This is a good hotel with nice walking access to town. The rooms are large and well laid out. The hotel is near the road so sound can be an issue.
Wonderful amazing Motel close to everything!
Palm Court Motel in Otorohanga is a hidden gem, offering exceptional hospitality and spotless accommodations. The operator’s warmth and attention to detail made our stay truly special. Rooms were immaculately clean, well-appointed, and perfect for our family of four. Its prime location—just minutes from the Kiwi House and glow worm caves—made exploring effortless. Convenience, comfort, and genuine care define this motel, making it an outstanding choice for families or travellers seeking a welcoming retreat. Highly recommended!
The host was very nice and helpful. The room was super clean and comfortable.
Neat, tidy and reasonably priced....
Great value
Late check in was arranged for us. Clean and comfortable room.
The manager is super friendly and gives great recommendations to local attractions. Nice location.
Well maintained motel with humble host.
A great property, nice and quiet
For a simple motel it is clean and quiet, not trying to be fancy, certainly fits the bill for what they advertise. Would stay there again with no hesitation, would recommend.
This is the second time we stayed in Palm Court. And as usual, the stay was nice
Lovely place to stay after the Waitomo cave tour, very near to town. Upstairs vroom that was light big and spacious
Excellent value for money
It’s a typical NZ motel - perfect for a short stay whilst travelling around this amazing country. The owner was incredibly helpful and informative on arrival which ensured we made the most do our first day in the area. Close the caves at Waitamo but it’s also worth going to the Kiwi Sanctuary- some great work being done to protect them. The motel room has all the facilities you need you need and is great value in a great location
Wow we were very impressed with this motel. Very spacious room which appeared to be recently renovated. I was greeted by a lovely gentleman at check-in who was friendly and helpful in recommending local places to eat. Would definitely stay again!
It's a great place to stay. However, our neighbours were rude and argued outside our room. The walls between units were thin, and I could hear snoring coming from next door.
Great place just a bit noisy
Great place to stop over on the way to Hobbiton or when traveling. Only stayed one night but the room was clean and had everything we needed for our family. Right off of the road and near grocery and restaurants.
Front desk staff was very friendly, room was nice and we had a lot of options within walking distance. Would have loved a washing facility but staff did tell us of a laundromat just down the road.
It is quite run-down and needs a bit of work to improve it. The beds are very uncomfortable.
Very comfortable beds and pillows and really nice bathroom. Very clean and great kitchenette.
We had a leak outside our window and couldn’t sleep in. But the rook was one of the best we have ever stayed in.
A Bit Noisy.
The manager is very nice. One drawback--the room furnishings shook when trucks went past the road next to the hotel. (And the manager assured us that we were in the quietest room in the motel.)
Great place to stay, close to town and walkable.
It gives about a half way stopping place between Otumoetai Tauranga and Stratford Taranaki . Where I travel to quite often . Thankyou
For the area and the price, this property was good. It was very clean and came as promised. Shower was a bit wonky to turn on and towels were rather thin. Definitely the least nice of the 4 similar places we stayed in across the North Island but great location and much less costly than 2 of them.
Friendly staff and good location for a single night stay, but due to proximity to Countdown store and the main road, there were a lot of truck noises at night and early morning.
So helpful, had brilliant placesto eat only a short walk
Lovely & accommodating our last minute & late night request. Will stay again x
A surprise find in a provincial area. And the bed was as comfortable as they can get! Slept like a baby! We’ll be back!
Really neat and tidy motel. Gardens and outside space really well maintained. Sparkling clean inside. Nice big spaces inside. Playground over the road was a big hit with the kids. Recommend this place.
it was superbly maintained, the hosts were very welcoming. A great spot to stay a night.
Great communication. Clean facilities with everything you need plus handy location to town and supermarket.
Nice friendly staff, clean and comfortable room central location
Close to shops, countdown, cafes, restaurants. Only fifteen minute drive to Waitomo Caves.
Verg lovely room very clean lovely service and close to everything park right across the road for kids loved our stay here :)
I loved that the rooms were comfortable. Friendly service. Clean, everything we needed.
Frindly hosts. Highly recommended.
Glad we have stayed with Palm Court, very clean and comfortable. Pity we were too full to try out their in room dining.
Nice place to stay and budget friendly. Excellent option.
Very busy traffic road.
The motel is closed to busy road. Very noise even at night.
Best motel in Oto but quite noisy at night with the trucks rumbling past. Handy to town.
Handy location
Nice motel within easy walking distance to town. Easy check in. Beds comfy and great shower
Great stay. Owners are very helpful, premises and room was very clean. Handy walk to supermarket and shops in the town.
The owner was very sociable and pleasant to talk to.
Easy to find, big rooms, well equipped and clean.
A good place to stay in a skippable town
Clean and comfortable unit. Comfortable bed, friendly check in. Didn't have much of a kitchen space (no sink, for example, but did have a little plastic tub for washing dishes). Our unit was quite dark, which is both a plus and a minus: we weren't awoken by glary sunshine, but the curtains really needed to be open to find things. Well located to the town (such as it is--the Kiwiana aspect is overrated (not even one ridiculous fibreglass animal or vegetable!) and the food options were poor).
I highly recommend this motel!! Awesome owners and we loved our room
Clean, warm, quiet and walking distance to the township. Very convenient.
Double glazing would improve the stay.
Clean and comfortable, but close to the main highway. Rooms need the windows to be double glazed to cut down the noise of trucks passing all night long. Friendly staff, clean tidy rooms.
Owner was friendly and helpful . Place was clean bed was super comfy. Room has everything we needed.
Nice and roomy, clean and tidy unit. Carparking a bit awkward and limited

Whilst perfectly serviceable and undeniably a pleasant motel, I was a bit disappointed by some of the obvious lack of maintenance in the room. Shower was very outdated, the bathroom floor linoleum floor very slippery, paint in several areas of the bathroom was peeling or damaged, and the bathroom fixtures (heater, towel rail etc) were extremely dated or worn out. Perhaps most bizzare of all was the fact that the room (located upstairs) shook and rattled like a gentle earthquake whenever trucks would pass on the road. Again, perfectly serviceable lodging for a one night stay, the staff were lovely and the bed comfortable, walking distance to shops and eateries. If I had paid less for the room, I'd have far less complaints but at $180 a night it did not quite live up to my expectations. Hopefully the owners will consider updating some of their facilities in future.
