No kettle ,noisy nightclub nearby and many mosques close by calls to prayers are very loud. The hotel is close to eating places

Its an older establishment so definitely not modern. However the rooms are large, great view, good beds, AC, fridge. I will return here for sure.

Near the Nasi Kandar Restoran, Easy to walkable. Need to improve for the Iron place (Put I floor for one iron). Please change the torn toilet curtain. The family room is big.

This place is old and outdated. Bring your in house slippers, carpet is very old and stained. Clean in the sense that no roaches or other insects. Bathroom was updated with newer tiles but There are still some mold around the sink area.. don’t understand why they don’t remove it.

good location right near love lane. nice big room, decent bed and love the wetroom style bathroom. pack ear plugs if your a light sleeper, I was on 7th floor but music from bar outside was prominent

Fixed the shower which wasnt draining. Helpful. A cleaner took my phone charger cable. By accident?

Very near to chowrasta and walking distance to restaurants and shopping area. Parking no a problem most of the time

Room good, but too many problems

The room itself was fine. Large, and with views over the city. But ... The shower was only lukewarm. The TV had only 5 channels, none were English language. The fridge was wired into the same circuit as the lights, so it turned off when I removed the key to leave the room. When I returned at the end of the day, all the stuff in the fridge was warm, and also sitting in a pool of water because the icebox had defrosted. The aircon turned itself off every few hours for no apparent reason, requiring a manual reset.

Very correct, everything ok, it's not luxury but a casual hotel which needs may be some refreshment a bit outdate. I would suggest to choose a room facing the harbour and the sea, opposite the main entrance because on the other side you will hear the sound boom boom boom, infra bass from the nightclub across the street 'till 2 am at least. I was there during the week so I can't say for the we.

No ac above 8th floor

Television not functioning . No coffee/Tea and boiling pot . No Aircond at the reception floor Why Rm 2 tax add on daily ?. All Staff are very helpful and polite.Reply what can you improve my previous stay since December 2021. None improvement ?.

Oriental Hotel is in the middle of George Town, everything there is within a walking distance, clean and neat. The front desk lady, Pheylliiezz, was welcoming and friendly and most helpful with tons of info about town. Will stay there again. Thank you very much!

Alot of renovation works needs to be done!

It is one of the oldest hotel but the bathroom and room flooring are well done. TV set only limited to 2 channels as the rest of channels are mute and very poor quality transmission etc. Limited amenities on a small fridge n 2 bottles of water no boiler for hot water. Cupboard in room very dull n old only did paint works to look new but dusty n dirty.

Hotel Oriental in George Town Penang is totally run down. No warm water supplied. Bathroom curtain can see through from outside. Only one single power plug available in each room. I won't recommend this hotel to friends and relatives!

parking is available but parking guards for outsiders by taking payment, that's why the end to the hotel can not park. When asked the hotel manager they said who came first he could park the car but they did not know that the car parking guard for outsiders with payment.Paking guard needs to change.Better don't come this hotel if attitude it no change.

Good room..near by city

Great place to stay – I can easily walk to the heritage sites. I am a foodie and I love being able to walk to the best Penang food outlets and then go shopping! I find the hotel nice and clean – the room looks renovated because it has nice modern air conditioning, bathroom and floor. The staff was very helpful in giving me directions.

My room was big and clean with great views. Love the air conditioning and modern bathroom. Location wise was excellent – easy to get to food outlets and tourist spots. I was also able to walk to local shops and a shopping mall. Staff were friendly too. I would come back again.

Good value for money

5-15 mins walk to most things we wanted to check out in Georgetown area. Really good price and in a safe building with 24-hour friendly front desk. Downsides: quite noisy at night cos it’s located in a busy/ lively area; the room is basic with a few issues (broken lightbulbs, very thin towels). You need your own shampoo and shower gel. Overall good value for the money.

Damn hot the whole night with no cold air from the air cond. No shower gel & shampoo provided. No breakfast provided but shown inclusive breakfast while make booking. .

Price is reasonable for a family room. Recently renovated. Like the new outlook of toilet. Only thing is sometimes noise from night activities along Penang road is quite annoying.

I am always happy to stay at Oriental Hotel. All the staff, from the front desk to the room maintenance, are courteous, efficient, and friendly. The place is clean and well-maintained, view from window is great! My favorite things about the room are the calm colors and decor, large refrigerator, and a real desk with chair, much appreciated by those of us using laptops!

in future kindly provide prayer mat (sejadah) for Muslim since this is Malaysia. put at the counter will do so we can just request from you. the room was spacious, bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and spacious. nice view & shower. got limited private parking on 1st come 1st serve basis just opposite the hotel. surrounded by food, very near to rapid penang bus stop & can get the free rapid bus from there. the lack of this hotel just no wifi in my room and can hear loud music from nearby club until 3am. after all, we had a great stay here.

Old hotel but nice because they already upgrade their facilities. No need to use vehicle to find attraction and food. My family love it.

cant sleep well due to the noisy and loud speaker from arena clubbing which is just opposite of the hotel.. the music base cause the window feel like shaking and breaking

Had a great stay here, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the room was quite spacious. But most importantly, EVERYTHING is accessible by foot here, be it food stalls, restaurants, tourist attractions, which made my stay even more enjoyable. There is also a parking space provided for hotel guests, whis is a very big plus.

The staffs are no good.When I cheked in,3 front desk staffs pushing each other right infront of me in possessing my checking in. One even tell the other "do your work la"....

Don’t do it at any cost. There is bugs everywhere and managment refuses to acknowledge it. Please use your money somewhere else.

Close to everything

Great location, close to everything except maybe the beach, food is everywhere, shops is everywhere and public transportation and attractions is very near. Hotel is old school but the staff and location compensate that. Internet is very very weak .

Value for money

The hotel building and furniture are old and not use to it on the first day. But the room is spacious and staffs are friendly. Big value for money.

I ask for top up liquid soap on my 2 night for shower but, was turn down and given a small bar of soap by the 2nd shift staff

Overall the stay was okay. The staffs were quite nice and friendly. The room was in moderate condition, not dirty but not very clean. It was abit hard to get drinking water as it does not provide kettle, we had to get the drinking water from another floor. Parking space was not sufficient, we had to park outside the parking space and pay the parking fees ourselves.

The hotel maybe not enough staff, we serve ourselves to get water. But, it is not bad to us, as we able to get the water as many as we want! One of the room, the spring of the bed was broken and we couldn't slept well. Room is clean but too old.

Worth the stay

Short business stay. Good location in Georgetown. It was an old hotel but still well maintained. The room I got is quite spacious & even has a bath tub in the bathroom. Furniture is a bit old but since I was there just for 1 night, I had no complains. Value for money.

I went here for a business trip. Long story cut shorts, what I seen in photos is NOT what i see in the hotel itself. Their hotel services is average. Hotel condition is very bad. Because I've arranged to sleep one floor above the construction floor. The hygiene, forget it. Conclusion, will be last time check-in this hotel.

Being rated 2 star is seriously overrated!!

Booked and paid (even specially requested) for non smoking floor and given a smoking floor. The receptionist just don't bother about my concern on smoking floor and just mentioned that it's first come first served. The room condition is poor with the bed, toilet, fridge, etc were all darn old. Felt eerie entering the room. The door knob to the room came out and it took a few hours for them to decide to give me another room. I would recommend to top up another 100 for a much better room with better facilities and service.

Decent and well kept

Decent hotel. Old but well maintained except for the surrounding area. Got RM30 car park summon although valid parking coupons were displayed on my car's dashboard - and on Sunday morning!! All hail MPPP!

Stay for 4 nights.only room 807 satisfactory but too cold. Some rooms no shower curtain. no slipper and i have to buy it myself.
