Unique building and rooms. Grounds are lovely. Bed was very firm. Breakfast was good but no other dining options on property and minimal restaurants nearby.

Impressive on approach. Tiny room and bathroom. Very basic, but clean. Comfortable bed with clean bedding. Ceiling caving in. Shower old and sprayed everywhere with limited pressure. Breakfast good. Friendly helpful staff. Limited wifi esp during load shedding.

The property was exactly as advertised. Just what I needed for a quick overnight

Great place to stay! Well kept, quiet, and safe. We didn't get to enjoy the facilities as planned due to our flights being changed by the airlines. We arrived much later in the evening than originally planned. Tirsa and staff were very accommodating. I will definitely stay here again when in Johannesburg.

You get what you pay

Loved the back yard sitting area. Had supper and drinks out there which were very good and a good price. Pool was cold and not clean and no chairs to sit out by the pool. All in all though, excellent stay for the price!

Close to Joburg airport, lovely peaceful garden and friendly staff. Clean and comfortacle accommodation but could do with an update as all a bit old fashioned.

Great Guest House

Wonderful, convenient guest house close to main airport and transfers for FedAir. Owner and staff certainly go the extra mile to make you feel special.

Very nice, homely place. Our room was very spacious, included nice shower, Jacuzzi, and bathroom. Breakfast was included, and it was very tasty. Airport transportation is not included but can arrange at a cost. Staff very helpful and accommodating. It was very nice that it included a remote that unlocked the gates which was helpful when we got back at nights from our tours. Would recommend and stay again.

small, crawling with ants and not what was picture

The pictures were beautiful and the main house/building is where those pictures were taken. However the room we were given was a detached annex of the main building and the room was incredibly small and outdated and the bathroom was crawling with TONS of ants.

Recommended

Great value for money and so close to the airport. Our flight was delayed and we couldn’t get hold of the driver Gordon - he ended up waiting at the airport for us which was very nice of him. We had a great stay, the room was comfortable and clean. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. We stayed in room 10 - which was an outside room next to the kitchen. It was a bit noisy as it was right next to the kitchen busy prepping for breakfast. Great breakfast buffet and lovely tranquil garden with a pool too. We will definitely be staying there again.

No air conditioning. The shower went for fromhot to cold to hot to cold. The back of the property is not in good shape ( under costruction) But has potential. It needs some investment

Great value for money, room was clean and tidy with all that is needed for an over night stay. The toilet water kept flowing though.

Business trip

Staff was very friendly and very quick to answer our query. The wifi was not working and we did tell the lady at the reception just before we went out for dinner. There were strait on it. When the office was closed but when we got to the room we could find a note with new wifi code and it was working. We have been a bit disappointed about the room, though it was ok, but it was not really looking as nice as the pictures we saw on the website.

The rooms were small, but clean and all the public areas were amazing! This is a great place to stay!

Good stay

Charming old house in the countryside

This is a lovely old house converted into a very nice B&B. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and although it was extremely difficult to locate once there it was a short drive to a shopping center with many restaurants. The room was very comfortable and the bathtub in my room was a very nice and relaxing touch. The breakfast was excellent with many choices in the buffet and very nicely presented. I would certainly recommend it to anyone with a car wanting a very traditional experience.

Great stay at Malandela Manor

Great stay! Lovely hosts who are very friendly and accommodating. Malandela Guest Manor is located about a 15 min drive to/from Tambo International airport, so it is convenient place to stay if you have long layovers or need a relaxing place to unwind after a long flight.

Fantastic and memorable stay

My husband and I and two friends had a wonderful one night stay at this beautiful guest house.It has a sprawling garden, a good size swimming pool, a huge living room and nice dining room which extends to the outdoor. The couple who runs it are very friendly and hospitable. His wife even drove us out for dinner. The morning breakfast which was included in the room charge was simply delicious. The kitchen staff was friendly and generous with the servings. We really enjoyed our stay there. Thumbs up for Malandela!!

Great place to unwind and relax.

Staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating, providing amazing shuttle service at a very reasonable rate. Manor house is located close to the airport, which is handy, however there is not a lot in the surrounding area within walking distance. The owners are more than happy to provide suggestions on how one can order food and get around the city, which I enjoyed.

Great stay.

Was an overnight stay for myself and two colleagues. Facilities were comfortable and impressive. Was a bit strange to have the bath and shower open-plan - no privacy, but it was only for a night! Friendly service, very comfortable and great rates.

We had a relaxing stay

You will be greeted by two of the cutest dogs when you check in. The hotel is like a bed a breakfast except the house is more like a mansion. The hotel and grounds are beautiful with colorful flowers and other foliage. The personnel were extremely hospitable and they drove us to the supermarket to get some medicine for my friends who had acquired travelers illness before we arrived. They wouldn't accept any money for their troubles! The complimentary breakfast was delicious and the staff supplied top notch service while we dined and throughout our trip. An added bonus were the pool and Foosball tables! They also offer an airport shuttle for R100, regardless of the number of people who are being transported. It is 20 minutes away from the airport which was really convenient.

Quiet, restful hotel for business or relaxation

The hotel is fine for a night or two. The rooms had everything one would really need. A table and some chairs would have been helpful as there was no place to work on a laptop, or place one's things. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. If on business, there are plenty of facilities inside and outside where one can sit, meet, relax and eat or drink

freezing stay

The staff was very friendly, the room was clean & neat but the geyser was probably faulty as we only had two minutes of hot water before it turned ice cold. The wall panel heater was not effective at all ... having been there in the middle of winte. . We froze.

False advertising

This was one of the worst places I have ever stayed in. I think the back packers would have had higher standards. The beds were lumpy and old, the linen was dirty, dusty and look like it was not changed in years. The room was freezing and the heater provided did not even change the temperature in the room by 2 degrees. The hot water in the shower got cold after 5mins so you can imagine freezing cold outside you go to your freezing room to have a hot shower which becomes cold so you run out back to the freezing room into the dirty, dusty bed. Breakfast was a joke and the coffee was just bitter brown water. If you looking for a booth camp give this pathetic excuse for a hotel a try. They are nothing close to 4 star and none of the pictures on the web actually match the real place.

Disappointed

The mattresses were very uncomfortable and old. The shower water became cold after 5min of shower. 2nd person showerd cold!! The bathroom weren't very clean. The hotel manager's kids sat smoking bubbly 8h in their Pj's at the entrance to the reception??? Really!! The place has so much potential. The setting is lovely. Management needs to be rethinked.

DISSAPOINTED

We were told that we would get a double room and the pictures on the website is NOTHING compared to what the actual place looked like. I will not recommend this place to anyone. The two single beds that we did have was so uncomfrotable and the room was very cold even after switching the wall heater on. There was hot water for not even one person to finish showering. Overall this was a bad expierence.

Convenient access to airport and major through roads. Was out and about most days so mainly used for sleeping. Safe. Friendly staff.

Great place to stay in Joburg

We had a great stay. Marina and Danie were so accomadating from the time we arrived. They are very willing to help wit reservations, scheduling tours, and running shuttle if needed. Food was great and the owners were friendly and personable.

The Only Place For Me in Johannesburg

I recently completed my 4th stay at the Malandela, and that might be enough information for you to know how much at home I feel every time I am there. I initially stayed there for two nights after first arriving in South Africa for the first time in my life. I hoped I chose a safe and welcoming environment, and what I discovered was a place I could call home. The owners (Danie and Marina) went out of their way to provide all comforts I needed, including important information and advice for the area...what to see...where to go. Any special service, ranging from an airport transfer to a bottle of wine, was provided at a most reasonable rate and excellent quality. The rooms are well maintained and comparable to what you would expect in a 4 or 5 star property. As I traveled back to Johannesburg from side trips to neighboring countries, I knew exactly where to stay, and did it four times.

Little Haven near the airport

This place is amazing.. Its a home away from home. It gives you that warm lush feeling inside, I came to Joburg for a Graduation Ceremory with the family but decided to stay an extra two days to ease my connection for my onward travels. So searched the net for places to stay near the airport, and came across this little gem.. I can honestly say having spent 3 nights in a five star before hand, I was bracing myself..So my story goes, my cab from the airport got lost as the driver said he wasn't familiar with the area(I was like dude really??), So I phoned Malandela and they offered to pick me up. And that was the start of my amazing stay, my room was lovely, the gardens are gorgeous and my room was closest to the pool( any excuse to take a dip). They took me to the shops, offered advise were to get the best deals, lifts to and from the station..I could go on for days . Hats off to Don and Marina, you have a lovely Guest manor, I felt so at home, it was like staying with my Aunt and Uncle.. Ill most definitely be coming back!!

Too far

This is not a hotel but a personal house converted to a form of bed and breakfast. We ended up leaving the moment we got there because it was too deserted and felt unsafe. So we simply lost the money paid because it wasn't refunded. Would not recommend this for anybody.

Noche de paso. Barrio de poca seguridad. Llegamos 15’ después del cierre de recepción, sin comida ni atención para solicitar delivery. Hotel antiguo. Limpio en sus camas y baños pero no más que un hotel de paso.no lo recomiendo más que para eso. Desayuno básico. Cereales humedecidos.
