma, excellent food. They had it all!
Gorgeous location, but...
The Resort is amazing. The Room and the experience overall was so so... We stayed in a Duplex Suite, up and downstairs rooms. The automatic AC/Heat system just could not get the right temperature on both floors of our suite. Nice downstairs, freezing upstairs, then nice upstairs, hot downstairs. It was crazy--we ended up setting the downstairs for 21C and the upstair for 26C and it was a compromise right at about 22C both places. Then there was the smoking problem. We smelled strong cigarette smoke a few times and thought maybe someone had smoked in our room before we got there and the system was blowing it out. After the third time, we called the front desk. The staff ran around and found the guilty party, just above us. The resort is a non-smoking hotel so the smokers were chastised -- but then the staff ask us if WE WOULD LIKE TO MOVE ROOMS! We said, hey move the smokers, we shouldn't have to be inconvenienced because THEY broke the rules. The resort itself is amazing, and the indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym, restaurants, lobby, outdoor setting and beach, outdoor pools, golf course, etc, etc, as truly 5-star. Gorgeous. Too bad the other problems kinda spoiled it for us.
Relaxing during tempest storms
Great visit, despite the rainy weather. Every aspect of the stay was positive. The only issue was the closure of the food service in the main level bar. The bright breakfast room certainly lacked atmosphere for dinner - so we left the grounds to eat.
nice hotel room , unsatisfactory front desk
We stayed in the ocean suite from 23rd to 27th October 2017 . The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated to a high standard. The resort was large and there are lots of facilities. The gym and indoor swimming pool are good and not crowded. The staffs in the restaurants are friendly and helpful. However , the management has great rooms for improvement: 1) the dishes in the buffet restaurant, Jardim Colonial, are not very clean. We noted that there are stains on the dishes on several occasion. 2) On the morning on departure, we checked out and the front desk staff asked us to leave our 3 pieces of luggage beside the pillar in front of the front desk. We then went for breakfast. When we came back after breakfast, we found that one of our luggage was missing. We told the reception, and she asked us to wait and someone is taking back the suitcase to us. In fact nothing was done. We then asked another staff and got the same reply. After 20min and talking to 3 staffs repeatedly, we found that our missing suitcase was put in the cloak room beside the reception. During that 20minutes , nobody was actually going away from the front desk into the cloak room to find for us. We were puzzled why only one of the suitcase was being taken inside, why noone knew, and why noone try to find out for us what happened. Luckily we could still managed to catch the taxi to the airport on time. We really think that the management should train their staffs to tackle the unexpected situations.
The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much effort. Food & Facilities were immaculate and as a solo traveller I felt extremely at ease. Will definitely go back!
