Great stay! The gentleman that checked us in was so pleasant and helpful. Couldn't have asked for better. Room was clean and well appointed. Great location too!

Room and the public areas are very clean and bright. Room was smallish but well appointed. Bed comfortable Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. We will go back when we are in the area.

This is a lovely hotel. It is very tastefully decorated and furnished. The reception staff are very welcoming. It is close to public transport and is in a safe and walkable area.

Clean, quiet, and spacious room. Friendly hotel staff and well kept facility all around. Offers fresh, clean water station in the lobby which is super convenient. I lost a bracelet and the hotel staff was very kind to let me check the room again after I have checked out (cleaning staff hasn't cleaned it yet). Good location. Would stay again.

Excellent. Clean, decent room with proper mugs and glasses. A coffee machine in the room that can be used for simple hot water. Fridge, climate control, etc in good working order. Only gripe is that the windows don't open. At all. As for San Francisco itself, well, it's fascinating if you want to observe people spaced out on drugs in public. But there's nothing the hotel can do about that.

Very convenient to a variety of locations

Good Overall, But Not a “4-Star Hotel”

I booked through Hotels.com/Expedia, which advertised this hotel as 4-star. This is a very clean and well-managed hotel with extremely kind staff, but it’s not a 4-star experience. If you’re not staying during the JPM healthcare conference, then it’s a good, budget, eco-friendly 3-star experience at a fair price; but it doesn’t have the kind of amenities a person traveling for business would expect (e.g., did not have an in-room snack bar, slippers, a clothing steamer or overnight laundry/dry cleaning services). Three stars because the staff, from maid service to concierge, is truly top-tier.

Brilliant hotel: WiFi is rapid, clerks behind the desk are more than friendly. Room is massive, bed was comfortable too. The breakfast on my first day was great quality but a bit pricey relative to the UK breakfast places.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Hotel does not have parking but the parking it’s about a block away. Staff was caring and wonderful. They accommodated me longer than my check out because I was sick. It was a great experience

Great value stay at the Orchard Hotel

Really good value for price paid. We were perfectly content here for a one night stay while attending an event at the near by Masonic Auditorium. Rooms are neat and tidy, reusable water carafes with easy access to purified water were a bonus. No frills, but an efficient stay nonetheless. We will return!

Don’t be turned away by the low price- this is a very nice small hotel/ clean, well-run, friendly. Great choice for us.

Good value for the price but dated decor

The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful and courteous. The decor and furnishings are old-fashioned. It is a good value for the price except for the cost of breakfast. However, the service at breakfast is outstanding and the food was very good. There is no food service after breakfast.

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights. The beds were so comfortable. We appreciated the coffee pods and tea bags for the morning and mini fridge for keeping some small breakfast items. There are filtered water machines to fill the room jugs with throughout the hotel. It can be a bit of an uphill climb to the hotel depending on the direction you’re coming but that’s San Francisco. We also liked being near Chinatown for easy access to eateries, grocery stores, bakeries, and coffee shops. It was easy to access public transit and the cable car stop is right next to the hotel in the Powell/Bush intersection. We appreciated the attentive 24h front desk staff and got what we needed from them or delivered to our room by staff.

Great new find for a fun weekend in San Francisco

Its an older hotel that has been very well maintained. The rooms are a decent size and bathrooms are big with plenty of hot water. We got a connecting corner room on the 8 th floor and it was so nice and quiet. The beds are super comfy with nice linens/ pillow and feather duvet. We liked how they had water bottle filling stations which we used every day. The toiletries were nice and they had a kurig - seemed very good value for the price for San Francisco . We loved the location- easy to get to Market street/ union square for Trams/ cable car and you can easily wander in to both China Town or North Beach so lots of great restaurants. Fantastic French cafe - Cafe de la Presse on Bush Street 5 minutes away and The Last Drop Tavern on Powel had great cocktails and pub food. We parked round the corner at 450 Sutter street- best parking in the area for safety plus the Art Deco entrance is amazing.

The noise from the street below was non stop. All night long. Every 15 seconds a loud whooshing sound shakes the room. On the positive side, Lily, the restaurant hostess, made sure I had my special diet breakfast every morning. This kindness made up for the noise of the room. THANK YOU LILY!!!

This hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful. The beds were comfortable. I have zero complaints. Around the corner you cane easily catch a cable car, alot of restaurants and bar options within minutes walk. Highly recommend and if i come back this definitely is the place i would stay again.

I have only good things to say about the Orchard Hotel! AWESOME! We stayed for 5 nights. All of the staff was warm and welcoming. We had our own room and our family member had their room. Both rooms were so nice and welcoming. They were spacious with a king bed that was super comfortable!! The bedding looks like it’s pressed.Fancy. The bathroom was spacious. But most importantly to me: the rooms were so CLEAN, COMFY and QUIET! The location is great too! It was 2 blocks from Dragon Gate. We also noticed the lobby was not crazy busy like other hotels can be and we never waited on the elevator. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Orchard Hotel!

The coffee maker in our room didn’t work, the staff were aware, but it wasn’t replaced. The restaurant was only open for breakfast. There was no bar.

Bathroom is not nice. Toilet wouldn't flush, shower wouldn't drain. Room is noisy. Hotel is old and dated. This should have been rated way lower on hotels.com.

Had a very easy check in process. Room was large and very clean. It’s an older hotel but well maintained. Room was quiet and I slept well. Would stay again.

I was in Room 305, kind of noisy alley. I would recommend a higher floor.

Underwhelming

Well located and friendly, helpful desk staff. Comfortable bed and good size room. Noisy due to proximity to elevator and busy lane way. Very poor shower water pressure. Housekeeping began knocking at 0830 and continued until I finally went to the door and said it was too early for me. Housekeeping did not return for the duration of the multi night stay.

Cute, clean hotel. Swas extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean. The bed was so comfy. I took pictures of the pillow tags because I want them for my home! The hotel is very close to union station and the tour bus stop. The trolly stops the corner of the hotel. My husband and I fell in love with this hotel and will definitely stay here again! Thank you to Collin, at the front desk, for all your help and making our stay amazing!

Decent hotel in a great location

This hotel doesn’t present well from outside and in the lobby but the rooms are clean and comfortable (albeit a bit dated - bathrooms looked more recently renovated. Location of hotel is great, good dining options around the hotel. There is a decent hill near the hotel which was fine for me but that applies in a lot of San Francisco locations. Main problem is the plumbing which woke me up twice on night one due to rooms around me taking showers at 3am and 4.15am. Otherwise room was very quiet for the rest of my stay.
