Shower head works phenomenally!
I really enjoyed my stay at this property, the staff were so kind and very helpful. The property is situated in the old town, very near the cathedral. The room was pretty with a balcony and lots of nice little touches like chargers and a bedside lamp and a good shower. The streets outside can be noisy at night, but that didn't bother me is I am a heavy sleeper, but if you are a light sleeper take ear plugs.
Great location but LOUD
This is a great location however, if you have a room facing the street be prepared for loud revelers until early morning! The spiral staircase to access the rooms is very difficult to get luggage up and down. The staff was very helpful.
Charming hotel in fantastic location
Spent 2 nights at the end of the Camino at the Balconada. While the rooms are small the location can't be beat, just around the corner from the cathedral. The hotel was very helpful with recommendations and ordered a taxi for us to get to the airport. Would definitely come back!
Hotel after Walking 809 km
Excellent hotel. Small rooms but efficient use of space. Jose amd Christina were incredibly responsive. I would stay here again.
In old city close to all the attractions.
It’s a nice quiet little pension house just steps from the Cathedral. Those with issues might find the stairs to get to the room difficult to negotiate. We did not have a problem. Beds were so comfortable especially after our Camino. The lobby and sitting area on the first floor are so cute! I would definitely stay here whenever I’m in the area.
Best memories from my trip contacted to this place. The location and atmosphere there is magical.Highly recommend!
This property is within 5 minutes of the Cathedral and plaza! Close and convenient to food, historical sites, and laundry. The staff were very kind and helpful and they had the most comfortable beds we had slept in across Spain! The one warning I would give is that like most European hotels, there is not an elevator. Fantastic location!!
Great location. Easy access. Nice people
It's literally right around the corner from the cathedral. Christina was friendly and super helpful. We were staying for 3 nights. The original room was a bit small for relaxing and working. They moved us to a bigger room. (Which didn't have a balcony) which was more comfortable for the 2 of us just hanging out enjoying Spain!
We really enjoyed staying at this property. The hotel itself is full of charm and personality. We stayed in a room with a balcony, and we loved it. The employees are very kind and there were umbrellas for us to borrow in the rain. We would absolutely stay here again. The location was amazing with the main cathedral very, very close and good food and shopping options all around. Our main gripe with the place is that we struggled sleeping. The toilet in the room was making a lot of noise at random times. The windows and door are not very sound proof and we could hear conversations on the street outside and in the hallways of the hotel. Make sure you bring earplugs.
Cute central hotel.
We loved it here—stayed for one night and it as just what we needed and wanted. The owner was very nice and we will absolutely stay here again in the future! Thank you!!
Excellent!
The Casa da Balconada is a cute, boutique-like small hotel. Everything is clean to the detail, and the rooms are beautifully set. I had a room with a balcony, and great views of the cathedral. The staff is polite and supportive. Perfect for staying in a peaceful environment and, at the same time, very convenient to explore restaurants, historic places, religious monuments.
The perfect location
The hotel has a perfect location in the middle of the historic centre. The reception on arrival was friendly and clear. Our room, and bathroom, were small but nicely furnished and the bed very comfortable. Both rooms really need a couple of hooks though for towels, coats etc. My only complaint would be the smell of smoke from the ‘smoking area’ of the reception, and the perfumed air freshener that didn’t hide it. But, I would definitely stay here again. Breakfast isn’t provided, but plenty of delicious breakfasts available a few steps away.
Loved staying here. After the Camino, this was the perfect place to have a bit of space to myself. Perfectly located in the heart of everything. Would stay here again next time I’m back in Santiago! Check in was convenient and easy to communicate via WhatsApp. They were super helpful is arranging a taxi to get to the airport as well.
Sleepless in Santiago
Great position near to the Cathedral, bars and restaurants but as a result the rooms were very noisy until 4.00am with people shouting and singing outside even with the window shut. The ticket which we were given for the car park discount was not valid when we tried to redeem it.
Excellent Small Pension
Excellent small Pension only a block from the Cathedral. Service fantastic. Jose was absolutely fantastic. Would stay again
The room was gorgeous and the owner Christina was one of the most helpful people I have experienced. I can’t recommend this highly enough!
Location clean and friendly owner. I would definately stay there again
Nestled in the historic Santiago, this place offers a vibrant and convenient stay, with its prime location within walking distance of Santiago Cathedral and other main attractions. The dining experience is a highlight, showcasing local seafood that enrich the stay. The staff's warmth and efficiency enhance the overall experience. However, guests should be aware that the house central location exposes it to the lively nightlife, particularly on Saturdays, which might disrupt the sleep of light sleepers.
This place was a phenomenal end to our Camino journey! Just steps from the catedral. The host, Christina, was so helpful throughout our stay (she helped us bring up our suitcases, gave us great recommendations, and organized two early morning taxis for us, etc.). My dad and I loved every part of this stay and would absolutely come back.
It’s a small hotel with small rooms but very well set up and extremely convenient around the corner from the major cathedral
Within 5 minutes of the cathedral and all the tourist restaurants and souvenir stores and 5 minutes the other way neighbour hood restaurants
Wonderful on every level
Casa da balconada Sweet little place practically next door to the cathedral. Just six rooms on three floors. Cristina, the owner and amazing one-woman operator of this fairly-recently renovated mini hotel, manages to keep things running smoothly. The rehab of this ancient edifice was done with style and panache while attaining the most efficient usage of square inches/centimeters seen on land. If you want to be near all of the tourist action of the casco viejo, you can’t find a better location. Each floor of Casa da Balconada has two rooms. We spent the first two of our four nights in the front room facing the street. It was a Friday and Saturday and things got boisterous at times out on the street. We moved to the back twin-bedded room facing an internal patio, and it was perfectly quiet. The beds are comfortable, the heating and the Wi-Fi worked well. And Cristina was a charming attentive hostess. If you are not young and fit the steep narrow stairs to the three floors could be a challenge. We are not young, but we are fit, and the stairs were not a problem for us. Highly recommend Cristina’s Casa da Balconada.
Pros: next to the cathedral, area is very safe and clean, room is modern/updated and clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful Cons: next the cathedral (bell tolls every 30 mins), you need to walk and carry all you luggage/gear in and out, no elevator (but staff will carry your luggage/gearupstairs good luck getting it down.
Great place to stay near the cathedral.
We loved the overall energy of the place. Cristina made us feel at home. She is a great host.
Staff member helped us find cab on short notice and carried our bags two stories up to our room.
Small boutique hotel close to Santiago Cathedral. Walking distance to dining, park, and tourist locations. The owner, Cristina, is wonderful... Friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place!!
Absolutely perfect location - just around the corner from the cathedral. Charming balcony room overlooking another property's beautiful courtyard. Close to everything. Christina was very welcoming and helpful. I will stay here everytime I visit Santiago de compostela!
Santiago de compostelle
Great hotel Why not a perfect score ???? Details : the stairs are super steep (like often in Europe but steeper than most) and the bells through the night every 15 minutes!!!!’
Location was fantastic. Small tea/coffee maker would have been nice.
Location was spectacular. Steps from the cathedral. Air conditioner worked perfectly. Christina made our stay very comfortable and even made our dinner reservations for us.
Our stay was short but lovely, so close to the cathedral! Cristina was wonderful and gave us a restaurant recommendation we really enjoyed. She arranged a taxi for us as well so we didn't have to worry about that.
hostess was excellent (sorry I've forgotten her name) - She had already taken our bags up to the third floor (4th to us) for us by the time we got there. Rooms were quite small but well maintained and had an air conditioner that was very appreciated. Location was excellent - very close to the cathedral and shops and dining. Enjoyed our stay after walking the Camino!
A small place in the center of the town. The staff is extremely warm and helpful - arranged a car to pick up me at the airport, stayed till midnight to wait for me to check in and even to have carried my suitcase on spiral staircase to 3rd floor!
Beautiful small hotel, excellently located, very close to the Cathedral, shops & restaurants but on a quiet street. Spotlessly clean & interestingly decorated with lots of little unusual touches. Christina was very obliging & looked after us well.
Small hotel in the heart of the city with very helpful staff. Could not be better
Unique and lovely pension right near the cathedral
Charming place very near the cathedral in old city Santiago. Design of the property is gorgeous and the owner was incredibly accommodating with her communication and service. Highly recommended!
Cristina is an excellent host!!!
Wonderful, attentive staff and perfect location. The proprietor went above and beyond. Very highly recommended!
Small but superior location
Super location! Friendly part time attention, small but lighted designed room. Steep stair not for those mobility impaired. You can mot beat location though.
Charming place to stay.
Stayed at 7 different hotels on my journey through Spain and this was by far my favorite. Cristina was super helpful and accommodating. The room is small, but perfect for a couple nights. Everything you would want to see and do is within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. 10/10 stars!
Superb host, great location, beautiful room
Perfect location, room as described, newly renovated and superbly clean. The best part is the host - Cristina welcomes guests like it was her home. Everything I needed she helped me get/do, even stuff I didn’t realize I needed or wanted.
Book your stay with a gem
A cute gem well-priced boutique pension near the Cathedral, shopping and dining. Small room with very comfortable bed and pillow. Very clean with an en suite shower. Cristina is a very kind hostess who made arrangements for me to check in late after reception hours. She has taken extra steps for sanitizing for the pandemic.
Best one ever
It was great. Cristina was very nice, helpful, kind, and friendly. Everything was very clean and well decorated.
Excellent staff, and great private amenities very close to the Carhedral.
In the heart of town!
Fantastic hotel, right next door to Santiago de Compostela cathedral!
Love this place!
Our stay at Casa da Balconada was terrific, unfortunately just for our day. The location is in the middle of Santiago's Historical Center and close to it all. Cristina, the owner is an angel of personality and helpfulness. She knows her business and her city.
The location was perfect for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago. The room with French doors and balcony was iver the top cute. Christina was a wonderful host!
The bells of the cathedral kept waking me up at night. Nothing anyone can do about that.
Great location in the middle of old Santiago. Only problem is no vehicle access possible so take a small bag. Otherwise amazing location.
Wonderful, small (but not at all in a bad way) staying experience and the woman who runs it is unbelievably kind. My daughter and I had just finished walking the camino... neither of us speaks Spanish, and while our hostess had limited English she was very very patient with us and refused to give up until she understood what we were saying! Despite the language barrier
Love the place! Nice location! Close to the cathedral and restaurants!!
Not Impressed
We cancelled this hotel with Hotels .com and have been charged and with contact to both companies the hotel refuses to refund. Never to be trusted again. Not even the right dates of the booking either
A lovely property just a couple of minutes from the cathedral square. Everything there, modern facilities
Gracias Cristina!
Great Location
Fantastic location steps from the Cathedral, Pilgrims Museum and numerous restaurants. Rooms were very clean with a nice hairdo but very tight. Also had to trek up 3 flights of stairs with backpacks go get to the room. Overall though a good stay.
Location was ideal. The owner, Christina, was so welcoming and such a hard worker. The room was small but beautiful with exposed stone accent walls in bedroom and shower, electric outlets with night stand on both sides of bed, balcony with views, nice new windows for noise control and air conditioning. Only negative was shower was so small with only a narrow glass wall that water easily spills onto bath floor. Highly recommend this adorable little place.
Great location in the middle of the city, while feeling like a nice retreat when on the property. Has a cute bar inside, and great hostess.
We had a great stay at Pension Casa de Balconada. The service the moment we walked through the door was welcoming and all of the amenities were fine. The room was very clean and the bed was Our breakfast was a perfect little meal with yougart, Overall Christina was very accommodating and
Central historic city, very clean, balcony to street
The staff was amazing, location near the cathedral was great, room just a bit small.
Wonderful and relaxing
I spent several days here and didn't once regret my decision. My room was comfortable, wifi was fast, and having a cafe on the ground floor was so wonderful for bringing my morning coffee up to enjoy in my bed. It's very close to everything you need in Santiago de Compostela, but it's off on a quiet street that doesn't get much of the nighttime noise that other streets have. The staff are so helpful and responsive. Highly recommend.
Look out and see the cathedral
Fantastic location, steps from the cathedral and close to everything. Extremely helpful staff as well.
Great find by the cathedral
Christina at reception could not have been kinder or more helpful. Added to the superb location and the very comfortable bedrooms I found this an excellent place to stay. Big bargain considering the standard of the bedrooms and the location. Plus hearing the cathedral bells chime was lovely.
A good find
This is a great property. Close to the cathedral, recently rehabbed, and a helpful staff. Room is great for one and you should like the other person if two. It has a coffee bar one the street level and used mostly by guests.
Comfortable rooms w/ nice light/views
The location can’t be beat. Just close enough to the Cathedral but away from the noise. The rooms are small but charming with either a balcony if you have a room that ends in “2” or a sunny interior room with a view of the Santiago spire for those that end with “1.” The lobby food and drinks could be more upscale and better quality but it’s a tiny space and Santiago is at your fingertips, so head out! Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a great location.
