Excellent location, EXCELLENT SERVICE, excellent ambiance.
Short relaxed break
Totally brilliant stay - everything great from start to finish. Great place to relax and chill out and my room was exceptional. My only disappointment was leaving!!
So happy with this hotel choice. I would stay here again. Loved that you can swim directly into the ocean. 💕
We loved staying here. Everyone was friendly. Fabulous location with amazing ocean views. Excellent dining options and facilities. Would definitely stays here again.
Lido Loveliness
I genuinely enjoyed my stay in a smaller, but no less convenient, outpost of the Pestana chain, which I am loyal to as one of the best hotel groups in Portugal—a superb refurbishment. The food is great, and the ambience is quiet and restored. The staff are helpful and kind.
Has a good location, very clean ,good breakfast, good service. Highly recommended.
Fantastic location on the ocean and nearby collection of restaurants.
This place is must if you are staying in Madeira location view service every thing is 5 star
This property is a lovely sea side property. You can open your patio door and hear the waves (very peaceful). The property has a spectacular breakfast which you can book with your room. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The housekeeping is daily unless you decide otherwise. The staff go above and beyond trying to assist with all of your needs. Truly a great experience with this Hotel - would come again.
Lovely newly renovated hotel. Bedrooms were a good size and light and airy. Lots of choice at breakfast and great pool and sunbathing area.
Wonderful resort
Beautiful setting on the ocean with ready access to dining and shopping. Bountiful breakfast buffet with a friendly and helpful staff. Only issues were VERY firm beds (for which they provided a helpful pad) and a ceiling light that randomly turned on during the night (maintenance ultimately removed the bulb). All in all a wonderful place to stay.
Excellent location and well maintained.
We enjoyed our 9 night stay at this hotel. Very welcoming. Room spacious, bed ok. Maid service excellent. Breakfast good choice but orange juice could be improved.
Beautifully located near the ocean. Didn't quite like the shower set up....water kept coming out of the tub.
A great location to enjoy ocean sounds and swimming, the center of Lido with all it's restaurants and for us a great view of the harbor and fireworks on NYE.
Good holiday here
We had a Superior Studio. It was a well designed room with a nice balcony looking out over the sea. The cutlery & crockery was a bit too exact for a studio, only 2 of everything so we had to wash up several times a day. There was no toaster, but reception soon found one for us. The wifi in the room was bad room non-existant. We had to go to reception to get a decent signal. But overall we had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location was exactly where we wanted to be with many great restaurants nearby.
The waves crashing against the shore in bed was fab. Great location. No air conditioning though and only found out when I came in after supper. It needed new batteries, nothing more, grrrrr
Pestana Palms
Location of Pestana Palms is fantastic, great views from balcony and breakfast area.Plenty of room around the pool and sunbeds readily available at all times.Great access to the sea from the pool area.Would highly recommend.
We liked the hotel’s location by the sea very much.
Excellent apart from advertised cooking facilities, one saucepan and that was it, no frying pan or spatula etc. A member of staff advised me that this was to encourage visitors to use the restaurant. Apart from that very good.
Room lovely it’s only fault balcony was in shade no sun after 10am which made it quite cold at this time of year February.
Highly recommended
Fantastic location Friendly staff Great value
Location is fantastic and reception is quick to sort any issues. The property however needs renovation, the carpet on the lobby use to Give out odour every now and then.
The sea view from the room was wonderfully relaxing. The staff were very helpful and one chap on the reception could have designed an entire week on what to do and see on the island. We used the car park which was never a problem with space but even if full, the pay during the day one opposite was priced very reasonably. The hotel catering in the bar area was very good and the hotel offers a great base for eating in the locality should you prefer- be aware however that there is something of a slope outside if mobility is a problem-.
Excellent location- very close to the ocean, on west side of Funchal; good choice of places to eat very close by; can walk into the centre of Funchal in 20-25 minutes; Enjoyed ocean and pool view from our balcony Beautifully landscaped gardens with water features Heated pool, good size, plenty of sun beds
Relaxing stay in a fantastic location
We just arrived back from a one week stay at the Pestana Palms Aparthotel Funchal and have to say that for us everything about the hotel was just perfect. Positioned within lovely gardens right at the seafront, with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean via some steps (if you dare), the views are just amazing. While some other reviews have stated that the rooms are a bit "dated" looking we were perfectly happy with it. The fact that the room was spacious (with plenty of storage space), clean, comfortable and above all had a balcony with fantastic sea views was far more important to us than the decor. The daily breakfast at the restaurant was delicious and plentiful, with a great variety of choice for different tastes and preferences. The saltwater pool and surrounding area were nice and clean, with sun loungers available free of charge and parasols for a small fee. The location of the hotel could not have been better. With the promenade right on your doorstep there were lots of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from, as well as a large Supermarket just across the road. A nice stroll in the other direction takes you into the heart of Funchal and to the Marina in approx. 20 minutes. We will definitely stay at this hotel a again if we come back to Madeira and recommend it to anybody who wants a peaceful and relaxing break, while having easy access to shops, restaurants etc.
The hotel is beautifully situated by the sea. Has magnificent views. It has a lovely pool. The gardens are very well kept and very tropical.
Fabulous 3 nights in tower hotel with breakfast
We stayed 3 night's and had a fabulous superior room that looked straight out to sea! Very comfortable beds and couldn't have slept better. The sun was on balcony from morning till around 4.00 in afternoon. The one strange thing was one very large saucepan but no utensils to cook with. Waste of time putting this in cupboard? We had excellent buffet breakfast every morning and couldn't have asked for more as everything you could think of. Would certainly book again.
Great hotel
Amazing location
Beautiful views and a great location
It’s a privilege to stay in this iconic building with its distinctive round shape. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a relaxing balcony and a convenient kitchenette for making tea and coffee or snacks, with a fridge. The buffet breakfast is excellent with something to suit everyone and food freshly prepared. There are two restaurants on site plus the Pool Bar for cooked lunches. We had afternoon tea in the beautiful, historic Quinta which is the central point of the site and separate from the hotel. It is a very interesting and well maintained building with a bar and restaurant on the ground floor and a library as well as a roof terrace. This building is worth a visit. The hotel is next to the Lido area where there is a great choice of restaurants
Room nice and quiet with uninterrupted sea view.................
A room with a view
We had a wonderful sea view. The room was large, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast on the balcony was a delight and one morning we were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins swim by.
Good hotel in great position.
The hotel is well positioned, with a 20 minute walk into Funchal centre (hilly) but right on the coast with some great restaurants close by. Each room overlooks the sea with great views. The on site restaurant is good, and deal days good value. The rooms are basic but well maintained and comfortable. Overall good and enjoyable stay. There is a nice walk along the promenade away from Funchal that if you continue for an hour or so, takes you to a lovely fishing port. Car parking was free.
Pleasant hotel and great location.
Pleasant hotel and great location on the sea front, pool looked good did not use as it was January. The gym is out of date. Breakfast excellent.
Lovely resort. Hotel staff friendly & efficient. Room spacious and clean but tired & in need of decoration. Very good breakfast buffet.
Pure 4 star hotel with beautiful pool
Ideal hotel with fab views of the Atlantic. Only minor annoyance was that the guest computer had no documents or Word to write with!
great view
fantastic location and view from room. Generally faultless but a huge negative for us was the kitchenette. Almost impossible to cook with such minimal facilities and we had to eat out every night which wasn't planned.
Like having a balcony cabin on a cruise without the movement. Easy access to sea. Wonderful breakfast Only disappointment was the candlelight dinner. Not enough atmosphere- room to bright. Other evening meals in bistro were excellent
An Excellent Stay
Lovely quiet hotel right on the sea front. Breakfasts were excellent. Rooms are spacious and all have seaviews. There are plenty of restaurants nearby for the evening as I don't recommend the hotel as it is expensive and lacks atmosphere. Word of caution for those less active and infirm, when walking to local shops and bus stop, there is steep hill outside the hotel. So in all an excellent stay.
Great hotel, would definitely return
Hotel is right by the sea, great breakfast and great pool. Customer service was beyond expectation - there was a problem with our air conditioning and as there were no other rooms available, Filipe secured us an upgraded room in another Pestana hotel nearby which was very much appreciated. Would definitely return.
Perfect Location
Location of the Pestana Palms is right on the coast with direct access to the sea. We had a one bed apartment which was very spacious. The kitchen facilities were minimal (2 ring stove, fridge and sink). The inclusive breakfast was superb - good quality food and a very good selection. The pool area was well maintained as were the gardens. The reception staff all spoke a very high standard of English.
Great hotel
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff went out of their way to serve and make us feel welcome. All rooms seem to have a balcony overlooking the sea which was wonderful. Looking forward to returning.
Sunrise from the balcony.
Great location over the edge of the sea. Room fine, with fridge and mini kitchen, safe and balcony from which to watch the sunrise. Breakfast on the restaurant terrace every day - lovely fresh fruit, local cheese, bread and pastries as well as German and cooked breakfasts. Day trips can be arranged at reception, or at other local outlets. Be aware that you will be offered a reduced price on trips if you agree to do a tour of another hotel/ apartment with opportunities to buy so many weeks. No hard sell, but it takes time out of your holiday. Maybe worth it for the reduction you get. Lots of restaurants nearby, not all great but plenty to choose from, of varying cuisines including Indian and Italian. It's worth walking west along the seafront.
Good location, friendly staff
This was our second visit to this hotel and again we had a really good experience. The facilities are good, the staff friendly and if you don't mind a walk, you can get into the centre of Funchal in 30 mins. The breakfasts are fantastic - all tastes catered for. The small kitchenette in the room is so convenient for those evenings you don't feel like eating out. Perfect for anyone who wants a relaxed holiday.
Lovely hotel. Staff brilliant.
The staff were excellent. Facilities around the hotel were very good. Cooking facilities within the room were very limited and meals in the hotel though very good were expensive. I would recommend this Hotel simply because all the staff went over and above expectation.
Great Location, Great Breakfast, Ok-ish Condition
Pestana Palms hotel is located about 45 minutes walk from the center of Funchal in the middle of the hotel district. You can get the "aerobus" direct from the airport to just up the road (ask for the stop "Lido", I believe that's stop 14 or 15). The location is really great. There are loads of shops, bars and restaurants around. The walk down Estrada Monumental into town is perfectly lovely. Also, pretty much the whole hotel has unobstructed ocean views, as the hotel is located right on the coast. Waking up and watching the sun rise over the Atlantic from your balcony is alone worth choosing this hotel for. The breakfast is really amazing. Loads of choice, high-quality, fresh food and a great dining environment. The staff are absolutely amazing. Sit on the balcony! The one thing that was slightly disappointing was that some of the hotel interiors are a little tired. Our room furnishings seemed old and well worn (although spotlessly clean). The carpet looked shabby, the bath and shower were very worn and the general feel of the place was not very 'fresh'. Our double bed was also two singles pushed together. Even the reception area seems a little tired. Also the gym is absolutely useless, so forget about getting a work-out. But the hotel is unarguably well maintained. The gardens are lovely, the staff are extremely helpful with everything and speak excellent English and German. Ultimately this is a good hotel for most people, just don't expect super-luxurious room!
Very pleased with our choice and would come again.
Very comfortable hotel with good onsite facilities. Staff clearly well known to the regular customers and providing a good service. Outside pool warmed to perfection. Helped by good sunshine over the Christmas and New Year period. Ideally situated for the promenade and many good restaurants. Steep hill for 200 metres up to the main road.
Great place to stay
This is a comfortable hotel in a great location down by the Lido in Funchal (we think it is!). We have stayed here on many occasions and will visit it again. It's not too far to walk into Funchal (approx 1.8km) and in the other direction there is the walk along the seafront which goes for miles if you want to go that far. There are buses into Funchal and elsewhere from the road above the hotel if you don't fancy walking. There are many other hotels in the locality and lots of restaurants to choose from nearby too. The hotel staff are excellent and friendly, the gardens are nice. There is a good pool and from the sunbathing area there are steps down to the sea so you can swim in it if you choose to. It is a good hotel for couples and groups of older people because it is quite quiet during the day. There isn't a lot for children to do and the clientele tends to be older people rather than families with active children (as opposed to very small children). The breakfast has a huge choice on offer. If you can't find anything you like, you probably never eat breakfast! To be fair, the rooms, which are all large and have sea views, could probably do with updating but they are very clean and comfortable. There is a small kitchenette in each room with two rings and a kettle but not much to use with it and cooking a meal would be difficult, if not impossible, but I don't really think they expect you to.
Excellent hotel
From the first day to the last everything was excellent, all staff very helpful and friendly, room spacious and cleaned every day, breakfast very good with lots of choice, pool area clean with plenty of sunbeds available. Would recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel- charming and great location!
We had a fabulous time! The hotel is charming and we had a great room overlooking the ocean. We were upgraded which was a pleasant surprise. The promenade walk is beautiful and for the best fish go to Barqueiro Restaurant off of the promenade. The staff was very helpful! We also walked to downtown Funchal and old section of town- make sure you walk to old part- Street Santa Catarina. Breakfast at hotel was excellent and with great views of the coastline.
Hotel with excellent sea views
Enjoyable stay at great hotel. Breakfast buffet excellent as were staff. Room very clean and comfortable. Taxis available outside hotel, supermarket across road and variety of good restaurants within walking distance. Would stay here again
Lovely hotel
Good location, good facilities, great rooms with decent views over the sea towards Funchal or of the sea and pool area. Terrific breakfast. A very nice pool area and lovely pool. Easy travel into Funchal centre. The area round the hotel has loads of restaurants which we found excellent.
Lovely hotel in beautiful gardens and by the sea.
We had a very pleasant stay although we were surprised to have only a standard room when we thought we had booked superior. All rooms are the same just on higher floors and because we has been 4 times before. we were given a lovely room just overlooking the sea. Its really nice to be able to make snacks in the daytime as there is a small kitchen area and there is also a very comfortable sitting area. will return again.
Superb hotel overlooking the sea.
We stayed for a week in the aparthotel and enjoyed a week of luxury. Everything about this hotel was first class and the staff were wonderful, going out of their way to serve you and make you feel welcome. We had to mark it down because the kitchenette was inadequate. It was impossible to cook your own meal. Two electric rings were provided along with only one large pan. Two small tea plates and cups were in the cupboard and very few utensils were included.
Great location and excellent facilities
We had a great week at the Pestana Palms - I really couldn't fault it. The staff were extremely helpful and the facilities excellent. The location - lovely sea views and yet within walking distance of the city centre - made it perfect for us. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and the supermarket across the road made it so easy to pick up snacks and drinks if we wanted to relax in our room. The room itself was spacious with plenty of comfortable seating as well as a super King sized bed! Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxed holiday but with facilities on hand.
Excellent experience
Great location. Staff fantastic. Views from balcony are magnificent. Grounds and gardens immaculate. Breakfast was extremely pleasant.
great hotel, great position
Much better than we were expecting, lovely staff, spacious comfortable room with fabulous view over the sea to the town. Great position and overall couldn't be faulted. We had a lovely restful week and will go back.
Nice friendly hotel
Lovely hotel with really pleasant staff. It's right next to the sea, has a nice pool and a pool bar/cafe. It's kept very clean everywhere. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. There's a separate building with another bar, a small library and places to sit and a games room. It has a lovely garden and they also have a nice cat!
Lovely hotel in a great location.
Had two great weeks at the Pestana Palms Hotel. The room was brilliant, the staff lovely and the breakfasts delicious. Thank you Pestana Palms! Top class!
Very relaxing all staff polite and helpful.
Had a terrible nose bleed one night and made a mess of bedclothes , and reception very caring and cleaner was very kind when I apologised as I felt embarrassed.
Great Location, Good Hotel
Probably the best located hotel in Madeira for the sea the Pestana Palms is a good comfortable hotel with lovely staff and comfortable rooms. We really enjoyed 2 weeks here and even though the pool area can get a little busy the whole hotel seems pleasantly calm. Buffet breakfasts are good so I would recommend that option. The only negative was the gym - not well equipped and needs an urgent upgrade.
great location
Lovely hotel, although the bathrooms are in need of bit of an upgrading but overall very pleasant. Our rooms were facing the sea so the views were fantastic. There are many bars and restaurants around the hotel so you have a wide choice of food. Also the bus stop is only 3 minutes up the hill and there are 3 bus services that takes you right into the old part of Funchal and the marina... . Breakfast at the hotel was very good with a great choice of local fresh fruits, cereals, breads , full english breakfast, cheeses and so on..we loved Madeira and we hope to go back there one day.
Everything was wonderful!
We stayed in a room which had a balcony overlooking the sea with a fantastic view of the harbour. The room was spacious and the kitchenette was a bonus. Cleaning staff came in every date to change the beds and towels. Great service. The hotel facilites outmatched the price we paid to stay there. The pool was quite large and there were plenty of places to relax. The food served for the buffet breakfast was unbeatable. Have never had such a vast choice. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night and had 2 courses for 19 euros which was great value. If you wish to self cater, there is a large supermarket across the road where you can stock up on tasty fresh food. Next to this are four or five good restaurants and a couple of gift shops to browse around. Madeira is a place where you can be as adventurous or as relaxed as you please. There are hill walks and jeep safaris for those who want a bit of action, plenty of nice shops, gardens and museums to stroll around or you can sit in a quiet spot round the pool if you want to relax. Due to the location of the island in the Atlantic Ocean, you can see all types of weather in a day but the sun stays there most of the time. Have not had an Easter break abroad from some years but it's definitley something I would like to do again.
Very good roooms
Very good rooms and a great breakfast
A really special hotel - right on the beach
Seeing the picture of the hotel - the tower - you already expect something special. I had booked two double rooms - and my wish was to have them side by side - with common balcony if possible. We got an excellent upgrade to a suite on eight floor (room 815) with two sleeping rooms with separate bathrooms and a common kitchen/living area - and three really big balconies. Stayed there for ten days - great service/cleaning - and excellent breakfast as well. Supermarket with everything you like is just on the other side of the road - and if you have a rental care there are some free places in the back of the hotel. Our room was facing south west and had the morning sun - until 3 PM - if you would like more sun you just took the elevator to ground floor - to the swimming pool. Great stay !!
Everything was almost perfect. Quiet friendly with good amenities close at hand. just a small comment regarding the shower - quite difficult to control flow/temperature - it had to be set each time and took some time to master.
Lovely clean hotel in great position
We have had a most enjoyable stay at Pestana Palms. Our room was spacious & comfortable & cleaned every day. It was an easy walk into Funchal centre, about 30 minutes, but anyone with walking difficulties would find the hill from the hotel to the main road a bit steep. You could get a bus on the main road if you wish but they do get a bit crowded, there are plenty of taxi cabs & minibuses.
comfort & convenience
from pick-up at airport to return everything was very easy ,punctual and everyone was very friendly and helpful.madeira was quiet and although obviously for tourists looked cleaner and more modern than spain.local people were very friendly and helpful about buses etc.car hire would be best for independent visits around the island though there are dozens of firms offering halfday and fullday vists, walks etc.with guides at reasonable costs.restricted options for cycling as roads are narrow, busy and incredibly steep but there are guided cycle tours etc.overall,a very good experience.best alround service we've ever had.
Excelent facilities, wonderful food.
We enjoyed our stay at Pestana Palms. We exchanged our timeshare for the first week of our stay and booked the extra four nights tgrough Expedia. We were in the apartments for the first week, which was fine as it was an exchange, but we were disappointed not to be booked into the hotel tower for our four nights as this is the part that is shown in all the photographs and we had really been lloking forward to the exceptional sea views. Instead we were given a different room in the appartment block. Nothing wrong with the room and although the view across the garden to the sea was picturesc it was not what we thought we had asked for. So our advice, be specific when booking about where you want your room. Otherwise the facilities were fine. Compared to many modern hotels it was quite 'oldie worldie'; the detective series Poirot' could easily be filmed here without many changes. This made it more presonable and pleasant. The option to swim in the sea was great as was the catering. Breakfast was an indulgence not to be missed. One big minus for the techies amongst you is the wifi access. That really needs sorting as it was so finiky it was annoying and time consuming to try and connect (should you feel the need for internet access). Overall a very pleasant, relaxing stay with genuinely pleasant staff.
Excellent hotel with excellent facilities,
The hotel was very good, you can either swim in the pool or in the sea. The WiFi was frustrating, in that everytime you wanted to use it you were required to log in. Make sure your are feeling fit as the walk up the hill from the hotel to the main road into Funchal is somewhat steep.
Fab holiday
Booked for 10 days at this hotel and really enjoy the location. Hotel clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.
Excellent
An excellent hotel, superb view. Breakfast had anything and everything you could have ever wanted.
Lovely Madeira!
As long as you don't mind being about 30 minutes walk from the centre of Funchal, this hotel is perfect. There are lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance so that wasn't a problem for us. The rooms were clean and spacious with lovely sea views. The bar served really nice cocktails with a 40% discount during happy hour - from 5 till 7. Breakfast didn't change much from day to day but I don't mind that. I could have done with it finishing later than 10am as I like a lie in on holiday. Madeira is a one of the most beautiful places we have been to and we would love to go back.
We have now been to Maderira 3 times and each time have used a hotel from the Pestana group. This one is the best so far. Lovely setting and surroundings, nice and quiet with relaxing gardens. Beautiful views over the sea. Our room was in the 'tower' on the sea front. Rooms were spotless, service was fantastic. Staff very helpful where nothing was too much of a problem, they were curtious and very friendly. The restaruant for breakfast was overlooking the sea and you could sit inside or outside, again very clean with a great selection of food. The fact that we had a room with kitchenette was a bonus as we were able to pop over the road to the supermarket and buy snacks or enjoy a bottle of wine on the balcony. All in all a very relaxing (and needed) holiday!
Clean, comfortable hotel in a great position!
Hotel is in a great position on the sea front. Able to access the sea from the pool deck, water calm and clear, ideal for snorkelling. Pool area large and very clean. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. It was cleaned every day and was spotless. Plenty of choice at the breakfast buffet, and lots of nearby restaurants to choose from. Easy walk into the main town about 30 minutes away, but only 6 euros by taxi. Supermarket next door to hotel with large choice of items. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only minus point is the lack of free WiFi in the rooms. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Lovely quiet hotel
The hotel was good and met our expectations. The bedroom was large and comfortable, the bathroom sparkling clean and a good size. We particularly liked having so many coathangers in the spacious wardrobe. Beautiful views over the sea to the horizon and an amazing sunrise, but the noise of the sea on the rocks below the balcony disturbed the sleep of my friend the first night, so the Reception staff very helpfully moved us the next morning to a room at the far side overlooking the pool, which she found much quieter. However, I think the sea noise would only be a problem to anyone who is an exceptionally light sleeper, it didn't bother me at all. Some nights we could hear what sounded like a giant cistern being filled somewhere close, which was a bit annoying, we couldn't work out where it was coming from, but it diminished in volume after a while and wasnt really much of a problem. Excellent breakfast buffet selection, ate far too much as it was all too tempting!
Lovely hotel
Absolutely loved this hotel. Mostly because of its location - right on top of the sea - and design (large floor to ceiling windows made the most of the stunning views, every room overlooked the sea) but also because the staff were so friendly and helpful. A nice 30 minute walk into Funchal (though all of Madeira is hilly so some steep parts to the walk!). Our 2 year old was made to feel very welcome, and having a small kitchen area in our room was especially helpful with a toddler (not spectacularly well equipped, but enough to heat some food or make a sandwich). We hired a car for a couple of days and the hotel had parking free of charge which was useful. We hope to return!
Wonderful stay!
Wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were amazingly friendly and by the end of the week all knew our sons name! It was very useful having the kitchenette in the room - especially with a toddler in tow.The only slight disappointment was that the pool out of action following a bad storm. We were offered use of another Hotel pool but it was a bit of a walk away and we were feeling lazy! Oh yes, and the breakfasts and views were out of this world!
Excellent hotel for all the family.
A lovely, friendly hotel with everything you could need - every room had a sea view. Mini kitchen for making drinks, with fridge for milk, wine etc. Lots of space in the room. Delicious full breakfasts every morning - cheerful restaurant staff. Helpful, friendy reception staff Situated in lovely gardens with private carpark and remote controlled gates - supermarket opposite, shops and restaurants - everything you could need. Short walk to local buses into Funchal. My only gripe was the fact that there was only one way out from the hotel if driving, and at the top of the road the view to the left was always blocked by double-decker tour buses. Once you had negotiated that obstacle, you then had to drive eastwards towards Funchal before finding somewhere to turn round if you wanted to go westwards.
Ocean side and on your side.
Exceptional staff, very friendly, professional and a credit to this hotel. The people who served breakfast were brilliant,Rooms cleaned and tidied and towels changed every day, beds changed also.Everone we came across who worked there were simply good decent people who look like they care about there work and there guests. The breakfast was lovely with everything anyone would want at breakfast. The only thing i didnt like was paying for broadband,i mentioned it to the front desk, who of course dont make the rules. It is a lovely place to be at the side of the ocean.
Good value 4 star hotel.
The hotel is well situated for buses to town and a good supermarket adjacent. Kitchen facilities in the room are very useful for preparing a light lunch or similar. Breakfast was superb with great sea views from the restaurant. Staff could not be more helpful. Beautiful well tended gardens all around.
Lovely Service
Large comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff. Brilliant breakfast in lovely surroundings. From the moment we arrived until the time we left we were made to feel welcome. It was a lovely lovely time
Very good choice
One of the most beautiful locations for a seaside resort. People who strolled allong the shores of the ocean always stopped to admire the view across the fence of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was absolutely copious and the staff (Paolo in particular) was outstanding.
Luxurious, Beautiful views, Relaxing atmosphere
This was an exceptionally high quality hotel, with beautiful surrounding gardens and directly on the ocean. We had ocean views from our balcony. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Evening buffet is a bit expensive, there are cheaper options if you go over the road to the Italian Restaurant where there was very good food. The outdoor swimming pool was refreshing and large enough for swimming laps. Jacuzzi, steam and sauna were also available at no extra charge. Live evening entertainment was available in the bar most evenings We had a car rental and there was free parking for the week. Madeira is a very beautiful island and this hotel is in a great location for spending the day by the ocean or venturing on tours up into the mountains. The plants and Palm trees were so beautiful. HIghly recommend this hotel. Our booking through Expedia was much cheaper than the actual hotel rates.
Perfectly situated in a quiet area of Funchal called the Lido with loads of restuarants and shops.
This round hotel seems to hang out over the sea, all the rooms have sea views, with balconies. The one downside was the free bus shuttle service into town was stopped permanently during the 3 weeks we were there. The stroll into Funchal only takes 30 minutes, and is a gentle walk, after the first 100 yards which is uphill, and there is a public bus service that costs only 1.2 euros. Infact there is a bus that goes all the way to Monte from 100 yards of the hotel for the same price. Far cheaper than the organised trips costing 15 euros. Best time to go is February for the Carnival and 2 weeks after Easter for the Flower Festival. We had brilliant sunny weather in February.
Lovely stay by the seaside
The service was excellent, friendly, warm, extremely helpful and with excellent sense of humour. Beautiful location by the sea. Excellent breakfast buffet. The facilities (gym, spa, pool...) modest but very well appointed. There is a small beach frequented by locals by the hotel so you can swim in the sea when you get tired of the pool. Our only disappointment was that the cooking facilities of the apartment were not of a "self-catering" standard: a few saucers and cups, one pot and little else. The hob had the fire alarm just over it (and no extractor fan) so the only time we attempted to cook something we were called from reception

good hotel
Tolle Aussicht
Great location
Nice location with fantastic sea view. Nice breakfast buffee. Pool area with access to the sea.
Nice stay
We stayed for week february 2024. Everything working perfect from arrival to departure. Professionel service from all staff. Breakfast buffet was very good. Never missing a thing.
Excelente ubicacion frente mar
Fantastisk fin plass. Utsikt over havet. Mange spisesteder
