this hotel has the best staff ever. the grounds are sublime, the position in town is perfect. been there about 8 times, longing to return.
Amazing staff and wonderful garden and pool area, great breakfast. Loved everything about it.
Two night stay before returning to UK ROOM 1006 had dodgy electrical plug socket in bathroom. Connection shorted. Room & hotel tired in need of refurbishment. Staff very helpful Corniche restaurant excellent as always. Lovely food at reasonable price
Lovely garden oasis with old world charm. The Pavillion is more our style to stay in than the original Winter Palace. The rooms had lovely views of the garden and service was excellent
Perfect stay
Absolutely amazing stay, it’s beautiful and the staff are extremely professional and friendly.
Excellent property, we loved the room service!!
Great property but staff require training
It was a good hotel in luxor. Both Pavillion and Winter Palace shares the same facility. Quite decent and nice. Wait staff and other staff require further training in respect of hospitality. Shout out to Abdellah at the front desk.
The Winter Pavilion was a beautiful property, with shared amenities of the Winter Palace. The staff were exceptional and the grounds were impeccable. 10/10!
An excellent historique property
Hi
Good
Wonderful hotel with incredible amenities and courteous staff.
The pool was closed for construction , no warning .we would have booked somewhere else . Stricter dress code for men . Room was disappointing . We were hounded non stop by locals once we left the property .
Luxor in July
Nice pool area, plenty of room, the waiters go above and beyond and bring you extra stuff, freshly squeezed juices, extra fries, etc. Bed was very comfortable and a nice balcony. Room service was quick and well presented.
Quiet hotel with beautiful grounds. A 5 minute walk to Luxor Temple was a plus! Comfy beds and very quiet which was perfect for a good nights sleep. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will recommend!
This has been the most beautiful hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Sometimes I wanted to stay at the hotel and lounge than to go sightseeing! Amazing, highly recommend. I will be dreaming of this hotel until we come back!
The hotel was in a beautiful setting of gardens. The staff was gracious and eager to accommodate my requests, with it was giving directions, making restaurant reservations, or needing a breakfast box to go. The hotel and setting were a quiet oasis after full days of sightseeing. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel 20 minutes from airport. Good bars and restaurants on property the hotel is attached to the Palace Hotel which is beautiful. Must dress for dinner and the bar in there. Very helpful and friendly Staff. Pool area lovely. Would recommend.
Stuff was super nice
Avoid Restaurant 1886. Bad food but expensive.
The Winter Palace and gardens continue to be beautiful and elegant, and its newer Pavillon annex is convenient and comfortable. However, its signature dining room (Restaurant 1886) supposedly serving a version of French cuisine is surprisingly tiny and unimpressive, probably due to a lack of customers warned ahead about the overpriced, bland, poorly prepared and disappointing food.
An oasis of calm Great staff friendly and amenable A
We had awful experience at this hotel: from the gridy poorly mannered hotel staff and management to dirty old rooms. Simply awful Beware.
Aweful experience
This is the worst hotel in all my travels. Terrible management, filthy old rooms, terrible food. Simply awful experience. Please save your money and book different hotel.
A verdant oasis
I stay in a lot of hotel rooms over the course of a normal year, and I’ve never had a stronger desire to write a review than I do today. Briefly: this hotel and especially its staff are simply superb, full stop. It’s difficult to overstate how lovely the grounds of this hotel are — it’s a truly verdant oasis in the center of an otherwise rather dusty (if still lovely!) city. But none of us travels to a city just to spend time on a hotel’s grounds, and when you do decide to venture out to the bustling city center, the river promenade, or Luxor Temple itself, all you need to do is cross the street. They’re all literally feet away. But as great as the hotel is, that’s not why i’m writing this review today — I’m writing this review because the staff of this hotel, in particular a staff member named Ola, went above and beyond in multiple different ways to help make our stay there with our elderly family comfortable by caringly accommodating some of our requests that I’d honestly describe as somewhat unreasonable. We felt so welcomed and cared for that I can’t imagine going anywhere else if we were ever in Luxor again.
Everything was excellent
All staff there is super helpful and kind , great location
The Pavillon shares garden and pool facilties with the Winter Palace Hotel built in 1886. Celebrities, Royalty and Heads of State stay there. Pavillon rooms have garden or pool view. Clean bedding and towels daily. Pool towels provided. Stunning tropical gardens, with flamingos, are absolutely immaculate. Excellent breakfasts can be taken in the garden in peace and quiet.
Breakfast staff
Staff at pool was nice and cordial including in the Morning at breakfast
Highly recommend.
I would recommend. A fraction of the cost compared to next door. The swimming pool is a huge plus. Breakfast was great. Includes made to order eggs.
Wonderful property. My only ding is the pool not being open past sunset. But that is all of Egypt as a whole not just this property so that won’t change. Additionally they need new TVs in the rooms. Mine was very old and had to get maintenance up just to help turn it on because it didn’t work. Fantastic views and great staff
We enjoyed the facility and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t like that we had to wear formal clothes to have dinner at all the restaurants. It was over 100°. I also didn’t like the food that much at dinner. I ordered pasta with mixed seafood and I honestly couldn’t find more than 2 small tiny pieces of crab. The best thing about the hotel was the staff and the garden.
The hotel is nice. The service is excellent. Here I must mention Mr Rashedi and Joacanda. However the hotel needs maintenance. It is run down. Breakfast is poor for a 5 star hotel. No coffee maker in room which is also weird for a 5 star hotel
Beautiful garden, close to everything and CLEAN rooms (:
The staff was very helpful and the gardens were magnificent.
Everything was simply above expectations.
The staff were very nice. Adam, who works in the kitchen, made some good bakes. The garden was beautiful! The hotel does need a makeup because the plugs were falling out of the sockets. Excellent location though.
This is our 3rd time here in this beautiful hotel. We are always very satisfied with the staff and the management of this hotel. At my day of leaving I got sick and my plane went very late in the evening. Not only I could stay much longer in my room but also I received fruit basket. Thank you again and we will be back next year for sure.
Perfect location
Perfect location close to the different sights, amazing garden and swimming pool. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was extremely professional.
Cigarette Smoke.
Hotel smells of strong cigarette smoke. It is Egypt, so there are not many nice options. I would say just atay at the Winter Palace.
Need to clean!
Rooms and hallways need a complete renovation and cleaning!
The garden breakfast is highlight of total, drink coffe and overlook the banana and orange tree is awesome.
Great place to stay in Luxor. The amenities and the people are what you expect from one of the best hotels in town. The swimming pool is an oasis, a real one. Thanks
I was expecting better
Table in the balcony so dirty with dust from long time ago. The food was not good
Do not confuse with Winter Palace!
The carpet is heavily soiled in the hotel hallways. The room had a balcony with a chair and the cushions were heavily stained. Toilet seat did not stay up. In general the winter pavilion wing is very poorly maintained and should not be considered a luxury hotel but because it shares the grounds with the winter palace hotel it is marketed as such.
Very nice hotel with beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Tour organized through the hotel was great, although they did accidentally charge it to the wrong room. Easy walk to Luxor Temple. Was a great relief to spend a couple of days there after the noise and heat of Cairo - wish I could have stayed longer!
The swimming pool is great. The hotel is very well maintained... and not expensive.
Wonderful stay ruined by staff shouting at me
have just come to the end of a glorious 5 nights staying here and overall we have had a great stay. Winter palace is a beautiful, historic hotel on the banks of the Nile and since I visited here many years ago I dreamed of staying. Mohamed Ali, the chief concierge was amazing at helping us book everything and was so helpful and kind. The room was spotless and so comfortable and housekeeping was perfect. We went to the royal bar daily and it was beautiful, amazing service and really lovely staff, one of the men working there looked after us every day and was so amazing! The staff at breakfast were so lovely and the breakfast was tasty and delicious! The grounds of the hotel were so beautiful, amazing ancient palm trees, gorgeous flamingos that were rescued and gorgeous indigenous birds. The gardens are kept so beautifully and it is a really special place to stay. I feel like giving this place a one star owing to one really nasty and unpleasant experience but I feel it wouldn't be fair. I was taking photographs and has asked permission from one staff member who said to please feel free to go where I please. another staff member, a male, started shouting at me to get down off the stairs, made a huge scene in front of everyone and humiliated me in front of a foyer full of people. I have never experienced such behaviour in a 5 star hotel. Disgusting and I will be emailing Sofitel and hotel management about this.
Exceptional property and hotel Staff. Everyone was very professional, friendly, and welcoming. This resort style hotel is in a great location near Luxor Temple & is Highly recommended to our family, friends, and anyone visiting Luxor for the first time.We can’t wait to return and plan to stay here at Pavilion Winter Palace again. Thank you!
Staff lovely, pool great, gardens beautiful, thank you!
The property itself is gorgeous, and the staff are attentive. My only complaint is that there are predatory taxi drivers, carriage drivers and felucca salespeople waiting for guests to exit the property.
Everything was good, especially the breakfast and the staff. It is a shame that the swimming pool closes at dusk, even when it is over 35 degrees out. Also, the AC in the room could not really be regulated. On or off.
Excellent location to walk around the town. Decent breakfast but wonderful pool and the garden.
beautiful landscape, good food, close to attraction
Absolutely fantastic: an oasis
Cannot recommend the hotel highly enough! Beautiful gardens, beautiful pool, great room and fantastic staff! Cannot fault it and is a lovely oasis in the heat of Luxor…
Brilliant large balconies
My favorite hotel in Egypt. Would definitely stay here again. The courtyard grounds were beautifully landscaped, the room was clean and tastefully decorated, the reception staff was professional and courteous - special thanks to the manager for letting me eat breakfast in the restaurant slightly before opening hours. I had a tour scheduled early in the A.M and forgot to ask for a breakfast box.
Perfect Choice for Luxor
After my dissatisfaction with the hotel in Giza the Pavilion Winter Luxor is a breath of fresh air. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, reception was pleasant, my room was spacious and comfortable, the shower worked well, and the bathroom and room were nicely appointed. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great, with many choices and the Hotel was very conscientious about cleanliness and the spread of Covid. Everybody was requested to wear a mask indoors and the cutlery and napkin came sealed in plastic in the restaurant. There was hand sanitizer everywhere, and every day I received 2 bottles of water. I’m a little concerned about all the plastic waste being generated but you can’t always have everything. My balcony was lovely, but it’s pretty hot in Luxor, you know. The air conditioning worked well, lighting was quite good in the room, and the furniture was comfortable. As an added bonus the Luxor Temple is a couple of blocks away and the Nile is right there. There are restaurants and shopping in the immediate area and so there is always something to see or do. I’d stay here again as it was an excellent value for the price.
One of the most beautiful places Ive ever been. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The breakfast buffet was amazing!!!
AMAZING
I am so in LOVE with this place everything was amazing!!! The staff is so friendly and helpful! The breakfast is perfect!!!
At first, I wasn't too sure what it meant for this hotel to share facilities with the Winter Palace proper, but soon realized that this hotel can be thought of as being an extension of the actual Winter Palace hotel, and you could go to the same facilities entirely, (and entry is from the same side). The facilities themselves, with the private garden/ park and pool, were themselves very relaxing, and nice to look at from either a balcony, or when eating breakfast out on the patio. Although it wasn't quite as fancy as the main winter palace, the pavilion itself was still quite nice. The main lobby was nicely setup, and the breakfast restaurant had a good selection. The rooms themselves I'd say were pretty nice, and were what I'd expect from a nicer hotel, inside or outside of Egypt. That is not to say I didn't run into a few issues. For instance, some of the furniture was a little older, (I did have a chair break on me). However, they were quick to replace it or have it fixed. I also did have some confusion when meeting guides in the lobby, so be sure to clarify that it is the pavilion. The hotel being where it is also means they are quite a few taxi's/ horse carriages that will try to sell you services. Overall, this was a very good and comfortable place to stay with a convenient location on the Nile. I'd definitely recommend it and would stay here if I was in Luxor again.
We stayed for only one night, but the hotel staff accommodated us for laundry service so that we could pick our clothes up before check out
Huge room, friendly staff, nice swimming pool and great breakfast.
One of the best hotels we stayed in Egypt. It is located in the center of the town walking distance from the Luxor temple yet very calm & quiet atmosphere. The garden is green and nice and we loved walking in it. I booked two side by side rooms with balconies overlooking the garden. Everything was good and modern inside the room except for the carpet which needs some update. The breakfast buffet was awesome with lot of varieties. Outdoor seating facing the greeneries made our breakfast experience even better. Staying here won't give you the view of the Nile river but the view of the garden makes up for it. Overall, it was a good stay and I would stay here again without any hesitation. Thanks to the wonderful staff of the hotel starting from the front desk, restaurant, and gate man for making our stay here fun and memorable.
Very nice
Beautiful, elegant historic hotel with great location, facilities, services and friendly staff.
Great choice of food at breakfast, staff efficient and kind, great location right in front of the Nile and 5 minutes walking away from the Luxor Temple. I recommend!
fancy hotel with fancy dining options, nice pool, nicer staff
Lovely Hotel ...
Lovely hotel can’t fault room, gardens, breakfast (maybe more fruit options) . Originally booked one night now on my third and possibly more great value for money.
The gardens are just fantastic! The staff is great. The rooms need some renovations and updates.
There are no perks and it was quite expensive to not have any. However, the staff are very kind and are always willing to go above and beyond to help.
Best hotel
This is amazing hotel located near to luxor temple. Breakfast was delicious. Customer service excellent. Rooms are very clean. The garden incredible amazing . Highly recommend Thankfully to be there ❤️
Very friendly staff, the hotel has fabulous architecture and very authentic vibes.
Royal grandeur and treatment at a very affordable price
Wonderful Stay
The hotel has a really wonderful location right next to Luxor Temple, the food was so nice, rooms are clean, and the staff is very friendly. The garden is one of most joyful parts of the stay for early morning and late night walks. Definitely to stay here again.
They changed my booking to another hotel without informing me!!!!
Cut short!
Cut short due to various airlines stopping flying, we had to leave 1/2 way through our 4 week stay Not the hotel's fault - I can only praise them for the professional way they assisted us to leave so quickly. We started to hear about it at 15:00 and by 20:00 or so had a flight booked for 06:15 the next morning We'll be back - to misquote a famous film line
Staff very helpful. Gardens an obvious oasis in the desert and a credit to the team of gardeners
The premises at the hotel are beautiful. It feels as if one is staying outside of the city center. No complaints about the hotel, location or the service. The staff was always available to help. The breakfast was delicious
Great history, beautiful gardens and pool. Great place to come home after visiting all the temples and tombs. They should include a reasonably priced Egyptian food option on site. The restaurants are a bit pricy.
Great garden. Wi-Fi was terrible. Walls are paper thin so I could hear the person in the next room snoring.
Location is everything
Wonderful location with beautiful grounds! The room was not quite up to typical Sofitel standards, a bit run down.
Best hotel in Luxor
It was amazing stay in this hotel for 10 days everything was fantastic especially Mr Mahmoud restaurant manger and his team. Especial thanks to housekeeper for the good work they did for me.
Such a wonderful hotel, superb gardens, wonderful architecture and such great staff
Very nice hotel, we love it. A nice place to see Nile River.
The gardens were very nice to walk through and breakfast was very nice to enjoy oudide. Mohammed at breakfast treated us special and was so kind and helpful. The people at the desk were most helpful with our questions. We did have a couple of bugs in our room which may have come in through the patio door.
Beautiful view over the garden - could've sat on that balcony for hours! Only difficulty was being woken up by the muezzin first thing at dawn, a speaker for which is situated right next to the hotel.
A haven from the hustle and hustling of the streets of Luxor. As soon as you pass into the hotel grounds you are relaxed, with the beautiful gardens and pool, and the staff cannot do enough to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. The room in the Pavillion was very comfortable, and at the same time being able to just walk across the garden and enjoy the splendour of the Palace bar, etc, was just fantastic.
Wonderful place in every respect
The property is linked to the winter palace and has access to all it’s great facilities. However the rooms were not clean, the electricity was down the first night of the stay, the bathroom had poor drainage and the images of the rooms are nothing like what you get - I’m not sure why this hotel gets such good reviews.
Budget hotel. Great location and staff. Very accomodating. What it lacks in grandeur (compared to winter palace) its staff make up in friendliness. Internet was SLOW but breakfast was great. Any place that can make me an omellate is a winner. Stay away from the poolside restaurant and go to nearby Al Sahaby restaurant(10 min walk) for food. Great place to walk at night as right on the newly opened walk/ promenade by the Nile. Sure winner. Great 👍
Average room.
It was a family trip and expected the hotel room to be matching what was posted online but completely different from pictures. It is below average.
This is a great property/ the best in Luxor. Stay in the Pavilion Wing and you get a view of the Palace. Plus breakfast is served in the garden.
Thank you for being so kind and professinal
The staff at the Pavillon were outstanding. I was sick and had an eye infection and they were so kind and nice to me. Unfortunately, I can't remember everyone's name and because of my eye condition, I could not really write well. However, I want to thank each and everyone who took care of me. Thank you to the wonderful manager and everyone else in that hotel.
there are 2 properties, Pavillon which is a dump and Palace which is better. Pavillon is at the back of the Palace and the condition inside is bad. the carpet can use vacuum to say the least.
An oasis of calm in Luxor. Fantastic pool and surrounding gardens. Great service.
very good location but a little bit walking distance across the garden to reach the hotel
The ground is very nice but breakfast was a joke.
