The staff were fantastic especially at front desk.Couldnt do enough for us all looked after very well. Used hamam and spa facilities . Very good.Breakfast plenty of choice.Bright airy room
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean but could do with some renovating. Walls were very thin so it got noisy at times from people in the halls and neighbouring rooms. The location was excellent, within a 15 minute walk to all the major attractions and next to a tram stop.
Fix the internet speed. Staff is thoughtful, kind and courteous. Jacuzzi and pool are cold. Breakfast is average. They sold out of my room and moved me to a different hotel for 1 night. That had garbage internet and the night guy ignored my internet complaint. Rooms are small but this was disclosed I'm advance.
Good location close to several restaurants and shopping. Walking distance to many attractions.
10 minutes Sultaname Square… everything you can walking
Everything is outdated, old and rooms are very small and beds are hard.
Very noisy tram way into the night. Some staff not very welcoming.
Perfect city center location
The hotel is right in the city center; walking distance to all sights; the boats and markets. Rooms are updated and nicely decorated. Breakfast contains lots of local dishes and plenty to choose from- it’s a little busy if you go towards the end though. The pool is quite unique and was completely empty when we went which was very nice and relaxing. The orient express theme everywhere makes it very nostalgic. Very friendly staff that also gives tips to local activities. The rooftop restaurant has a great view and is even great for bird watching
Really enjoyed the swimming pool, staff were sweet, but rooms were a little small and after a few days we were a bit sick of having the same breakfast everyday
I usually stay at an another property in the area. I decided to give this place a try. It is clean, comfortable and centrally locate. The staff were polite and helpful. The only comment is that because it was located on the tram line, cars were not allowed drop us off at the hotel. I knew the area well enough to suggest alternatives for drop off and pick ups. The bell boy helped us bring our suitcases to the car. We did not use the pool which is one reason I went. It was too cool for me but it would not stop other people.
Excellent location
A great hotel in the heart of Istanbul. A few minutes walk to Hagia Sofia and many restaurants/cafes/bars on the street outside the hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast had a great selection and our baby was accommodated with a high chair.
Good
The hotel sits right by the tram track. Noisy all the time. The room is rather small. Bathroom is very tight. Air dryer didn't work. The staff even refused to provide adaptors.
Nothing
Great location.
It was a nice hotel. Great location. Was about to walk to a lot of places. Easily accessible to trams. I wouldve preffered the breakfast hosted on the top floor with a view rather than in -1. Also they could have provided more turkish authentic breakfast options.
The worst experience I have ever had. When we arrived after a very long flight with young kids. They had double booked our room and had to send us to another hotel near by that was like feeling inside a jail room , a small dark cubicle with no Windows or the slightest of fresh air, they put us all over three tiny rooms and my kids had to sleep on another side from us alone. The s
The pool and sauna were good therapy after walking all day on the hard stones and up the steep hills.
Great location, clean , helpful staff
Well situated for transport/ restaurants and easy access to the sights of Istanbul. Bit noisy but a small price to pay for the convenience
Great location in old town istanbul
Pathetic
Not bad for value paid
Nice hotel in excellent area but wifi is slow and receptionist were trying to overcharge for laundry service which wasn't nice.
The first night they placed us in a room too small for 3 people but it was resolved the next day. Staff very friendly and helpful, location was amazing and spa and pool a plus after walking the whole day!
Aweful aweful aweful
Pictures were deceiving. We booked the family suite. It was tiny. Could barely walk around the bed. The bathroom was so small we had to dress/undress one by one in the extra small bedroom .heat and ac not working despite multiple calls to front desk. Front desk staff do not speak english and know nothing of the area. Breafast buffet was a joke. Do not stay at this hotel.
Near all the historical places walkable
Great place to stay in the city center
Very courteous and helpful staff always willing to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast was awesome with a great healthy variety. Most historical places walking distance. City tours arranged by the hotel and picked up from the hotel. English speaking guides who took good care and very informative tour
Front desk staff i.e Onoor and Caan were very polite and helpful. The room amenities need a bit of improvement though.
The area is close to main attractions. Gloria jeans manager was welcoming. The guide supplied by the hotel, Murat, was fabulous. He was extremely knowledgeable and very kind as he stayed with us until the queues had lessened after 6 o’clock so that we could visit the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque even though we started at 10 am.
Grest location and price
Pleasantly surprised! Aftet reading some bad reviews I expected the worst. Yes, this hotel is on a tramline but it is an amazing location! Yes the taxi's cannot drop you out the front but the side streets are literally a 50mtr walk! The staff in reception were very helpful, the breakfast had a good variety, the room was very comfortable and clean, the indoor pool was lovely. In comparison to other hotels it was great value for money. Would definitely recommend based on location, price and comfort 👌
Service was very bad and rooms were very small
Loved the area! Cleaning staff not very welcoming. Same breakfast everyday, could have used variety, especially with fruit!
Location is excellent. Most staff do not acknowledge you by smiling or saying good morning when you go into reception or other areas, including breakfast. One lady at reception was very nice , even offered us complimentary breakfast on arrival. She always smiled . Sonnur at breakfast also always said good morning to guests. The other staff did not make us feel welcomed there. I would not stay there again, despite the lovely location.
Value for your money.... walking distance for most of the attractions... Good brakefast... room was small but mamanged as we were out of the room during day time... staff is really good and helpful....Recommended
Would strongly recommend this hotel
This hotel is in an excellent location if you want to see all the main tourist things. The restaurant on the roof was the highlight as it has the best service and good food. The downside of this hotel is that the walls are paper thin... you can hear everything in adjacent rooms.
Hotel on a tram way so be prepared of the rumble passed frequently in the day. You can’t park nor can you get picked up outside. The hotel was clean and met our needs. In US or UK it would be a 2 perhaps 3 star. Breakfast buffet was well presented with loads of choice.
The staff was very disrespectful and not accommodating and charge extra for something that we did not do. Not only did they talk over us but treatment was insane. Wouldn’t recommend anyone I know to stay here!
Great place to stay. Close to all the site’s restaurants and Turkish Delight. The room, bed are comfortable and the staff is very helpful. Highly recommended this hotel.
The breakfast was amazing had different foods everyday. Staff very helpful and good location.
The room was small, definitely NOT soundproof and the hotel receptionists were bad. They didn’t understand us and couldn’t be understood either. Some facilities were very difficult access, despite it stating they offer these amenities for example the ironing services - we had to wait four days till we were able to iron our clothes. Receptionists would often cut the phone when they couldn’t understand what we were trying to say. Some were impatient and quite rude, not friendly at all. Avoid this hotel. Definitely more of a 3 star hotel. The location was great but taxis cannot enter the road due to the tramlines sooo bare this in mind. ALSO the AC was incredibly noisy.
Could do better with breakfast else all good.
A band of thieves and liers. The worst experience I had in a hotel. When we arrived they told us they have an electrical issue and they don’t have a room for us. We later found out they lied and they overbooked the hotel. They told is we are going to send you to a better hotel for one night. The “better” hotel was a super small room with NO windows and no space to open our luggages. And since we had a tour in the morning , they told us we have to check out at 4am and bring our luggages to the hotel again. A complete mess. They promised us two free turkish baths to compensate for this, which was another lie and they just told us that to keep us quiet. Also another day, we asked for a transportation to a wedding venue we were going and the transportation never showed up. They told us go get a taxi and …. Anyway, overall, the rooms are bad. The AC does not work. The breakfast is not fresh at all. And the reception staff are not helpful and honest at all. The location is also bad because on that streets there are two train tracks that runs in front of the hotel and they are soooooo loud. And no car can get to the front of the hotel, if you need a taxi. Stay away. There are so much better hotels in the same neighborhood but on a different street and much nicer ones in Karaköy which is not far away at all.
Enjoyed the stay, a convenient location, pleasant staff. F.E.
I loved everything about the property except the fact that our AC was clearly not working . We struggled cus of the heat and the fact it was somehow making the room very humid. other than that service was great and the rooms were clean !
Cheap
Overall all the good point was the location very good and central. The cleanliness was quite low standards, found hair in the bed linen and in the bathroom floor tiles and wall, all night long a running water noise in the room, outside the window cleanliness...further more as a disappointment to be added we left the property earlier as a normal checkout not having the chance to get our breakfast, which was paid in full and no one offered us any kind of arrangement whatsoever. Lack of customers service attention.
Hotel is excellent! The stuff is very friendly. Rooms are comfortable, location -The best. Lady at the reception Aica is very nice person! My Next visit to Istanbul I will stay at orient express only!
Please read all... First night was terrible as our room was in front and due to road work, whole night was uncomfortable. Next day, upon complaint they shifted us to their chain hotel Orka Spa just 3 minutes away. So apart from first night, all was good and complaint immediately taken up. So thumbs up. Breakfast was normal. Both hotels are in reach of every location, Grand bazar, Sultanahmet, Egyptian bazar, Ayasofia, Topkapi Museum, Blue mosque and more. So if we plan again so we will prefer same hotel. Dont try food just in front of the hotel. There are many choices on walking distance and you can have good stakes, chicken and bread filled with cheese/spinach/ minced meet. We loved Hafiz Mustafa sweets. Booked Orient cruise ship dinner. Never give them a big currency note otherwise you will get back fake euro or dollar. Always keep small notes and give money as per bill on the boat. Never buy things from Egyptian bazar as you can get better prices from other places.
Just got back to London after an awesome stay in Istanbul. What made our trip so special was the awesome FOH team at this hotel. The lady on reception was a fountain of knowledge on the local attractions and what to see and even how to get there!!! Lovely room, clean, tidy, picturesque hotel and location. These guys really look after you. Highly recommend!!!
Highly recommended to stay at this hotel, staff so helping & friendly & so clean always shiny! Definitely I’ll stay again there on future!
Overall a good stay.
Overall it was a good stay, had some issues with noisy guests in the next room but staff were always willing to help.
great location, tram right outside, we found it easy to move around
Great
An excellent hotel I would like to thank Cihan and the team at the Orient Express Hotel. I couldn't ask for more with this hotel. The staff were really good and friendly. I travelled with my 4-year-old the staff were always playing with her. They also asked about our plans and made sure we knew how to get to the intended locations. The location of the hotel is perfect walking distance to most attractions, the breakfast was good, the rooms were nice and always tidy. The spa area the pool water was perfect. I will be going back to this hotel on my next trip to Istanbul
We have traveled to Istanbul for 4 days. It was good decision to satay on Orient Express.
Hotel located in the an area where the local tram passes. No taxis or shuttles are allowed on street, you need to walk a block or so to get picked up if you are taking taxi or shuttle.
2 rooms family short break
Arrived at hotel after our flight … told hotel had electrical problems and that we had to be taken to another hotel. So we had to walk to a back street hotel and given rooms which were old, substandard and balconies overlooking rubbish ! This we were told was an upgrade! Which it clearly wasn’t. We walked back and complained and insisted we have the rooms we had reserved…lots of discussions, and time wasted .. about an hour and a half… plus another walk back and forth to the other hotel to get our luggage… we were then given our rooms. This was a short break and we were not happy with wasting our precious time in the city. We also booked this hotel so that the family could enjoy the indoor pool… this was not operational… which was very disappointing. Breakfast was limited… so we ate out. Overall the rooms were clean but small. Location was good. Check and double check that pool is working and that they have the room/s you have booked as the alternative offered is not good enough and the reasons given suspicious… as we were given our rooms eventually and there was no electrical problems throughout our stay!??
Nice room well cleaned amazing stuff
Pleasant courteous staff, not consistently dependable. Perfect location for much of Istanbul's attractions. Paper-thin walls inhibit sleeping. Delicious and varied breakfast. Definitely recommended.
Every thing in this hotel is excellent: stuff, location ,cleaning and breakfast. Actually it’s not the first time I choose this hotel If I want to come back again i will choose this hotel
Wonderful experience!
We felt very welcome since arrival. The day was rainy and cold (January) and they offer us a hot tea a cozy apartment and all the practical information we needed during our stay. The breakfast was very good and all the employees very friendly. The building was very charming. Location is excellent! Walking distance to the main attraction of the old centre (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cisterna Basilica, Topkapki Palace, Galata Bridge). The only thing to be noticed is that is difficult to táxis to stop right in front of the hotel, due to a tramway line. But we drop off one block away and it was not a big deal at all. We suggest to buy trasportation card (rechargeable) in the front desk, in order to move around the city (by bus, metro, tramway and even ferryboat). Enjoy!
Budget Hotel on a Metro Track
Location is right on the Metro tracks and in the room way back you can hear the thunder like boom. Besides exactly at 10:00 AM jack hammer starts next to your window as a hotel is being constructed just behind it. The room is very Tiny and just a very tiny cubicle as a shower highly claustrophobic feeling. A TV the size of a laptop, the maid services the room daily fresh towels and bedsheets. The breakfast is standard no fried eggs or omelet and very Turkish an acquired taste. The staff Mr Fethullah is very helpful and will get you the best seats on the dinner cruise and whirling dervish only two bottle of water are provided on arrival rest on payment.
Well situated and convenient to all the main visitor attrsctions
This hotel is ideally situated,it’s within walking distance of all major attractions The staff on reception go over board to help and make stay enjoyable
well situated close to most important sites to visit ,clean, very good staff except a bit noisy at night with the tram
Smallish hotel in great part of Istanbul
An excellent hotel I have used a few times before. We were upgraded to a bigger room which was clean and comfortable. Breakfast varied and good.
After check in, I refused helping of hotel employee to go to my room. So, my room key (security-card-type) did not work by the operation of reception. And it was happened once more. And at night, next doors of my room were very noisy.
Great location
Very handy for tourists sites !
Orient Express, great for location Only
Great for location but not great for cleanliness, food, service
I loved the Orient Express theme! The staff are very welcoming and the breakfast is terrific.
Location and Staff 10/10 ... Condition 6/10
The location and staff of the Orient Express Hotel are superb ... but the room, facilities and services such as breakfast were in need of a review and improvement !
I liked the location of the hotel, the stuff politeness I didn’t like that the hotel is a little old
The room was not clean. The breakfast was very poor.
Recommend
Very well positioned for the main attractions. Friendly and helpful staff, good service, comfortable beds, good breakfast. We used shuttle to the airport, that was good as well. I have nothing negative to say really. Will stay again.
Hotel very clean, Service very professional and friendly.
Comfortable stay
We stayed one night in the Orient Express. Bed was comfortable, and the room and toilet were clean. The counter staff were friendly and gave us good advice.
Great hotel close by to many attractions
Staff were excellant, just that thebroom and toilets need an upgrade.
I enjoyed the excellent location and the front desk employees were excellent. The breakfast for me was a little disappointing based on the fact that I have been in this hotel on 2 other visits. The juice was not good and on a couple of days the main breakfast item was not fresh and could hardly be chewed. Please provide better juice choices and also Cappuccino would be a nice addition. The last three hotels that I stayed at in Istanbul offered Cappuccino in the morning at breakfast. I also missed the dried fruits that you used to have at breakfast. Housekeeping on the 4th floor was wonderful! She was a very lovely person and a great benefit to the hotel!! She was the best!!!
Well located hotel, with excellent breakfast
I have been to Istanbul many times, and I have to say that this hotel has probably got the best range of breakfast items on offer that I have seen for a long time. The staff are great especially Feitullah who was very helpful and courteous. All the breakfast staff were super efficient, no sooner was an item running low, it was replaced immediately. The same goes for the table service which was excellent. This hotel is very well situated and a 5 minute walk to the tram stop, which will pretty much take you anywhere. I have always stayed in this district as it is close to all amenities. This hotel has everything that you need for a comfortable stay in Istanbul, and without breaking your budget. I would highly recommend it to any future travellers.
close to all major tourist sites
on main tram lines near to all tourist sites, near to harbour good resturants and bars nearby
Really liked this hotel. Will definitely stay here again. Very nice breakfast. Staff super helpful.
very close to most of the tourist places,
excellent experience, the reception people are very helpful and kind. They act in a very professional way.
Most convenient and comfortable place to stay.
Excellent stay. We were there for 5 nights and everything about the hotel was perfect . Very helpful and pleasant staff. Hotel is spotlessly clean and we'll located . You can walk to all the monuments. Following theTram line running near the hotel makes it easy to find the hotel whenever you lose your way. It's a perfect place to stay.
A week in Instanbul.
Spent a week in this hotel in Instanbul. Very good situation near all historical landmark and the harbour. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Excelente hotel and very good service
Istanbul Orient Express
Excellent location close to all the sights. Staff could not do enough for you. Friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and spacious. Definetly recommend and will stay there again on my next trip to Istanbul
Great location for sightseeing
Had a lovely stay staff so obliging so helpful with all requests
My Turkey Experience
Very comfortable hotel,Very helpful staff, could advise you on sightseeing tours etc.Excellent service, amazing breakfast, close to many main attractions to transportation..This was my second visit and will certainly stay there on my next visit
Happening location, trains, convenient..hadi!
Everyone was very friendly. Free breakfast was also good too. One of the best i had in a hotel for free. I had a leak in my bathroom and they took care of it right away. My friend who was with me did speak Turkish which did help however the front desk did speak English. The only downside is that the private shuttle is in Euros and not Turkish Lires.
Close tontram station and tge interesting places
Room is a bit small and it’s difficult to but 2 big luggages. Overall friendly staff n cleanliness is ok. Only disappointed as mention our flight arrive at 6.35am n was at the hotelnat 7.30am. We waited for the room till abt 1 pm only. We were offered only coffee upon check in due to room were not ready. Check in the room about 1 pm , no towels and soap.. Other then that everything was ok.
Fantastic location but needs modernising
Hotel needs some modernising but i'd stay there again, regardless. Mainly due to the fact it's extremely central to transport links, top sights & hotel staff are some of the best i've ever come across! Hotel is clean & i enjoyed the buffet breakfast selection. A little investment in the decor will do wonders for the hotel.
Great
The room was so clean, room service is very good, Breakfast is good. reception staff are very good and helpful.
Great stay
Lovely, warm place. Kind and welcoming staff. If only the breakfast had more vegan options ..
Excellent location in the heart of istanbul, lovely street and close to transportation stations and touristic points. Very helpful staff! Cozy hotel, humble but the only problem the rooms are a bit tiny... Recommend!
It is 3 stars or 2 stars hotel
It is 3 stars or 2 stars hotel Very difficult for taxi to reach because of team line just front of the door Hotel has little bed of bad smell No shattaf in bathroom Staff are ok they do what you ask but no smile and sad faces Location in active area and just between to team station Breakfast is normal or below...no fried eggs Only boils egg...need to improve
the personnel was help full with my day trips e. g which buss to take. And the Wife. It was safe and clean
Great place to stay. Very centrally located.
Orient Express is very centrally located for seeing Istanbul. The only downside is that it is on the tram line, which makes it difficult to be dropped off at or picked up at. On the other hand, it is easy to explore the city from the hotel. The breakfast was very good (except for the fake orange juice). Staff very helpful. Wifi was good. Price was very good. I would definitely stay there again.
A very nice stay! With a super central location!
Staff were great, friendly and very informative. Very nice breakfast.
Nice hotel
All in all it is a nice hotel. Every thing was good. Nothing annoyed me
This hotel is outdated and in need of significant renovation. The bathroom towels are very old and nearly resemble cleaning rags. The sink in the bathroom was leaking, adding to the inconvenience. The reception staff have limited English proficiency, making communication difficult. The breakfast buffet offers the same traditional Turkish breakfast every day, with no alternative options available. Otherwise centrally located near all the major attractions within walking distance and plenty of restaurants around the hotel.
