Nice
nice enviroment and clean, but for four nights my bedsheet was not change , was same bedsheet, but the staff at recpetion was good, cuddles to the man in the breakfast restaurant was helpful he makes good capucihino
I really like it because it is quite, swimming pool is fantastic, it gives you feeling of propel Italian life style , building is dated perhaps needs bit of updating.
Lovely stay, room was a good size (no.140) staff excellent, on site resturant was amazing. They are renovating but this didnt spoil the stay. Staff went above and beyond, as this was our anniversary trip i put a few requests to the hotel to which they met and even added flowers as a little extra touch. Great transport link to city. Bus stop is just outside hotel. Im a seasoned traveller married to a Karen, she loved the hotel and couldnt fault it. Would we stay again, yes! Do we recomnend yes! This is perfect for a short stay exploring Rome.
Nice pool, good breakfast included and parking in the property
Great stay good hotel with very nice pool and a very good restaurant attached with great food.
Decent.
Nasty.
All around a very good experience!
Hotel was good, breakfast was basic. Walls are paper thin however, and could easily hear the conversations of those in the room next to me
The hotel is very quiet and very clean. Staff are professional and friendly. Over all, I enjoyed my stay
We love this place. Staff is very kindly.
It was very nice. Room and shower were bigger than usual. The restaurant next door was excellent. The property is too far from downtown, especially when there is a taxi strike.
Rooms are dated and in need of repair but the beds were comfortable and pool was nice Not much to eat around but the site resturants were good Transit was easy to the city centre
Good value accommodation
Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, given the price I paid. The breakfast was good and access to the pool was very much appreciated. The hotel could use some updating however this is a 3-star hotel in the end. Access to public transport was good and there's a shopping centre (with a grocery) and a park within 10 minute walk. This is always handy to be near. It would have been nice to have the option to purchase beverages during the day, especially when spending time at the pool however this wasn't available
AWESOMELY RELAXING
Staff super friendly and helpful. Property gardens/pool etc were tranquil and relaxing. Food was excellent and tasty.
There are many options for public transportation nearby. Less than 5 minute walk.
Nice break
We had a nice stay. Thank you.
Nice & cute but showering was awful water barely comes out
Loved the grounds for dining and relaxing very spacious and beautiful. Wish there was laundry facilities and drinks and snacks available to buy throughout the day because the snack shop across the street was closed for their summer vacation
Great place. We arrived after midnight and stuff was super friendly and helpful. Made our stay welcome and enjoying. Highly recommend.
Wonderful breakfast. Garden areas are nice. Far away from the center of Rome so you cannot walk there. Large shopping center is near hotel but not walkable. Hotel has a good nice resturant another close resturant is nearby.
The WiFi did not work during our entire stay. There were ants all over the room. The walls were so thin that you could hear every single thing that the people staying in the next room did, including their conversations, when they were in the bathroom, etc. They only had one towel in the room, that was booked for two people, I had to ask for more towels at the front desk and had to wait an hour for them to arrive when I was told it would take 5 minutes. Would not stay here again.
Nice hotel close to transport links to city centre
We expected more, we were a bit disappointed disap
The hotel is located in a fairly remote area of central Rome, an hour's drive by public transport. We were a bit disappointed by the level of maintenance in the room, the reception attitude was not so friendly and the breakfast was good
Clean little hotel close to Via Cristoforo Colombo
Orto di Roma is a refurbished structure initially conceived as a farmhouse. The rooms are really small, which makes this hotel a "sleep only" solution, while the rest of the tome is spent touring Rome. It offer a very generous free breakfast, free parking as long as you rented a Fiat 500, free internet. The nights are really quiet, clients are not noisy and there is no night life crowd around, so you sleep well. Bus stations are close, shuttle services are available as well. It was all I needed for my 5 day business trip.
Great value for money
Lovely hotel. Clean basic rooms. Food very good in the restaurant and buffet breakfast has good variety. Abought 30 min into Rome on the bus and metro
Great Hotel!
This hotel is like a chalet style building with each room having its own entrance onto the gardens (a few were onto a short corridor). The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with great facilities. The sun terrace was quiet and peaceful. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room is very quirky with a tree growing in the middle of it! A very relaxing space. Head next door to the attached restaurant for a delicious meal – even the locals eat there and the food is cheap and amazing! If ever in Rome, we would defiantly stay here again.
Avoid
I picked this hotel to stay, only last week when I took my mum to Rome for her birthday. I seen other reviews and it seemed ok. I seriously recommend staying else where. The colosseum is 27 minutes away on a bus then a metro and the Vactican 41 minutes away on a bus and two metros. You may save money staying here but you spend it communiting. Taxis from the centre are around 27 euros. The rooms were basic, we had a bed and a table that was about it. When we spoke to other guests we found out they had fridges and sky tv. Even though I payed more. Cleanliness was shoddy, turned on the overhead fan and dead bugs and dust fell from it. Bins weren't changed our entire stay. The breakfast was not varied as I had read in other reviews, if you like sugar covered and chocolate filled donuts at half 7, it's the place for you. All sweet items unless you had toast and the toaster barely worked. Staff mainly ignored you with the expection of a few of the younger female staff. There are cats EVERYWHERE. We would return back and every night there was a cat sleeping at the foot of our door. One night we counted NINE cats sitting around the area of our room. Only positive was the hot tub, but buy your own drinks from the supermarket across the street as it's expensive to buy them at the hotel. I never tend to leave bad reviews but I felt this was needed as I was mislead and wanted to inform people of my experience. Wish we moved to another hotel.
rome
Place is nice rooms are small and walls are thin , it can get more per night if they rehabed the rooms make them larger and get more
Pleasant stay
The breakfast buffet was great and the receptionist was friendly and attentive. The room was clean and had a nice bathroom and tile floors. The common areas were very charming (gardens, tables and chairs). There are two onsite restaurants. We dined twice at the bigger restaurant and the food was affordable and tasty. There is a bus that stops about a block from the restaurant. To travel to Rome you have to take at least two buses, or one bus and train. Depending on how fast the bus arrives, you can be in Rome in 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Ok hotel to get to rest.
Close enough to city attractions. Not the best maintenance. Very helpful staff.
Couldn't sleep at night because of music, also rooms are not sound proof, I could hear people snoring. The room was tiny but clean. The bathroom was ok. The hotel seemed to have a nice garden. The location of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast was good but not many varieties.
Lovely rustic hotel
Had a really nice comfortable stay here. Hotel is rustic, staff are welcomed and helpful.
Location main problem
Quite a noisy hotel, plus needed a bus and tram to reach the centre of Rome. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms very basic but clean with decent bathroom facilities.
Good facilities, but we weren't told about any of them until we asked. We didn't realise there was a free breakfast (which was really good when we found out about it) and we weren't given basic information like Wi-Fi password etc. Good place to stay, just make sure you get all the info.
Cute and cozy hotel
This hotel is perfect for anyone who'd like to stay in an adorable building staffed by generous and friendly staff and see a bit more of an authentic/residential side of Rome. It's close to shopping and not far from the city center, but far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle (not to mention cheap plastic tourist trap stores). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone for theirs!
Our Italy 2016 Vacation
Hotel, room and location are great, the only thing I did not like was the hotel tax charge when I checked out, when I came home I realized that the hotel tax was already paid in my booking.
Nice Roman family stay
Lovely rustic hotel. Excellent staff especially at breakfast.
Authentic Italian and comfortable for a family.
We stayed with 2 children...very nice...would stay again.
Value for money.
The garden is fantastic. Breakfast variety is ok. The restaurant has an outdoor area which has live music at dinner time. Food is alright. Plenty of parking. Would recommend it for family and couples.
Rubbish hotel
Shower didn't really work, might as well not have air con as it didn't do much. The room smelled a lot. One of the member of staff shouted at my girlfriend for feeding the cats. Also the to didn't have no English channels but we got free wifi
was well good the staff were cool innit girfeobgjrfe vjfdbv sifhbovser sfjbgvksdvf# the review process drags me down
Excellent value for money
The hotel staff and breakfast was lovely The location is well out of the centre and involves taking a number 766 bus and a metro to the centre The room was pleasant though and the staff faultless The pizzeria next to the hotel was also superb and cheap
Great time in Orto di Roma
This Hotel is a bit far from central Rome. However it as a nice relaxing quaint atmosphere. I originally booked a single room, which turned out to be the size of a large closet. After requesting an upgrade which i was willing to pay for, the manager went out of his way to put me in an awesome room which he refused to accept any extra payment for! I must say that the staff completely made sure that I was comfortable and pleased!! The breakfast should include a few hot food choices but overall I had a great stay.
Very authentic but not great for tourists.
The staff had a minimal knowledge of any language but English, the hotel was basic and quite far out of the city but it's a lovely authentic experience.
Good value if you have a rented car to park
Service was non-existent, but the location was right (few kms from Appia Antica and the catacombs) and the room was clean and the bed comfortable. We required free parking, as we rented a car, and that was worth it in and of itself. Good value for the money if you need parking and don't want to stay in Rome's center.
Orto Di Rome is a MUST !!!!
The hotel is a pearl in a hidden part of Rome, about 20 min. drive from the old city center, staff was great, hotel is wonderful and romantic, service is excellent. 3 problems we had were: 1. Breakfast was small and unfulfilling 2. No refrigerator in the rooms 3. a couple next room had loud s-e-x and another couple was n-a-k-e-d with open windows - so not suited for families with children.
Comfortable and worthy
I like its Kind staff, beautiful environment and cleanliness. It is a worth hotel regarding to its price. Only it is far from downtown.
A comfortable stay
Lovely staff and a comfortable nice clean place to lay your head.
All it was perfect.Value for money the best.
Hidden jewel in Roma
Orto di Roma is a hidden jewel. A little bit out dated but decorated with really nice Italian features. The rooms were comfortable with a really working A/C!!! A real good breakfast, although the lady that attended had some attitude:( The restaurant next to them was very good and the food was awesome! A 15 minute drive from all the touristy things that Roma offers.
While this place is a little out of the way, it was absolutely wonderful. The breakfast was great, and the service at the front counter was amazing! Everyone was very kind despite some inter-friend disagreements that left one of us being rude. There is public transit to help you get to the city and it is walkable to the local metro station, but it is a bit of a hike. Would come again in a heartbeat!
Average stay
Everything was fine till the couple in the room next to our got a bit loud. The service is however good and its close to rome central by bus and car. There is a restaurant in the hotel which is okay. The area is quite and you get a good sleep at night. The room is was alright. Breakfast finishes at 10 which is a bit early. Receptionist very friendly and polite.
Good hotel for money
Good hotel, helpful and friendly staff, excellent breakfast, easy access to public transport.
Nice location and very nice staff
My stay was very nice and the restaurant next to the hotel had some of the most amazing pizza I had in my stay in Rome
nice place
were there for business trip for 4 days. room was ok. great wi-fi coverage. nice and simple breakfast.
A very Nice Stay
Positives- Interiors are good, close to my office, close to bus stops, close to shopping mall, STAFF IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND KIND. I would like to stay here again as staff is way too pleasant and kind. Negatives- Room Size and Room View
Nice hotel, good value for money
Excellent breakfast, huge choice and delicious pastries. Bedrooms quite compact but clean and serviced daily. Bus stop for Nu 776 outside hotel which connects to metro at San Paulo Basicilica into rome termini, etc. resturant next door, reasonable price and speak English!! Took about 35-45 minutes to get into Colossiem, etc. Would recommend buying a Roma transport pass if stay here so can hop on and off buses, metro, tram as often as you like. Saves a lot of hassle buying tickets and also money if trying to see as much of Rome as possible in a limited time.
Hotel
A good base if you are happy to have be in a quieter area and dont want to sample the nightlife. Staff very friendly & helpful. The adjacent restaurant very good for seafood and all the usual Italian dishes of pasta & pizza and seemed to serve the local area and very busy on some nights with birthday parties for locals.
Prepare to travel
We arrived past 2300 and reception was staffed. We were welcomed and checked in then shown to our room. We were able to buy some cans of beer which was welcomed after our journey. We chose the train to Ostience and metro to Basilica di s Paolo. The plan was bus to hotel. We ended up taking a taxi, who tried to take us on a round trip to up the meter. We protested and he agreed €20. The next day we skipped breakfast for a lie in. You need to buy tickets in advance for transport. €6 gets you daily travel throughout Rome. 766 bus to Basilica then metro to anywhere you choose. Hotel room was cramped, limited channels on sky box and no mini bar. Restuarant was ok, steak not cooked to request. Overall, pleasant, rustic hotel if you are good with navigating your way around a new city.
Close to Roma city center. Quint. Clean rooms. Authentic breakfast.
Good base...
The hotel served its purpose as a good base in which to see the sights of Rome. You have to rely on public transport which is a bus and metro into the center, unless you have your own transport. The room was small and no frills but again served its purpose. The breakfast was good and plenty of options but only continental. Coffee served was great. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and advised us how to best get around. All in all we had a good stay.
Out of the way, but loved it here
If you have a car, this place is a great place to stay!
Not so close to the city
I got used to getting to the main city later on, but it would be definitely more comfortable to pay more and get a hotel closer to the city. Also, I really couldn't stay that weird smell of the room. Staffs were nice and welcoming but not all of them spoke english so well.
Italian style hotel
It is a bit far away of the center (bus to metro / trastevere and nightbus available). This was my 10th hotel in Roma all 3 or 4 stars. I can say it was one of the best. There is a nice restaurant next to the hotel. Breakfast was very good. Furniture of the hotel is nice italian style. The room was clean. Internet was working. Personel was friendly. There is a park next street to run. It is very close to my work place so I am a bit biased on location. The only reason I do not stay there is quite high price for long term staying.
This hotel is only good for 1/2 nights at a push
People are nice and there is a bus to the city but the hotel is old and needs doing up you can find better for ur money so look !
Expensive for what you get
Scrub the mould in the bath room and for gods sake give the rooms a paint job.
Leisure stay
It is a bit far away from the tourist area. From Airport, take the coach bus (5 Euro) to Termini (30 minutes). Then take the metro B (1.5 Euro) to Basilica S Paulo (10 minutes). Transfer to Bus 766 to Via Di Grotta Perfetta / Calderon (20 minutes). Walk 200 meters and you are there. Bus 766 runs every 20 minutes. If you are going on the Cruise ship at Civitavecchia, take the 766 bus all the way to Staz, Trastevere. Buy the train ticket for around 9 Euro each. Overall, you save on the hotel fare but you need extra time to get to tourist attractions.
Perfect B&B
First impresion was improoved by the overall quality shawn during the stay.thanks.
Mother Daughter trip
Used past reviews to find a budget-friendly room to stay while sight seeing with my daughter in Rome. The Orti di Roma served our needs well. It required 30-40 minutes of metro/bus travel to and from (on Sunday, there must be fewer busses running, as travel time was >1 hour due to waiting for bus). I found the ride back to the room was a nice time to wind down and review the day before she had wifi access back and I lost her to her friends. The bus stop was about 1/2 to 1 block from entrance to hotel. The first day was a bit intimidating as we figured out stops/metro etc, but by day 4 we were (almost) experts. The staff was very friendly, they spoke English, though occasionally we left not exactly sure we understood each other. We should have asked for more detailed info before we headed out, but assumed we could figure it out for ourselves. Just depends on how adventurous you want to be. Our room was just above a courtyard and could be a bit noisy if people were gathered there, but nothing too bothersome. Had to close the window once due to smell of cigarette smoke. There was a restaurant there that we did not try, but it must be great, it was always crowded.
Awesome deal
I spent a night for business in that neighborhood. Friendly and helping staff, clean and spacious room (considering Ita standards), potent yet silent heating system, in-room safe, free sparkling water, lightning fast wireless, very nice breakfast, view of the green fields and parks of South East Rome, huge mall right across the street. Outstanding for the price I paid. Definitely will come back there next time. Only downside: a little bit out of the touristic routes, so expect about 1 hour to get historic downtown (say, Piazza di Spagna) by public transportation.
Nice hotel
Front desk very helpful. Breakfast was pleasant and nice variety. I would stay there again.
Hotel with character
The hotel was very pleasant and the staff were friendly. It was good to stay out of the main city of Rome. It was a very quiet area. There was a good restaurant next door and the bus stop out front took us to the train station to get a train into the main city of Rome. There were no laundry facilities for guests to use but the hotel did have a facility to send laundry out if necessary. We found a large shopping centre nearby which is hidden from the hotel.
an oasis of calm
Coming back to the hotel after a day in the busy city was like coming back to an oasis of calm. The hotel is in a peaceful, semi-rural location in the suburbs. Access to central Rome is not as easy as it could be but we got used to it. There are very frequent buses (about every ten minutes) that take you to the Basilica San Paolo tube station, and from there it is a short tube ride to the sights. It is worth buying a ticket that covers all travel for several days (it covers buses, tube and tram). The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There is a pretty roof garden where you can sit and view the suburbs. The large restaurant next door has an excellent, wide-ranging menu and busy, friendly atmosphere, visited regularly by locals.
old residence villa linked to subway by bus
When we arrived at the Rome airport, we asked for info at a ticket booth and was offered to send us to the hotel with 15 Euro each. So we easily got to the hotel early in the morning but could not check-in. We bought bus tickets (1 Euro each) at the gas station across the street and took bus #766 to the subway station to get our Roma Pass (25 Euro each). The Roma Pass offers free public transit plus two museums. So we went to see the Colosseo immediately. The line-up was long there but with the Roma Pass, we could directly get in which saved us some time. When we went back to check-in, we found our room to be simple but spacious. The only thing is that the bed has four poles and the ones at the footboard were terrible stumbles for us. The safe was not working but quickly fixed later on. The breakfast was good with choices - meat and cheese included. The expresso there was good, and the service was great.
Quiet location with very friendly staff
The hotel is in a nice quiet residential area with a good buffet breakfast, local shopping mall in easy.walking distance and a very good restaurant adjacent. The owner and son were very pleasant and helpful with directions into central Rome (30 minutes with public transport) but the rooms are in need of updating including new beds, air conditioning repairs and WiFi is not accessible in all rooms.
Orto di Roma Hotel in Rome
We stayed only for 2 nights here from a trip to Sweden in which we had a good rest that it made us late in the next morning. Though we had an issue opening the door with the key upon checking in, we found secured inside because of additional door in the entrance with key as well. Cleanliness was good and the aircon functions the way we want it to be unlike others. We did not enjoy watching TV because they are all in italian. Shower room is good with all the minimum toiletries required . The food and the service in the reception was ok.
A wonderful experience
We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located in the E.U.R. area of Rome, but the public transportation in Rome can get you anywhere in the city very easily. The staff of the hotel gave easy directions for using the public transit system, and even sold the metro cards at the hotel. The breakfast provided bythe hotel was tastey and the capaccinos were awesome! The restaurant downstairs was lovely, and the food was reasonably priced and delicious! When we come back to Roma we will be staying at the Orto di Roma again.
Good and cheap hotel
It is a good hotel, comfortable, good breakfast, good location, but the only detail is that the wifi wasn't working. I would recommend it anyway.
Fantastic family owned hotel
The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating. They offer a shuttle service from the airport, if needed. The room was clean and the grounds were very well kept. We were there for 2 weeks and never had any problems. The hotel is located just on the outskirts of Rome and was close to both a bus stop and a shopping center. We were provided with a map so that we knew where the bus stops and metro were.
Inexpensive, Clean and Friendly
The management is great! We were so tired when we got off the plane and ended up arriving with all of our luggage early. The managers had no problem letting us check in early. The rooms were decent size and very clean. They were cleaned daily, which was appreciated. The breakfast selection was good. The one thing that was great was having fresh specialty coffees made in the morning. Most all of the staff knew English which was nice because they were able to give us detailed directions to everywhere we needed to go. The bus line is close and it is only a few minute ride to the train station which will take you to Rome. I don't have any complaints. It was honestly loads better than what I was expecting for the price.
Out of the Way Find
This hotel in on the outskirts of Rome, but a taxi ride from the hotel to the Roma Termini was only 18 Euro. The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. They were happy to tell us how to get back from the city center using the mass transit of trains and buses (they have a great map!!!) A friend of ours was stationed in Venice, so he came down to visit us in Rome, but the time got away from us, so instead of him catching a train back to Venice, he came back to the hotel with us. The concierge on duty (at midnight) was more than accommodating was got a 3rd bed, blankets and pillow for him to sleep on! The thoughtfuls went way beyond what we were expecting and couldn't be happier. After spending so many nights in the hustle and bustle of the "city" we were happy for a night of quiet before we returned home. I would definately recommend this hotel and stay there again!
good price/value
This nice family hotel is out of the city center in a quiet and nice area, and we have to change public transport only at once: it's only 10 minutes by bus to the closest underground station and the bus stop is right next to the hotel. But buses come when they want :-) There are a lot of car parking places and it's free and safe, so very useful if you arrive to Rome by car. You can leave your vehicle here and go to the city center by public transport. Don't use your car in the city!
Will use it again
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also spoke English. Information is freely available regarding bus and metro connections and tickets can be bought from the front desk. The journey time into the centre is about 30 minutes and we found this to be no trouble, even with a 2 year old. The breakfast is typically Italian so do not expect eggs and bacon!! The restaurant next to the hotel is very good and the prices are reasonable. We had a really nice stay and will be going again.
Tre giorni a Roma
Heerlijke accomodatie, lekker rustig
Verder was alles goed bevallen
Also wer seine Ruhe sucht ist dort nicht gut aufgehoben. Waren drei Nächte dort und es waren zwei Nächte mit feiern und lauter Musik. Den Pool konnte man nicht benutzen weil die Partygäste dort gesessen haben.
Orto di Roma | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
Friendly staff, specially the front desk employees. I wish they had vegan options for the breakfast
