We had the 2 bedroom penthouse with the spa. Views were unmatched which is what we wanted. Daily cleans. Comes with full kitchen and laundry. There is currently construction happening but didn’t impact our stay at all. What did impact us unfortunately was the TV reception was terrible and the chrome cast kept cutting out which was a shame as we wanted to spend most of our time in the apartment admiring our he views and enjoying movies and tv series.

The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and modern. I loved the lighting in the bathroom as well as the rain shower. Even though I didn't book a 'lake view' room, I still had a nice little view of the snowy mountains and lake with a little balcony. The heating was fabulous! Floor heating, a heatpump and a wall heater if you need it. Since I just booked a standard hotel room, I was pleasantly suprised to have a microwave, Nespresso machine, dishes and a decent fridge. The location was great for public transport as bus stops were very close to the top of the driveway. The complimentary shuttle to and from Queenstown city was fantastic! Make sure you call in advance to book your seat on a shuttle as they can fill up. One thing that was a bit of a downer is that you can hear noise through the interconnecting door. My room had a door that connected to a larger room next door.. I could hear their TV loudly until about 1am as well as clear conversations. I needed to put on some earbuds to be able to sleep. I can't imagine that all rooms are like this though. I would have spoken to the front desk however it was only bothering me for one night as people were very quiet the following night. Prior to booking, I luckily went directly onto the Oaks website and read that their restaurant/bar/gym were all closed due to the current construction and the reception is in a temporary location. I am sure everything will be even more wonderful once the construction is complete!

Lots of construction going on, but this only was a hassle for parking and access if you have a large vehicle, absolutely no construction noise in rooms at all. Once in, the room was amazing. Warm, amazing location and views to die for. right on the lake and access to walking track

Newly renovated rooms, excellent view, friendly staff. Loved every moment of our trip. Bed was comfy. Definitely recommend. will stay here again for sure. Renovation was going on but not bothering to us. Car park was a bit challenging at times. Make sure to get a car park pass.

Great place would highly recommend!

The Oaks Shores are currently part way through a major renovation. The renovated rooms are of a high standard. The 2 bedroom lake view apartment was perfect for our stay of 4 friends. Very spacious and well equipped with incredible views. The carpark and temporary reception area is not ideal but we note this is only temporary while to rest of the renovation is completed. We will definately be back!

Booked the property through Wotif. Upon arrival, we found the property to be under construction. No restaurant, no parking and no spa. At the time of booking, this was not reflected on the Wotif website. Upon arrival, we were informed by the manager of Oaks that they are not responsible for “4th and 5th party booking agents”. The room itself is was lovely, no complaints. However, the room service was poor. If one or two items of clothes were left on a bed, we came back to the room to find a not saying that staff could not make the bed.

The suites were immaculate and quiet, along a beautiful walking trail by the lake. While some of the facilities are under renovation, they were transparent about this when I reserved a suite. Despite renovations, it was very quiet and clean. The only concern was a sewer smell in and around the property in the evenings.

Still under construction and the rooms are modern and well equipped. However, little to no amenities, and 30-40min walk from town. Once construction is done I know it will be better.

It’s in a beautiful but somewhat inconvenient location unless you have a car. Staff are spread thin. Long waits for check in and check out and they don’t always answer if you call etc… difficulty scheduling the shuttle, cleaning was ok but not great and while the suites are wonderful, the regular rooms are just ok.

The property is under construction. The entry to the property is a construction entrance. We received no advance warning of this situation and would not have stayed here if we knew in advance. Almost no parking available.

Gorgeous area, nice rooms. Under construction and horrible smell of sewage… transportation is also an issue and while they have a shuttle it isn’t ez to use or convenient— they are reluctant to give anccess to it and make it difficult to reserve and it must be reserved.

We were disappointed to find out that there was construction going on at the hotel. No noise but very inconvenient due to access to the hotel. No one informed us of this. We did receive an email asking for our bedding configuration, parking requirement and time of check in. We asked for parking spot as we had a hire car. We were told no spots available but no information was given to the accessibility of local parking to this hotel. Our room was near the fire escape and access to stair well to the front of hotel and the lake. This was inclined to be noisy. We just felt a discount could have been offered as it wasn’t a cheap hotel. We thought we were paying for a better experience.

Was not informed this was under construction. There was no parking, needed to park 10-15 min walk up steep hills and park on public road with no security. Room was small, no wardrobe even. Balcony was covered in bird poo (Which was only a meter away from the supposed kitchen. Overall very disappointing and I will not be back. Staff were uninterested and seemed sick of all the complaints.

There was no clear warning about the extent of the renovations or that I needed to book parking in advance. It is imperative that the extent of the disruption caused by the renovations needs to be clearly advertised, the fact you have to park across the main road and in a side street on a steep hill is outrageous, you then have to cross one of the busiest roads in Queenstown and the walk down a steep unprotected walkway before you enter the hotel is also terrible not to mention dangerous, if it was wet or icy it would be so dangerous, what if I was mobility impaired or worse fully disabled, the fact that this was not clearly advertised when booking is very misleading. Out of principle for the dishonesty I would never recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Great option for Queenstown

The hotel has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Apartments are spacious and comfortable. Our only gripe was that cleanliness could do with some improvement. The basics (e.g. toilets, sinks, kitchen bench etc) were all pristine, but the deeper cleaning had significant room for improvement. For example, the floors were sticky, and most of the window and mirrors had streaks, fingerprints etc.

I have regularly stayed at Oakshores in Queenstown since 2010 and it’s my No1 choice of where to stay in Queenstown . Apartments are very large and beautiful views of the lake and mountains . Our apartment was recently refurbished and it was very nice . The staff were exceptional especially with the check in . Nothing was too much trouble . There is currently some building works going on but our unit was very quiet and parking was provided on site .

This property was amazing and the staff were all so helpful. It is being renovated which was very clearly advised at the time of booking. The obly impacts of this were - less parking, no on-site restaurant and uust a bit of a less inviting entry from the road. Once you are in the carpark it is great. The room was clean, spacious and had stunning views. We stayed in a penthouse and would stay again when we are back in Queenstown. Good sized rooms, great wardrobe space, large bathrooms with heated tiles, good sized living area, coffee machine and wonderful daily house keeping. Location wise the views are amazing, driving into town is quick and easy. The path at the front allows walking in to town easy and the bus stop close by made getting to the snow (remarkables) straight forward.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The apartments are lovely, pretty clean and tidy. The only downfall is the construction at the moment with the larking very tight and the use of a traffic light which is very very very slow. Overall pretty satisfied though.

Currently under refurbishment Altho this wasn’t a major but something to be aware of. Noisy fan in 2nd bedroom that goes all the time is very annoying & led to very broken sleep. No aircon so bedrooms very stuffy as no windows. Outstanding views, beautiful, well equipped rooms.

It’s good view and nice apartment. Don’t expect any house keeping service. If you have no expectations of fresh towel and amenities set everyday; or dish washing service then you are fine.

Stunning views and great location.

Very nice property, amazing views indeed… close to city and they offer a shuttle service to and from the CBD which was an excellent option for us. Room is very clean and equipped with everything we needed.. kitchen and bathroom are both spotless. Nice and friendly staff.. construction is still going on but didn’t bother us at all. The only downside is Parking which is a big problem due to ongoing construction, but apart from the parking issue, we enjoyed our stay. Will be back for sure

Beautiful property but due to construction, parking was inconvenient and messy. Last issue was bed, very old with no mattress topper,had dips where guests have slept. Needs replacing to match with Beautiful decor of rooms

The view of the lake was beautiful… Not having a restaurant, or even a place to buy some snacks was terrible… The hotel is having a new area built with more units… But some arrangements should be made for food… For such a quality hotel… Even smaller, lower, rated hotels, have some type of snack bar… Very poor decision by management to not have anything

Beautiful view but disappointing housekeeping

We booked the lake view sub Penthouse about 8 weeks prior to arrivals via Hotel.com. There was no mention about ongoing renovations. So when we arrived, half the hotel and carpark was under scaffolding so access can be hard if you don’t have a car. If you have a car, you need to pre book a carpark (quite narrow and steep to get to) otherwise you will have to park elsewhere which may be inconvenient. The reception area is really small and chaotic if more than 4 people around for check in due to renovations. The room itself ( 2 bed and 2 bath apt with a spectacular lake view was gorgeous and spacious. However because of the renovations - the bedroom views were all facing the construction site so the curtains were closed during our 3 night stay. Housekeeping - this was disappointing particularly for a premium apt/ room. There were dead mosquitoes/ insects on the bathroom windowsills and also bathroom tops. The windowsills had a layer of dust. The next day we asked the reception about housekeeping and they had to check whether our room included housekeeping !!!??? - so check when u make the booking. This was included but when we returned that evening, our room / apt appeared half done eg. Dirty towels removed but not replaced, new pillow cases placed by bedside tables, dead insects still on window sills!! The location was great and I cannot fault the quality of the room/ apt with its finishings and comfort of the beds.

Goods: New, very clean, good staff, restricted but good view, every day cleaning. Bads: Not so convenient for those who want to walk to the streets. The block 2 is all new construction but the rooms were not sound proof. The family next to our room was extremely loud. Their kids were playing and screaming throughout the day until midnight. The two separate units had a common door in between that was locked. And the neighbour's kids would try to open the door every now and then. Why would newly constructed units would have a common door in the first place? It's overpriced

Brand new. Large spacious unit with full kitchen and washer and dryer. Perfect location with a nice 5 km trail along the lake that connects to downtown Queenstown.

It is a difficult assessment - this should be and I am sure that in 2025 it will be a great facility. For our stay the rooms are very nice, new fittings and bathrooms, however with no air conditioning. Our first room on ground level had a door we could open but we didn’t feel safe leaving it open to anyone who may come in while we slept, the second room didn’t have a door only a couple of small windows that only opened to 10 degrees with insufficient air flow to cool the room. The third room had a door and balcony and we were finally comfortable sleeping. We had expected a bar and restaurant both of which were closed for renovation. There was nowhere we could charge an electric car. The staff were great and did all they could to ensure we were cared for. I will ask if the renovations are complete before staying again.

Avoid this hotel if you want a relaxing stay.

A very disappointing and frustrating stay. Dishwasher not working, housekeeping does not do a good job. Room is still dirty. Bedroom lights keep switching on and off on our 4th day while I am trying to put a baby to sleep. Had to get pack up and transfer to a different room with a sleeping baby. Phone not working in new room. Despite reporting all of this no action from staff. Poor communication and staff. Construction everywhere. Dust and odour from construction as you walk to the room.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in ' I wish I could give them zero. Specially for their customer service. When we booked in, there wasn't anything on the website regarding construction that is happening at the hotel which blocks the lake view. So you will not have the view that it is advertised on the website, expedia, or other booking web. Also instead of relaxing you have to put up with constrution noise. There is nothing like house keeping. You step in the room around 5pm and you don't even have clean towel to take shower. When I called the reception , she said you have to come up to reception and pick up the towels. After we got back to the room around 8: 00PM, house keeper only made the bed, rubbish and dirty towels on the floor. Not even emptying bin. Launges and furnitures are so dirty snd old. They keep saying to everyone that our house keepers are busy. Not good enough when you charge almost $800 for two nights Read less

Really disappointing accommodation. Check-in was delayed by 3.5hrs with no communication at check-in, until we asked. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was food under the couches, on the kitchen floor and there were crumbs all over the couches. On day two there was no hot water, and during our stay they ran out of towels.

Overall good enough however the bathroom area was quite small with limited space for toiletries for 2 people. Also no sink or microwave in the room and we were disappointed that they failed to supply us with fresh towels after our first night there.

Booked a room for 4 nights, when checking in I got told that we had but upgraded for the first night but had to check out at 10am the next day and recheck in after 2pm to another room - they seem to not be able to take a booking from a third party. Additionally, they have construction going on where power tools start at 7:30am, so you’re unable to sleep in past that time

It was exactly as promised. Photos were a true and accurate representation of the accommodation and the views. Staff friendly and obliging.

The suite was very spacious, with amazing views. The only downside and depends on where the suite or room is. I.e 1004b s the road is very noisy. Trying to find a parking spot was a challenge. Staff are friendly, it’s a nice 30 min walk to the centre of Queenstown.

Heating was set a bit high and couldn’t see how to control it in the room.

Very disappointing we had to keep asking for room to be cleaned. We where staying for 8 nights and room was only cleaned once.

We stayed in a studio room our first stay which was lovely. Perfect for an overnight stay. When we returned we stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The view was spectacular, it was very roomy with kitchen facilities and a nice fire. However some of the furniture was damaged and needed replacing the shower over the bath badly needed to be updated.

Million dollar view

An amazing spot to stay with family in queenstown. A couple of small issues on check-in that were quickly resolved. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and the free shuttle to and from town adds great value! Would be happy to stay there again.

Very disappointing

It's a constuction site! We booked a terrace room where "actual view from room" photo is hugely misrepresentative. Despite the partial lake view in the photo, all we could see was a construction site. The doors at the front of the room provide the only natural light, so room was dark and depressing. Website states that the construction "will present little if any disruption to hotel guests" - it's not unbearable, but this is laughable. Construction continues until 2025 so be warned. NZ has staffing issues in the hospitality sector, especially in QT. It's unfortunate, but it's not going away so it's important that hotels set expectations correctly with their guests. This didn't happen. We were told that the rooms would be serviced daily, but it only happened for 1 in 3 days, leading to bins overflowing. We were told that the restaurant would be shut but the bar would be open - the property is ~30 minutes from QT by foot, so this was important as the bus service is also unreliable (staffing issues). We found that the bar was closed on some days without warning and was unable to open all evening. I raised all these issues with the staff on site, but they're unable to do anything about it and I was told to email the GM who could help. I did this but one month later, I still haven't got any reply. If I'd known the construction/staffing/amenity/customer service issues at this property before I booked I would never have stayed here and I recommend you find somewhere else.

Very disappointed

I was really disappointed. Room was booked as a twin room but not set up despite me contacting and confirming with the hotel two days before we arrived. Took 4 hrs to convert a king bed to twin beds. Room was stuffy, view blocked by construction, staff ineffectual. There was no restaurant nor food onsite. The free shuttle to the centre of Queenstown was good.

The locality was good. The hotel was full and we were pit in a room with no view, little daylight and standard even though we had paid for a 1 bedroom lakeview room. When we went back to reception after seeing the room we were told that when booking we need to make it clear that we want a lakeview room! We told reception that we selected a lakeview one bedroom hotel room and paid the extra rate for that room. After checking the rate we had paid they told us they were full and they could not give us a lakeview room for at least 2 days. There was no air con and it was extremely hot. We had no servicing of the room. they managed to change us to a 2 bedroom lake view room but one bedroom was locked. The room was lovely but the reception manager told us that they were giving us a very nice room as compensation for the first two nights in a standard room! Really, well we had paid for 7 nights in a nice room and got only 5 nights! We had to check out of the std room at 10am. We arrived back at 3.15 pm to be told the other room was not yet serviced and to take a seat. We waited 3 hours and still no service. We lost our patience and had a few words with the manager who serviced the room herself! other guests were the same. We had no room cleaning for the entire stay and we had to get our towels etc and empty stinking rubbish that had been left in the kitchen bins!! There was no apology. No refund and we were expected to thank the hotel for a "nice" room which...we had already paid

We had the 2 bedroom lake front. The view from our room was breathtaking, room was clean and easy to access. Even though we were told the hotel is short staffed at the moment we didn't have any issues with house keeping. Overall an amazing place to spend our holidays.

It’s ok. But I won’t be back. The property has nice view and by the lake. It’s not much of service tho if you are looking for an apartment with service then it won’t be this. The housekeeping didn’t do a good job. They didn’t clean any dishes, didn’t take the amenities away when we finished and left it where they are and just give you a new set everyday. The bathtub drain was very slow and the bedding wasn’t made properly everyday.

The excellent location of the property was marred by the renovations of one of the main buildings, which obscured 1/3 of the view from our room & has made many of the parking spaces unusuable. Parking is a very major problem - if returning after about 8pm there was a good chance of having to park a 5-10 min walk away across a very busy road. The advertised restaurant was closed, meaning that either dining out (with consequent later parking problems) or staying in & cooking were the only options.
