The OLYMPIC HOUSE HOTEL staff are considerate, caring, friendly and efficient. If l had an award to give it would be to this hotel..Staying in hotels for 70 years ,this has to be the overall best for service cleanliness and comfort. Not to mention value. Free use of ironing facilities.no extras
Property was nice and tidy but the bedding quality could have been cleaner and better. The fabric was poor quality and caused irritation on the skin when sleeping. The property is convenient to access, had Wi-Fi and staff were very pleasant and polite.
Easy checkin, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast.
nice and clean, friendly staff.
Very convenient location.
Going solo
The hotel was in such a convenient location and the staff was very helpful with directions. The room was comfortable and very clean. Perfect for a solo traveler
A great little hotel very conveniently located within a couple of minutes of Paddington station. As this was our first visit and being unsure about what a three star hotel would be like we weren’t expecting too much. So we were very pleasantly surprised by the high standards. Our room was small but perfectly adequate, very comfortable and exceptionally clean with a great sized bathroom. No tea making facilities in the room but free teas and coffee in the reception area. Breakfast was included. Not a huge selection on offer but very adequate and the ladies serving drinks and toast were all very efficient and friendly. I would stay again as it was very good value for money.
Very clean hotel. Staff available 24/7 and very helpful . Room clean and nice new bathroom . Bed was quite firm but ok for an overnight stop .
A budget stay but the hotel is class act.
This is a budget hotel in London. Don't expect a large room with 5 star services. However the room was clean, the bed comfortable, with a clean bathroom in the room. A continental breakfast is included in the price, and there was a good working elevator. I'd stay here again.
It was okay the bedroom small but clean the breakfast room a bit busy could not get a table had to wait for about 10 minutes and then we had to share the table but it was near the tube and rail station overall it was okay
Family ran property and it was incredible.
Could be better
The hotel is close to Paddington station. The breakfast staff was very efficient and professional. Very polite. Attention to detail. I asked for extra hot water for my tea on day one, for the rest of my stay, I got a larger tea pot. The price was very reasonable. Room is clean. The house keeping looked into the room everyday that I stayed there. I definitely would come back to Olympic House. Thank their staff for their services.
To be avoided at all costs.
Truly dreadful hotel. No 24 hour heating in -2 London! Rooms cold drab, all basement rooms to be avoided as no carpet on stair or floors. So noisy with breakfast room in that area. No tea or coffee in rooms. Surley unhelpful staff.
Average Stay
The room was clean but was alot smaller than expected. The bed however was super uncomfortable and could really do with a new mattress. When I sat on it, it was so soft I ended up sitting on the base. The blanket on the bed also looked it had been around a long time.
The rooms were on the smaller side, but always very clean. Very nice neighborhood, right next to Hyde Park and to different underground stations.
Straight forward and clean old school hotel. Well priced for a Saturday booking.
Good for a 1 nights stay
Got there a bit late due to my train being delayed. There was no tea and coffee in the room ( not been to a hotel in the UK where there is no tea and coffee in the rooms). The bedroom was really clean, just right for a solo person for one or two nights. Nice heater and the bathroom done to a very standard, however a bit on the small side. Bed was very comfortable with a nice big thick duvet.
Tiny and tidy.
Extremely clean. Simple solid breakfast. Polite helpful staff
.
The area around the hotel is ok, walking distance to the tube. The staff was kind, but the room was extremely small, I hardly had enough space to place my carry-on luggage next to the bed.
Close to Paddington Station
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Paddington and that, like many of the hotels in this area,is probably is best feature. I had a four person room (only room available). As a solo traveller I felt cramped, I struggle to see four people with any luggage in this room. It was a very small ensuite with a shower cubicle. Breakfast was included. It was continental only. There is limited seating all set us as four person tables (about 6 or 7 altogether). When the tables were occupied the staff directed people waiting to fill up those tables. It was all a bit awkward. Getting toast, which is done by the staff is a bit hit or miss so you may need to chase them, be prepared, they really don't care! Not somewhere I would recommend, if you can afford to stay elsewhere.
I didn’t enjoy my stay at the Olympic House Hotel. I was injured on my way to the airport. I arrived late that evening and looked forward to taking it easy for a few days. When I entered my room at 10:00 p.m. the window was wide open and cold. There was a smell coming from the bathroom which was 3 feet from the bed. There were no towels in the room. I called and asked for towels and was questioned about looking for the towels. I explained it was cold in the room. I was never offered an additional blanket. The spread was stiff and didn’t look like it was washed often. I was always cold and I found that hotel sad and depressing. Cold and disappointed, I called Expedia and told them I didn’t want to stay there. I was informed that management refused to give me a refund. I spoke to the “manager “ the next day, who was argumentative, unsympathetic, and condescending. I have stayed in small hotels before. I have never had a “manager “ or employee speak to me in this manner. I could elaborate more. I checked out 5 days early and went to a much nicer hotel down the street. I’m giving this place two stars instead of one star, for two reasons. It is close to the Paddington station and the evening front desk clerk was incredibly kind, sympathetic, and compassionate. I limped down the street to my new hotel. I have stayed in many hotels in my lifetime. This is the first time I have ever had a situation like this. Thank you Expedia, for the partial refund.
Lovely hotel and breakfast with excellent staff
Good location for trip
A nice hotel, well presented, clean and in good condition. It’s a relatively quiet, comfortable, solid hotel, with (mostly) friendly staff, and in an excellent location.
Perfect for solo travelling
The room was clean by the maid every day and the location of the hotel is prime. Lucky now that I got the room there. The night staff is welcoming
The property is very clean and rooms are clean, and we found the property managers to be helpful and professional.
Hotel was clean, quiet, had friendly staff and I would highly recommend staying here.
Nice budget Hotel
Work trip. Have stayed at lots of hotels in the same area, and this is one I would definitely return to. Booked single room, which was nice and clean. Had desk and cupboard. The bathroom was small but fully functional. The hotel has a lift and included breakfast in the morning. Hotel does have ironing facilities but you have to use it in the basement area.
A Budget stay
This was very much a budget hotel. There was one pillow on the bed, the towel provided was very thin as was the lavatory paper, with one small bar of soap in the bathroom. There were no tea/coffee making facilities and no written guidance that there was a tea/coffee machine at reception. Some written information in the bedroom would have been helpful. Breakfast was unexciting and the furniture in the breakfast room seemed to be too big and chunky, so that it appeared cramped. ON a positive note, I was able to sleep with the window open, as the room was around the back of the building and, for London, was very quiet.
They expect you to pay £5 an hour for air-conditioning, The bed is from the dark ages Very uncomfortable, no tea or coffee, making facilities in the room, On the upside very clean and friendly staff
The property was close and convenient to Paddington Station… it is just around the corner and one block away! So convenient! There are many wonderful restaurants and pubs nearby as well. The only issue we had was the electric outlets in our room… actually the whole hotel. It kept blowing fuses. At first we thought we “fried” our converter, which I needed for my cPaP machine. I ordered another via Amazon. Only to find out that it was the outlets! Finally found one outlet in our room that “worked”, when we wiggled it! Be warned.
.
likes: close proximity city center, bus, trains dislikes: rooms has no AC & didnt provide fan, somewhat tight space
I enjoyed my stay. Perfect for a solo traveller.
Excellent Value!
Have stayed a few times previously! Excellent, courteous and accommodating service throughout my stay. Single room was impeccably clean and tidy, well appointed with a very comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom, which was of a good size with a strong running shower and was exceptionally clean. Great value for money, for me a superb location and the owners I find to be very friendly and helpful. I'll be back again very soon.
Cheap but not so cheerful.
The room was small and the bathroom was tiny. No a lot of space to dry yourself after a shower. Water was a trickle in the shower with the temperature constantly changing. The breakfast was poor. Bland cereals and toast. No fruit offered. Best to go and by a coffee and croissant in one of the nearby cafes. The staff were efficient and friendly.Close to tube and restaurants.
Overall a nice hotel for the price very handy to the bars and shops would stay again.
Very nice room!! Friendly staff!! Good food choices within a couple of blocks!! Walking distance to Paddington Train station, even with luggage. Great location
Pleasant stay
Comfortable and good value.
My second stay there. Price and the proximity to paddington station is a real bonus
The staff are friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was good. The room was a bit dated and smal, but clean. The area is great. Paddington Station is a 5 minute walk; Hyde Park is a 10 minute walk; and Marble Arch Staion is about a 15 minute walk. The neighborhood between the hotel and Hyde Park is great. The area around Paddington Station has lots of affordable dining.
Very clean, but dated. Bathrooms were updated. Lift was nice. We are on the 3rd floor and it was unbearably hot. After the first night we offered to pay extra to have the AC turned on, they turned it on just enough to cool it down but only for a short time. Breakfast was simple but nice. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location, in a row of other hotels in the same building. Great value for the price. Beds were not great, but so exhausted and hot that didn’t bother me.
Solid Basic place to stay. Super convenient, safe. Staff was reasonably helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but quiet and convenient to all transportation, dining and Hyde Park.
Olympic House Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station, so very convenient for getting around town. Rooms are generally small in the Sussex Gardens area, but Olympic House rooms have all you need. Mine was clean and the bed was comfy. I was told that air con is not available until June (!), which made my stay during a hot May a little less comfortable but it wasn't too noisy with the window open. Breakfasts are very basic, and (sorry to say) but the coffee, juice, bread, cheese and pastries were all cheapest quality, so not very tasty. Staff were all very pleasant though. Overall, a good budget B B. I have stayed before and will stay again.
ONE STAR HOTEL. LOTS OF BETTER CHOICES AROUND. The room is very small, like a cage. No tee/coffee in the room, so you have to go downstairs for a cup of bad quality tea. The aircon has been disabled. There is a labele on it saying contact reception for activation. When I asked reception to activate it, they said we have not started it yetand and I can talk to the manager in the morning if I want. If I open the window, it's too noisy, and mosquitos come in. The bed is very low quality and uncomfortable. Woollen blanket with no duvet, feels not clean, I'm already itching. It's no surprise if I find mite, lice, or something similar. It feels very bad, really. There is no shampoo and shower gel, I had to ask for it, and they said, "Come downstairs and get it! Finally, they brought it to my room, and this is what I got(photo) I paid £120 for this room. I could have booked a room in a much better hotel with the same price, in the same area. Breakfast, like any other thing in this hotel, was bare minimum and cheapest possible quality/material. The only good thing about this hotel I the location, for me. This is my first and last stay in this hotel.
The room was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. The location was close to restaurants, and the park and very close to transportation via trains or the tube. The breakfast was average but convenient. The only issues we had were that the room heated up during the day and we had to sleep with the windows open however the whole area was pretty noisy with traffic and emergency vehicles. This really didn't affect us much though and wouldn't stop us from staying again.
Nice hotel in convenient location.
Nice hotel with great staff. Breakfast is good, we just wished it started a little earlier like 6:30,or 7am. We had to miss it a few times because we had trains or tours to get and it really would have been nice to have a cup of coffee before running out for the day.Location is good and convenient.
Great Potential
Potential to be great. Great location and very convenient Underground and train connections. Nice variety of restaurants in the neighborhood. I have been to similar hotels in London and am aware of the very small room and bed sizes but the mattress in this one definitely needs to be replaced or better yet upgraded. I am very tall and am used to my feet hanging off the bed, but unfortunately we could feel all the springs in the mattress because there was absolutely no padding. Staff were great and breakfast was typical and good. We only wished they opened the breakfast a little earlier, maybe 6:30 or 7am so we could at least get a cup of coffee. We had to miss it a few times because we had early daytrips/trains to catch.
Quiet and Clean place !
Hotels alright could just do with a bit of modernisation
I've stayed here before. Rooms are small but the property is very nice and clean. I would stay there again. Bring your own shampoo as they only provide bar soap.
No duvet on the bed, only a sheet with a fleece blanket and a cover over the top which cant be easy to clean properly so felt this had much more potential to be dirty. Bed and pillows really uncomfortable. TV didnt work
Great location & friendly staff
My son and I stayed here, and it was great! The room was clean and accommodations were as expected (small room with two single beds). The staff was helpful and very friendly. When we checked in, we received a map and went over options near by and ways to get around town. The location is fantastic as the Paddington underground station is very near. There are plenty of places to eat in the area. It is easy to get to and from the airport. The breakfast each morning is simple and the same, but it works.
Located in a row of terraced hotels very close to Paddington Station just north of Hyde Park - great location and very convenient to use the Tube. My room was very small, but worked well for the purpose of my trip to London. Room and bathroom were clean, just very small, which I made work. Would stay here again.
I had a pleasant stay at Olympic House Hotel. The room was clean and suited my needs. It is located very near Paddington Underground Station which was very convenient for getting around London. I appreciated that breakfast was included. The breakfast serving staff was especially friendly and kind.
The only thing I didn’t like about this property is the lack of tea facilities in the bedrooms. I realise that other hotel around the area are doing the same thing… make a cuppa tea down in the foray… but I miss being able to make a cuppa when I first wake up and be able to climb back into bed with it. The same at night have a cuppa and a biscuit for one’s supper and not have to hike down stair for it.
As a solo business traveller this was a perfect stay for me - room was clean and cosy. Perfect for Paddington and transport into Central London. Stayed for two nights and would go again.
Nice and Clean, it was a pleasant stay
Lovely stay but breakfast needa improvement
Hotel location was lovely, in a very nice area of paddington just abstone throw away from Kensington Gardens. Service on arrival was great, very friendly staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. The tele was really small and so far away you couldnt even see it, but we only had it on for 20 minutes to unwind in our room at the end of the day so didnt matter too much. As we were on the lower level, our window was a view of the corridor to the breakfast room so it wasnt very private at all. The breakfast was the only real let down of our stay, very limited options - 2 x cereals, toast, 1 ham and 1 cheese and some pain au chocolats. The orange juice was really watered down, and there was no fresh fruit. The room breakfast was held on was also really small and over crowded for the amount of guests. I would stay here again but the breakfaat really needs inprovement.
Pleasant stay, room was small but no issues!
Great place and location.
Horrible staff argued for 10 minutes about giving me 1 extra towel. Beds and pillows are hard as a rock. Room was the tiniest I've ever stayed in. Walls were so thin I could hear my neighbor every time they used the toilet! Breakfast was nothing more than toast, boiled eggs, and cereal.
I didn't like the reception service.
The room was very small. Had my wife been with me, she would have been displeased with that.
The room is clean and comfortable! Front desk staff are helpful. The only complain I have is the breakfast. Not enough tables or chairs. The food, not many choices.
Fine for a short stay
I stayed for just one night on my own and it was totally fine. The room was very small but this didn’t bother me. The bathroom was very clean. Basic but ok. Good location as Paddington station just a 5 minute walk away. Staff on reception and in the breakfast room were friendly.
The staff, breakfasts, and location are very good. The room is small, as expected for London, but was very satisfactory for our 3 night stay. I would consider staying there again.
Basement room, not ideal
Good value for the price but no tea/coffee facility
This hotel was a 5 minute walk to Paddington Station. Simple breakfast in the morning that filled us up, and a nice eating area. Room was all that we needed to have a wonderful trip.
Perfectly fine if you just need a place to sleep. No AC in my room; breakfast was absolutely not worth it either.
Good value for money, nice breakfast. Basic but convenient facilities. beds a bit short than common.
Excellent location, just a block to Paddington and thus 20 mins to LHR. However, our stay was marred by the housekeeping staff assembling daily at 7am outside our room in the windowed basement…shouted instructions, laughter, banging of bins, sloshing of buckets.
Review
Was good setvice basic breakfast but was really tasty
They don’t tell you in the amenities that you have to pay 10 lbs per night for the air conditioning. There isn’t even a fan provided.
Clean and small! Perfect if you don’t plan to stay inside all day. Good free breakfast too
The positives: close to Paddington station, close to Hyde Park, many dining options within walking distance. The negatives: They have air-conditioning, but charge an extra 10 pounds per day and only accept cash (not credit card). The staff was very difficult to deal with, especially wanting to pay cash every day for the air-conditioning and this in June where every day was above 80F and the rooms became like a sauna. The rooms are also quite small, not much space for more than 2 people. If the fire alarm goes off, then the boiler shuts off and someone must come to turn it back on. So if this occurs, don't expect hot water for awhile.
Try harder, be better
Double bed seemed small. I’m 5’9” and my feet hung off the end of the bed a good 4-5” . Breakfast consists of bare minimum items (coffee, toast, hard boiled eggs, mass produced danishes). AC didn’t work. Bathroom door couldn’t be opened the whole way because it hit the bed. Room was tiny. The room was clean, the hotel was clean, the area was quiet. We basically just sleep there and are out doing activities all day and late into the night. It’s just a bit frustrating because everything could have been great but it feels like they are doing the very bare minimum. Trying to squeeze every bit of profit out of each stay. I get it but I will not be back. Staff was nice, including the breakfast room folks.
Great location, super small room for 4
Advertised had air conditioning but was told by staff that not available. Staff were very off hand and unprofessional. Area at front of hotel had a lot of rubbish.
Our Stay
The location was excellent. The bed was very small and uncomfortable. Breakfast was average. Considering London prices we got what we paid for. Staff were pleasant!
Disgusting
Top quilts were filthy. No AC, one window that opened 3 inches with no screen. 10 x 8 cell of a room. Wifi was absolutely horrible. Overpriced. Do not recommend. Would not give them my money again.
In an area with a lot of hotels and very close to both the Tube station and the train station. Staff were very nice and the breakfast was better than I expected
Happy Days.
From arrival to departure (2 night stay) everything was perfect. Room clean, bed very comfortable. Breakfast good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Shops etc, a short walk from the hotel. As a lone traveller ideal for and good value.
The staff was very pleasant and the room was cleaned every day. The elevator was very handy and the halls and stairways were lovely. The breakfast was very plain and the room was stuffy. We had to open the window and crack open the door to get some air flow. When asked to turn on the air conditioning, they said they couldn't because it wasn't the the season.
local, comfortable and friendly
Weekend stay in London
Nice location exceptionally clean and well maintained. Rooms are compact, only negative is no ability to make hot drinks in room
This hotel is ideal for visitors to London and I would definitely stay here again. It is a very short walk to Paddington station and many restaurants. The room was not large but had everything we needed including a very compact ensuite bathroom. The hotel was clean and quiet. It's very good value with breakfast included, although we had to wait for breakfast a couple of times due to the limited number of tables.
Convenient location in London, just a short walk away from Paddington station. The room and toilets were cleaned every day. The complimentary breakfast was good with tea/coffee, toast or cereal. The ladies at the eating hall were very friendly.
Staff were very friendly and efficient. They went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The hotel is also close to Hyde Park and Paddington Station..underground and rail. Its a great location.
Great location, very close to Paddington Station (underground and trains) and dining places. The bedroom was tiny, with little room to open the suitcase or leave things in the bathroom (which had a super small shower). However, the staff was friendly and the place was very clean.
A no frills hotel, but all perfectly clean, comfortable and convenient with friendly staff, and suited our budget. Certainly would be happy to return.
My Husband and I were very happy with this little hotel. A five minute walk from Paddington Station with the Underground more or less opposite the station. The area is quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Although no tea and coffee facilities in the room, you could get one from the bar area free of charge as and when you wanted one. Breakfast included. We would definitely use this hotel again.
Great service great location great establishment! One feedback is maybe add toothpaste into amenities.
Convenient location
Easy to find and check in. Was able to drop Bags off early.

Great Hotel near Paddington.
