Weird sounds at night, even drop of water will wake you up. Perfect location in the city.
The owner was lovely and the location was walking distance to the Tower and many nice restaurants. However on a Saturday night there was very loud noise from a club nearby and that kept me awake until 3am. Also the bed and pillows were not very comfy.
the location great , quiet, clean, safe, everything around us and easy to find , Thank you
Very unique, classic rustic Italian atmosphere. No air conditioning but good size fan and breathable room.
Very nice stay. Hostess/owner is very friendly. Rooms are very clean and very well furnished with beautiful antique furniture. Highly recommend this pensione.
Very friendly staff and a good location close to several shops and restaurants.
Okay for 1 or 2 nights
Very old converted home that is hard to find. Fantastic staff. Very close to everything.
PISA leaning toward the tower
good place for the price and clearly a very idea pension if you plan to stay short term. We enjoyed our stay and the owners were very friendly. The place is located near the tower of pisa so it is very convenient. My only comment is that the owners inform the tenants they should make the taxi reservation the day BEFORE they depart. Getting taxis in PISA is quite a challenge. Other than this I think the overall experience was wonderful.
Pisa
Hotel location excellent. Management quite helpful. Unfortunately description of hotel did not mention it is on third floor with no lift available. Thank goodness managers nephew was there to help with our bags. When booking depending on time of year, request room with the air conditioner. .
It's a good experience to stay in an old apartment, but uncomfortable to carry luggage up several flights of steps. The toilet was on the same floor as the bedroom, but the shower room was on a different floor.
Welcoming authentic Italian experience
Strongly recommend this pension if you are looking for something characterful. Extremely pleasant and helpful lady owner who seems to have lovingly kept this immaculate place in a time warp for 60 years. We were made to feel very welcome and allowed me to practise some Italian. Some practicalities: Central to the old part of Pisa, near bars restaurants, shops and markets. Only 5 minutes walk to the tower or the modern shops. 10 mins to the station where the Pisa mover takes you to the airport in 5 minutes. Pretty quiet considering central location. No lift, several flights of wide steps up. The pension is decorated with beautiful antique furniture. Massive double room 13 with ensuite, air conditioning and lovely view over courtyard. Once again made to feel welcome by the owner and her son (who speaks good English). Recommend 16thJune, patron saint day in Pisa for The Luminiere festival of lights and the river Pallio. Great fun.
Our stay in Pisa
Then Pensione owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful. A lovely family run business. Room was clean but a little dated. My only suggestion would is that they should have coffee and tea making facilities in the room.
16th Century Fabulous Family Hotel - Bellisimo !!!
Paola & his beautiful 91 yr old Aunt were fantastic great hosts! They took care of all our needs ( like calling cabs, printing off our ferry tix on his computer, They took care of us like family The beautiful 16 Th Century hotel was filled with wonderful antiques & its location was perfect I urge everyone to stay there
Quaint old pensione in the just the right place
Tourist life in Pisa revolves around the Piazza dei Miracoli. But one of the main arteries of the city is Via Borgo Stretto, which goes down to the Lungarno from the city walls and Terme Romane (under a series of names), ending in arcaded shops. Rinascente is a couple of steps from this and the splendid Piazza dei Cavalieri, and ten minutes from the Miracoli. It's in a tiny narrow street in a warren of such streets. The hotel can issue an all-day parking permit. So the position is perfect. It's up two flights of stairs, I didn't see a lift. The rooms are big and high, ours wasn't en suite; not that kind of place. The staff are lovely, very friendly and anxious to look after and inform you. Everything immaculately clean. I don't know if it would be so easy to park nearby during the season. But this felt like a real Italian pensione. It's not an all-comforts anonymous hotel. It has character. And (in January) we didn't pay very much for a couple of nights at all. Recommended for those who like their accommodation characterful!
Convenient and traditional
If you are after the experience of living in a traditional Italian house, this is it! Not only the owners are very accommodating, they are very very friendly! Run by mother and son, a fab homely atmosphere. The property is a little old, but that's where the rustic feeling comes from. Clean and comfy nonetheless. Locality is also great as it is near the nightlife scene but not on the main streets, so it is accessible but not too noisy.
Great budget hotel in the heart of Pisa.
Friendly family-run pensione close to shops, restaurants and short walk to Leaning Tower. Located in a quiet side street. Comfortable and clean. En-suite toilet and shower. Free wi-fi. Good air conditioning.
Sweet Pension in a sweet town
Sweet Pension in a sweet town. If I ever come back to this lovely town I will be back, hopefully to the same room.
Good
Great location, very basic as reflected in excellent price.
Warm welcome
We received a warm welcome from Paola and his Aunt. Paola gave us lots of useful information as well as the name of a great Pizza place, just round the corner from the house. Nice big family room with domed ceiling and traditional furniture. Only drawback - No air con, just an electric fan which wasn't enough to keep all 4 of us cool.
OK for a night at an Inn that has seen better days
Just OK for a night's stay at this rather over-priced, old inn run by a cheerful mom and her assertive son. The 2nd floor climbs can be taxing for guests arriving with large luggage. Our room was supposed to be with a panoramic view that wasn't. The furniture has seen better days with chipped table-tops. Plus Points: The location, near the Tower. Efficient room air-conditioning, neat beds, clean common toilet with running hot water. Though away from the Pisa railway station, our walk was enjoyable through the lively streets and the splendid setting of the Arno bridge. Nearby are good food joints, especially the Kebab Indian Food that serves BBQ menu.
Excellent owners
Paulo, the owner could not have been better - very helpful. He was having a morning coffee in the cafe where the three of us were having breakfast. When I later went to pay, the waiter said Paulo had paid our bill!!
Quirky hotel in Centre of Pisa
This is a quirky little place set back amongst the back streets of Pisa. It's like going back in time when you enter. Don't expect modern luxuries. Our room was not ensuite but had a large sink. But it's right in the Centre of Pisa within easy walking of the Leaning Tower and great local restaurants. Avoid the ones by the tower which are rip off tourist places. It's very safe and quiet.
Very nice older couple running the hotel, but they were a little strict on their policies. The man seemed annoyed that the car i rented wasnt a tiny smart car, and the lady got really upset when i took the room key to our car to load our luggage, rather than leave it on the hook at the desk like you're supposed to if you go anywhere, but that may have been a language barrier thing. They were nice enough to wait up for us to arrive late just after 10pm though. Decor looked like it had been the same since 1940. The room was a good size and served its purpose. Wasn't a huge fan of the neighborhood, or Pisa all together really.
Lovely quaint family B&B excellent but for the cramped toilet/shower
Basic hotel, very close to everything, lovely staf
The staff were absolutely fantastic, really sweet. The hotel was close to everything. Room was very basic. It was ok for one night.
It was great, the tower of Pisa was in walking distance. The room was very traditional, I really liked it, the people there were really friendly and helpful, I really enjoyed my stay and I am hoping in going back. The service was really good. Word of advice: only buzz once and be patient. The reception is upstairs, so it takes a couple of minutes for the elders to answer the door, just be patient. I highly recommend this place if you really want to experience a traditional Italian hotel :)
Disappointing
The hotel is located in the historical center of Pisa, a bit away from the Central Station. For getting to the airport you'll need a taxi that can cost more than 17€. The lady at the reception is very nice and helpful but the place has seen better times, it's terrible outdated and uncomfortably, the beds are really hard and the illumination of the room required not to need glasses. The toilette and shower are on the corridor and uninvited to be used. Disappointed feeling in nice words
Charming hotel very close to the Leaning Tower.
We stayed one night at this charming hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was very large ( 4 beds) and air conditioned. Pisa was very warm and the AC was essential. The hotel is two levels up from the entry door, with no elevator, which could be a problem if you are traveling with a lot of luggage. The hotel owner, Paulo, and his aunt, are absolutely wonderful and showed us some great places to eat. The hotel is decorated in fun, vintage Italian decor that perfectly fits the old building. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Quirky guesthouse full of character and charm
Quirky guesthouse full of character and charm situated in a excellent position. Hosts very helpful and friendly. If you can manage the steep steps to the entrance lobby and don't mind having to cross the landing to access your shower and toilet this is the place for you!
OK
We just stay for one night. It feels like 1980s hotel.
Authentic Italian experience
We stayed here one night looking for an authentic Italian experience which is what we got. Paolo and his aunt Pina who run this pensione are very friendly and helpful, and the location right in the middle of the old town is great. We stayed in the quadruple room which is immense and comes with 4 single beds. The only negative was the heat, Pisa was in the middle of a heatwave and our room was like an inferno. We barely slept and kept getting up putting cold cloths on ourselves. If you get to Pisa experiencing extreme temperatures I would recommend looking for a hotel with air conditioning, any other time give this pensione a go.
Great hotel staff and neighborhood
Beautiful room in a beautiful city
We stayed at Pensione Rinascente for two nights over Easter weekend. Our room had four beds, gorgeous high ceilings, elegant furnishings, a private sink. The shared shower and toilets were down the hall. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. A true delight! The Tower and Cathedral complex is about ten minutes on foot. If arriving by train, Pisa Centrale is about twenty minutes walk. We did this with two young children and luggage with no problems. Located in the historic center so there is limited car traffic. You must contact the hosts for the required parking permit. No breakfast is served as this is a pensione, not a B&B.
Very welcoming
The host couldn't have been more helpful, we arrived late with hungry kids and he immediately phoned a restaurant ahead to check it was open then led us straight there himself. Good, simple old-style guesthouse, aircon, fantastic central location but still really peaceful.
Excellent choice and homely feel. Tutto bene.
Brilliant place to stay with welcoming hosts and very much customer orientated. Great location for sights (leaning tower of Pisa), transport hubs, strolls and exploration of neighbourhood day & night! Only wish I had stayed here longer. Many thanks (molte grazie) to the our hosts.
Close to leaning tower in Pisa
This is a family running hotel. The double size bed is combined with 2 single beds. One is higher than another and leaning to outside of bed frame. I could not sleep well. The shared washroom is too small and old. It is a really old building without lift. You must be able to take your heavy luggage to 4th floor by yourself.
One night visit to Pisa
It was fine for a one night stay to see the famous sights.
location is good but uncomfy beds
the hotel is lovely, the owners are friendly. but the beds are awfully high, like 1 meter from the ground. I even have to jump a little bit to reach the bed (I am 168cm) so if you have a child travels with you, it is not safe at all to stay here. We stayed in 5 different hotels in Italy, and this one is the only place charges the tax for my 2 years old girl. says something about the character of the owner I guess.
Very quaint!
We enjoyed our stay. Paolo and his aunt made us feel so welcome. Close to restaurants and sights. Safe, secure and clean. We would recommend this hotel. We only stayed one night and moved on but if our agenda had included more than one night in Pisa we would have been happy here.
Unusual Pensione. Read more...
There are lots of different opinions about this hotel/pensione. Let's see if I can clarify a bit... Character: This place definitely has lots of it. Historic building, old pictures on the wall, furniture, etc... Comfort: I think this is where most people got confused. The hotel is not large at all. There is only one shared shower room. There are two shared restrooms. There is no elevator and hotel is on 2nd or 3rd floor. If you like "standard" features in a hotel, this one will disappoint you. If you want to get a feeling what it's like to live in Italian house and looking for unique travelling experience - you would love it. Staff: Some staff don't speak English, I agree. The elderly guy was speaking good English and was helpful with recommendations. He has a brilliant sense of humor. Location: Good location near city center. It might be not so obvious to find this place, as the entrance is not on a main street.
Wonderful rooms
We were given an enormous room full of amazing furniture. The owners were very accommodating as we had To depart at 4.30am. They made sure we had a taxi and waved us goodbye. We only stayed one night on our way to the airport! I would recommend staying longer as Pisa is a totally different place once the day tourists depart.
Great location in Pisa
Friendly helpful hosts, lovely traditional rooms. Quirky place to stay in a lovely area of Pisa. Close to Leaning tower and places to eat.
such a unique and classic Italian experience
It was such a unique and classic Italian experience. the rooms and corridors were crammed with artefacts that created a cosy welcoming feel. The whole place oozed of memories. Each room had a slightly different feel to it, all classically styled. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly.
This is an intimate run Pensione with an exceedingly friendly and helpful proprietor. The location was great being close to anything you want to see in Pisa. Highly recommended for Pensione in this price bracket.
Nice hotel with an historic feel.
Nice hotel with lots of caracter with an historic feel. Close to the main attractions, you can be at the tower within 10 minutes of walk.
Leon
Very good place
excellent value for money, central location
this old palazzo is very centrally located in Pisa to get all round town. Run by friendly and helpful people. The rooms and whole place is very clean. You won't find a better price for this location. Rooms are large in size with high ceilings. Basic towels provided. If you're sharing in one of the larger shared rooms and are sharing a bathroom just be prepared that it is a separate bathroom and toilet on either side of reception. The pensione is fine for a few nights if you don't want to spend too much.
Good location
Not a very fancy place, but affordable if you're on a budget. The hotel is in a great location; very close to major sites like the Leaning Tower. Keep in mind that you will have to share a toilet and shower with other guests. As far as I could tell there was only one shower. We didn't ever have to wait on either, but the hotel also didn't seem very busy. The bed was pretty old and uncomfortable. Wifi worked well.
Authentic Italian Hideaway
This little accommodating 'Pensione' was in an excellent location. Paolo and his aunt were extremely friendly and helpful. Although it did not include breakfast it was a delight to be able to wonder through the little streets, looking for Paolo's recommendation. We were able to walk around easily, finding the popular tourist places but also discovering quaint Italian hospitality and cuisine. Loved it!
Beautiful hotel. Close to all the sites of Pisa.
Amazing antiques and beautifully decorated hotel. Bed was comfy and owner really helpful!!
Stay here is you do not have a rental car or bags
Never again, but the restaurant downstairs is excellent.
Classic details in convenient location
Pensione Rinascente was a great place to stay in Pisa. It is centrally located, about 10 minutes walk from the historical landmarks and 15 minutes from the central train station. It can be a bit confusing to find the first time, so make sure to bring a good map. My room was large and had really high ceilings that made it appear even larger. There was a desk and wardrobe in the room, and the WiFi worked very well. It felt like a step back in time, in a good way (i.e. authentic antique furnishings, original architectural details, etc). The owners were very nice and helpful with directions and recommendations (only one speaks English, so keep that in mind). Only issue was some of the floor tiles were a bit wobbly, but it was definitely not a big deal. Also I would highly recommend the restaurant right downstairs from the Pensione.
Do not stay here unless absolutely necessary
Never again
Cheap, but not worth it.
Staff didn't speak English, no breakfast, floor of upstairs felt like it was going to give way any second, shower was on the lower level only, couldn't get a/c to work. Good location, but there are better places to stay.
Cute little pension in a good location
This is a cute little place right in the middle of Pisa. It's a family run place and they were all friendly and helpful. For the price you can't expect 5 star facilities but it was fine for what we needed for a one night stop in Pisa.
It was good really old fashioned but great and really close to the leaning tower
Hosts are wonderful, Hotel is very hard to find
The hotel is located in the historic area, the only way to get there is walking. Parking is hard to find, We drove around the city for two hours before finding parking and then finally finding the hotel. The hosts were wonderful and very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are hostel-like and the beds and bedding are comfortable. We would stay here again, but we will NEVER drive a car into the city center of Pisa again!
Family of 4 Aussies
Family with two teenage girls stayed New Years Eve. Quiet even at midnight. No lift so a few flights of stairs with bags. WiFi worked well, according to the girls. No breakfast was a complicating factor but walked to local café that was open (just under an old walled gate) that had pastries and good coffee/hot chocolate. Had to queue with the locals which says it all. Only 300 steps to the top of the Tower and can be slippery at the top (lots of marble) but fantastic view of the city.
A Pisan Gem
Staying at Pensione Rinascenti was the highlight of our holiday. Paolo and his lovely aunt made us so welcome. It was a privilege to stay there as it has the feel of a real Italian home. Lovely places to have breakfast nearby. The location is perfect within walking distance of the station and only a 10 min stroll to the Piazza dei Miracole to see the Tower, Duomo and Battista. We loved Pisa and will most definitely stay at Pensione Rinascenti on our next visit.
Friendly and interesting place
The guy who runs it is really nice and gave us a good recommendation for dinner. I chose it because it didn't look like all the other hotels and I was not let down.
Very basic hotel but ideal for the price. Staff very pleasant. Very central and walking distance to the leaning tower.
LOvely hostess
Fabulous considering we were there only one night. Great wee house lovely hospitality.
Great position in Pisa
The hotel is situated in a great position for centre of town, several bars, the river and about 10 minute walk to the station and tower of Pisa. Owner very helpful and spoke great English. Only downside was shower on another floor to our room and separate toilet.
Were close to City center
The hotel is small but Nice and clean. Close to leaning Towers
Lovely hotel
We stayed here for 2 nights. The staff were lovely and friendly, not to meantion very helpful. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned (a must in that area due to mosquitos, so windows stay shut). The shared bathroom and shower were kept lovely and clean and the whole place had a friendly vibe about it. For the money it is a very night place. You feel welcome and get a comfortable room. I will defiantly stay here again if visiting Pisa
Rustic and charming Pensione
The location of the Pensione was excellent within walking distance of the sights of Pisa and both sides if the river. However, the best thing was the owners. The lady of the house spoke not one word of Englsh but was so welcoming and generous making you feel a guest in her home rather than a faceless hotel. Her nephew Marco spoke excellent English and was also very charming and helpful.
Excellent place - such great service!
The hotel hosts were so helpful at every step of the way. Room was clean, air conditioned and perfectly positioned for us all to get some sleep. I highly recommend!
beds were comfy enough but not good for a couple. 2 single beds that sag in the middle mean no cuddles! very nice staff. lot of stairs to get to our room. room was good size with great air con. not far to walk to leaning tower etc and heaps of restaurants and supermarket nearby. separate shower etc was downstairs but we'd expected that
Great stop over .. For couple travelling through
Lovely little stopover. Stayed for 1 night. Owner was helpful and lovely. Room ok.
Charming, like staying with grandma
Pretty basic hotel but good value. Toilet is on one floor, shower is on the next but never had to cue for either. the staff are very nice. the man speaks englis but is aunty speaks only Italian or French. either way they were both very helpful and nice. gave good recommendation for breakfast (Cafe Salza). 10 mins walk from the leaning tower and 5 mins from main street. there is not a lot to do in Pisa and we stayed here for 2 nights, was comfortable and the aircon was a bonus for this price range.
An interesting experience.
A very interesting place to stay with a lot of history and character. Not a cookie cutter type of hotel. The bathroom was not pristine but the bed was very comfortable and clean. Our room was large , air conditioned and very quiet. Ideal location ,minutes from the major sites and close to airport and train. The owners were very helpful and interesting .The hotel added to the Pisa experience.
great location
good location and good service
Great location, cheap and cheerful!
We stayed here one night before flying home from Pisa airport after a week in Florence and the surrounding areas. The location couldn't be better, you are right in central Pisa, about 10 minutes from the tower and about 20 minutes from the train station. The room was very large, basic (e.g. the TV had only normal channels, no mini bar/fridge, no bathroom products), clean, decorated traditionally and had an en-suite, which was small but perfectly adequate. Just what you expect from a hotel in this price range. The elderly lady owner was lovely (traditional Italian) and happy to suggest a restaurant for our evening meal - which was the best quality meal we had all holiday! For the price this hotel is fabulous and you couldn't ask for anymore. We left feeling like we had just spent a night with our Grandparents - lovely!
good economical choice
This was an economical choice that served for a short stay. The hotel is in an old building that's been well maintained for its age. The room was comfortable, 2 twin beds joined to form a larger full sized bed which is common in Italy. The decor was antique, old wall hangings, old lamps etc but the bed sheets were cleaned. We stayed in bedroom 1 which is across the hall from the office where the matron (presumably owner) and her nephew kept constant guard. They were nice though. The room had this alarm button that I inadvertenly pressed with the back of my head as I lay on the bed. I heard a buzzer go off outside, I think in their office but had no idea why. Next thing I know is that the matron owner was opening the door to the room to investigate. Thankfully, I was fully clothed. The bathroom and toilet are also situated separately across the hall. Neither one was particularly well designed. both were small and cramped, but worked satisfactorily. For us this was a good economical choice situated on a quiet street. The only sounds were the church bells ringing.
Heart of Pisa Citta Storica
Definite period charm. Fantastic coffee machine. Proprietor spoke English and showed us the way to Pensione and restaurant. Able to practice terrible Italian on Auntie. Able to park outside but difficult to reach nearby Piazza dei Cavallieri in the car as it looked like a pedestrian precinct.
Great for a real taste of italy
Great location and Paolo the owner was really helpful. He showed us on a map areas to avoid plus where the restaurants that weren't tourist traps were. We bumped into him in a square round the corner from the hotel and he asked if we'd seen the church. We hadn't and he took 5 mins to take us in and give us a bit of history about it as it was adorned with Turkish ship parts and the most amazing ceiling. We were in a twin which was spacious, traditional, quite basic, if not a little dated but it was spotless with comfy beds. The doubles looked more sumptuous. Major plus point was the free wifi. There was a great street full of shops, cafes, bars and market stalls just round the corner. Fifteen min walk to central Pisa station and similar to the leaning tower. Price was great and we were near the university which made the area nicely busy (so we felt safe wandering around at night) plus the bars and cafes were much cheaper than the touristy trap areas around the tower and more authentic.
Good value and full of character
Don't expect everything en suite in a medieval building, but for character, central location and value it was excellent. Genuine old fashioned hospitality from people who have probably been running the place for decades. Would have preferred breakfast, but knew what we were (not) getting. No complaints - left with a big smile.
kooky hotel in quiet neighbourhood
wonderfully atmospheric hotel in ancient building - our room had high vaulted ceiling. Walls crowded with eclectic collection of pictures, prints and ephemera. La Signora really charming and Signor speaks English. Quiet location a short walk from Pisa rail station - church bells woke us up - pretty special.
Posizione strategica. Sig.Pina simpaticissima
Potrebbe essere rinnovato. Presenti tappeti e moquette non pulitissimi. Troppi Santini attaccati ai muri. Posizione buona
Super Lage - kurze Wege von Innenstadt, Bahnhof, Flughafen.
Central room in Pisa
Good location but no English speaking personell. OK room, guess we got what we paid for :)
Charming Pensione close to the leaning tower!
A very charming pension in the middle of the historic centre very close to the leaning tower. The pensione has one star, and it is not the overwhelming luxury that does the trick, but it is a very lovely place. Go back in time, while enjoying both AC and WiFi.
Enkelt men trevligt
Mycket enkelt boende i centrala Pisa.

Quite enjoyable even though air condition didn't work very well
