Pegasus Beach comfortable hotel

I stayed here twice on my trip to Sri Lanka. First time with a large group. The hotel is in a great spot on the beach. You can’t swim at the beach plus it’s rather dirty with rubbish. It has beautiful grounds and a pool to enjoy. Food is good, staff are good. Rooms need renovating but clean and functional. No lifts but the staff carry the luggage for you.

Good pool. We all, especially our grandsons, enjoyed the excellent buffets with all their choices. Ideal surroundings to relax in, but near enough to Colombo. Nice shower. Radu particularly helpful

Beautiful hotel. Excellent food and atmosphere at both restaurants. Neighborhood not so great so stay onsite and don’t wander.

Nice hotel but need a maintenance. Leak patches are visible. Customer service on phone needs a training.

Hotel is located in middle or maybe edge of industrial estate. A staff member raises boom gate, obviously labor cheaper than electricity. In fairness other places I've stayed since also seem to have excessive amounts of staff, many just standing around. But what's unique to Pegasus is that you walk through a metal detector to enter the hotel and your bags are put through an airport style x-ray machine. No explanation is given for this. Are they trying to prevent guests bringing in alcohol, is there a threat of an attack? A large amount of staff don't speak English, day receptionist that does needs customer service training and acts like you're bothering her if you approach the counter. Tired having been on multiple flights, my baggage not turning up at Colombo Airport, and just wanting to eat something before going to sleep early, being the only place to get food in the evening on site is a fish only restaurant, I asked for a menu for room service (why was there not one in room?), she tells me, someone will bring one to my room (obviously I wasn't in the room when asking her so why deliver it there?) But an hour goes by and no one ever brought one, I went back and told her, now you'd think that would be the time she'd just go and get one herself, but no she says go back to room someone will come. No one ever came. Staff trail you whenever you go outside, not sure if doing so for security reasons or they want tips as they ask if you'd like them to take your photo...

Great stay

Our stay at Pegasus was excellent. Staff were amazing and helpful, amenities were excellent. The only area for improvement would be an upgrade to their coffee available for breakfast. Drop filter just doesn't cut it.

The property was near the beach and has a walking path. Almost all the hotel staff and at the front desk were nice. The choice of dishes at the buffet were excellent. Most of them were delicious. And the staff at the restaurant were very obliging. My husband is a vegan. He had lots of choices and was very happy. But some at the front desk were not very helpful. Check-in were very quick and pleasant. When we wanted a hire a car to a certain time the staff didn’t do anything an then said no car available. And didn’t do anything. We managed to get a car which came to drop passenger at the it.

The facilities were poor and the hotel was very tired and neglected

The staff are friendly and polite. The brrakfast, lunch and buffet is good however can do with few more options. Wifi was a big issue and wifi router had to be installed as there were issues with public wifi. The in room dinning service and house keeping was hit and miss sevice wise. Hotel is not easily accessible and Uber and other hire vehicles do not often accept rides. There is no travel desk and minimum help to find cars for hire. In room dining service is very slow. Service that is promised in 15 minutes could get delayed by 60 minutes or more. The building needs a new coat of paint. Staff provide very odd reasons for declining requests and are not accomodating. Food is decent. Pretty yard. Beach is accesdible.

I have stayed at this property few times prior to COVID and financial crises. The staff is the same friendly, professional, courteous group who is so focused on excellent customer experience. The location is 15min to downtown Colombo and 5min to Wattala junction.

Friendly courteous and pleasant staff. Morning breakfast is fabulous. If i had to pick a fault it would be that the hotel needs a good paint job and some of the toilet fittings need a upgrading. The sraff wirk really hard for their money specially the young man on level 3 room service. I thing he needs a raise.

Great place for a couple nights

Nice place - good food, kids enjoyed the pool, and away from the chaos of Colombo. Rooms were nothing fancy and a little dated, but worked fine for our family. Staff was great and very accommodating.

Not a place for relaxing

Came for a recovery stay to get over our night flight and jet lag before seeing the rest of the country. The hotel rented out the pool and the area next to it to a school group so it wasn’t possible to relax and have a quiet day by the pool. The kids started coming onto our private balcony and looking into our room in the morning. Not a nice experience for a rest stay. Also you couldn’t go on the beach and have a nice walk because there were men as soon as you stepped off the hotel property trying to sell you taxis and whatever else they could think of. Just not a good start to a holiday really. Fish restaurant was good though!

There was no elevater, no fax mechine and no car/taxi and the property looked a bit out dated. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast buffet was really great.

Staff was outstanding - always goes above & beyond to service your needs. Quality and freshness was great. In room amenities could be improved but relative to Sri Lanka other 5 star hotels I stayed this was fine. Close proximity to Wattala town, Colombo, and safe location. Beach was clean.

Staff where friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and gardens wel kept. The lap pool is very clean ( its not a resort type pool). There really isnt much at all nearby, its quite isolated. The breakfast is not good. Plenty of food choices not done particularily well. We used this hotlel at the end of our 14 hour journey to get a good nights recovery sleep - which its good for.

Excellent hotel 4 times I have now stayed here with no issues very happy with all staff, they no me well now and I will be back in June

Great value for money

Hi very enjoyable stay with excellent service especially from Gayan Wakishta F&B Manager who looked after my elderly parents every need. All the staff in the restaurant were very attentive and customer orientated. Will certainly come again. Live music on some of the evenings as well as pianist in the foyer made this a very enjoyable break for me. With views of the Colombo Skyline from the beach this was truly an enjoyable stay.

Great friendly helpful staff

The beach needed a clean up. Although it's not the hotels private beach,the path leads directly to it. There was plastic rubbish everywhere.

Very average hotel next to a scruffy public beach. Noise from the hotel nightclub and corridor very poor, no pleasant night sleep here. A bit out of the way, hotel has no onsite facilities to organise trips and transport, except local uber drivers , who can take up to 40 mins to arrive, and have no local knowledge except a satnav. Buffet food ought to be better for the price. Only saving grace, is the separate restaurant on site that was excellent, and I am grateful it was there.

The staff was very friendly, courteous, professional and competent. Always thrive to deliver a superb customer experience and staff goes out of way to do this. Property is clean and best value on all aspects for money. Very conveniently located to Colombo, airport, and high-way entry points.

Best place in Sri Lanka so far

Hotel was clean and reasonably modern. Staff were very friendly. Food was excellent although Buffet Dinner was a tad expensive for what it was. Room service was very reasonably priced AND very tasty. Breakfast was amazing. Gym was well equipped and swimming pool very clean.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel but huge problems getting a taxi in fact it’s a nightmare, they need to sort the taxi issues out or may be get a contract with a local taxi company, the tuk tuks are avail but not all the time and the tuk tuk drivers all charge different amounts taking you to the same place, the hotel room cleaners never leave you enough sugar and tea bags, otherwise nice hotel

Super helpful staff

This is a nice hotel, conveniently located for Colombo. It has a good beachside location, although there isn't much beach to speak of at this time (although this will change throughout the year, of course). The restaurant has a lovely aspect, looking out on to well-kept grounds and, beyond them, the sea. Breakfast was nice with a very wide range of choices, both local and Western. The room was clean and the food we ordered through room service was yummy. By far the best thing about this hotel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, who could not have done more to make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I needed to stay in the same location.

Hotel close to beach though we did not go to the beach. Had a decent size swimming pool. Staff were helpful Room was dirty and we had to change our room, Manoj the supervisor was very apologetic

I went this hotel early morning st 6am obviously my check in time is 2pm in the afternoon noon so I have explained to the receptionist my situation room was ready 7.30 am so staff are very friendly

nice hotel close to family and friends as we lived locally before we left for Australia.

Was ok..however with so many weddings, functions etc the noise outside at times was unbearable. Food expensive

Indifferent Staff

Bad location - way out of town, approach road very bad. The staff wasn't courteous at all. Without any other check-in happening, took 15 minutes to get the luggage picked up from porch to Reception. Overall a disappointment that I booked this property.

Main thing = pleasantness of staff in all Departments. Would be glad to stay there again.

Lovely hotel

Excellent hotel, wonderfull staff, food was nice, rooms were always cleaned well, a good location nice and quiet, the only thing that was a let down was the WiFi kept going off due to mobitel and I had to purchase WiFi from London which is expensive as I was in srilanka but other then that a wonderfull hotel I will be back soon

Very good veritty,weatern/Asian & international mix. The staff very friendly and service excellent. Chef Chinthaka Jayasekara and the restaurant manger were exceptionally very good.

Nice hotel close to the beach

Friendly staff, helpful front desk, enjoyed the breakfast & lots of space in the garden. To get to the hotel from the main road is a bit of a task due to traffic congestion during peak hours.

An excellent hotel with friendly staff . Facilities and the rooms very are clean. Not much to do within walking distance , unsafe to swim on the beach , however a clean small pool to relax by . Great seafood restaurant almong with a nice bar to relax

Ok for one night

Ok for an overnight but we stayed 4 nights and found lots of bad things for our stay.Felt underdressed wearing shorts and t-shirt as the hotel was packed with lots of weddings at weekend and party's.Ok if your a local celebrating

Great stay close to the airport

Stayed here one night. Room was nice. Not much in the area. Food was some of the best I had while in Sri Lanka.

I booked the Reservation for 3 adults but on arrival I was told its only 2 adults and I had to pay for the 3rd person. Your preferences say 2 single beds and 1 double bed. Why pay for the third? disappointed.

Great place to stay with a great pool, the Fishery restaurant is very good offering fresh fish and seafood caught locally. The staff makes this hotel everyone is very friendly and willing to help. Would definatley return !

Good Hotel nice environment

Sheets and pillow cases had dust . No waste bin was available in the room and the wash room. Ac was not controllable . Reception raised so many questions which I didn't like. They were reluctant to bring my luggage from the vehicle which was parked in the car park .

When I was checking in they were like curious about my booking. First they said that there was no vacant room. Asked too many questions even after I showed them the confirmation e mail from the hotels.com booking. I had to wait around half an hour time to get a room.

Overall the stay was nice. Very clean and neat. Service was poor When we check out the hotel the receptionist was asking how many towels wer there in the room .its like we steal the towels that was quit embarasing.nothing much than that

Just arrived in Sri Lanka and this was the first out of 4 hotels we were going to stay in. It was a lovely place with lovely helpful staff. The grounds were lovely and a choice of two eating areas. The beach wasn't brilliant and couldn't swim in the sea but apart from that it was a good couple of nights. Left early to head off to a different location and the hotel kindly prepared a breakfast pack for the journey which was welcomed. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again if I returned to the country.

Worst stay in a hotel.

Worst hotel. Everytning is so dirty and unorganized. We tried breakfast and dinner there and the food was awful. It ruined my stay in Sri Lanka and I don't recommend it at all. When I opened one of the drawers as soon as we arrived to put my clothes in, I found left over medicine and pills. This shows that the house keeping isn't efficient. Internet connectivity is poor. Don't spend your money in Pegasus reef! Only good thing was the driver we got. He was polite.

Very nice stay outside Colombo City

We were very pleased with our stay at Pegasus Reef. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and our room was very comfortable. From check-in to check-out the staff was very attentive and helpful. The facilities on-site were very much appreciated, from the gym to the bar and restaurant. Great location on the beach, though we didn't venture out to the water.

Quiet & Relaxing

A great place to stay mid week. Not central to anything, but if it is a relaxing getaway your are looking for then this is a great place to unwind.

hotel was excellent. Food average. Staff very helpful. Bedroom valet extraordinary good swimming pool wonderfully warm and staff helpful unfortunately got my wallet and phone stolen in a train from MT lavinia..but it was overcrowded and I shall know next time to be more observant.. we asked if it was okay to stay until 12 midnight which is when we had to leave for the airport. We were told it was ok but we would have to pay 50 dollars since we would be overstaying. A sharp-eyed clerk, as we were about to leave the hotel, spotted that we had paid for 11 nights but only had ten. therefore we hadn't needed to pay the 50 dollars so it was refunded to us in cash. all in all a very nice stay

Great stay, Great location

Pleasant. I enjoyed. But it is far from Colombo that is bad. One thing i want to add here. I tried to call India from room,but i could not connect. Need to look into this. Thanks

Nice Little Couple Weekend

we arrived to the hotel through expedia , we were warmly welcome to the hotel with welcome juice, and given us the our room on time, hotel staff were well prepared for our requirements , and gave us full facilities need, pool is clean and nice , beds are comfy as well , if you looking to plan your vacation with out spending so much money , i believe pegasus reef hotel is the best facility for your needs

Disappointing

Rather disappointed. Good rooms, staff but location was bad - isolated with no means to get out except by hotel taxi. Limited choices in the sole restaurant. No spa, gym etc. just a couple of boring shops. Not suitable for tourists. Certainly not 3.5 stars
