Technically you are not staying at Uroa beach, there is a shuttle that takes you to Uroa beach Free of charge every hour. The beach at the hotel is far less than desirable. The check in process is a joke and aggravating after a long trip. The Maasi, security is a pretty interesting concept, they very helpful. The food sucked, and are no 2nd options around the area to be had, nor any nightlife either after 930 you’re pretty much help hostage. The internet doesn’t work, I can’t count how many times I heard people complaining about the internet. Someone’s complaining about as I write this, I commandeered the Internet passcode for the reception desk that seems to be the only place that the Internet is working .

There are a few things that could make this a much better place. First - the menu is terrible and the food is not very good. It is over-priced for the portion size and the selection is extremely limited. Also, the beach is filled with trash. Just a few hours of work to pick up the garbage would make a huge difference in the quality of the beach. I know it is garbage that washes in from the ocean and not just people dumping, but if the staff made an effort to clean it, it would show greater appreciation for the environment. Also, it is the World Cup but they only had one television playing in a crowded area even though there were many tvs around the resort they never would turn them on.

It's Complicated to check in.clients who have already reached the hotel should be facilitated by paying cash without going through too many process of checking online .slow service from groomers, the food is nice but staff shoud get some training on hospitality.too much familiarity with the guests is not a good thing.apart from those few things that, didn't went well , we can recommend it to a friend.

Surprisingly Good

We got a very cheap last minute price via Expedia but reading some negative reviews we didn't know what to expect. We liked Paridise Beach Resort. As others have mentioned you can't swim in the sea but there is a nice sandy beach & surrounding gardens with 'loungers' & a few hammocks. Also area beside pool. We went to the other beach & it was even nicer & we were able to swim. We had lunch there & were very disappointed by the food & thought it was expensive compared to other better hotels on the island. We went B&B and you can buy a buffet lunch for $17 or dinner $25 (including 1 drink). We upgraded to inclusive for $35 pp for the last day. The buffet food was OK rather than good. The furniture around the resort was very interesting, often made out of old boats. The rooms however are more basic, we had a double bed & a single bed in a large open area. The single bed was a proper mattress & big enough for an adult. Our first room was near to the kitchen & the drone of the ventilation kept me awake, they moved us to another room nearer the sea, which was much nicer. Both bathrooms were functional rather than luxurious. There is also the 'Ala Cart' restaurant beside the 'Zanzi Bar'. The food there was better than buffet. We stayed 3 nights & 2 nights at another hotel & 1 night in Stonetown. There's not much to do so a change of scenery was welcome. It was good to stay in Stonetown but probably better to go only for a few hours. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!

First of all, the information about this hotel on this website is inaccurate and misleading. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel. No way! I've stayed at lots of hotels in East Africa, and in comparison, this is about a 2.5 star hotel. The facilities are basic, the staff incompetent, the food disappointing. During low tide, the ocean turns into a swamp that looks disgusting and stinks. There is lots of trash on the beach. The hotel is located in a tiny village, there are no restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops or water sports companies within walking distance. Of the three dining options listed on this website, two don't exist. There is only one restaurant with both a buffet and an a la carte menu. The menu is overpriced, the food is generally not great quality. You only eat here because there are no other options! It's also advertised as a family hotel with a free children's club. Completely false! There are no activities for kids. Dinner starts at 7:30pm, way too late for small children. There's no staff competent to deal with children, in fact, several creepy staff members kept scaring our kids! The rooms are spacious but simple. There was mold on one of the sofa/beds. And there were bed bugs in all of our beds! We left early after the whole family was covered in bites. If you any dietary restrictions, avoid the restaurant. We asked both wait staff and chefs about ingredients of dishes (simple ones such as wheat or corn) and were given false information.

Pretty Gardens, friendly staff.

The gardens are beautiful, staff are very friendly. Food was pretty good from buffet. Ala cart menu is slow (45 mins to 1 hr wait for food). Room was smaller, darker, less clean than portrayed online. Mosquito nets had holes. Toilet needed repair and TV service was unreliable. The staff did however respond quickly to room concerns. Sulfurous smell somewhat prominent at low tide from seaweed.

I do not recommend staying at Paradise Beach

There were many problems. From no air conditioner remote control, no phone to contact reception, forgot our food order at the restaurant and then wanted to serve the starters after the main course, overall cleanliness, the kettle did have an adapter, no staff at the bar, the pool table is broken and the breakfast buffet is not great. Definitely does not deserve a 4-star rating, as this feels much more like a 3-star resort. Not a great experience.

Don't Go to Paradise Beach

I was unhappy from the time I arrived. I was told I was not on the all inclusive package after specifically requested it at the time I booked. Either they mislead me or Expedia. I won't use Expedia again. The hotel did not provide turn down service. The food was not the best. Their were actually exclusions to the beverage selectionsselection after paying for the all inclusive upcharge. Not a good experience. Definitely not a 4 or 5 star resort.

Lovely resort

Arriving from Malawi, this was indeed a paradise. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious but the food cooked on the grill was overdone. The grounds are beautiful but the ocean here is not a nice as it is further north where it is crystal clear and turquoise. Our room was spacious and lovely. The only negative is that the Wifi is very spotty Other than that, I would definitely recommend this resort.

This hotel is NOT paradise...

The standard hotel room does not have any of the basic requirements for a 4* rating.. No tv, facility for making tea, basic toiletries, blankets, very poor lighting in the rooms. The first night was awful with no blankets, toiletries, no working AC, no wifi, no keys for the safe. There was a power cut that night too which was not properly rectified (could be done easily) so we had no electricity until the following afternoon. Management didn't seem to care about this and this was more frustrating as almost all of the issues were preventable - it was down to poor procedures. Big shame and put a downer on the holiday. The only plus points were the restaurant staff who were very accommodating, and the excursions organized by an external company hosted onsite.

Cool getaway resort

Great week-long very relaxed getaway. High tide made for some great swims around the Jetty Bar. Low tide meant a trip to nearby Beach #2, beautiful. Pools always crystal clean and beautiful. Half board meant great food morning and evening. Island excursions for snorkeling or sightseeing were readily available. $50 rents you a car so you can tour all of Zanzibar. StoneTown is a great historic destination. But mostly we enjoyed just hanging out around the pool and those shady thatch roof lounges with the hammocks. My telefoto lens got lots of use around the beach as the local women harvested seaweed and the sail boats hoisted colourful sails.

Nice quiet and clean resort. Connot swim in the sea infront of hotel as the rock and reef dont allow it. However there is a free bus to a beach 5 min from hotel. Beach is also a bit smelly due to to the shallow reef waters. Friendly staff and clean hotel. The food could be much better and have the option to have a nice cup of Cappucino or some fresh fish. Great value for the money

Great value for the money. The "second beach" was a short 10 min ride well worth it. The beach was much better than resort which isn't good for swimming although the sand is nice. We spent 3 of our 5 days on the second beach. Very few beach boys which was an added plus. You could walk that beach both ways for a long way without being hassled. Resort pool and grounds were very nice. Swam with the dolphins on two mornings. Best trip was snorkling at north end of Zanzibar and added bonus was a pod of dolphins hanging around the reef. Food was pretty good for the money. We didn't do all inclusive, didn't need it, just B&B

Personally I don't think I would really recommend this place to anyone who wants comfort. It's fine for people who want to spend most of their time in the resort and not go anywhere else. It's 40mins away from the marina and from stone town (which I think would of been a better area to stay in) Room was spacious but either excessively hot or freezing cold. Had a very thin sheet as a duvet, food wasn't great, took very long for staff to come assist u (room service) bathroom door wouldn't even close and the towels were extremely smelly!

honey moon

well it s hard to know where to start. from the beginning then... 1. on the second you make your check in you re submited to a "tourist tax" from nowhere that you must pay (3$/ night/ person). it s a kind of joke because they have no document to prove that tax does exist but they will give you a hand made receipt. it was shamefull as in the same time in more respectable hotels they didn t asked for it. 2. beach isn t paradise at all as you would expect according to the hotel name. 3. the staff is treated almost like slaves from what we heared from them. they mostly don t get more than 100$/ month and most of them stay only because they re far from town and have a family to feed. 4. in the room we had the bad surprise to discover that the water of the shower was salted (for everyone). despite our complains and their promises to fix it they did nothing. furthermore, we almost had no water presure so if took like 20-30 min for me and my wife to get a full shower. 5. it s a place far from town so you should stay on the west coast or in the north. east and south aren t beautiful as you expect. 6. don t believe you ll find a fitness center because there is none. 7. these are only some parts of our bad experiences on our honey moon. we ve been in tanzania also and at the end we truely recommand you not to go to these countries.

Paradise Beach Resort 27/9/2015 - 1/10/2015

The resort has only been re opened for three months when we stayed. The staff was excellent and very willing to assist with any request. The resort is not near anything so it is ideal for those who want to relax next to the pool and enjoy the views. The bay is not ideal for swimming as there is a lot of sea weed. Day trips can be arranged. And we enjoyed the Safari Blue experience. The main negatives were the following: The Wi-Fi is only free in reception and it is REALLY slow. One can purchase Wi-Fi for the rooms but the speed on this is also not that great. Water pressure on the island is not great and we had issues not having water in the showers some mornings. There are safes in the rooms to secure your valuables, but not for free (USD5.00 for your stay). Overall we enjoyed our stay and the facilities were great. We moved North of the island where the beaches are much better but the facilities where we stayed was not on the same level.

The staff are really welcoming. They is also available to you pool, table tennis, volleyball. It seems as though the people that come stay a long time because every seemed to know each other and very friendly. Sadly I stayed on one day, but if I had more time I definitely would have stayed longer. For sure my friend almost convinced me to take a few more days and she loved it too. I think I was pleasantly surprise cuz I wasn't expecting much for the cost. However, the hotel is far from everything and has only one restaurant to eat from. You have to hire a taxi to go anywhere, but taxis are not that expensive anyway.

Affordable Beach Resort

The place is very pretty, and great for kicking back and unwinding for a few days. We hadn't seen an option for all-inclusive but decided to upgrade on days 2 and 3 (It's $35 a day and includes lunch, dinner and drinks. It's only worth it if you plan to eat at every meal and drink more than three beers or wines a day). A cute surprise was the owners monkey who is tied up to a tree most of the day. Very cute and fun to play with, though keep in mind she is very curious. It was a bit on the empty side when we were there in August. It seems there were always more staff than guests, but that suited us fine. Great stay and a great price, though it is on a bit of a bay and didn't really get any waves.

Performs like a 1 star, charges like a 4 star

Hotel is isolated and it has the only open restaurant around for miles so you must eat there. My girlfriend and I stayed for five nights and for the first 2 we paid for the half-board option (which was a limited, horrible buffet). When I contacted hotel management they said they believed the buffet was a reasonable price "for Zanzibar", and quoted a ‘reasonable’ buffet price which was 30% cheaper than they actually charged us! Management’s excuse for poor food was that it is difficult to source ingredients during Ramadan, but we stayed at two other mid-range hotels on the island during Ramadan which served phenomenal food! The a la carte menu was far better value (go with "breakfast-only" option). You can only get to the beach if you use one of the hotel's "hourly" buses which sometimes did not even turn up. Once we had to wait 2 hours for a bus back to the hotel! My advice: use a bicycle (which the hotel will charge you for). Staff lacked the required training to operate a hotel. For example, waiters rarely knew what the a la carte dishes were and when we paid to use the Jacuzzi it was filthy and the staff who took us there didn't know how to use it. Room description on hotels.com said “satellite channels are offered for your entertainment” but there was no TV in our room – meaning the one TV is in reception and to be shared with 100 other guests. My opinion: hotel is very poor value for money compared with the other hotels we stayed at in Zanzibar.

NEVER stay here!

Management had a similar style to Faulty Towers. Fully unaware of what they had promised and unwilling to fulfil it, even when our issue was fully supported by our booking site. The hotel name itself is a con, there is no beach, it is not paradise and is barely a resort. The food is aimed solely at Scandinavian culture and was of a very poor quality. Minimal selection. All hotel amenities are added extras and are dated. Generally, a total let down on all fronts. Don't go in the pool after 8pm as they throw neat Chlorine in as your sat having a pre-dinner drink, avoid the splash!

Decent stay

The hotel was generally well run. The rooms were clean and everyone was quite attentive. My room smelled a little moldy and I noticed there were cracks in parts of the walls. There was no fan in the washroom and it steamed up and stayed foggy for hours despite opening the window and door (which is probably why it smelled moldy). The staff were kind though some of the male front end staff were much too flirty for my liking, and the maasi... weren't all actually maasi. My biggest complaint is the food. Buffets three meals a day, and if they ran out of something, they wouldn't restock. Not even the fruit which is super inexpensive in Zanzibar. It seemed rather cheap of them, and it was quite annoying if you wanted a specific thing but didn't want to get up early to eat. People were friendly and helpful and in general it was decent.

Nice but no beach

We had a good stay there for three nights. The kitchen and service staff were very nice and the food was ok. They have a nice pool area and the passion mojito was very good. The other drinks not :( Its a spacious hotel and the only big minus is thats theres no beach.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I have been to Zanzibar on 2 previous occasions, normally staying in 5 star resorts. This resort offers so much for so much less! It was about 35 min drive from the airport. Quick efficient check in. Lovely massages. I liked the fact that there was not a "real" beach in front of the hotel. If there was a real beach I would have been harassed by locals every 5 min to buy something. Claudia placed me in a room right at the end, which was very quiet (except for the person staying above me who made a huge noise coming back from the bar in the early morning hours). The room had awesome views. It was very quiet and very relaxing. The food was simple and healthy (it was a fresh welcome after staying in business hotels for 2 weeks prior to visiting Paradise beach). I would however recommend that Dinner can start from 7, it would result in less queues and people being more relaxed when they eat. I would visit this resort definitely again.

Truely paradise!

It was amaing. The people on the hotel was so sweet and we really loved our stay. We were only there for 4 days, and wish that we at least had 14 days more! It was so good!

We spent our holiday in Paradise Beach Resort 9 days with friends. We did 2 booking, one room was luxury villa and other suite, but rooms were similar, only price was different. Our friends were very disappointed because they booked luxury villa , but it was just simple hotel room, nothing special. There is wrong info about beaches on the hotel website, they write that they have 2 beaches, it is not true. We decided to book this hotel because we wanted that hotel is close to beach. The nearest beach to this hotel is about 5 km, hotel has bus for that, but it is not true information for clients, because hotel beach is terrible, it is smells badly and there is not possible swim at all. We spent 9 days there, but only 2 times was something , 2 times Masai evening. There is very boring at evening, no programs , nothing to do after dinner. We travel a lot, we had been in 63 countries. Tanzania is interesting country, people are friendly and nature is great, also all safaris are great. But we didn't like that hotel, we are sorry.

mini paradise

Our stay was short but the staff were incredibly friendly, the room had a rustic atmosphere to it and was very comfortable, the beach was everything you see in a traveler's magazine, although the water is quite shallow for a long distance. Wish we could have stayed more.

Struttura esteticamente molto carina...

Very nice

Stannade 1.5 v. Åkte pckså på safari via hotellet, bäl arrangerat.

Beau resort, ambiance tropicale,accueil chaleureux

//Therese & Patrik
