This was a small hotel which was great for our stay in Santiago. It was nice to have the personal touch. The breakfast was great and a kettle in the room was a surprising and very welcome find. Small car park at the back of the property was convenient and we could walk easily into the city.

If I had to choose this hotel again, I would in an instance. Ava, the host, was generous with her knowledge of the area, and gave me and my traveling partner a map of the city and pointed out directions to destinations we needed to visit. The breakfast she set up was generous, and included fresh fruit, local made breads and pastries, ham and cheese and yogurt. As far as the room was concerned, it was perfectly appointed and clean. Great view from the balcony of the cathedral nearby. Bathroom was spotless and beds were cozy. Honestly, I am sad that we were not able to spend more time here. Thank you, PR Tambre for a wonderful stay!

Our hostess was wonderfully helpful all during our stay. She's a well-spring of information about the city, and she sets out a very nice breakfast buffet. Also, the pension is well-located for walkers like us, about 20 minutes from the cathdral square.

It is a nice small family-owned hotel, located in a walking distance from the Cathedral. Free parking is provided but it is somewhat tricky to park there.

Great little pension gem in Santiago de Compostela

Perfect place in a perfect location in Santiago. It was nice not being in the center of the city and all of its business, especially when you want to rewind and relax after spending 10 days on the Camino. The owner was especially helpful with restaurant recommendations among other things. I believe Ava was her name. Great fresh breakfast spread and very walkable to everywhere. Highly recommend!

I walked the Coastal Camiño from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela and stayed in several hotels along the way but PR Tambre was my favorite! The staff go out of their way to accommodate guests. The entire place is very clean. From the street the hotel looks like a nondescript storefront but is very welcoming inside. There’s a nice selection of drinks available at the bar. Breakfast is available for only €5 and was typical of most of the other places I stayed. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the cathedral but there’s a bus stop just a few steps from the hotel and the bus costs only €1! It will get you close to the cathedral in about 5 minutes. There’s also a self serve laundromat and supermarket 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel, several cafes/bars nearby and a really tasty seafood restaurant on the same street as the hotel called Meson do Pulpo. I definitely will be staying at PR Tambre on my next visit to Santiago de Compostela!

We stayed 3 nights. The outside is deceptive. The inside looks great, very clean, well kept and quiet. The owner is wonderful and goes out of her way to make you comfortable and assist you in whatever you need. The location is a 10 minute walk to the cathedral - a lot closer than appears on a map. There are lots of restaurants nearby, a grocery store and very clean laundromat. We would definitely stay there again!!!!!

Pension Tambre is a hidden jewel in Santiago de Compostela. Within walking distance of the Cathedral and historical downton, the Pension can go easily unnoticed if you are not looking for it. Once inside, you will find it is welcoming in its simplicity and cleanliness. Eva, the owner, at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet is a great value as well.

Increíble! We had a lovely stay at pension tambre. We were welcomed and given a full explanation of where to go and how to get around the city with local recommendations too. The staff were absolutely amazing, and were always available going above and beyond for their guests. Great location, easy to walk into the centre and a delicious buffet breakfast each morning to fuel you for the day. Would recommend and return.

We arrived late because of our Flight, well after midnight but no problem. Very helpfull and a great Breakfast.

Enjoyable Stay!

Very helpful from the start! We turned up too early to check in properly but, no problem , our car was parked in their Car Park and we got on with our Day out! Bags taken to our Rooms. Would stay again!

Super friendly family run hotel

Very clean and friendly family-run hotel about a 15 minute walk from the centro. The daughter speaks excellent English and provided detailed advice about what to do in town. Mom speaks no English but is super friendly if you even attempt Spanish. Rooms are basic but a great value. There’s a small bar in the lobby. I went down for a coke one night and had a great chat with the daughter while mom was making a super yummy tortilla tapas in the adjoining kitchen. The exterior of the building looks slightly run down but the interior is very nice. Would stay there again if I ever am in SDC.

Good value for the money. Clean and neat, the bathroom was excellent. There was a lift to get to the upper rooms. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was nothing special but it was only 3 Euros. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the Cathedral. There was free parking if you are lucky outside the door. My only negative really is the hotel charged me twice so I paid double what I should have

Very pleasant stay. Check in process was friendly and super informative. Room looked better than on photos. Super clean, and very comfortable beds. Amazing coffee and Tarta de Santiago cake for breakfast at only €3 additional cost was the cheapest quality option we had for a very long time.

Great place to stay, like being at home. Owners are super friendly and make you feel you are at home, room was superclean and warm, they have their own property parking, and place is very close (10 to 15 min) to the Cathedral. Next time we come come back to Santiago de Compostela we will stay here at this place for sure!

A hidden PR gem in Tambre

PR Tambre is about an easy 10 minutes walk from the main touristy areas which was more of an advantage. There are several very good and reasonably priced restaurants nearby and it was good to get away from the crowds around the Santiago de Compestela area. It is a family run pension and although the father doesn't speak English it was easy to communicate with him. Eva, the daughter is a delight. She goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable and help with any questions you may have. We had one of the front rooms with the balcony which was bright and airy but if you leave the windows open then you will hear the traffic on the street below. The rooms were recently renovated and well decorated. The wifi worked well and the TV had no English channels. The breakfast was well priced and the home baked almond pie was delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant area was friendly and pleasant. The parking at the back was easy to park and safe. We would love to come back to this pension.

Again, again,on the Camino, ingles,I have had and stayed in some fantastic hostal/hotel,the tambre is up there with the best!! from booking in to leaving Eva and her family treated me with kindness, respect, and patience, also trying my attempts at Galician! with help of Google translate! Room was spotless,so were staff at all levels? plus it's a way from crowd's in town about 10min.walk only, breakfast in morning of toast,oil,salt, tomato, brilliant!!I will be back, when I can? Thanks again to Eva and family for a great stay! great place to end my Camino in peace and quiet!!!👍🙏

Good stay

We had a very clean and renovated room. The lady who welcomed us spoke good English and was very nice to give us the map and show us the places to see in Santiago de Compostela. We also run into the cleaning personnel that was very accommodating: they fixed the sink when we were taking a tour in the city. The only negative I can think of is the luck of noise insulation between adjacent rooms. Overall, it was a good stay.

Good Place to stay. A 10 minutes walk from Cathedral, or can take a bus block an a half from the Hotel (1 Euro)… Owners are great.

Great place, easy walking distance to cathedral.

We stayed here after walking 500 miles on the Camino and arriving in Santiago. We arrived in Santiago in the morning. So after spending a few hours near the cathedral getting our Compostelas and having lunch, we walked to the Pension Tambre. We really hadn't checked the time of day or the check-in time. When we arrived at the bar/café to check-in we were kindly greeted and pleasantly checked-in. When we were showed to the pension, it was obvious that our room was still being cleaned and that we were about 2 hours early for check-in! The staff was very kind and apologetic. They wanted us to be comfortable while we waited. We just wanted a cool place to sit and they were very accommodating. They quickly finished preparations and showed us to our room. Later, we discovered the sink was clogged and when we let the owner know, she had it taken care of promptly. Food was good in the café and the area was quiet and close to the cathedral. The owner was also very pleasant and gave us a map and showed us the best way to get from point A to point B, including the bus stations and how to get to the airport bus. It was a very pleasant stay!

Eva, the manager, was wonderfully courteous, friendly, and helpful.

A gem, a short bus or walk away from the center

This is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are super helpful and kind. A bus station (7 minutes downtown, 15-20 by walk) and a laudromat are close by. My only issue was that the bed was way too smooth for my liking. I stayed 4 nights and so far it was the best place I stayed in Spain.

Wonderful stay

The hotel was walking distance from the heart of the city. What made the stay so pleasant was our hosts. Although only the daughter spoke English the parents made themselves understood and could not have been more friendly and helpful.

A comfortable hotel and quiet. The owners speak little English but are very friendly and helpful. They work so hard to run a good hotel and friendly bar downstairs. The hotel is about 1.5 km north of the cathedral so is a bit of a walk but it's on sidewalks thru a safe neighborhood. Well worth the good rate for a nice quiet, clean, single private room in a good neighborhood if you can do the 20 min walk. The private bathroom was clean and plumbing worked perfectly. The room size was adequate for a single Perigrino. All in all an excellent deal in Santiago. Highly recommended.

Perfecto

PERFECT Family owned no English but made you feel at home and part of the family. The wife even gave me her card to call her if I needed anything while I was out and about. Comfortable bed yea. The daughter and husband both very friendly, food very reasonably priced, big portions (to big for me) and very tasty. Not close to anything but half block away is a bus stop for a short ride to the center for 1 euro taxi ride from center or train station only 5 or 6 euros. Definitely one of my favorites in Spain.

Stay at Tambre

Our stay at Tambre was enjoyable! The owners were very pleasant and friendly. The room was very clean but the bed wasn't very comfortable, but it was ok for two days since we only came to the hotel to sleep. It is a family run business therefore they make feel very comfortable and relaxed.

We were warmly welcomed and shown every consideration. We had breakfast in the bar below the hotel. It was quiet considering we were so close to the city centre.

A value-for-money break in Santiago de Compostela

This was a pleasant, friendly hotel; within easy walking distance of the city centre. A real bonus was the free parking - and although the standard of the parking area has been the subject of past adverse comment, for the package price I thought this was more tahn adequate, considering the location. Breakfast in the downstairs bar/cafe was good; and a drink in the evening was accompanied by a tasty "tapa".

Good value easily walkable to Cathedral

I stayed here 3 nights at end of walking the Camino. As a pilgrim needing simple but private accommodation it was just perfect. I found this hotel easily with Google maps on my phone. Once I arrived the friendly receptionist gave me a map showing me the Cathedral, nearby parks, etc. It was quiet in the day time when I returned for a siesta - the tiled floor meant sometimes in the evening I could hear sounds as people returned but the guests were not noisy. It takes less than 20 mins to walk to the Cathedral. It's easy to walk from the hotel to the Auditorio de Galicia if you like classical music and also the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea for modern art.

I stayed at this place while walking the Camino de Santiago. I made a reservation because I didn't want to worry about local albergues being full, and wanted to walk well into the afternoon as I had been doing so for past four weeks. The check-in experience was quite a pleasant one, with friendly and attentive staff. Location is a bit tricky for pilgrims like myself, because of the distance from the monument city; it's a bit far to walk (~2km or so), while a bit close for taking the bus which runs every half an hour. At the checkout I was surprised to find out they did not charge my credit card (or at least they claimed that's what happened), and I had to pay in cash. All in all, it was more than worth the price I paid (30 euros).

Soggiorno fantastico: camera molto pulita, personale davvero gentile e colazione ottima, varia e con torte buonissime. Possibilità di parcheggiare nel parcheggio della pensione o anche in strada si trova posto.

Questa piccola pensione è davvero confortevole e comoda per visitare Santiago e i dintorni. Si trova a pochi passi dal centro, in una posizione tranquilla e con affacci sul verde, strategica soprattutto per chi ha un’auto. Pulizia e servizi sono eccellenti, ma il vero punto forte è la gentilezza e disponibilità della proprietaria. È un posto che sa di casa, se torneremo da queste parti ci piacerebbe alloggiare nuovamente qui.

El alojamiento estaba muy bien, estuvimos varios días allí y todo genial. Limpieza, atención, comodidad...todo estupendo. El personal era encantador y hasta se nos subió las maletas a la habitación. De localización también muy bien, por los alrededores hay ciertos bares y cafeterias para desayunar, además está a 15 minutos andando del centro histórico y la catedral así que muy cómodo a la hora de hacer turismo, compras y buscar bares y restaurantes. Nada más llegar a la recepción se nos informó de todo lo que podíamos ver allí en relación con los días que permanecíamos en Santiago, indicándonos cuáles serían los indispensables para no perdernos nada. En resumen, es lugar muy agradable y práctico para moverse. Repetiríamos.

Very good location in the green far from about 1 km from the cathédral. Calm and cozy Place with a kind and perfect host Eva. The only inconvenient point is that they are not very fast to replay tò your questions before arriving. I recomand the Place tò everyone.

Siamo stati bene e la proprietaria è stata veramente gentile ed accogliente.

Esta situada en el barrio de Vista Alegre a 1,2 km de la plaza de obradoiro. La distancia la suple todo lo demás, ah, y el desayuno estupendo y barato. Hay una linea de bus 4 que para casi en la puerta de la pensión.

Desde que llegamos Eva fue muy amable con nosotros, nos dio un mapa de la ciudad y nos explicó que cosas podíamos visitar y ver. El desayuno muy bueno. Las camas súper cómodas y limpias, el baño también.

The structure is about 15minutes walk away from the Cathedral and have easy parking if you move by car. The hostress was very kind giving us a lot of tips about Santiago and nice spots to see going to Finisterre. The room unfortunately was on a trafficated road and a little bit noisy , but closing the window it is acceptable. Recommended.
