Impressed
Welcoming on arrival and throughout our 4 day stay. Our bedroom had the river view which was stunning and the bedroom was spacial and clean. The breakfast menu had good choices and the hotel proximity provided wonderful views of the Shot over river. The spa, sauna and pool were easily accessible and beautifully presented with the marble and tiles a feature. We would definitely recommend and would like to definitely stay again.
View, room size & balcony
Everything was amazing and the staff were fantastic. Made us feel very welcome and very accommodating. I wouldn't change anything, by far the best place we stayed at on our NZ trip.
Amazing views, helpful staff. Delighted we choose this spot for our holiday and highly recommend
Pool and sauna was very nice.
Great quite location just out of Queenstown Dated hotel due to be renovated soon but great helpful staff, warm and quite rooms Bath/ shower not accessible or short person friendly.
Bad room limited hot water and room filed with fireplace smoke had to check out early for our own heath manager refused refund for last night we did not stay
Out of the hustle and bustle of town, able to enjoy the location yet a short drive when needed.
Wondeful hotel could just use some minor updates
Beautiful view! A little far from the city.
Great place to stay with large rooms. Nice indoor pool and sauna
Beautiful place to stay. We had the best scenery from our bedroom and at the restaurant for breakfast. Gym equipment is very dated but was functional.
Staff in hotel very friendly and helpful
The property itself was nice but could tell there are parts that need updates. The hallways smelled of smoke and the shower drain did not drain. The carpents need updateing. Bed was super comfortable though and the staff were great!
Hotel needs a spruce up
Lovely setting, property starting to show its age a bit. Small maintenance issues.
What an amazing view! Such a lovely lookout and nice to be in a quiet area that is close to Queenstown and Arrowtown.
We were very impressed with Nugget Point. The hotel and rooms are extremely nice. The view of the river was amazing! The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. If we ever get to go back to Queenstown we will definitely be staying at Nugget Point!
Room not cleaned properly, staff lovely amazing views
The hotel has some great facilities and the staff were helpful but, unless you are staying at thw weekend, there is no bar or restaurant. Without a communal meeting area the hotel feels lifeless and bland.
felt like we were in off season. high price for amenities. spa area was underwhelming and strange guests (very few) could not use or not working. views in room are amazing. comfy beds and spacious.
For the price we paid, felt it was too high, as the property is in need of a good clean and revamp.
There are so many mixed reviews for this hotel. Yes, it’s older and has seen better days but the rooms are clean and partially renovated with new bathrooms and heating systems. The beds are comfortable and we found the hotel peaceful. I can only imagine what it must have looked like in its heyday. What this hotel does have going for it are the most amazing views, make sure to get a river view room. The dining room also overlooks the river valley, very beautiful. The chef has put together a very nice menu featuring local items and well priced. The true asset to this hotel are its staff. The check in team were welcoming and the two Spanish restaurant staff were exceptional in their kindness and hospitality. We can’t thank the two of them enough for making our stay so special. We recommend this hotel.
The food is so good and the views from the room is the best I have ever seen. This is a five star hotel in our opinion. It was the best stay of my trip.
Gorgeous glitzy hotel. Heated indoor pool. Views of mountains and river. A treasure away from the Queenstown business.
This hotel is amazing. The view from the breakfest area is so beautiful. The staff are so nice and are always in a happy moody. My husband and i were trying to take pictures of ourselves outside the breakfest area and one of the servers/workers came out and offered to take us photos. It was such a nice expereince if I'm ever back in Queenstown, il be staying here. Just a bit outdated but a bit of renovations will make this place perfect!
Property has a great view and very close to Queenstown centre , great for activities. Needs improvement on few things , like having microwave in the room , having more washing machine and dryers . Overall we had a great time , staff are amazing and very helpful. 😊
Pros: - Cozy beds - Stunning views - Relaxing day spa with private pools - Invigorating water pressure - Pleasantly scented bath products - Proximity to onsen and Shotover jet - Spacious bath Cons: - Unpleasant odour in hallway and entrance - Aging and dirty carpet - Elevated and challenging bath/shower access huge step into bath - Old pipe smell in the bathroom - Lack of microwave for food heating - No air conditioning, resulting in heat at night - Delayed housekeeping
We enjoyed the lovely views from our balcony. The breakfast was fantastic with great service.
We had the Executive River Suite - a bit more run down than we had expected for the best room in the hotel. Fireplace wasn't working and the hottub took forever to fill and on the last night the water couldn't even get hot. Appreciate that we got a free breakfast but for the price we paid it's a shame it wasn't as high-end as we had hoped!
Easy check in. Helpful. A little dated but view was amazing.
Absolutely loved our staff here. Would recommend it to everyone
We enjoyed our stay despite the obvious need for an urgent upgrade of the place. Hope that happens soon. The rooms are a good size and practical except for the very high climb into the bath to have a shower. Not ideal. The river view is lovely. The restaurant area is pleasant and the food excellent. Well done to the chef. The ‘bones’ of this hotel is all there, must have been special in its day, now time to throw some cash at it.
This is one of the most beautiful and pleasant stays at a property I’ve ever experienced. The breakfast was amazing.
A good old property that has some excellent facilities but one that requires a lot of refurbishing. A special call out to the staff who go out of their way to make life better for their guests. In particular Mr. Ashwin, Front office manager should be given special praise for being professional and customer care oriented.
Nice and quiet, but not far from Queenstown. Very relaxing.
Outstanding views, great sized bed, comfortable and relatively good priced. Lovely staff and great facilities. Conveniently located just outside Queenstown but not in the hustle and bustle. Looking forward to our next visit!
Cozy and wonderful view.
In general it’s a nice place to stay, room was nice. Restaurant was pleasant.
Beautiful view. Helpful staff. Breakfast was great. Friendly, helpful and knowledge bar staff
Love that there was a pool, really enjoyed with my kids, the one downside here is the phone service is poor, even using room phone to call reception never went through. The open fire in the lobby is great but the smell of the smoke really effected my breathing during the night
Booked this accommodation for my parents to enjoy. They absolutely loved it. A couple of niggles with the room, but the staff rectified and accommodated them well. Thank you :)
Literally amazing - please stay here. If you've never stayed in the area book the river view also - it is so worth it!
Had a great holiday staying in the executive river view suite. The views were spectacular and the room very spacious. It’s an older hotel but has gorgeous architecture. The staff were lovely/very accommodating and the breakfast was always quick and delicious. It’s somewhat isolated but there’s a couple of places to eat next door and there’s an hourly bus for $2pp. The wifi was pretty poor and there’s limited cell service but if wasn’t a big deal. Overall we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend! It’s much better than staying in congested Queenstown!
The property was located close enough to tourist attractions in Queenstown.
The hotel was very nice and comfty. The only thing we didn’t like was the temperature of the pool, it was not warm en ought for the cold days in Queenstown
Ohh so disappointing.... in the hey day you use to pay $1,000 a night to stay here. It is so run down. It really is a shame with the surrounding stunning views. I couldnt even get a meal. You really cant charge what you do for the state of the rooms and the NO restaurant facility. Glamping at Nuggett Point.
Beautiful views from the dining room and river-front rooms. However, property is in need up updating rooms and overall building. The existing staff is very hard-working and was very friendly, but it was clear they were severely understaffed and overworked. The restaurant was closed 3 nights of the week, and when it was open, they only served "bar food." Breakfast was available every day, which was a welcome amenity. While the food was good, there was a sense of lack in terms of staff available and access to the restaurant. Given the location, views, and amenities possible, the property COULD be excellent with some attention, increased staffing, and much needed improvements. If that occurred, I would be happy to return.
A very enjoyable stay and we appreciated the assistance provided by staff when our hire care was iced up on the morning of our departure.
Dated room we had. Clean but needed updating.
Spa was fantastic, staff were lovely, room a bit dated, meals available were average. Wifi was great, bed a little too soft and no sky channels on tv
Great hotel, excellent staff and I loved the sauna. Fantastic value, will definitely come back
While the view was beautiful and the location is quiet and a 10 minute drive from Queenstown, our first room had a broken cupboard door and shower, and the bathroom wasn’t very clean around the edges and behind the door. The hotel staff were really helpful though and let us switch rooms to one which was much better (and cleaner).
Great staff
Nice friendly staff
The view from our Balcony of the river was stunning. Pool & steam room were lovely, unfortunately restaurant wasn’t open during our 3 night stay.
Nugget Point was located in a beautiful quiet area with scenic views. Also had a nice restaurant, well kept landscaped grounds, was clean, and had friendly staff. Although not many eateries around, this hotel was close to easy access to bus routes into town.
Amazing location and great facilities here. The staff were also very attentive professional.
My partner and I stayed there for one night in a Riverview room. The room was huge and grand and the view, breathtaking! Note that the bathtub was quite deep so it was a bit difficult to climb in for a shower if you are not a very tall person. We did have a slight issue checking in. We prepaid for breakfast but the hotel system didn’t show this. The hotel staff and the manager could have easily seen that what we paid would have included breakfast based on their advertised price. Instead, they insisted again and again that the booking didn’t include breakfast and offered 2 for 1 breakfast. Anyway, I had to contact the travel agent myself to confirm breakfast inclusion. There is a nice pub close-by. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at this beautiful place.
On arrival to our room there was blood on the curtains, toothpaste smeared on the bathroom wall, the tissue box was empty and no soap. The tv didnt have netflix or sky. We booked mainly for the facilities. The bar was not open the night we were there But then found out that the spa was broken and so was the steam room. Overall very disappointing
Great breakfast with an AMAZING view
Stayed for one night, but could have spent a week here. Beautiful location and a lovely and spacious room. Buffet breakfast was excellent and the view was fantastic. Only a 10 minute beautiful drive into downtown Queenstown. I would definitely stay here again on a trip to Queenstown.
Will most definitely be back
Friendly and efficient service, great decor and ambience, outstanding location with incredible views. Will most definitely be bank.
The hotel sits high above the Shotover River and the views from the breakfast/dining room of the river valley and the distant mountains are absolutely stunning. Although the spa area is very attractive and the spa pool was good to swim in, we were disappointed that neither the steam room or the hot tub were working.
The restaurant and bar is closed, the hot tub and sauna were not working. The room and views are amazing, staff great and the peace and quiet wonderful. Highly recommended!
Staff were absolutely lovely! Only shame was that the indoor spa was out of order for the trip but other than that loved my stay at Nugget Point :)
Staff that were present were lovely. Understaffed, restaurant and bar not operating except breakfast. Self catering not sufficiently accommodated in respect of amenities or equipment. Furniture dated and uncomfortable in the executive suite such as sofa springs and padding gone, end of bed bench stained, wifi insufficient for use, no instructions for operation of electrical and internal amenities. Noise levels as expected. Bed was extremely comfortable and view amazing. Overall, not to standard for cost of suite remunerated. Very tired grande hotel
We had a very enjoyable stay. Spa was lovely with amazing views
Loved my view of the shotover river and watching the boats
It was beautiful
It’s a beautiful location, we definitely enjoyed the beautiful views from our window, however the pipe below vanity was leaking bit by bit but it didn’t get solved during our three nights stay. The phone was broken during our stay, each time we called the lobby they couldnt hear us and they just hanged up not even calling back, we informed the lobby lady the night we arrived about the problem but it didn’t get fixed in the end.
Most of the advertised spa facilities were not available or broken. The rooms are rather jaded and poorly equipped - kitchens with no cutlery, no robes or toiletries. The advertised free wifi did not work. This should be a great hotel but it's clearly lacking care and investment. For the not inconsiderable price there are far superior properties in Queenstown.
Unfortunately, the property seems to have suffered while closed for COVID lockdowns. The buildings are in need of repairs and updates. The carpet are threadbare and ripping in areas in the rooms, the hallway and stairwell leading to the rooms had gum stains and was very dirty. Our couch was broken-in, sagging in the center, uncomfortable and looked dirty. When this was brought to the attention of reception they said they were waiting to refurbish the rooms. The rooms are in desperate need of new carpet, furniture, and overall updates (our kitchenette area had 1970s style cabinets and benchtop). The hot tub was closed for the entirety of our stay (3 days) with a sign that said chemical cleaning prevented the hot tub from being available. The steam room, pool area shower and pool was very nice. Alternatively private hot tubs could be booked through payments. The spa services (massage, facials, etc) unfortunately are only available from 9am to 5pm which is not ideal for those travelling during the day or booking tour events. The employees worked very hard to make time for us and even offered to come in early. The staff did their best to accommodate any changes and make our stay worth while. For the price our stay was fine and overall we enjoyed our time. It is an easy drive into town for activities, events and dining. The view from the river view rooms is worth the upgrade. The parking was slightly tight for an SUV going from reception to the parking lot but it was fine.
Spacious bedroom with a balcony and lovely mountain and river views. Peaceful & quiet
Great location. Love the rooms on Lvl 1. Beautiful views and love the spa and pool.
Friendly staff, clean and large room, quiet and fairly easy to get into town with a car. Great pool and spa-tub with a decent view.
Wonderful location and great staff
Nugget Point was beautiful from the River View Room but dissapointing from our initial Garden View Room. The garden view was the driveway. The "king" size bed was only a queen. BUT then we transferred to a River View Room and spend so much time sitting on the balcony admiring the amazing view. The Resort is dramatically understaffed (as is much of Queenstown at the moment) and it shows. The place needs a good clean up (inside and out), but has great bones and "oh that view"! The public bus is very handy, but due to understaffing, doesn't always arrive as scheduled, so check the transit app to confirm. Without regular buses, you really need access to a car to get to town. Overall a lovely stay. The Spa room (wading depth pool, hot tub and sauna) were beautiful. The food was delicious.
A beautiful river view, very comfy bed and super helpful staff!
This would be most ideal with people that is travelling with a car - we were bussing, so it was more inconvient since the location was more remote, but that was poor planning on our side haha, but thought people should be aware. The only thing i didnt like was that there was no air con within the room! So it gets quite stuffy. Otherwise it is a nice and quite place to stay, if staying i think it is more worth it to book the river view rooms, because the garden view is just facing around the car park ahah, and you can hear people talk
Awesome
I didn’t understand how the lights worked but someone was there to help. There was a what looked like blood stain in the bathroom floor. I didn’t mention it.
The property is nice, however there are a few of the amenities that need updating such as the TV and to have an air conditioner unit added to the rooms, as well as a lift. The view was absolutely spectacular and room size is extremely generous. However if you don't have a river room view you really do miss out. The staff were very friendly however as they were short staffed it was hard to get in contact with them at reception.
The pool and hotpools area are amazing.
Amazing view and calm and quiet place, very rich vibs
Very luxurious appearance. Great sized bed and very comfortable. However, had to tune in the TV and no guide to it or any information booklet or reading material in room at all. No extra pillows or blankets in wardrobe. Loved the toiletries and the dispensers on wall are excellent.
a lovely place to stay. Loved having the pool and sauna spa. Delicious meal . Would definitely stay again
BACK TO GORGEOUS South Island
We were greeted at the door super friendly and professional check in..The hotel has amazing facilities and our view from our room was to die for. Pool ,sauna and spa 5 star. The room could of done with a thorough carpet clean and the furniture a varnish . A microwave with some plates and some cutlety would of been a given for this room as it wasn't the cheapest but the view made up for it.
We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday and there was no at Reception to help with check in. We waited and no one came. There was no bell to ring and we ended up calling the hotel to try and get someone to help us check in. There was no reply. After waiting for about 15-20 minutes another guest took pity on us and went and found someone in the spa. The air conditioning is not individually room controlled and we found the room too hot and the bed too hard. The shower stall leaked as part of the lower door seal was missing. The restaurant was closed while we were there due to short staffing. We were advised that it was going to be closed a couple of the nights we were staying, in the week leading up to our stay, but it was closed the whole time. It would have been great to have had an evening drink and meal and enjoy the view but we were unable to even sit in the restaurant and take in the view. The location is spectacular. The entry to the resort is very poorly lit and we drove past it twice in the evenings because we missed the driveway. We worked out that if we used the good signage of another place opposite we could mahi out where to turn. The room was clean and tidy.
Great view of the river and the surrounding hills. Enjoyed the spa and movie theatre. Great and helpful staff. The resort is quite dated. No in-house info about the resort facilities. Our room did not have WIFI, TV remote did not work, TV has only two channels and the telephone did not work.
Nugget point
Lovely stay, room better than expected, friendly helpful service, great amenities, quiet and great location. very happy
perfect veiw
Nice place with nice facilities but I woke early to soak in the hot tub and watch the sunrise but pool facilities don’t open until much later. This is disappointing as we were only there one night and couldn’t make full use of the facilities.
Great view. Large rooms. Great service.
We did thoroughly enjoy our two night stay. Staff were all frendly and helpfuly. We stayed lower level with river views. And although you are paying for the views the rooms and some facilities are so old and rundown the place could definitely do with a renovation. Location was perfect, it is 13mins to Arrowtown and 15mins into Queenstown. There are busses which run on the hour into Queenstown from basically out side the gates or it was only a $28 uber ride. Which is perfect for enjoying that care free night out in Queenstown. Definitely a 7/10 stay.
good
I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Day 1 - no water Day 2 - contractors drilling on site all day. Fire alarm goes off at 11.30pm due to the onsite manager being intoxicated. Got locked out of our rooms every day. No house keeping. This was honestly like a bad movie
Very tired
Short staffed, there was no room service, nothing was done to compensate this. Restaurant closed. A resort can't use excuse to be short staff to not delivery the basic conditions. Fire alarm rang 5am, a supposed "shortcircuit" in spa area. What's the maintenance condition of the place. Wonderful views, the few staff there were friendly.
Lovely place

Nice out of town center location
Dated facilities but clean and functional. Friendly staff. Awesome views! Hope to return.
