Beach paradise.

We stayed in unit 4 I believe, downstairs with a beautiful view of the ocean. Convenient parking to room, amazing that we could walk across the street and be on the beach for good seashell and sand dollar hunting. At high tide we went and sat on the stairs just to enjoy the ocean and full moon! The host was great and really attentive. Would stay again if/when we return to New Zealand.

We stayed in the Northernmost upper floor suite, and it was amazingly great! Probably the best accommodations in the area. The large balcony overlooks the beach (30-sec walk), and just sitting and watching the continuous broad waves over and over was mesmerizing. WiFi was good (better than many others in NZ), and the hosts, who live on-site, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too. We stayed for much of a week, and would return in a heartbeat!

The property is in such a perfect location. Easy walking distance to town and right across the road from the beach. The unit was clean but dated. Would have loved a big comfy couch to be able to sit and relax in after a big day.

This family owned motel charged me for being a no-show for a stay that I called them 6 weeks in advance to cancel. I spoke at length with their manager, Dan, for over 15 minutes (calling from the USA) as I explained to him that I may have more than one reservation and I could have one booked direct and one through Expedia. He told me with certainty there was only one reservation and he would cancel it. Two weeks after my stay would have ended, I find a charge for $900 USA on my credit card. I called and spoke to the husband and wife who own the business and they refused to return a single $ stating that Dan knew he can’t cancel a reservation made through Expedia, so it’s my fault that they charged me as a no-show. And their reason for giving me no refund and no accommodation, “we’ve already paid a fee to Expedia”. Never mind that they had full knowledge that I would not be arriving and could have booked the room to someone else! I have travelled to New Zealand over 15 years and dozens of places and have never dealt with as reasonable and rude a couple as these owners. If you are used to friendly New Zealand hosts and American level of Customer Service, STAY Away and definitely book somewhere else!

Awesome spot!

Down for the night so partner could join a fishing charter next day. This is my go to place when in Whitianga. The owners are great, so helpfull. You cant beat the location or the sunrise view! Thanks so much! see you next time :)

Older property, you can see it is well looked after though and thought has gone into minor details/amenities. It was very clean and today inside and out

If you like long walks along the beach, then this is literally the hotel for you. Close enough to make the wharf and downtown walkable (about 15-20 minutes depending on your speed), but far enough to not be in the middle of it all. Oh and the view of the Mercury Bay and beyond is perfection for relaxing with your morning coffee (especially if it rains on the bay - the rainbows are quite something).

We did not like the layout of the bathroom. Entering the room straight into bathroom, no door to toilet, was disconcerting. Shower cubicle strange.

Nice clean beachfront room. Huge kitchen if keen on cooking. Walking distance to the wharf, where eateries operate. Even has collaboration with Grace O'Malley's for 10% discount, just that we forgot to show the card... Only drawback is need some time to figure out the hot water for the shower...

Great location for early morning sunrise & beach walk. Handy to Harbour House Cafe for good coffee & dinner at Kufe bar & Restaurant. Enjoyed our stay at Oceanside. 😊

Very accomidating and freindly

This was a lovely property overlooking Buffalo Beach. It is very close to cafes and restaurants as well as the town centre would definitely stay here again.

Great location. Beach was just across the we road. Could sit out the front of our own pstio with sea views. Easy walk into town & restaurants. Unit was spacious, with seperate living room (uncomfortable couch) Shower could do with a little TLC. Comfortable bed and friendly staff

It was right next to the beach and not that far from town so we could walk to the restaurants. Just 1 day they didnt service our room so we had to go down and get towels and coffee and milk

The friendliness of the Hosts. Jill especially went 'the extra mile' . We went to dinner at a restaurant recommended by the Motel. After our excellent dinner, our waitress informed us that we had a treat to come(it turned out to be a shared chocolate cheese cake). They would not disclose who ordered it. It was for our 64th. anniversary celebration, that day. We subsequently found out that Jill from the motel had arranged it. Some people are so kind.

Friendly organised welcome on arrival. Flexible and allowed us to book in an hour earlier than planned. Clean and well maintained accomodation. Great location with easy access to all ammenities. Great value to the cost. Highly recommend.

Positioned directly across the beach and a 10 minute walk to the shopping area makes this motel ideal. It’s an older building that has been neatly updated. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom would be unsuitable for people will mobility issues as there are large steps up into the spa bath to take a shower. Also the space for the toilet is very tight. The free wifi was intermittent and slow. The TV was oddly positioned.

Location was great, staff were great... we had a great weekend...

1 bed apartmentment needed upgrading. Bathroom was basic with entry door leading into it. Handbasin tap had a dripping problem and an elastic band used to attempt to fix it . Overpriced rate . Upstairs Seaview apartment suite was spacious with a large verandah and great view. Traffic noise was constant until the evening. Stairs very steep and problematic for large suitcases. Staff very obliging.

The views from the property and being able to walk across the road for a swim was just sensational. The only downside was it didn't feel that private with the balconies not being fully enclosed. Having said that, I'd be more than happy to stay here again.

Right across from the beach. Within walking distance to town. Large living room area. Bedroom was small but bed and pillows were comfortable. Nice porch facing the beach to watch the sunrise. Cute patio in the back. Staff friendly and offered helpful information. This area is a cute beach town with a marina so water adventures are available there as well as a water taxi. This is also fairly close to the hotel. Many dining options are also available. Getting to this area requires driving through a lot of mountains so the road can have a lot of turns in it. Not a straight road. Similar to driving in the mountains in Tennessee near where we live.

Good location if a little tired

The motel is not quite as described on the website - needs a refresh. Kitchen is well equipped and communal Barbie is useful. Road outside is busy with traffic in the high season from 5.30 am onwards. Bedroom to the rear could do with curtains.

This motel is in the most ideal location for a trip to Whitianga its walking distance to the town centre and has ample parking and is right next to the sea. Its units are self contained and the bedroom is off the street side so it's quite.

Beautiful sea views. Room was pretty dated but despite that, it was lovely and clean. The walls seemed very thin and we were able to hear every sound from the room above and next door. Unluckily, we had nz’s champion snorer next to us which mean we weren’t able to sleep on the first night. We were located next to the alley way between the two buildings and at night the flood lights were lit brightly. A lack of curtains on the window looking out to the alley meant that the light shone straight through the gaps in the blinds and lit the room brightly, which interrupted our sleep. The internet was intermittent. Overall, if you don’t mind thin walls and bright light in your room at night, you’ll enjoy the stay.

Excellent motel in a great location.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oceanside Motel. Perfect location and a great motel. We had an upstairs unit with a lovely big balcony. The complimentary Koh Spa products are lovely! Couldn't have wanted for more.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Oceanside. From the friendly welcome at check in, to the tips on what to see and do, we felt right at home. The room was perfect, brilliant location a stones throw from the beach, very clean and modern. Great shower, comfortable beds, modern kitchen facilities. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely seaside hotel. Amazing view. Great hosts. Took their boat trip around the bay and to Catheral Cove. Amazing. Suggested idea for improvement is an upgrade to the bed and pillow.

The hotel was right across from the ocean so had a great view, huge balcony, and the spa tub 👌. The weather was complete crap, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the hotel or the local area. The Irish pubs food was great as well....o’malleys I believe which was recommended by hotel staff. Will come back when i plan better taking weather into account lol

Good view/below par accommodation

The only thing that this motel has going for it is the view. Toilet has no door, shower screen in need of repair, water pressure poor and vanity very old and extremely low. You enter from the rear door only to be confronted immediately by the toilet on your left with no door. A cabin in a caravan park would be more luxurious.

Beautiful location!

Fantastic location right opposite the beautiful beach. The owners were on holiday themselves and the man looking after the place was most helpful with local information and ensuring I had everything I needed. Really enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

Wonderful location.

Beautiful location located right in front of the beach on Buffalo road, very close drive to wharf and central. Accessible to everything. The room was clean and cosy though I would say the bed is not the most comfortable bed. Other than that staff and overall service was satisfying had a really great weekend stay. Totally recommend staying at Oceanside motel.
