This was a lovely place to stay. I stayed in one of the private “go rooms”, which was like a private room made from a trailer on wheels. It was surprisingly cozy! I liked how there were sufficient share facilities and a large kitchen/dining area. The place was centrally located in town, making it easy to walk down to the park to go look for platypus. I’d recommend it.

I won't stay here again. Just a bed and shelves. Threed steps down and walk to outside toilet and shower room, very difficult at night. Very small hand basin, can not properly brush teeth or wash face.

Really nice hostel in Yungaburra, and the night canoe was a fun experience. I’m only docking a star because our Expedia reservation that we paid in advance was nowhere in their system, and we only got a room (that we booked months beforehand) because there happened to be availability. This worked out fine for us in the end, but the hotel needs to work this out to avoid issues in future. Expedia also says the check in time is 4pm when it’s actually 2pm, so there is some disconnect here. Other than that, we’d stay here again!

I enjoyed my three nights at On the Wallaby because of the nice peeps and the quiet area it was in. It was clise to where I had to be. Bed was comfortable.

After multiple stays, it gets better each time. It's a very welcoming and home-like atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice and the location is really convenient. The amenities are great too and it very nice to meet fellow travellers.

A great hostel in a lovely town

Had a good stay at On The Wallaby. It's a well established hostel in a quaint country town. Good kitchen facilities and our room was comfortable. Possibly the best shower in a hostel I've ever experienced. There's parking opposite the hostel on the grass outside. Be aware there's limited reception hours, so plan your arrival appropriately.

Very friendly, comfortable stay. Comfy bed, great communal spaces, including a fire pit out the back … well located to all Yungaburra and surrounds has to offer… I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a comfy, friendly base in the area

Monica is a great host. Helpful, friendly and keeps the place very clean. I’m of an older generation and felt very comfortable. Great for families too. Would recommend.

I've stayed @ on the Wallaby twice and will continue to do so when in the area again. It's a beautiful Queenslander. Odd to say, but I really like the bathroom area. Slate floor and walls mixed with timber and the added decor, it's a really cool area. The kitchen has just about every utensil, pot, pan etc you could need to prepare and cook all meals. The garden and communal areas are really comfortable to hang out in. Loved filling my drink/water bottles up each day from the magical water tap!

My husband and I are over 70 but we were treated with warmth and friendliness from the youngsters staying here. The facilities are exciting, innovative and immaculate and Monica is just lovely. She made sure we had everything we needed and as though that wasn’t enough, she whipped up a delicious batch of pumpkin scones. Just great

Hostel is well set up, well organised, eco friendly and clean. Diverse clientele - international and Australian, babies and more experienced travellers.

Great Eco Lodge

Perfect hostel for a budget backpacker in the Tablelands. The hostel is clean and very well laid out with a big shared kitchen. Book exchange as well as board games in the common room as well as free tea and coffee. Staff are friendly and always on hand. Highly recommend.

A cheap and cheerful Hostel in Yungaburra centre. The room was ok but not made how we ordered it and the bedding smelt a little damp.

We had a double bed private room, although the hostel was very quiet during our stay with only a couple others staying in the shared rooms. The was very clean and provided everything we needed during our stay. Would recommend.

Family style hostel catering for older couples (us!), as well as various independant travellers and a bus load of young people at the same time. Our room was secure, private and clean, shared cooking and bathroom facilities as expected. We chose to join in the Aussie BBQ for dinner, reasonable value for money, but could easily have walked to one of several local eateries. The highlight for us was walking quietly along the stream at dusk as we had a good view of several platypus in the wild. We sort of viewed a tree kangaro - more as a brownish blob in the high trees. Had a much better view of the tree kangaroo at the Tea Planation the next day. We were impressed with the variety of activities and equipment on offer for the energetic. Definitely recommend On the Wallaby

On The Wallaby is absolutely fantastic! Maree is an absolutely gem and she goes above and beyond for all the guests. Mum and I decided to spend another night and Tracey moved everything around so that could be possible and we could stay in the same room. Mum was super stoked on that! The lodge is beautiful and super clean. What I loved the most was their dedication to being green. They're doing it all right. My mum has never done hostels before and she loved it there. It was her favorite of the entire trip, and that says a lot! Thanks again to the entire team for everything.

We loved this place. It was superclean and a great kitchen with everything you could need for a good meal. Big fridges and cupboards to keep your goods safe and cold. Lots of games, big washing machines, good vibes, great staff.
