Location on8
The breakfast buffet gave us a good start to our days touring and the bar was good for a wind down beverage in the evenings. The hotel is walking distance from a few restaurants and is close to the Damascus Gate. The location was a convenient start to our daily touring. It could use a little updating. Overall, a good place to stay.
So it was not as nice as I thought it would be. It was clean but old looking the bed was hard and it was hot in the room. Breakfast which is free is a huge selection, food was ok. I dont think its in a easy location to get around Jerusalem without having to drive your car which is not safe to do. We got there late and stayed one night but to me it seemed to not be in a good location to get around with a bus or train.
King bed was made of two single beds which was inconvenient.
Constructive criticism
The only thing is the lack of variety at the bar menu. A guest should be able to order from the restaurant menu if he or she wants to eat at the bar area. We had to fight to get anchovies in our pizza. Indicating no flexibility even though they have them available if you order a Caesar salad
Not to friendly. Not clean.
It was a great hotel with a fantastic breakfast! My only gripe is that the pull out couch was not very comfortable. It would have been better to have a room with two proper beds in it. Other than that, it was good!
Beautiful hotel
Great hotel, location and service.
Overall property was well maintained. The reception and dinning hall are great but the rooms could use a little bit of updating.
The room and common spaces were clean and well kept. The food in the restaurant was always excellent and plentiful. The staff was attentive to our needs and friendly.
An amazing hotel to get away and enjoy the best of Jerusalem hospitality. We really like the Olive Tree and the staff.
Nice hotel for tours, not so for family travel
The hotel is very nice with a comfortable, well-equipped room and an excellent breakfast. Unfortunately, the staff at the front desk are in dire need of customer service training as i experienced some unprofessional and discourteous conduct. The location is in East Jerusalem and I don't think that it is convenient for walking to Ben Yehuda Street/Machane Yehuda or the old city. However, if you have a bus or a taxi, or you are comfortable with public transportation such as the train, it is fine.
The breakfast offered the vast choices that are often available in Israel, although it could be a bit hit and miss. The room was slightly tired but comfortable. The location near the Damascus Gate was unbeatable.
If this is the case, that's fine.
Staff was helpful
Shirt but sweet stay.
They gave us a beautiful spacious room on the top floor with terrace. Gorgeous hotel, easy to get to the old city.
Bar staff was excellent
.
The property is a bit old.
We stayed at the Olive Tree for four nights and were very satisfied with the cleaning staff, the breakfast (and staff) and the location.
Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and diner very good. Reception's service was very kind.
Very good hotel ! We stayed for one night , the service was amazing , very nice staff. The room is gorgeous , very clean and cozy. The location is very good , 10 min top to the center. There is an underground parking which made the stay more comfortable since there is a problem with parking in Jerusalem. Over all- we recommend !
The breakfast and dinner selection was wonderful. Some of the bathroom fixtures were old and a little rusty
the room i got had dirty, sticky, old carpets. i am usually barefoot in hotel rooms to avoid getting the room dirty but in this room, i needed to wear my sandals. The bedsheets ft salty and uncomfortable. Last but not least,b the breakfast buffet manager was simply disgusting. He walked around coughing near the food. DON'T STAY HERE. The front staff must be in cahoot with the taxi drivers to scam tourists if going to Bethlehem. The front staff ladies were not friendly at all.
Very good. Nice walking distance to the Old City. Would definitely stay there again.
The staff on the last check out today was bad! I requested a taxi before eating breakfast and he said after we eat and so after eating breakfast with my two kids we went back to asked for a taxi suddenly he said no taxi and we have a tour to catch up. So disappointed we have to run outside and look for a taxi In bad rainy condition with my two kids. Bad service!!!!!!!!!
very professional and friendly service, with excellent room and amenities
Not great hotel but great location because it’s walking distance to a lot of attractions.
Have not stayed in this hotel since 2 years, when i was happy with all the hotel conditions. This time me and my family were extremely unhappy with the room condition. Room not clean, rust on the bath tub and on the ceiling in the bath room
I love the attitude and carisma from the people at the hotel really please thank you for choosing me that hotel
A great place to stay.
This hotel is an oasis of relaxed calm and pleasant surroundings that is welcome after a day of exploring Jerusalem. The lounge is delightful and the service excellent. The Olive Tree has that special ambience that welcomes you back.
Great place to stay in Jerisalem
The Olive Tree Hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. I have visited 40 countries so I have stayed at quite a few. The ambience of the public areas, particularly the loung area, is excellent. Despite a problem with my reservation which was not the hotels fault, the receptionist went to great lengths to sort things out. The only donside is that the local area is ade up of three other hotels with no independant shops or restaurants to explore. As the old city is only ten minutes aeay by light rail, this is not an insurmountable issud.
The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Very nice hotel; close to the Damascus Gate of the old city.
Conveniently close to the Old City. Great breakfast! A little expensive.
Staff is kind but the number of people working at the reception desk is not enough. There were times when I called, and they did not pick up the phone. The hotel seems outdated, especially the carpet in the hallways that looks old and dirty. Great location.
Great service, friendly staff, very nice decorum of the bar area. Great place to stay.
Only booked due to limited availability - staff were useless and arrogant. Rooms old and in need of a spruce-up.
Excellent Hotel
The Olive Tree Hotel is wonderful. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that you feel welcomed. Also, if you need anything, they are at your service. We booked a tour through the hotel. Ahmad Qaq helped to book the tour for us, and he was extremely helpful and polite. He even remembered us as we were checking out and asked if we enjoyed the tour. The hotel rooms are very well kept and the bathrooms are wonderful. The only negative we have is there is not a lot of parking in the hotel. However, security came down and helped us negotiate our rental car into a tight corner. I highly recommend this hotel.
Misrepresentation
When we booked breakfast was free to all rooms however the booking site did not add the breakfast and subsequently ot was excluded. Their advert on the tv says free breakfast to all rooms yet we had to pay. Other than this the stay was good. Our medicine just disappeard, unexplained it could have been misplaced.
Lovely hotel close to all amenities.
Reception was very welcoming, especially Mughrabi who was most pleasing and helpful. Also manager in the restaurant was very pleasant.
a very pleasant experience...have booked it again.
Excellent. Staff very friendly. Rooms were nice and spacious.
The condition of the room was below expectations and not all, but most of the staff seemed unfriendly.
Nice hotel. Service was good. Breakfast is basic.
Very happy of my stay. Excellent quality/price. Nice gym too and very helpfull staff.
Nice place to stay!
We enjoyed our room and balcony. It was clean and comfortable. The location is walking distance from the Old City and Garden Tomb. The food was superior. I loved it!
Nice modern hotel, we wil definitely cone again.
Highly Overrated
Hotel is overrated - geared to service large bus type tour groups - either buffet or bar menu only meal option - had room 807 with balcony; bird crap all over and lawn type furniture filthy - ice machine on 6th floor only & good luck getting an ice bucket - no info to assist solo travelers - free 10-min international phone calls; there 5 days always busy, never able to get a single call - front desk not helpful - room badly needs renovation - wife and I are world travelers and will not stay again, even for free... You decide - The Holy City was Great!
Horrible staff specially the reservation manager and hotel manager..
Great hotel to overseas visitors
Hotel staff & management were very helpful. They went beyond their duty to help when we were riped off by retailer in old city. Friendly faces at great breakfast. Too happy to recommend this hotel esp overseas visitors
Excellent clean modern rooms. Good location and convenient.
No hot water even when there isn’t a power cut
There was a power cut when we arrived. Fine.... there is back up generator. Though even when the power is back on hot water still didn’t come.... this is really disappointing for a hotel at this price
Great choice!
Great hotel. 25 minutes walk to the western wall. The staff were mostly friendly and kind. Twould be good if the security guy at the entrance knew some more English and help people that come in with suitcases by holding the door. Great hotel, good amenities, clean an comfortable. Overall very happy.
It is a big hotel but it needs more care. The bathroom is old.
Very nice hotel close to old Jerusalem great plac
Nice hotel very close to Damascus door great service and nice front desk attention, we love it
Enchanting and Atmospheric - Enjoy a Surprise!
This particular hotel is just amazing - clean. comfortable and with every convenience: and a personal touch. Real flowers in the lobby and in dining room. A hotel you would look forward to a return visit.
Miserably dirty with unhelpful, unhappy staff.
Starting with the lobby, to the elevators, to the hallways, to the rooms, the hotel was filthy. Walls were marred and in need of paint, the bathtub had black mold (in both rooms we rented) and the sheets literally had holes in them...all 4 beds. Wouldn't change currency on the Jewish sabbath (get over yourselves boys if you wish to deal in the real world). Staff never smiled, especially in the restaurant. Miserable people. You need to reconsider your rating.
Good stay
Very good
Close to holy sites
Overall a very nice and unique hotel. Decorated with old charm yet very modern.
A little disappointing.
There were a few issues with my stay recently - it took about 5 minutes for the water to heat up, the power went out if I had two things plugged in and a male housekeeper walked into my room without knocking and then tried to give me body lotion and toilet paper. He then proceeded to try to put lotion on my feet until I adamantly said no thank you. The hotel is definitely set-up for large bus groups as well and as a result it can be quite chaotic at breakfast.
Room unclean, ants in some locations. Room cleaners are inconsistent, forgetting towels and other amenities. Breakfast is good, breakfast service was great and staff overall are helpful. Suggest for hotel to review their quality and have shuttles to the old city.
Hotel front desk staff not so friendly or helpful. I asked three days in a row to schedule a shuttle for Saturday morning early to the airport. Each day they told me they could only schedule 24 hours in advance. On Friday I arrived back from a tour at 5pm and tried to schedule the shuttle again for the morning which was the fourth attempt. Front desk said " they close at three due to sabat. So sorry theres nothing I can do" I paid $100 US dollars for a ride to the airport!!! instead of $20. Beds were hard and low to the ground. Awful instant coffee in rooms. Buffet was way overpriced and not that great. The first time we ate there we were put at a dirty table. After about 10 minutes I got the waiters attention and aske him to clean the table. He says "I didn't put you at this table. Why didn't you sit at a clean table?" I said "the manager seated us here" The staff are apparenty irritated by tourists and suffering from burnout. Management needs to get a handle on this. Bad experience for us.
Accessible to holy sites in Jerusalem
Accommodating hotel staffs except that in the dining area, the tables are labeled according to the pilgrim groups. If you do not belong to any of the pilgrim groups, you have to ask where you can sit. The old man by the door in the dining area, I am guessing he is the supervisor picks the people he greet which is not good and sort of a racist behavior to me. I think all guests should be treated with equal customer service.
good deal, good service
Overall OK
Great staff!!
Great hotel and service in East Jerusalem.
title as suite is misleading, as it is one large room.
Close to old city Jerusalem Damascus gate, American colony and easy to walk or drive to historical/biblical sites.
Good hotel but requires better control of staff
After a long day we came to an uncleaned room. The night staff was not very helpful.
Extended stay in Jerusalem
Hotel was great but we were advised by our tour leader not to walk in the neighbourhood (East Jerusalem) We got taxis everywhere we wanted to go.
Great location for a stay in Jerusalem
This is a well-maintained hotel--you notice it the minute you walk through the door. The décor is beautiful, going between old world charm and all the modern conveniences travelers expect. The only disappointment was the staff. The men at the front door do nothing but look at their cell phones; later in our stay we asked about them and were told they were security, not bellmen or valet as one would think. This type of hotel usually has someone outside to greet you and at least direct you to the lobby. Once we found this out, we understood the disinterest in the guests. The front desk staff were not welcoming but did their job well as far as checking in, checking out and hotel knowledge. Beyond that, we did not see them go above and beyond when asking questions about local activities and events.
What a wonderful stay!!!
The room was very clean, neat and comefortable. Though the romm was a bit small, the beautiful balcony made up for it. The service was good and the staff was very kind. The hotel has every amenity you could want. The food was excellent, and the free juice at dinner was a plesant surprise! I would certainly love to come back for another stay!!!
nice hotel not far from many sights
we stayed at the olive tree for three nights at the beginning of june it is clean and comfortable it is near the tram line that takes you to many places of interest the central bus station is nearby and mamilla shopping area we did find it a fair walk to reach the old city part of it uphill to the nearest Damascus gate and it is probably easier to take the tram
Thumbs up for the Olive Tree!
We liked this hotel very much. It's within walking distance of the Old City. The Israel breakfast was delicious and beautifully laid out! Our only complaint was that there is no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby. But the lobby was often very crowded with nowhere to sit.
Great
Nice experience pretty good
OK for the price - but room for improvement
Staff could be more friendly and attentive. General housekeeping needs attention - room needed a good clean, along with the public areas! That said the room was comfortable and spacious and had everything you needed. I would stay here again, good price and location.
Hotel with a class
Easy check in/check out. Staff are polite. Rooms are perfectly comfortable. Great breakfast.
shower door
Overall the hotel is nice. However the rooms need some minor maintenance such as painting and repairs. The shower has only one door pane which leaves the bathroom exposed to water being sprayed al over the bathroom making it very uncomfortable to take a peaceful shower. Also, there was no option of turning on the heat as it can get bit chilly at night. (in October)
Great Staff, Great Hotel
The staff here are very welcoming, professional, respectful and helpful. The hotel is upper-scale, very clean with great lobby areas offering many comfortable places to sit and relax. If you don't want to eat a full meal in the restaurant, there is an area to order drinks, including coffee drinks as well as light snacks, ice cream and deserts. The restaurant has a wide variety of delicious foods. There is free internet in the lobby. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, inviting with pleasant updated décor. I had the best sleep I've had in a long time and left feeling very rested and refreshed. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
Friendly staff, very helpful and polite.
Great value and service
I thought that the staff was very friendly and attentive. Great location!
Nice hotel. Not close to city centre
Had a really nice stay. Breakfasts were amazing. Hotel staff were only too happy to help with queries. If you can get a room with a balcony this is a must. Slept well. Good air conditioning and comfortable beds.
Excellent Hotel! Loved our stay!
We absolutely loved our stay. We came a day early and they took care of us. The room was very clean, the staff was so kind and the breakfast was amazing!!! We were able to get around town and love the fact we were so close to the Old City. We highly recommend.
Keep looking if you are an independent traveler
Cons: I Had to ask for new towels EVERY day of stay! Sheets were not changed for multi-day stay. Twin beds awkwardly pushed together were uncomfortable.Front Desk staff were usually unavailable or hiding in the office. When they were at the desk, they were often surly and unpleasant, and seemed to want to be on their smartphone rather than answer questions. This hotel caters to package tourists and really doesn't care about independent travelers. Crib provided was old, wooden, and unstable. Pros: decent location 15min walk to Old City(Damascus Gate); good breakfast and dinner buffet, and servers were all friendly and helpful. Hotel did not make it easy to tip servers--maybe put out a tip jar for the dinner crew especially.
Great hotel close to Jerusalem's Old City
We drove our rental car from Tiberius to Jerusalem, and had no trouble finding the Olive Tree. There was plenty of private (and secure) parking (included in the cost) in the underground garage. The hotel is definitely 5-star. Well appointed, though modest, economy rooms with some English TV channels available. Free Internet access is provided in the lobby and lounge areas, with a slight charge available for room access. Our daily package included a buffet style breakfast daily, and although it was definitely a Mediterranean feast, there are also enough choices to appeal to not-so-adventerous palates. We usually ate a late lunch/early dinner in the well-appointed bar/lounge, and enjoyed a glass of excellent Israeli wine, sometimes accompanied by (soft) live music. We highly recommend it for your next stay in Jerusalem.
Fine hotel
Very good situation, easy to get about. Lovely breakfast and lovely Deluxe room.
Olive Tree Hotel, Jerusalem
It was fair. Location was good but the service has room to improve.
Disappointing hotel with a decent location
This hotel caters to large bus / tour groups - we were not on one of those. The building and rooms are pretty nice and the breakfast buffet is very good (although don't drink the coffee if you are a coffee lover because you will be sorely disappointed). The location is excellent - being about a 10 minute walk from the Damascus Gate. Now for the bad - The service is basically non-existent. We called down to the lobby several times over the 3 days that we stayed at the hotel and were never able to reach anyone. There was drilling outside our room at 8am :( Twice someone from maintenance or housekeeping just opened the door to our room - once around 8:30am and another at around 9:30am. Overall, I found it to be overpriced. There is a charge for the internet (per logged-in computer in the room - not by the room). For our 3 rooms for 4 days' internet service the charge was $120.00.
Online photos don't do this hotel justice!
The Olive Tree was a wonderful hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely accomodating. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgraded room! The room was lovely, spacious and very clean/comfortable. I went online and looked at pictures of the Olive Tree hotel and the photos do not do justice in showing the beauty of the rooms and hotel! The breakfasts were outstanding - traditional Israeli fare, very fresh and delicious! Also, the hotel is a short 10-15 minute walk to Old City. If we make it back to Jerusalem, we would definitely stay the the Olive Tree again!
in the heart of Jerusalem
great food. plumbing was terrible, shower broken . hot to cold showers
Worked for us
The walk into the old city was quite reasonable for us. Under 10 minutes and felt ok walking back in the dark. The surrounding area is ok, but not useful. There are other big hotels around so it feels safe, but nothing we wanted to walk around to explore.
Decent Hotel
This hotel is fine, and reading through other reviews it is probably a decent option for Jerusulem visit. Clean, good service and location is OK - aboyt a km walk to Old Town but not near many restaurants. Nice bar area where you can read papers etc.. Main downside is I would expect a 3.5 star hotel of this size to have a pool and probably fitness room also. HAd to pay extra for internet.
i think you shuold orgenize diners for shabat
Olive Tree Hotel
A very nice hotel located close to the Old City in Jerusalem. I had no problems during my short stay.
Olive Tree Hotel- East Jerusalem
The buffet breakfast is amazing - one of the largest I've ever seen with a great variety of items. The rooms are very comfortable and in great condition. Front desk resolved my reservation issue nicely. Close to the old city (short walk down the street) to see the sights of Old Jerusalem. Near other hotels. Would highly recommend.
Olive Tree Hotel, Jerusalem
My first time visiting Jerusalem, we were not certain how to select a hotel after reading many reviews of several hotels. But thought Olive Tree had more positive reviews and was exceedingly pleased with our choice. The room was clean, updated, breakfast was plentiful and a quick 15 minute walk to the Jaffa gate. Our room service was quick and the cheese plate was tasty. For the price, we felt that we received fair value.
Good location, but not thrilled by the accomodations.
Personnel was very rude. Hotel was ok, we got a balcony which was excellent for the mornings.
Very convenient
Walking distance from Damascus Gate (10 minutes to Via Dolorosa) Free parking, good value for money.

Good place to stay very good breakfast
