Pretty convenient and was excellent value.
Loved staying here
Great little location. A 10-12 minute walk from Kyoto station and a 20-25 minute walk from the Gion District and Nisshiki Markets. Clean, modern hotel with very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.
Overall this hotel was great. Excellent staff, understanding, informative, and accommodating. The ability to rent bikes directly from hotel was a nice touch to be able to navigate the city. As well as a nice Japanese breakfast is available as well. Would recommend as long as your ok with navigating public transit :)
Very happy with our stay!!
The room was compact but thanks to the layout, it felt quite spacious.
Staff were lovely. Breakfast was great. Cleanliness, facilities and services were convenient.
朝食はバラエティがあり、何を食べても美味しかった。
Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere
Clean and safe
Good
Definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend. Sometimes there was a loud sound during the night that came from the walls
Internet in room doesn’t work. Limited amenities. Area lacks food options. Go stay in Gion
Lovely hotel but a minor issue with the blinds
We loved our stay at the hotel but the blinds that were not blackout made it a bit difficult to sleep. If the blinds were blackout I think our sleep quality would improve. Overall we would stay again.
Great for solo travel
Clean and tidy hotel in a very convenient location. Felt very safe for a solo traveler. The rooms had all the amenities you would want
The little garbage was found under the throw pillows in the sofa. Also the window was not locked so it had been so cold and noisy until I found out it was little opened.
Lobby is probably the best part of the hotel, the rooms are a bit small. Washroom walls are thin and could use some updates. Overall a good stay however.
I stayed here for only 2 nights but had a great stay! The rooms were clean and the location was tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance from the train Kyoto station.
Property is very clean and staff is very kind.
I very much enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend staying here. Pro: Amazing & helpful staff, nice property, spacious rooms, wonderful breakfast buffet (good for vegetarians as well), free water bottle (when room is cleaned), safe/quiet neighborhood Con: Closest metro station is 10-12 minutes walking, moldy smell in bathroom, fridge is not cold (more of a slightly cool space) The highlight of my stay was the staff, who were all very helpful and accommodating. There is accessibie transportation around the hotel, but keep in mind that the closest metro station is 10-12 minutes, which isn’t far but you don’t realize how much walking you do in Kyoto, so when your feet/legs are sore or hurting, this is a factor coming and going into the main areas of the city. Kyoto Station is conveniently not far, about a 18-20 minute walk from the hotel. There is a bus stop just two blocks from the hotel which comes from Kyoto Station, as well as other bus stops a couple blocks away as well. I had a deluxe twin room which was very spacious for myself, there were two twin beds pushed together along with a couch. This would be spacious for two people and can probably accommodate three if needed. If you purchased the Sky Hop On/Off bus, there is a stop about 4-5 blocks from the hotel at Higashi-Hongon-Jo Temple. The bathroom did have a moldy smell, but it clears out when you turn on the bathroom fan and AC. Be careful not to put too many clothes in the laundry or it won’t dry.
Okay
Great stay. Highly recommend. Great value, well located, bikes available for free, good size room
Beautiful lobby and the rooms were quite nice. We payed for a king bed however which was just three single beds pushed together, it was uncomfortable..
Don’t like lower floor, have window but no view! Can’t see outside and sky! Terrible feeling! Special thanks to Front desk staff Miyamoto, she is very helpful! Thanks again
4 nights, very nice, centrally located easy walking. Hotel was great , big breakfast included. Rooms were small and bed mat against wall so person had to climb over other. Not many restaurants directly around. L’Parte restaurant fantastic. Good blues whisky bar nearby v
The hotel was very beautifully decorated at first sight, and the breakfast was amazing. However, once you start paying attention to the finer details, I don’t feel the 4-star hotel, as per official website, was met. 1) we got a king size bed, Japanese style (no frame), but we uncovered that it was made with three twin size mattresses horizontally put together. I toss a lot while I sleep so they definitely started separating through the night. 2) the safe was not nailed to the shelf and took two full days before it was fixed. Note, they tried putting us into another room but that safe was also not screwed into the shelf. I’m sure it broke overtime with other guests but I don’t feel that it’s right it took so long for it to be fixed. A staff tried to help us fix it with a screw driver without a handle. We needed an electric drill since the original screw hole was too large, but she said they didn’t have any, and she did not know where the handle went. 3) it was a lovely area, but the location was quite inconvenient. I didn’t really see a lot of restaurants and it’s about a 10 minute walk to the station. However, the hotel in general I think it’s a bit cheaper compared to others, so I think that was a bit expected. 4) it’s my first hotel with coin laundry available. It’s a low rise hotel but there were quite a few suites, but only 3 machines. Every night there seems to be a lineup to use. Otherwise, the room was sizeable and very clean. Staff in general was quite responsive.
Decent rooms for a fair price, easy walk to the station or bus stop. Would recommend
Staff were really helpful and hotel was very clean.
Nice new clean hotel with friendly staff and good sized room for Japan.
Great hotel close to lots of attractions.
Very clean and beautiful hotel (both from the outside and on the first floor lobby). Only downside was the WiFi wasn’t really working when we came (for our specific room) so internet service was pretty patchy otherwise would highly recommend this place
Amazing area
Its the small details that made this stay a bit worse than expected. The sheets and pillows smelled, there were dusty areas around the room and there were parts of the toilet that weren’t cleaned. Also, the ventilation in the room was poor. The breakfast was nice though.
Really quiet place to stay, not very far from Kyoto station. Really kind and perfect seevice.
It’s like a 3-4 star hotel for 2 star price, lovely rooms, tons of amenities. Maybe 15 minute walk to Kyoto station? Quiet neighborhood.
Friendly staff and 15 min walk to Kyoto Station Nice rooms and amenities as well
Room was okay but very humid and we could not ventilate properly. We did the laundry and it didn’t dry for 2 days. Breakfast was excellent, general design of the hotel is great and overall the stay was good price to quality choice
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. They offer bike rental at a reasonable rate. Location is good, bus stop is walkable.
I would recommend this property to other people.
.
Amazing facility and location
Bad wifi
Need to take taxi to any train station, unless you want to take bus . Bus is about 5 mins walking distance
Room was very clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and very helpful. It is near some tourist destinations like Nishi Hongan-ji, and a short taxi ride to Kyoto station. It is also walkable to Kyoto station, maybe 20 or 25 minutes. Not the nearest to public transportation, but overall it was comfortable.

Breakfast was delicious!
Very clean and stay was very polite. Also has great breakfast
Great place to stay and recommended
Had a wonderful stay. Loved our room and lobby area and service. Wished we stayed longer.
The hotel is in a convenient location, yet quiet area. 19 mins walk from station and walkable distance to Nishiki Market app 30 mins. The hotel welcome drink station is the best we have encountered. It has the standard tea and coffee, juices and water. It also offer local delicacy of cold green tea, sake and Dashi soup, nuts and sweets. The buffet breakfast is very worthwhile too. It offers western choices and Japanese choices with desert section buffet too. Personally, i would give this hotel’s breakfast a massive thumbs up. The hotel is very well designed with the traditional and modern combined. Like all Japanese hotels, it’s prestigiously clean and staffs are super nice and friendly. The hotel rooms are no thrill but it’s clean, good space and has everything we need.i would visit again
Checked out early
Our room smelt really bad (kind of like mold?). It seemed to come from the bathroom, but closing the bathroom door did not keep the smell from the room. The “king bed” was three twins pushed together with a sheet over it. This was a very uncomfortable mattress. The box that appeared to be a mini-fridge was not cool. I read another review saying that staff had called it a “cool box”. Since mini-fridges seem standard for hotel rooms, we bought snacks to store. We had to throw them away because they were not kept cool. We checked out a day early due to the discomfort of the hotel room.
Their breakfast was good.
Nice looking place but not the best stay. The lobby was nice and had some free snacks but the smoking room was in the lobby making it smell some times. The wifi was HORRIBLE and never worked. Our king bed was 3 mattresses put together making it uncomfortable. The fridge was luke warm and did not keep anything cold. Would not go back.
Comfortable hotel
Room is spacious and comfortable! Suitable for cycling, we enjoyed so much!
The bikes made it super convenient to get around. The room was pleasant, no major complaints overall.
Staff was very tourist friendly and competent.
Oriental Hotel Kyoto Rokujo was as pictured: stylish, new, clean, bed was very very comfortable. All bathroom amenities you need, water pressure and temp, in general bathroom amazing. Room amazing, hallways amazing and lobby incredibly comfortable and amazing. Location short 10 min walk from a station if you are able to walk with rolling luggage. Overall fantastic stay. Would definitely come again. Great spot that is on side street and quiet. Kyoto is AMAZING. Ramen shop New Taihou Ramen nearby on main street is great and inexpensive. Traveller's family of 2 adults and 2 older teens in two rooms from Vancouver. As in orher places around the world, Twin Beds in Japan really only sleep 1 person so dont expect otherwise. The staff here are ery helpful.
Muy tranquilo
Travelling as a family is always a challenge. The staff of the oriental hotel made things simple and propose solutions tailored to our needs. Would give them a A mark when travelling to Japan.
Great place to stay.
For the money it’s a great place. A bit more traditional style mattresses on floor. Good traditional breakfast for a reasonable price. Take 9 bus to Kyoto station.
We loved that the location was in a quiet, more residential area, with quick walking access to many locations. Staff were very friendly and the hotel was modern and clean. Would highly recommend!!
Loved this hotel
Really liked the garden area.
The hotel is new, rooms were big, beds were very clean and comfortable. It was in a residential neighborhood so nothing much to do but near Kyoto Station and Nishiki Market.
This hotel is great value for money. I loved the Japanese- style room, which was spacious, and uncluttered. What I didn’t like: was the inability to check in before 3 pm, the ask to pay an extra ¥1000 if one wanted to do so; the breakfast area only opening after 7 am with everybody crammed in, and the lack of any room service or food/ beverage facilities.
A place in Kyoto
Very good and well located hotel. Clean and efficient.
Great place to stay in Kyoto minus the bed
Fantastic hotel with excellent service. Complimentary snacks and beverages in the lobby. Great bathroom with deep soaking tub. The only drawback is the incredibly hard mattress.
Best hotel we’ve been to so far on our month long trip, clean, affordable, great options nearby, amazing staff
They were professional and kind.
The staff are very friendly and respectful.
Best breakfast in Kyoto. Unfortunately, like all Japanese hotels, what they consider to be a "twin" bed is really a single bed for the rest of the world. I managed to get decent beds for my family for a reasonable upgrade fee. From now on that will be our room in Kyoto (if available of course).
Great quiet hotel
Great spot just off the main roads. Nice and quiet. The breakfast was alsp very good. An easy walk to Kyoto station and very walkable to other major sights in Kyoto. Staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable.
The hotel are clean, but the rooms were a bit stuffy.
We had an okay stay nothing to wow!
We had an okay stay a this hotel, the room and the bed are comfy but other than that the service was mid! The free drink at the entrance is nice. It is a bit far away from the station and there is no shuttle but it was very quiet!
Great access to many bus lines
Overall the hotel was very nice, but there were some obvious areas where cleaning had been missed. Bathroom was well presented, but the gap between the seat and the head of the toilet had a lot of dirt and hair in it. The lower parts of the walls had shoe scuff and the carpet could do with a clean. Other than that a top hotel and great staff.
We stayed in room 211 classified as a superior room! There was nothing superior about it. The bathroom sink was in the entry way next to the entry door. With dark lighting in this area. So if you wanted to put make up on there was inadequate light. The actual bathroom was narrow and no mirror in there. The bedroom was narrow and walls were dirty. Scuff marks and what not on the walls. And the bed runner at the foot of the bed was stained. We moved to a deluxe room 2 days later which was an improvement but I paid more for the a superior room. Do they not know the meaning of superior? The customer service was lacking as well. Attention to detail was not practiced at this hotel, running out of toilet paper, and amenities in the lobby. This hotel has improvements to make and should not be rated 9 as they advertise on the registration counter. This hotel is not recommended.
I booked room 211 which was described as supreme. It had futons, double twin occupancy. The bathroom sink was in the entry way outside of the narrow bathroom and shower area. Lighting in the entry was was dark. There was a long wood cabinet counter in the bathroom area which could have been set up for use i.e. better lighting and a mirror but was not. The bedroom walls were dirty from luggage scuffs and what not. After 2 nights we moved to a deluxe room which was an improvement from the supreme! Go figure. Staff had some language barriers but it was the lack of customer service that was most disappointing. They also were slow to maintain the 1 lobby bathroom. We stayed in the hotel for 8 days and got a real good feeling and full experience of the hotel and staff.. I would not recommend this hote.
Had a wonderful stay at this property. While rooms are on the smaller side, property compensates that with overall hospitality of the staff, well maintained modern aesthetics, cleanliness and complimentary snacks, drinks.
Excellent Hotel over all. Location was great. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The property location is very good, off of a main street but more residential and quiet. The location is not far from Kyoto Station and other landmarks like Gion and a temple is across the street. The exterior of the property and the lobby area are nice. But that is pretty much where the nice stops. The rooms were very crowded, marks on the wall, the air flow was horrible it was like a sauna, glad we were not there during the summer. There were 3 beds for 4 people, they don't have rollaway or extra futons. The two twin beds were comfortable but the other was a very hard sofa even to sit on (not a pull out) twin size that was used as a bed. The staff were not friendly nor very helpful. This hotel was the second of the three hotels that we stayed in, the other two hotels the staff were so much more helpful and friendly. This was my second visit to Kyoto it won't be my last, but will be my last stay at this hotel.
It was nice and easy. The only issue was WiFi dropping and disappearing during the evening/night/early morning, which wasn’t ideal as that is when we could talk with our friends/family in our time zone.
Safe and convenience locatiin near to the bus station and train station.
Excellent place
Overall description of the facility is mid-represented. RV size barroom; TV on wall of room is horrible. Breakfast was horrible. I would not stay here in the future and wouldn’t recommend this facility.
Loved being in a neighborhood close to transportation, dining, activities
The hotel entrance is very pretty and the staff were very kind! The room was spacious enough for us to move around without issue with four luggages and two duffel bags. The wifi was grear and the free snacks and beverages were convenient when getting home late. We took advantage of washing our clothes in the laundry room prior to our next destination. Overall it was a great stay!
Clean. Affordable. Nicely designed.
Very beautiful and comfortable rooms! The hotel was extremely clean and service was extremely friendly and professional
Beautiful and spacious hotel. They had free sake and beverages in the evening and a delicious breakfast buffet.
Everything about the room is perfect, but the location is a bit far from everything, e.g. nearest convenient store is about 10mins away
Nice size room, well connected
You get what you pay for... The pictures online were so deceiving. First off, the room was so small. Its also not so clean. The shower curtain had stains. There were also pee stains and traces of mold along the bath tub corners and floor. The cleaning staff only come in on the 4th night to change the bed sheets and throw trash away. They don’t give you more toilet paper, so be prepared to buy some. The lobby is pretty much the only decent looking place of the hotel. The hallways and room are just all white. No decorations, no creativity. Breakfast was okay, but they should add more variety to the menu rather than serving the same thing every day.
Lovely hotel in Kyoto
This hotel is beautiful and the service is wonderful. The breakfast is definitely worth it. The beds were firm and the pillows very comfortable. It’s in a great location
Clean room but small. Good location
The room I book it’s with the double bed, however it’s not a proper double bed mattress, they use three baby cot mattress combined to make up a double bed, it’s unacceptable! They explained Japanese style bed all like this, what a joke!?
Good experience
It is a wonderful hotel.
A beautiful hotel
Excellent

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel! We stayed for 3 nights and had breakfast included which had great variety, the staff were lovely and helpful, and the room was spacious and comfortable. We would definitely stay again!
