Cheap, basic accommodation

Stayed at Norfolk Towers Serviced Apartments for 2 nights at the start of a3 week family trip to Kenya. The apartment was big so we had plenty of space and it was conveniently located near the University and part of the city. It served our needs but the rooms were quite tired in look and feel - this might get to you if staying for much longer. Swimming pool was close and a decent size. There are no other amenities on site so you need to walk/taxi to town to get provisions. The WiFi was also quite patchy. Reception were helpful with organising our airport pick up etc.

Property is located in a convenient location if you are in Nairobi for business since it's walkable to down town Nairobi & the free way to the International Airport is close by. The staff here is great, especially the security team. Rooms don't have air conditioning so it can get really hot in the summer seasons...they provide a fan upon request. Laundry room is far off from room, if you are staying for long. Not a lot of entertainment option to view on the in-room tv. There's a pool. Property is close to road so morning can get noisy if window is open due to matatu traffic. No dining options here so you have to order food or drive/walk to restaurants in Nairobi.

Unfortunately I had to move into a 2 bedrooms because 1 bedroom block doesn’t have elevators. Staff was amazing especially Felicita who kept our apartment immaculate. Location was excellent due to close proximity to everything. Couches and beds could use upgrade. Wifi wasn’t too great but ok. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay and I would definitely stay there again. The apartments met our needs.

The staff from security, maintenance and receptionist are welcoming. Hotel is walk-able to downtown/central business district and easy access to main roads and expressway to airport if you drive. Hotel is affordable but does not have onsite restaurant, but has options to cook food in your room. You can request a fan if room is hot since there is no AC in room. Hot water provided. There is also a room and laundry room with wash machine, however no dryer but you can request a cloths line which you can set up on balcony/patio. Overall good experience staying here.

Great for families

Great accommodation. Short walk to town. Friendly staff. Nice big swimming pool which the kids loved. I've stayed there before and would stay again.

Working holiday but could not get work done because their systems were always down. No response to requests for help.

Ok Apartments horrible service

The apartments are ok but if you plan to get any work donr look elsewhere. The net or business office never works and no matter how many times you ssk for assistance no one cares. They have a technical support that works from home and the help they offer is telling you to wait till midnight and see if anything will work.

Norfolk Towers excellent accommodation

NTSA is fine place to stay, spacious and well furnished rooms, wifi functioning well and fine staff. Excellent for work as well as for holiday trips. Certainly value for money, also due self catering facilities.

I liked the size of the rooms.They were very welcoming and even gave us an upgraded room. The property looked dated especially the kitchen. It had the 1960s decor which was in contrast to the pictures i saw online.

Older property in a quiet part of Nairobi but easy access to downtown walking morning through early evening (don’t walk outside compound at night). Apartments with stove, fridge, cooking utensils and kitchen sink. Big room with sofas, balcony and plenty of room. Mosquito nets should be on rectangular frame and not round handing from ceiling. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and available 24/7.

The apartments are kept clean and the security is tight. The workers at the property, including the security guards conducted themselves in a professional manner and most importantly they were friendly and helpful. The apartments are conveniently situated very close to the city center (about 10 minutes walk); helps to avoid the annoying city traffic. Obviously, the property needs some updating - a coat of paint, new ironing boards and irons, etc. There are No elevators and so you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs, if you happen to get a room on the upper levels.

I stayed at a studio at the very top floor had to go up to 4th floor,security was perfect although no lifts, security guards did help with luggage and every time I had a visitor or delivery they would call my room to check and also accompany the guest to my room and made sure it was safe before they left, staff were very friendly too.

VERY CLEAN AND IN A GOOD LOCATION

I always stay at Norfolk Apartment whenever I come to Kenya, and this time was no different. It’s in a very good location, about 5 minutes walk into CBD. The receptionist and everyone are very friendly, the rooms are very clean. So I will recommend this place to anyone at any time.

They had no air conditioning so they had the windows opening. The room was full of mosquitoes.

Very pleasant and helpful staff members. The location is near the CBD and very convenient. I like walking to town to run errands and this proximity eliminates the need for public transportation. I only wish management could give the rooms a "facelift." (Equip the rooms with new mosquito nets, new trash cans in the bathroom, replace toilets, etc).

Wifi Issues

The WiFi in the room is totally unreliable. Plan for alternative if you need reliable internet.

Spacious Room with Excellent Staff

The apartment was spacious. The staff helpful to accommodate your requests. The security was excellent.

Nice serviced apartments close to city center.

Pro: Great location. Near city center. Uber and taxi service available. Very secure. We had a 3 bedroom apartment, rooms are spacious. Every bedroom had a mosquito net. You can grocery shop and prepare your meals. Large kitchen. Laundry washing machine available. Bring detergents. No dryer, there is a clothes line. Depending on season, your clothes will dry within a few hours on the line. Other reviewers complained about no hot water but once we figured out how to work the individual water heaters, we had plenty of hot water. Wi-Fi was sometimes choppy but worked enough for social media, email etc. Well maintained. Maureen our house keeper was extremely sweet. Daniel the night shift gate security was also very nice and accommodating. Overall, happy with the place. Cons: the con is not towards the hotel. There are No air conditioners in most of Kenyan facilities or homes due to the pleasant weather year round. It did get warm at night we had to keep the windows open however, this invited mosquitoes into the rooms and their buzzing was annoying while you try to sleep. The mosquito net works but not on the buzzing. Bring lots of repellant.

Good but steamy hot nights

The hotel is good and in a good location with excellent staff. The biggest problem is lack of air conditioner in the rooms. They provide fans but it still does nothing to bring the temperature down. I had nightmares because I couldn't sleep as comfortable as I had wanted.

Nice hotel close to Nairobi CBD:

Norfolk Towers is home for me every time I visit Kenya. Very friendly and helpful staff that has become family to me. The proximity to town makes it ideal for a quick walk to take care of business in town while avoiding the delays with public transportation. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Nairobi. The place is safe and secure and management is very accommodating.

Mosquitoes Everywhere, Plus Poor C/S

We stayed here for 2 nights during our short trip to Nairobi. On our first night, we had so many mosquitoes in the rooms, and on next morning we contacted front desk who were very rude, explaining to us that they ONLY spray insecticides when a guest request so, and it has to be on the first night. I told her that our room was never sprayed and we had an uncomfortable night as the result. Without any apology, she told us that she will have someone come over to spray our room in half an hour, which was OK and the person showed up with very little spray left in the bottle! hardly to spray even a bathroom!!!. We called again the front desk and explained our frustration, and within a few minutes they bring someone else, and it was the same story again!!! It would be nice to have a little shop in the compound or nearby where a guest can buy such item.

Had a good experience but was without hot water for a short time but other than that it was clean and well equipped with cooking facilities.

Well worth the money

Very helpful and polite staff Good clean rooms. There were no fans or AC in rooms but management provided pedestal fans immediately on asking. Taxis were available round the clock . Very safe and secure environment and location. Well equipped kitchen

Great self-catering apartments

Pros: spotlessly clean. Good security. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly and always helpful staff. Internet. We stayed here on two occassions and had two rooms each time. The L units first floor had excellent wifi. On the other hand the M units had very slow wifi. We were able to leave our luggage between the two stays. Cons: although the rooms were spotless and the linens clean, the shades and curtains were not clean and the bathroom had a little mold. The staff was very responsive Walking distance to university,national museum, central business district (10 minute walk), Synagogue (yes there is one in Nairobi), and a 24 hour supermarket. Cab stand 3 min

Clean and homely

It was short but practical and serene. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is also pocket friendly and gives a homely atmosphere, which is what my son and I needed.

Norfolk Tower Apartments Nairobi Review

I had a great experience for the price,safe quiet neighborhood,the only down side the rooms didn't have AC and was getting hot at night but upon request a fan was provided helped a little.Security was great and the biggest plus Uber cabs the best thing ever in Nairobi trips that cost 500 -1000 with Uber 300 for a 5 kilometer distance...

Nice hotel but disappointed by the hotel staff.

Not provided the rooms we booked and given a downsized room. We were told to find alternate arrangement as they could not keep their end of the bargain on our booking that was there 2 days later as well through Expedia. Thanks to our call to Expedia their tone changed and they gave us upgraded rooms on our return to the Norfolk serviced apartments from Ma sai Mara.

Convenient quick walk to city centre

They should provide a mosquito nets to each bed as part of the necessity.The three bedroom could be helpful with the phone extension in the master bedroom to avoid going up and down to communicate with reception.There was no bed light in the 3 bedrooms so imagine having to get out of bed to switch of the light then find where the bed is in the dark

Apt in Nairobi

It is very basic but clean and comfortable. The Internet doesn't work well and I didn't have hot water. But The staff are very nice.
