It was a perfect hostel

The neighborhood has a traditional and beautiful architecture. Walking distance from Kyoto station.

The host was very friendly, the property clean, and the location was perfect for my itinerary

All around very dirty/gross hostel. I would go anywhere but here, unless you’re in a pinch.

Great for sleeping, as for other things...

We were not expecting to have a shared toilet and showers, and rental towels. The picture showed a varanda but there was none in our room. Furthermore, our room had only 2 sockets. On the other hand, the futons were extremely comfortable and the AC was a blessing during a very hot weather.

Traditional style house with cozy family vibes

Peace house Sakura is like a little dorm, very homie. If you're a student trying to find a place to stay at but not be by yourself the entire time this is the place to be. It's super cute with an open kitchen and sitting area. It's a great deal. I do want to mention that since the kitchen and living room is a shared space it can sometimes get messy. For my fellow introverts if you get uncomfortable with eating with strangers it may not be for you. You can not eat in your room but during breakfast you usually have the living room to your self.

Unclean and noisy

We felt the beds were unclean and smelly. I understand that hotel rule states we are not allowed to eat in our rooms but the common room was also unclean and I noticed one of your staffs even slept there using his phone therefore we didn't feel like coming to the common room at all but we had no option! In addition to this, we felt it was too noisy thanks to the people who were staying next to our room. We hardly got enough sleep during our stay and we really wanted to check out asap. I understand its out of your control to make the guests keep quiet after 10pm but I am writing this to keep this in mind before they book a room here. Toilets and shower were clean through.

Great location for sightseeing, nice friendly n helpful staff, would stay here again if in Kyoto. Enjoyed our stay here.

Good vibe

To be honest, almost everything. It was not clean, we are not allowed to eat at the rooms (like we are kids at highschool) and the bad was horrible. The shower was great! Pretty much clean, and hot water..

Nice guesthouse, nice staff. In the middle of Kyoto , a lot of temples nearby!

it is in a convenient location, 20-30 minutes walk from Kyoto station, Staff are friendly and speak English. There are shared bath, toilet, and kitchen. It is good for travels looking for cheap and comfortable. There is no room service for cleaning etc.

bad experience of late check-in

arrived late but has notified the hotel.wrong key given and couldnt enter the room after so many trials. was not told how to get help if anything or even the staff room.bothered a really cold spoken long term guest there who was a japanese which i first thought the hotel assistant because of my problem and get bad reaction.

Rating for dormitory. Most uncomfortable bunks ever slept on. No thought or concern in layout or functionality. Junk piled in front of building. Anywhere in Kyoto or neighboring towns would be better.

No better place to go to for Backpackers!

Lovely staff, in case you are arriving before or after check-in hours, just write them an email in advance. There's a kitchen, so you can prepare your own food, coffee and tea are provided complimentary. Kitchen is common ars as well, what makes it so easy to have a chat with all the other guests. They even have a washing machine and dryer. The hostel is in a central location. There's nothing more you could with for.

Great people and great area it to be in Difficult to find but other than that, overall 5/5

The staff was very helpful and wi-fi connection very good. But the room was in very bad shape - it was in the basement, aesthetically unpleasant and there was some kind of cockroach crawling on the floor.

very affordable

This hostel is a very friendly place, my stay was good. However, it is a hostel and even though I had a private room I would say it is very very basic. Great if are on a budget though!

Location to travel is medium. Room smells, shared bathroom and toilet, living room very small.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this guesthouse, the first guesthouse either of us has ever stayed at. We were both pleasantly suprised. The staff were great - all nice people from around the world, and the guesthouse felt like home (it literally was a renovated home turned into a guesthouse). The room was clean and comfortable. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed it and would stay again.

Good Staff but Fair Room

Nice & helpful staff, can communicate with English/Mandarin/Japanese. Location very close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, besides, there are some 24-hour convenience stores & restaurant close at 4am nearby. The Room cleanliness/comfort and soundproof is not very good.

Clean and comfortable on a budget

Tucked in the narrow streets of Kyoto, Peace House Sakura can be found in an unassuming building with a bike rack out front. Expect Spartan, but clean and comfortable furnishings in the rooms (I booked a double room for myself). You also have the option of staying in a mixed dorm, which was a bit more social than I preferred for a contemplative trip to Kyoto. The hotel is waking distance from the subway and bar several of the city's most venerated temples. You'll also have the option to rent a bike from the proprietors. They were kind enough to let me leave my bags after checkout so I could continue wandering Kyoto before heading out of town. They have great AC in the rooms, a plus on a sweltering August day.

極度憤怒的住宿體驗

住咗咁多間酒店從來冇遇過一間差到極嘅旅館、就係呢一間、最初匆忙地訂房、訂完之後先至睇comment、睇咗好多劣評都話污糟、但係評語係2015年、心想相隔九年應該有改善啩、怎料今次自己踩地雷、一去到感覺店主不太有善、他是個老外、進房之後嚇了一跳、成間房只得兩張它它me、原來係一間百無旅館、房間不到50尺、冇垃圾桶、冇紙巾、冇小枱仔、更冇電視、最搞笑是窗簾只可以遮住個窗三分之二、房內有一個櫃只可以將瑣碎嘅嘢全部放在櫃裏當作一張枱用、去到洗手間用完之後搵唔到個沖水掣、搞咗好耐，後來見到個職員佢話我知個水掣在馬桶嘅後方、真是笑不出、屙完之後要個頭落去廁所先至可以沖水、從未見過呢個奇景、到沖涼嘅時候，見到所有洗頭水護髮素之類嘅東西掉在地上、真是難看、怎料當沖涼的時候，發覺所有用品只剩下一成少得可憐、當時氣到真是即刻想離開、第二天見到職員話佢知浴室沒有鹼液洗頭水、他說會安排怎料晚上沖涼時、多咗一樽唔知是什麼東西，其他的完全是空瓶，到第二朝早上在廚房煮早餐，枱上很多油鹽醬油調味瓶、全部都是空空的、什麼也沒有只得一樽樽空瓶放在枱上、就是俗語所謂的（裝假狗）後來發覺成個大廳一盒紙巾都冇、見到職員問佢，佢好似好愕然、唔知佢係新來還是什麼後來她拿了一卷廁所用的紙巾交給我、當時真是哭笑難分、慢慢越來越多人開始煮早餐、垃圾桶滿瀉垃圾、沒有人理會、真不知道這間是什麼旅館、一個沒有良心的經營者、怎可能生存到今天、心想日本人經營的旅館，不可能是這樣的、我都去日本玩耍這麼多年住過這麼多酒店旅館民宿、從來冇見過這樣差的現象、後來我才發現原來經營者不是日本人，那我明白了。

身近な京都を楽しむ。

　京都観光に最適、ゲストさんとオーナーは、ほぼ外国の方だったけど、非日常と京都を楽しむには良かったです。チェックアウトも11時だったので、早朝散歩して休憩に使えてました。今度は単身旅行に使いたいと思いました。

安い施設なので仕方ありませんが、シャワーが出ないことや、トイレが流れないなどは改善の必要があるかと思います。

とても気に入ったが、バックパッカー向け。

Les parties communes ainsi que la chambre étaient sales, les futons pas assez épais et inconfortables, de la moisissure dans la salle d'eau et sur les murs de la chambre, de la poussière et des miettes sur le sol de la chambre, équipement sale et défectueux.

Nous avions déjà logé là bas en étant plutôt satisfaites alors nous voulions recommencer mais cela étais complètement différent de la première fois on a eu mal au dos et c’était super bruyant

個室に宿泊しましたが部屋は埃っぽいです。敏感な方はくしゃみと鼻水止まらないと思います。連れがそうでした。あと部屋が汗臭い感じの臭いがしますが、部屋にいると慣れます。一回外に出ると入る時臭うなって毎回思いました。加えて壁はものすごく薄いです隣人の咳き込む声などがモロに聞こえてきます。 ですが、値段はものすごく安いのでただ寝るだけの人にはいいかもしれません！スタッフは白人の方でとてもいい方です。あと1階の共有スペースで海外の方とも交流できると思います。銭湯も近くに二つあり、二年坂等にも徒歩で行けますし、立地はいいと思います。

カーテンレールが外れている。押し入れが突出していて危ない。浴室がせまい。一日目は、驚いたが、二日目は、慣れてきて、宿泊料金が安いので、これで、充分かなと思えた。

環境安靜但隔音很差

在安靜的住宅區，我們在最後時限前到，人員也很親切幫我們CHECKIN 隔音非常差 連開門聲打噴嚏都一清二楚 房間滿小的也有點舊 洗手間跟洗澡間一樓一間

离景点近

刚进入房间，有点冷，开了空调一段时间后暖和了不少。这里离清水寺等景点近，走路就可以去。这个价格可以了。榻榻米睡得还可以。

Good stay in Osaka

Great place. Very nice and kind staff, who loves to talk. Good bar, and bathing conditions and also fine sleeping conditions.

Cheap stay near Gion area

We stayed Private Double Room for one night, and it was okay. It was cheap stay and it is as it is. Do not expect fancy stay, just expect as cheap stay at Kyoto Gion area. The room was bigger than I expected and bed was comfy. Shared bathroom is clouded in the morning, so I recommend you to go earlier. Wall isn't much sound proof so ear plugs are recommended.

영어가 안되면...

우선...일본 게스트하우스에서 일본어가 아닌 영어로만 대응하는게 좀 힘들었고... 생각보다 좁은 방에 짐을 보관 할만한 공간이 없어서 다들 방 바닥에 그냥 짐을 두고 있다보니 더 공간이 좁은것 같고, 복잡했습니다. 하루정도는 나쁘지 않은데 장기간은 좀 불편합니다. 다만, 거실에 모여서 영어로 서로 인사하고, 이야기 하고 노는 모습은 보기 좋았습니다.

Whole thing stinks. Bathroom and floor are dirty. If your not on a tight budget, go somewhere else.
