Hotel grounds are gorgeous. If you have any accessibility needs it may not be a good fit for you as there are some steep parts of the resort and there’s a bit of walking to do to get around to the pool, etc. Really awesome location though! My room is as a bit on the older side but met my needs for a quick and basic stay.

The property was very nice and well located, but the rooms are average. Bathrooms could use some renovations and the rooms need a bit more decoration. There were no towels at all when I arrived and it took over 2 h to receive them. The internet wasn’t working well and my room was next to a loud bar… so location good but disappointed by the rest.

Bali 4 go travelling

We booked 3 night stay here as the reviews we good Location of the hotel is excellent fir walking around most of Ubud There is late night noise from the bars until midnight with live music if your room is located close to reception Lots of stairs to access the property too even if you book a ground floor room The rooms are basic with a tv from circa 1999 Wifi intermitente and poor signal strength- difficult if you need to get some work done The rooms are very old fashioned and a little run down They were not the cleanest we have stayed in either We Gad to was all the glasses and cups before we could use them Bath had no plug and didn’t drain properly Sockets in bath are all loose on the walls Large hone above the Aircon unit so not secure against bugs Large pool area at bottom of the property a bit of a walk uphill on way back Lots of monkeys in the morning so watch your belongings Overall a nice trip but let down by the property condition

Amazing location

The location is amazing. But folks with mobility issues should let the hotel know so that you are not placed in a room far from the lobby, which requires navigating steep steps and a couple sloping walkways. The front door of our suite took several tries to lock, the back door never locked. The toilet also ran continuously. But staff are lovely and the location is fabulous.

Private Villa 1 Bedroom- Inspect your villa first!

So disappointing… The one bedroom villas are quite pricey, but we are willing to pay for them. However, this has been the worst we’ve seen in Bali. We used the photos and text in Expedia as a guide to deciding to stay there. When checking into the villa for night one we had significant problems. No outdoor furniture on the balcony, missing sunbeds, no lounge as shown, no kettle, TV didn’t work, blinds were broken so didn’t close properly, no in room safe as advertised, no glasses. And bizarrely the fridge was in a cupboard and not plugged in, because there was no hole in the back of the cupboard for the cable to go through, so the cable couldn’t reach the plug. So we have to pull out the fridge and move it across the room to plug it in. Initially reception said “our marketing team must have had the old photos up”. Given we booked 3 months earlier, clearly not true. We suspect the villas were booked out and they just gave us one that was unfinished, hoping we wouldn’t complain. We were moved to a new villa the next day. All of the above problems or items missing were there. However…. Initially we noticed the safe was locked so we couldn’t store our valuables. Reception said they would solve but never did in the remaining three nights. So we didn’t tell them of the other issues as it was clear they didn’t care much. Air con simply doesn’t cool the room and would auto switch off every half hour so not even working as a fan. The private villa pool water wasn’t deep enough to re

Pros: Great price, beautiful property, amazing pool/poolside area and delicious breakfast (for price). Excellent location, on main road, close to main attractions. Friendly staff. Cons: took one star off bc room was not as clean as we would’ve liked. Also, our room was loud at night since it was right next to bar (but not all rooms were loud). Overall would recommend (especially at that price)!

The staff are kind and the villa garden is beautiful, but the rooms are the opposite. During the entirety of our stay, we had issues regarding the cleanliness and condition of our room. Bedding was old and never changed, towels/bedding had stains or smells, and the room was much more run down compared to the listing. In the end, we left our stay at Pertiwi a week early due to the above reasons. The villa had agreed to issue a refund for the unused nights for a fee but have since stopped replying to emails and calls completely, leaving me unable to receive a refund. Save your money and don't book here unless you want to be dissapointed.

The property looked like you were in the forest, I mean beautiful. But at night I always saw lizards in my room making noises (or not sure what animal made those sounds), then it was raining like for 70 hrs straight and I had a big leak in my out-resting area. The cleaning wasn't the best. They could do a better job in that area.

Have stayed several times and love the position of the hotel. Our room was quiet except for the sounds of running water and bird life and had beautiful views of the pool and grounds. AVOID!! HORRENDOUS.

HORRENDOUS. I would suggest people avoid this place. I was the only guest, the room smelt (as if there weren't enough to choose from, all of them!) People were there before I arrived and seemed to have left also. It felt unsafe, the rudest staff were on duty, peomises made by the owner to improve it turned out to be untrue. I packed up and left very quickly and Hotels.com has refused to refund ANY of the stay as apparently 'it can't contact the property', so no help there?! I was surprised by the total lack of help! Ill get a refund via my credit card. Disappointing however.

We’ve been coming to Bali fort ten years and The Pertiwi is by far our favourite hotel ! All of the staff are extremely kind and friendly ! The staff at the front desk always go out of there way to make us feel welcome . The hotel is perfectly located, lots of restaurants, shopping and Spas close by . I’m an early riser and love walking around at dawn . The ground are rugged and beautiful . You can’t help thinking , WOW !!! We’re staying in Bali for two mounts and definitely plan on coming back to the Pertiwi. Thank you for a wonderful week . See you soon ! Rob and Marlene from Canada 🇨🇦

THE BAD PART : I was very disappointed with the state of the private twin pool villa booked for four nights, Room 402. If this is the room the Bali King stayed in in 2002 it is in desperate need of refurbishment. For a start the back door to the room did not lock so the maintenance man came to fix the first day. The quality of the linen and pillows were in a bad state ie mouldy and smelled of bad mildew. As we are both asthmatics I made this known to the front desk and was told they did not have spare linen or pillows as it was a full house. We had to put tshirts on the pillows and could not sleep very well due to the horrid smell. The furniture was in disrepair and the mosquito net was soiled and had seen better days. The blinds next to the bed where broken and covered in dust. The sofas were stained. The swimming pool was in the shade most of the day so we used the other two pools to swim. Not happy. If I had not prepaid for the room we would have left then and there. NOW THE GOOD PART: Wayan, the Manager at the front desk was a very nice man, the gardens are lovely with two beautiful swimming pools and the staff in the restaurant were all very nice. Nice verandah on our villa. Quiet most of the time at night.

Peaceful oasis

This is our fifth time staying at Pertiwi. We've stayed in different sections of the resort and last time we stayed in a private villa which was a peaceful oasis away from the busy Ubud streets. The resort is like a tardis - you feel like you've entered another world. There's a stone bridge that takes you over to the back of the resort where an infinity pool awaits you nestled against a huge sculptured stone wall. At the back you walk past thatch roofed villas and see glimpses of beautiful Bali with its pristine gardens, stone statues, and water features. There is a mixture of the traditional Balinese architecture and modern living. We stayed in the villas with its' own pool and sunlounges and would prefer this the next time we stay.

It was great but things to improve as we booked a villa and it seemed not to be booked frequently is the cleanliness/maintenance of it. Saw that the flowers were dead in the room, bath soak was not recently scrubbed clean, and the canopy net for the bed has 1 or 2 dead mosquitoes in. Great resort in beautiful setting and gardens. Great location close to yummy cafes, restaurants and beauty spas. Most guests in villas so plenty of access to lounges by both pools. Only downsides were very minimal English TV and no DVD player and long walk with many stairs between front and back of the property. Small breakfast buffet but good quality, fresh and lovely. Pertiwi resort

This resort was in an excellent part of Ubud. We were at the back so had to get the trolley which wasn't a problem, it arrived in a few minutes. However, during our stay they sprayed the rooms for insects and that night the cockroaches appeared. Not a pleasant sight as I detest them . Other than that the resort was well maintained and the grounds are immaculate with the friendliest staff

Nice people!

Came here for a couple of nights with my girlfeind. The hotel grounds are stubningly beautiful, just wondering around the place was a treat! We had a room close to reception/pool/main street (monkey forest street) which wasnt noisey at all. Some of the rooms towards the rear of the hotel grounds where probably even quieter since they were really secluded. The staff were great, funny and friendly and the food was really nice. Location couldn't have been much better, it was pretty much central to everything (restaurants, spas, shops etc) and a five minute walk from the monkey forest. The hotel lost power (which hotel staff confirmed was a street thing, not a hotel thing) when this happened the hotel switched their own generator on as a back-up which restored power as usual. The only slightly negative to this stay was the water ran out in our bathroom, the hotel staff told us it was due to their reserve rubbing low and they escorted us in a gold buggy to another room down at the other end of the grounds where the water was able to reach. Even though this was inconvenient i still commend the hotel staff on finding a solution to our misfortune and this only lasted 12 hours.

Charming Resort in Top Location

Well established resort on huge grounds, with an array of modern units, older style bures and villas. Two pools, great gardens and good food. Located on Monkey Forest Road just down from the markets.

Beautiful, clean resort, good location

Staff were fabulous and friendly. Good location, walking distance to tourist attractions and good restaurants. Very clean and comfortable room. Both swimming pools were amazing, but top swimming pool toilets a little neglected. Breakfasts were the best we had in Bali, especially the pancakes. Would stay here next time.

Great little escape

Really beautiful setting and we were luck enough to have out own bungalow with outdoor shower and bath, which was amazing. We also had our own, sizeable pool- which was amazing and all very private. the walke from the reception to our room was hilly, but we enjoyed this as we are active people. The staff were very friendly, but there were times things were lost in translation.

Great Location

This is the third hotel I've stayed at in Ubud. The first two were luxury hotels outside of town and while I enjoyed the natural scenery and the amenities, I felt a bit isolated. What I liked most about Pertiwi was the location. The Monkey Forest is within walking distance and there is fabulous shopping the minute you step outside the hotel. I stayed in one of the budget rooms since the people I was traveling with didn't want to spend a lot, but there are more luxurious accommodations--bungalows with private plunge pools for example. The grounds are extensive. A golf cart takes you from one end of the resort to the other. And there are two pools. You don't really realize you are in the heart of town. Ask for a room at the back of the resort. My room was at the front and I could hear music from one of the bars outside. It didn't bother me but it might annoy you if you are more sensitive to noise.

Good location

A great location, friendly staff, good buffet breakfast, nice swimming pool. Deluxe Room rather bare. Patching some of the holes in the walls in the bathroom and replacing missing faucet tops, and changing the antiquated door on the deluxe rooms to a door that can be properly closed to avoid insects and mosquitoes would help. Checking the hot water after checking in to the room will avoid any surprise in the morning and avoid the staff running to fill the diesel to power the water heater!

Amazing hotel!

We stayed there for our honeymoon and got one of the villas with a private pool... So amazing and totally worth the extra price! The hotel is centrally located so you can walk out to the center of the city where all the restaurants, bars and shops are. We had a little mix up with our booking online but the manager worked it out with us and gave us a free upgrade and some complimentary massages. Great honeymoon spot!

Only good for certain rooms

The first room we were shown to was absolutely terrible. Room 314 was located at the bottom of the hill. As soon as you walked in you could smell the mould. The mould was highly visible in each room. Needless to say I requested a new room. The following day we were placed in room 215 just at the top of the hill. It was MUCH better. I have read other reviews that talk of mould in rooms also so insist on a room at the TOP of the hill. Any room number below 215 would be fine. The service was less than impressive. We booked for two beds and were told that our 'double bed' was, under their definition, two beds. As a result they tried to charge us AUD $150 for a folding bed for my 10 year old daughter. We negotioated that to $0. The hotel is in a great position being right on the Main Street of Ubud, close to the Monkey forest and close to all the shopping you can possibly do and more. Our second room was far better although the bathrooms are now very dated. Whilst we were there builders were replacing roof trusses on the unit next door and later began to replace the thatching on the opposite unit so I guess that's a pretty good sign. Knowing the room numbers and the sting about the bed will assist anyone now. Would I stay again? Yes unless a better option was available. Suited to travellers on a budget. Not suited to bigger family groups with multiple children only because of room size. Overall verdict Not great but you could do worse.

Great location, facilities + super friendly staff

The pertiwi is located centrally and is walking distance to the markets with lots of shops and cafes on your doorstep. It was nice and quiet with lovely grounds. All the staff were super-friendly and keen to help if needed. The 2 pools were a great size and it was nice to relax by the pool. The breakfast buffet was of high quality. The on site restaurant and spa were also good. My room was clean + of generous size. My only concern was the wifi reception was patchy. I would highly recommend the pertiwi to others.
