Loved my stay
Good location. Very close to all major tourist attractions
It’s worth the price - the staff is nice, the room is clean, and the location is very convenient. But I was surprised that all guests still need to use a key to unlock/lock the door like 1980s. The room condition is good, but it’s definitely not modern. They also provide free breakfast but I was in a hurry so I didn’t get. Overall, it’s a great deal if you have a budget.
Great location. Albeit maybe a bit noisy street but we’ll soundproofed Nice facility.
Need to improve the Wifi out reach
It was perfect. Right in the center of everything. Walkable to all the attractions. Restaurants shopping.
.
Very good
The Staff were all fantastic, able to book taxis for me and gave great advice. The 24 hr desk was very useful also. Had my room cleaned, with new bed sheets, new towels and a changed bin every day which is wonderful. The view from the window was fantastic, and the Air Con unit worked excellently and was fantastic during a hot summer. The space in my single room was very nice, basic essentials but enough as a base and I was able to relax there when I needed. The fridge kept drinks nice and cold and the safe in the room was easy to use. The bathroom had everything you need. The toilet flushed well and the shower was nice and powerful. The shower did show signs of use inside but I was fine with it. I really appreciated the location, close to bus stops both up and down hill of the hotel, and it is close to a Rome water Fountain just up the road. There are small supermarkets near my for some fresh fruit, snacks and drinks. I enjoyed the local Italian fruit with the included breakfast. The breakfast options were great, a nice mix of sweet and savoury and the yogurt pots and granola with my fruit made a filling and nutritious breakfast, there was a nice range of fruit available but I just wanted something a bit different every other day. There is a roof top terrace, it has a fantastic view and great place to go if your room does not have a balcony. If I was in Rome and needed a few nights or longer accommodation I would not hesitate to book this hotel again.
Good location but noisy!
Great location for many must-see sights in Rome. Bathroom especially needs a remodeling in our room. Nice breakfast.
La terraza increíble para pasar una velada en Roma.
Perfect location. Perfect hotel and staff.
Great location Superb service
Have stayed there many times. The hotel is in a great location. Most of the major attractions are within walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants close by and the staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The views from the roof terrace are excellent.
We loved this hotel. The location was excellent, every staff member was kind and friendly, it was very clean and the breakfast was an added bonus. The a/c in the room was very good, which was appreciated. The beds were a little too firm for our liking, but overall the hotel was very good.
The location was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was nice but like most hotels in Rome, it could use some updating. Our room was on the 6th floor and had a nice balcony with a small table and chairs. The balcony was a nice feature, but the rooftop patio is above the 6th floor rooms and guests must use the 6th floor to get to the rooftop. Guests sliding the tables and chairs was very loud at all hours of the day & night. The view from up there is nice though and it’s a nice place to sit with a beverage. If you are a light sleeper, I wouldn’t recommend a room with a balcony. I used ear plugs and was happy to have a balcony. The breakfast was a nice bonus as well.
Fabulous breakfast and great location
Wonderful stay and fabulous breakfast! The Pace Helvezia was an easy walk from the bus stop from the train station, and close to the must sees in Roma. Our room was on the street side, which was bustling until 2am or so, but we were able to close the window and still be comfortable in the room (April). The (included) breakfast was fantastic and I was impressed at how hard Francesca worked every morning (we stayed three days.) All of the front desk staff were very helpful and we had a wonderful stay in Rome!
Very worn and a lot of noise from the road, the staff are nice and the location is good
Walking distance to alot of things. Other than that, very old hotel with outdated appliances. In need of MAJOR renovations. Very bad wifi in room. Tea kettle was replaced by another dirty one. Room safe did not work. Toilet and urinal set up makes no sense- especially if you are a tall person. Avoid if you can.
Outstanding service and hospitality
The hotel is very well located, the staff were warm and eager to assist. I lost a night due to flight cancellation. This information was shared with the hotel and absolutely no empathy. Be sure not to book non-refundable with this hotel. Breakfast was ok but in a tiny room with insufficient seating. It's the perfect location to walk around Rome city center, it is not 4stars.
Overall, the property and staff was quite nice and lovely. However, our room had an issue with a running toilet. It was bad enough they turned the water off overnight. The guest in the next room complained several times. It took flushing it multiple times to get it to stop running.
The Pace hotel is in a great area of town. It is a 15 min walk to the train station, 15 min walk to the Colosseum, 5 min walk to Trevi fountain. The staff was very helpful. The included breakfast was great, with many selections. Bring a bottle of wine to the rooftop terrace and enjoy a beautiful view of Rome. My only problem was the street noise, but I am a light sleeper.
The location is great. The hotel is dated and the air conditioning is not great but it is affordable and in the center of town.
Perfect location, close to fountain, piazza Venezia, coliseum. Make sure AC works in the room before unpacking. I had to change room because of it once.
Great hotel in the center of Rome, spacious rooms, however I must note the noise of Rome never stops night or day, for a better nights rest use earplugs
Comfortable and close to everything
О
The property was fancy in the day but still has class. Rooms though small and dated somewhat were clean and comfortable. Construction in the neighboring building started early with noise but fine if your an early riser. Great breakfast in the morning - awesome coffee and hard working staff! Close to restaurants bars and attractions and walkable. A fantastic rooftop terrace- garden with a great view and place to sit and have a drink to plan the next day. Great showers with awesome water pressure to rejuvenate. It’s not pretentious but a nice spot. One ask would be to add some USB ports to charge devices at end of day.
Perfekt location. Very friendly personal. I reccomendet .
This hotel is in an amazing location, five minute walk from Trevi Fountain! It has the charm we were looking for in a hotel, and the staff was wonderful. Breakfast is included and had many options! We will definitely stay here again.
This is the greatest location. We were able to walk everywhere. I loved the room terraces and the breakfast. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Very clean and sanitized. Check in was a breeze and they were able to get us in early. Will stay here again if I ever get to come back to Rome.
Short walk to the Colosseum and an even shorter walk to Trevi Fountain! For lots of choices to eat and shop, the area around the fountain was the most lively! Great location to catch buses around town.
4 days in rome
Great location, good service. It’s not a 4 star hotel it was long ago, but it was clean and nice to see the old art. The view from the terrace is great. The breakfast is good, but when i booked it said buffet, the only minus was that we had to wait for being served, some lost time.
Excellent location as it is surrounded in all directions by palazzo, galleries, churches, famous monuments and excellent restaurants. Go up to the roof top with a cup of coffee and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of Rome. Within its ranks this hotel is the best in my view.
Perfect location. We always like to return to this hotel. Our favourite stop in Rome, very close to Colosseum, Fontana di Trevi and Spanish Steps.
Bra läge. Finns bara en el uttag i rummet som var inte lätt att komma åt. Sladen för vattenkokare var för kort. Att koka vatten måste man lägga kokare på golvet!!
Well located but poor wifi.
I had a single room which was very small but clean and nicely appointed. Only issue was the wifi that did not work for more than 24 hours before I checked out. I had to use the data on my phone which was okay for me because I was about to leave Italy and end my cell phone package so had some left to use but other guests could not have been happy with the poor service.
The hotel is very traditional when you walk in and the appearance is lovely if a bit old fashioned. The room was very dated. But the main problem was the shower. If we were there longer I would have complained but we managed. They have tried to seal the edge so it doesn’t spray out but the seal is coming off so it just sprays all over the bathroom. We just had to lay down all the towels and clear everything out. The shower was VERY powerful. Apart from that I was really happy. I left my Raybans in the room after we checked out. They put them behind the desk for me so was really happy with the service.
Location A Plus!
Amazing location. Clean, lovely service!
While the hotel and the staff were very good there was just a couple of things we had hoped were better The bathroom did not give any cold water it was warm the whole time and the beds are very hard The pillows provided I have very flat and hard
Wonderful property. The only issue was that the wifi. You needed to keep reconnecting to it.
The Hotel is in a great location with the Colosseum and most of Rome'[s attractions only 15 - 20 minutes walk away. The Hotel is Right in the middle, Did seem to have a lot of noise from the maid service though banging doors and the such. Lifts are tinnie only 3 people or 2 with suitcases. It's an Older Hotel but the Location is what saves it.
Decent stay
Beds are very hard, but the rooms are clean. There was a heat wave and the air conditioner was mediocre. Internet was very spotty and constantly dropped. Staff was fantastic and helpful
The location of this hotel was great. We could easily walk in the heat to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon.. and the cat sanctuary Torre Argentina(which was on our list). Colosseum is close enough for cheap taxi ride. The staff helped with our needs and breakfast had a decent variety with good cappuccino. I just thought the place could use some paint/wallpaper updating. We had scuffs on the walls and it seemed to need refreshing.
Lovely hotel close to sites, restaurant and bars..
The worst hotel in my life ever!
The worst hotel ever!
OK but be careful for tax scam
Good hotel but charged double the legal amount of tourist tax even for a single room. Allow an extra 6 euros per night per person when booking this hotel. It isn't an error, they clearly write in on their invoices.
Nice and clean, count probably do with a few more power outlets in the rooms
we were very disappointed to find there were no bar facilities either in the room or in the hotel! this is clearly stated in the description of facilities on your web page! Also although there was a very nice roof terrace, the flight of stairs leading to it were not as safe as they could have been and where was the shade up there?Very disappointed and will not be returning! Maz
The good and the bad
Room was dated and in need of tlc. Beds were so hard we woke up feeling bruised. Fridge didn’t work. Location and roof terrace were amazing
Italian charm
We were delighted with the check in. The location was marvellous being just a straight walk down the hill to the Trevi fountain. There were lots of yummy local pizza places and the decor was traditional and old worldly. A really enjoyable stay.
Nice hotel very close to the historical sites
The hotel is very pleasant , checking in was very easy and the front of house staff were very efficient and friendly . I had requested a rear facing room and as close to the top of the building as possible ( traffic is quite busy at the front of the building ) The room i was given was perfect on the 5th floor . The Continental Breakfast was very good which was available from 7 am . If you required an earlier breakfast the Night Manager was only too willing to sort some food out . I would gladly stay at this hotel again if i was in Rome again .
Nice roof top garden great views - good breakfast.
The staff was amazing the location is the best we could have chosen the hotel does show a little wear but it gives it character and they serve large fresh breakfast
It is clean and very accessible form train station and other establishments--------------------------------------------------------
Great stay at the Pace Helvezia
Great location for all the sights of Rome Friendly and helpful staff City tax to pay on checkout
Great location. Staff engaging and wanted to please guests.
Great hotel for seeing the best of Rome
Have stayed in this hotel on many occasions, it has always been a very pleasant stay. This year we had to cancel our visit due to illness and were very sorry to do so. We will book to stay there as soon as it is possible for us to do so.
Not overwhelming but comfortable
This hotel was perfect for us. Walking distance from so many major sites. Decor was interesting but it had everything we needed. It was sweltering when we were in Rome and the air conditioning was great. Roof top terrace was lovely with a 360 degree view of Rome. Breakfast was great, coffee was amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Central location and super helpful receptionist
Ideal location to easily walk to main attractions. Good breakfasts and high level of cleanliness. Decor was a little tired here and there but overall an elegant building. Our visit was made even better due to very helpful reception gentleman.
Location
the location is very good. the location is very good. the location is very good.
Very nice hotel
Super convenient. Clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast was nice. All in all a great place to stay while visiting Rome. We would enjoy staying here again.
Ideal location for exploring Rome walking distance to most well known sites. Staff were friendly and very helpful
Not great
I stayed in a single room as I was traveling alone. The room was tiny but as advertised, with a single bed. Unfortunately, the room looked as if it had been crudely reconstructed: some holes and peeling wallpaper, no accessible electrical sockets to plug in a charger (I had to pull the bed away a bit from the wall to fit it), including for the coffee pot and lamp on the table (no idea how they're supposed to be used). The bathroom was functionally great but the ceiling had gaps in the corners and marks of rust (or something else?) leaking down the sides of the shower. Didn't seem like it had been cleaned too well since the previous occupant. There was a door that led to a patio that was covered by a pull-down grate. I couldn't get it open the first night and was never told if it was to be opened or not. The second day I could open it a bit and could get at least a bit of natural light into the room. Overall, it was not super comfortable and not a room I would want to spend extended time in. I imagine the more expensive rooms were nicer but no way to know.
Good value for money.
I have chosen this hotel for two main reasons It’s location, the location of the hotel is very good. 7 minutes walk from the hotel to the Trevi fountain - 12 minutes to the Spanish Steps, and from the hotel to the Train Station, you will have 25 minutes walk. Value for money. I believe that the hotel is good value for money. Like most hotels in Rome, The Pace Helvezia Hotel is in an old building, the decor is old and outdated, that did not bother me but I just want to make you aware of that. My room was ready before check in time and that is always good, I stayed in room 63 on the 4th floor and my room was facing the inside of the building which was good because there was no noise. The room was small but clean and tidy. My room had the following amenities: minibar, free instant coffee, and tea, a kettle, desk + chair, safe, good quality shampoos and toiletries, good quality towels. The bed was ok, the pillows are too hard for my taste, the bed linen was of mediocre quality. Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary served just your average continental breakfast. I feel that they should serve more fruits, I only saw some apples nothing else and they should also invest in a proper toaster. Coffee was ok, good selection of pastries and bread. I did not see any gluten-free options, dairy-free options, and dried fruits. I also found awkward the fact that they do not serve coffee for tea in the hotel, so if you want to buy a coffee and have it in the lounge you cant.
Great Hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at Pace Helvezia. It was a beautiful hotel! The bathrooms were very large for Europe. They also offer breakfast on a daily basis but, they could change up the solid foods a little more then they did. The breakfast sweets are delicious and do vary daily. Our room view was over an alley but we weren't in the room often so it didn't matter. The people at the desk were very helpful and even pulled out a map to help us find places. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would go back again.
This is not a 4 star hotel by American standard
Excellent staff but not a 4 star by American standard. No exercise room, no swimming pool, laundry, no tissues in rom. Breakfast is good. Very convenient location. Walking distance to Collosseum, Victory square, Fountain, Forum. Restaurants, markets, bus location. Rome is alive and safe to walk at night. Room has the traditional key, you must turn the key to lock. Once locked it cannot be opened without a key from inside or outside. Shower has no curtain, it only has a partial glass door, so if you take a shower, the room is flooded.
Very good hotel in central location
Large, comfortable room, very good breakfast and pleasant, helpful staff. Central location meant that many venues - Forum, Capitol, Pantheon - could be reached on foot. Nearby bus services also easily accessible. Lovely roof garden with superb views over central Rome from the Colosseum to St. Peter's. Good restaurants within easy walking distance.
excellent location
The first thing is the location which was excellent for sightseeing. Tour office was right opposite and restaurants a short walk away. The hotel itself is an older building which is nice and traditionally Italian and although the room was dated it was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was on the small side but the shower was powerful, although its handheld its very good Lovely terrace at the top of the building with fantastic views over Rome, it was lovely to be able take a drink up there and enjoy the view. The air conditioning was good and very much appreciated especially as it was exceptionally hot this August The continental breakfast was pretty good the coffee however not so good. A great base by which to explore Rome.
Good location hotel
This was my 3rd stay at this hotel. I don't eat the continental breakfast but bring a danish and piece of fruit away each morning and no one makes a fuss about it. The beds are comfortable. The front of the hotel can be noisy from traffic but it doesn't effect me. Great location for all the main sites. I walked to every one of them.
Lovely Hotel, superb location.
This is a lovely place to stay and a great base to explore the many wonders of Rome . A super central location with everything within walking distance. There are also plenty of public transport options available for those who don't like to walk. There are lots of Cafe's and restaurants nearby and a few local shops if you need to stock up on anything. Rome is a fascinating City, you find hidden treasures everywhere. It has so much to offer and to see. The main attractions are well documented and are the focus of most visitors to the city. It can get very crowded and busy around the these attractions, especially with the countless tour groups getting in the way and blocking everywhere up. Best to visit the most popular places early, before the rush arrives and then wander of into quieter streets and explore. You will be amazed at what you find if you look under the surface.
Great location , very nice views from roof top terrace
Great location, noisy, but to be expected
Comfortable duvets, decent bathroom, small, but nice balcony. Excellent location, but being that close to Piazza Venezia means lots of street noise. Brace yourself, but perfect location. The staff were friendly and breakfast was delicious. Air conditioning only turned on in the summer time, had to keep the door open to cool off in April. 5 minutes from Coloseum, 1 minute from Piazza Venezia.
Worst I've ever stayed in
The hotel staff is super unhelpful. The front desk guy admitted that over the Christmas to new year period he was the only guy on duty. Water heater in the room was broken and they couldn't get a replacement. Also rooms weren't clean at all.
Hotel Pace Helvezia: central for main attractions
PROs: Hotel staff were excellent and had a good knowledge of the local transport. Great location for walking to many of the attractons (except the Vatican). The roof top terrace gave great views of the City and was a great place to relax after a long day sightseeing (take your own drinks though). CONS: No bar or restaurant, other than a buffet continental breakfast . Many of the rooms overlook a very busy road, which never quietened down, and the noise was extremely loud. Even at night. Had to change rooms (no hassles in doing so). Used the Roma travel pass and Omnia pass for 3 days. Found it very easy to use and never had to queue. Collected it at St Peter's Square where staff were very helpful. Suggest good footwear for sightseeing. Many roads and paths are uneven.
Nice Hotel close to all the sights.
We stayed here for 3 nights and the location of the Hotel was excellent for our sightseeing trips as well as local Restaurants and shops. All were within walking distance.
I liked my room was very spacious, and front desk staff were very nice and professional.
Nice hotel, excellent location
Great staff, excellent location, good overall experience
Great location
Great location, just around the block from Venetia plaza, Trajan's column,Colloseum, historic Rome and shopping. The bathroom shower was such that water spilled all over outside. We were there only for two days so didn't make a big deal of it. People staying longer may want to make sure this sort of thing is fixed. Staff were courteous and flexible.
Definitely not 4 stars maximum 2 stars
Very old hotel which needs renovation. Location is very good. The room size is OK, no coffee/Tea facilities. In the bathroom there is no cup to put in the toothbrush. The most disturbing thing is that most of the time, if you take a shower after 8pm or early in the morning, there is no hot water. The hotel excuse: "That's because everyone is taking a shower at the same time". The heater in the room was not working well. The plates in the dining room were usually wet (placed directly from washing) and a lot of them were dirty. Absolutely not a recommended hotel.
Nice Hotel, super location.
3rd stay at this Hotel, It's very comfortable and friendly and in a wonderful location for those who want to explore the many attractions Rome has to offer. There is a wonderful view from tho roof terrace. The staff are very helpful and breakfast is excellent. We will be booking here again for our next visit to Rome.
Great location
The hotel is at the great location, staffs are nice. The only issue is the shower was not very comfortable. Overall it is very good and will recommend it.
Great hotel close to all
Great hotel that is in walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Staff was great and room had a balcony with a beautiful view. Would recommend this hotel for sure!
Good stay in central Rome
I stayed here last year with my girlfriend, and really liked the location. This year my daughter and I traveled to Rome and I decided to stay here again. Again, the hotel is in a great location, and you can easily walk to the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. We had a problem with our air conditioning the first day, but the hotel was very responsive in working on it. It was tolerable for the first night but was not fully functioning. They moved us to a room that had a terrace facing the city (one of only two). The air was working great in this room. The front desk is very helpful. Breakfast is very good too.
Site seeing Tour
This was to be a relaxing and enjoyable short break, the Hotel was ideal, with friendly and accommodating staff, which made our stay even more relaxing. With so much to do, our only regret was, we needed more time to take in the beautiful sites and architecture. This truly is an interesting city, with so much tradition & history to offer
Loved my stay
Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The room was great with a lot more space than I expected. The bathroom could do with a makeover but functioned perfectly well. Beds were comfortable. Air con was superb. Breakfast was good and had a variety of options.10 minute walk to colosseum and 5 mins to trevi. The hotel is located in the piazza Venezia area and the wedding cake building is on the doorstep. The views from the rooftop terrace are spectacular.
Good location for touristing
Enjoyed Rome..... Rome is crowded and I wouldn't want to drive in its traffic.
Central location
Good central location, within walking distance to major tourist spots i.e: Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps. However, the room was really dusty. I would recommend this hotel simply for the locality. The bedlinen and towels were changed daily, so it wasnt filthy; it just needed dusting!!
Close to all attractions
Hotel needs a big refurbishment!!. Wallpaper was peeling off walls, water from shower was coming out brown, hairdryer not working. Staff on reception were friendly, however, staff in breakfast room very rude. They are more interested in clearing dishes. They only asked if we wanted hot drinks on one day out of three!! Very disappointing..won't be staying there again or recommending this hotel!!
Great Stay!
Awesome roof and room terrace views! Beautifully located within walking distance to the colloseum and other sights.
November Rome stay
Pace Helvezia is very conveniently located for the main Rome attractions. The staff were very attentive and helpful, and when asked rectified a problem with the shower in our room the same day. The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. There were some areas of the hotel and our room that needed some attention, however these did not bother us and wouldn't put us off recommending this hotel. Our stay was in November and so other reviewer's comments about the a/c did not affect us, but we would consider these if recommending the hotel for a summer stay.
Very good location.
As commented by others, the hotels city centre location means it is very noisy. Took earplugs so were prepared. The location was excellent for access to all the sites. Would not like to be there in the summer as would be far too hot and the noise means you could not leave the window open. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Cooked meats, cheeses and croissants. Only tinned fruit salad though. We would go back again but not mid summer. Sitting on the roof terrace was lovely. Great views over the city skyline.
Location
Located within walking distance of most of the popular tourist attractions except the Vatican. Room was clean and comfortable. Included breakfast was a huge choice of food. Also within easy walking distance of a large choice of bars And restaurants.
Facilities: Typical, Not 4 star; Service: Professional, Courteous, Lovely staff;
Great Hotel, Central location.
Second time staying at this Hotel. It's great for a sightseeing holiday, central location is close to the main attractions of Rome with everything within walking distance.
Only good thing are location and breakfast
So expensive and this hotel is horrible: the shower head did not work, stripping was gone from tub/shower so the entire bathroom floor was full of water, the tub was giving way in the middle, horrible TV with only 1 English language station, a/c worked marginally, at best.
Good location
The hotel is very dated, shabby, our room was very noisy, wi fi signal very poor.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel as advertised!
We stayed for one night on the 9th August 2014 before we flew back home and given their rating of 4 stars, nice pictures and a nice rooftop view, we booked. From the outside Hotel Pace Helvezia seems nice and reception area welcoming, although quite dated. We arrived at around 5.30pm and were told that our room wasn't ready, so they had to move us to another one. We didn't have to wait but seemed strange that we checked in so late and our room was still not ready. Upon entering our room we were overwhelmed by the smell of smoke and believed the room must have been a 'Smokers Room'. We went back down to the reception only to be told that all of the rooms were non-smoking and they couldn't move us because they were fully booked. The receptionist arranged for one of the hotel staff to spray some de-odourising spray which lasted all of 2 seconds. The room amenities were all outdated and the shower rose was broken. Overall we were dissatisfied with our experience and were thankful we were only staying there one night.
Pace Helvezia | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
Good location, easy to walk to most places. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Room was smaller but decent and clean. The noise from traffic outside was loud.
