Beautiful quite spot, would highly recommend if looking to relax
Pool heater could stay on longer at night. Reception could answer the phones a little more. Grounds are always fantastic
The Niramaya property my partner & I spent a week away from the city bustle to relax in was beautiful! We were prepared to pay more for an Island-style getaway, and that’s exactly what we found there. The staff were welcoming and accomodating, the onsite restaurant and pool were never crowded and always delivered. We asked for a bit less noisy garden maintenance around us and the manager accommodated our request. We missed only one thing, the use of bicycles to traverse the area, including the beach and town. The third party hire scooters were expensive.
Outstanding service and quality accomodation
Love the villa, plunge pool, beds, kitchen, gardens and facilities. Can't fault anything
Exquisite experience we hope to repeat in the near future with some friends..
The staff were exceptionally welcoming, providing all required information. The villas themselves were very well appointed - they were large, with private pool and spa in our villa. Our stay there was very relaxing.
Amazing Villa, very private and spacious
Wonderful stay, staff were great. Villa was very private, spacious. Pool was great and private. Restaurant was amazing - undersold tbh, chefs there need a pay rise as food was 10/10 Only thing was mattresses and pillows were not as comfortable or plush as other places we've stayed at. Other than that 10/10
Peaceful, beautiful and spacious
Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Best holiday we have ever had. Perfect for families!!!
Divine property where the world just slows down and you can recharge the batteries. All staff were super helpful and the facilities were fabulous. Would definitely stay again
This is a superb property. The pools could be cleaner and the restartant menus could be broader. The restautant staff are superb. One female bar staff member attending the pool one day was snotty and detracted from an otherwise flawless stay. This is a 4.8-4.9 star experience
The villa we stayed in was beautiful. Spacious, quiet and private, perfect for our honeymoon. The plunge pool was a true luxury - it was also nice to have full kitchen amenities and the garage for our hire car. It was just a short car ride to food options. We did find the pillows uncomfortable, the could use an upgrade. The The restaurant had limited options but the food was good and staff were always friendly and professional.
Beautiful resort. Reminded us of staying in Ubud. A little pricier but no need to travel overseas. We had a 2 bedroom villa with plunge pool and loved it. Restaurant food great and also had the option of bringing in food from town and cooking ourselves (had a great BBQ one night)
Great place to stay but the birds very noisy especially in the morning
The dishwasher didn't work in Villa 5 The breakfast menu was a little disappointing considering it was supposed to be ala carte breaky included in package. We paid good money to stay there.
Relaxation
Amazing, relaxing stay, private and great staff. The only issue was the next door villa had screaming kids on several occasions
It was a peaceful oasis, loved every minute, would recommend it to everyone
The size and atmosphere of the villa was incredible. Like being in a tropical oasis with so much space for all of us. Only downside was the hardness of the beds, the quality of (both) BBQ and the pool lights not working so we couldn’t swim at night
Loved staying at this beautiful property. It was very luxurious and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend
Niramaya - Tranquil and secluded stay in paradise
Niramaya is a tranquil paradise located a short drive from the centre of Port Douglas .Villas are situated in a beautiful garden setting and include their own private plunge pool and day bed. Villas have Foxtel, modern Smeg appliances, ceiling fans and air con if you need it. The ceiling to floor windows and folding walls/ doors really bring the outdoors inside. Our pool had a beautiful view of the lake and water features and fountains in and around the property, ensure you can hear running water everywhere you go. This was very relaxing! We didn't have any issues with insects during our stay (we stayed in July), but we did note that not all window louvers had fly wire behind them. The bathroom was very clean and spacious and included a huge shower and a lovely spa bath. The mattress on our bed was ok but could have been more comfortable. The futon bed was very close to the floor and surrounded by a frame made of large wooden slats. My partner and I slept relatively well during our stay but it was tricky to get in/out of bed and move around the room without tripping over this frame. Beds were only covered with sheets so we had to use slightly musty woollen blankets in the cupboard on cooler nights. The provision of 24 hour reception and better quality bed linen would enhance the Niramaya experience even further. Overall we really loved our stay at Niramaya and would highly recommend it if you can afford the considerable expense of staying at this beautiful oasis!
Loved the villa, quiet, private & with all the facilities we needed at the resort. Staff were friendly & helpful, breakfast at ChapterOne each morning was delicious. Looking forward to staying again.
It was a beautiful spacious property in a quiet surrounding but it was very difficult with young kids with lots of water features that were dangerous to kids under 3. Each unit also had their own pool which was fabulous though.
Incredible tranquil resort. Great food and service.
Stay here!
This place is awesome! Gorgeous design, lovely green spaces, gorgeous villas with top class pool, restaurant & spa facilities. Highly recommend this amazing place.
A wonderful hotel - truly luxurious. Superb private villa woth lots of space and a private plunge pool. Lots to di nearby. We did not wNt to leave.
Wonderful oasis in Port Douglas to escape the world and retreat into your own private tranquil world. Gardens are gorgeous, property is peaceful and relaxing. The Villas are extremely well appointed. The staff were extremely helpful and I would definitely return.
Excellent faciliities, surroundings & customer service. Also the restaurant & customer service were AAA+++ (6 star). Highly recommend resort!!!
On occasions the service for breakfast was poor. More happier faces serving breakfast could be a focus. Overall very happy though. A fantastic break.
Very peaceful surrounding, transport into town was good.In comparison to our stay here last year, we found standards had dropped. Restaurant no longer opens for dinner and breakfast was satisfactory but not 5 stars. Our room was serviced only once during our 7 day stay, last year it was daily. The front desk needs to more hands om deck during the peak part of the day.
A well appointed villa set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were friendly and attentive.
We had a wonderful stay, the staff were really helpful and friendly. The grounds to the property are amazing, I’d highly recommend this accommodation.
We loved the privacy . Especially having your own pool. The restaurant had a beautiful ambience when having breakfast. Also nice being a bit away from the business of McCrossen street
Beautiful villa, with all amenities in a great location just at the entrance to Port Douglas. Perfect for a week family trip. Good restaurant also on site.
Wonderful surroundings, very peaceful. Good idea to hire a car as it is quite far from the main drag.
Wonderful place to stay
This was a super deluxe holiday accommodation. The whole place is surreal and we loved the gardens and the plunge pool. It is expensive but worth it if you wish to have a few days to relax, maybe after a few days of adventuring in Cairns and Cape Tribulation.
Tropical paradise in the heart of Port Douglas
Good layout of villas around the central pool and reception means you don't feel like you are in a big resort. There is good security as both the car entrance and footpath entrance is gated and you need to enter in your passcode to open the gate. The onsite restaurant 'Chapter One' offers high quality food and an excellent wine list. Make sure you check your table bookings as there was a "mix up" with our reservation although we booked months in advance. The restaurant manager provided excellent customer experience. The restaurant is also open to the general public. We were allocated to a 3 bedroom villa (the other 2 bedrooms were locked up as it was only 2 of us). Whilst our villa (#7) was clean I felt that it was due for a little TLC - timber around the day bed needed to be stained again, stain on external timber and doors was wearing off and the raw timber coming through. I felt like there was a lack of general ongoing maintenance for villa 7 which I expected for a property of this calibre. It didn't impact on our experience but the condition of the villa was not in line with the price we paid. The telephone also didn't work as someone had damaged the cord that plugs into the wall. This was fixed by reception after it was reported Some villas such as ours back on to the main road that leads to Port Douglas. During the day whilst the water features were working you couldn't hear much car noise but at night once the water features are turned off you can hear some road noise.
Amazing, but left something to be desired
A very unique stay! The villas are huge. The facilities are awesome. The service was very good and everyone was laid back. My only gripe is the room itself could be more comfortable. Wasn’t a fan of the bedsheets, or the loud neighbors next door. They should also service the rooms more frequently than once in a 1 week stay.
Better than expected
Our stay at Niramaya was a standout. We were absolutely in love with our villa and we’re very happy with the amazing service from all the workers. I recommend this to anyone looking for a place to unwind and relax.
Stay @ Niramaya Villas and Spa
it was awesome great facilities and service and staff
Quiet and tranquil resort
A great place to relax and unwind. Restaurant could look at a more casual menu for lunch and more food on the plate for dinner. Plunge pool in 2 bedroom villa is refreshing but could be bigger.
Lush and tranquil setting.
We stayed for three nights over the Christmas holidays, the height of summer. We loved this resort, and our villa was amazing. Our daughter lived in the pool while my husband and I tried to get cool in the AC. Our complaints are similar to others here... the villa wasn't super clean when we checked in. It really just needed to be refreshed and swept. There were a lot of cobwebs and spiders/spider dirt in the corners and the floors were dirty. We did notify the front desk, and she offered to have housekeeping come, but we said no. Now seeing other reviews of the same exact issue, it disappoints me that the resort isn't changing their housekeeping practice. The beds were also very uncomfortable. They are asian style futon beds so they are low to the ground but the mattresses were hard and the sheets were a thick woven fabric and weren't very soft. Our only other complaint is that our villa faced east/west so we had the setting sun on the main part of the house, and it was impossible to cool down the kitchen/living area. The AC just couldn't keep up with the heat. I imagine this would have been a magical place in the winter months when you could keep all the windows and doors open to the breeze. We only interacted with then one staff member, and she was delightful. The restaurant was good and met our dietary restrictions for breakfast with no problem. This was a real splurge for us, and I hate that we were disappointed by cobwebs and a hard mattress.
Private relaxing villa
A really relaxing and large space, a few minutes’ drive to central Port Douglas. The wifi is terrible - mobile coverage is better if you’ve got enough data - and ours wasn’t perfectly cleaned. The living room and bedroom air conditioning could barely keep the rooms cool enough with all doors and windows closed, which was surprising, but we’re just enough to make it comfortable. Overall, a very enjoyable place to spend time.
Absolute bliss
My wife and three children recently stayed at Niramaya over the Christmas holidays and could not have been impressed. The villas were themselves were beautifully designed, well appointed, clean and mist importantly - tranquil. The villas are set in a stunning tropical setting and are completely private. From the moment we walked into Niramaya to the moment we reluctantly had to leave we were in paradise. In fact, we cut another part of our holiday short so we can go back to Niramaya for another two nights before we head home.
Great private villa
Enjoyed our stay, Villa had everything you could possibly need, everything 5 star, loved our own private pool As well as enjoying the main pool. Staff were excellent the spa was amazing , will definitely return
Ok stay-
We stayed in villa 16 cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch. Blinds mouldy , showers mouldy, fridge rusted, OK - restaurant chapter one wasn’t very welcoming towards children- they don’t service the villa at all you have to do this yourself annoying when your on HOLIDAYS. We were charged for portable cot $40?. Over priced for what it is. Pool fountain stopped working no one Bothered to fix it. Or clean the mouldy shower even though I called twice.
Restaurant manager was unfriendly and very unfair. Breakfast wasn’t buffet and ver poor quality and quantity.
Luxury in Port
Niramaya was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed, so luxurious and private. We’ll definitely be back!
A Superb Experience
The Villas are just exceptional ! Huge - modern -private - well appointed - and set in the most ideal location Breakfast & dining location and service was excellent Overall - a truly magnificent venue
Great Resort
Beautiful resort and great surrounds, highly recommended. A bit pricey though
Paradise found
My villa was my dream home. The space was amazing - feeling both luxurious, and comfortable. The architecture and interior design is contemporary and elegantly beautiful. And there is so much space! It's massive. It was also very private, as this one backed onto a wall of forest. I'd definitely stay here again.
Fantastic Hotel
Great hotel, will definitely be going back to this property. Well appointed rooms, spacious and comfortable, full kitchen and barbecue, indoor/outdoor seating and dining areas.
Beautiful Villas
Everything about my stay was amazing. Staff, Villa, weather, just wonderful. The only thing I can fault (and I understand it's a part of the natural environment and therefore nothing can be done to alter it) but the dawn chorus, which commenced at 530am was incredibly loud. Perhaps a rear bedroom or a villa not water side would help, but I found it impossible to sleep past this wake up call. As I was staying there to rest and relax, it did impact this a fair amount. Having said that though I would still highly recommend Niramaya and would stay there again, I would just request a Villa away from the water.
Beautiful gardens and great design
The resort has beautiful gardens and great design, but it is let down by cheap fittings and a bit of shoddy building work.
Family retreat
We had an absolutely fantastic time at our villa. Having our own private plunge pool meant the kids could easily entertain themselves allowing us to also relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounds!
An outstanding resort with excellent amenities. We'll be back before you know it!
So close to being great, oh so close!
Great villas, with everything you'd ever need. Ours had a pool, 4 showers, 3 toilets, 2 dining areas, 3 sitting areas and was built to an incredible standard. Unfortunately the pool heater was broken for most of the stay and the bed in the master room had an awful mattress and base - meaning I woke up every morning with back pain. Two things that were villa specific, but took the edge off of what would have been a perfect break.
Beautiful resort and exceptional staff
The resort was gorgeous. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cut our trip short. The staff were incredibly helpful and understanding.
Self contained Villa has all that you need
Enjoyed our stay and was a very comfortable place to stay. A little out of the way from the main shopping street - this may not suit everyone. We had a car so not much of a problem. Private pool is very nice and the surroundings are excellent. Was not too busy when we went which made the stay pleasant.
Beautiful luxury villa
So happy with this place I will definitely come here again! It's such a beautifully designed space perfect for relaxing. Only the bed sheets were too thin and the extra blanket they had made me sneeze so I couldn't use it. But I'm more of a quilt type of person so it's probably just me.
port douglas stay
great place to chill out and staff were always positive and helpful ... we will be going back.
It was a nice setting. Staff were ok. Did not find it suitable with little children.
Amazing
Amazing villa! Plunge pool was incredible and we loved staying there, will definitely be back!
Luxe Port Douglas escape
My husband and I enjoyed our 4 night stay in a 1br villa at Niramaya. The hotel facilities including the pool, the spa, breakfast and pool-side drinks and lunch served by the new restaurant were all top quality. The location is great for a quiet, relaxing escape being a short drive out of the main town. The shuttle service were prompt and polite when we needed a ride for dinner. The villa we stayed in was directly across from the main pool which was a little annoying. There were also a few annoying quirks like the rusting, beeping freezer that wasn't quite cold enough. There were no instructions for the cook top (thank goodness for YouTube tutorials) and there was no way to listen to music (except an out-dated ipod dock) or connect our laptop to the TV to watch Netflix. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay. Would come again!
Amazing!!
We rented the 4 bedroom villa and loved every moment! Private pool, 2 bbqs and so much space! Staff were excellent
If only we had more time!
We were two families who stayed at Niramaya for three nights during what was a bit of a whirlwind visit of Port Douglas, the Daintree and Cape Tribulation area. Our unit was beyond amazing with a huge master suite on the second floor, three more bedrooms on the main floor, a big kitchen, splash pool, front courtyard with soothing fountain, 2 car garage... The main pool was lovely (if a little warm for the season) as well with fantastic open views of the sky to bird and bat watch. Unfortunately, we didn't get to take advantage of the tennis courts or golf carts to visit the other nearby resorts. Hopefully we'll return for longer next time.
Private luxury
Fantastic luxury with our own private plunge pool! Great facilities, great location. Port Douglas is hot and sticky in summer tho!!
Never come back
Our Villa was trespassed by someone in the last night we stayed there. Luckily we kept all our valuables in our rooms and only some food in the open kitchen was lost. We heard noise during the night and though it was animal now we realized it was someone who tried to open garage door manually.
Stunning property sadly let down with poor service
Fantastic property, well appointed & maintained gardens. However rooms need more attention to detail eg. spider webs, stains on soft furnishings, poor kitchen & bathroom cleanliness. Wifi is woeful & breakfast provided is poor. Not great value for the high price.
Huge Villa, private and great location
Very quiet at the time of year we went (end November). The villa was very spacious.
Gorgeous retreat, ridiculously loud
The facilities and staff are impeccable. Stunning resort. One night they decided to host a wedding in the center complex. It was so loud I couldn't even sleep with all the doors and windows shut. Had that not happened, it would have been perfect. If you are looking for the most beautiful place in Port Douglas, this is the place. If you are looking for a quiet spot, you'd probably get better sleep at almost any other place. Before you book, be sure to request they share their upcoming wedding / reception/ event schedule, unless you don't mind staying up past 11 pm and hearing loud music all night that you cannot block out.
beautiful luxury villa
stunning self contained villa with beautiful open plan area. will certainly be back!
superb villa
we can not rate this property high enough. we travel frequently and this is by far the most amazing place we have stayed at. The grounds where immaculate, the staff friendly , extremely helpful and happy. The 3 bedroom villa we stayed in was sensational . We travelled with our 2 children and a single friend . We all had our own en- suits in our rooms , plus another powder room, master with spa bath and it's own outdoor shower, the privacy was terrific. A separate lounge , kitchen and laundry meant that no one was disturbed by the other persons activities. Miele appliances throughout , bose surround sound system in the living and out door area.Private infinity plunge pool was to die for. Manicured gardens with water features and tranquil lighting . The only negative would be the restaurant failed to keep on top of the buffet at breakfast time , everyday, we , along with other guests had to ask for plates , glasses , butter , oj , etc. Every request was promptly and politely honoured but it was a bit annoying to have to ask. Overall this was a beautiful , classy , relaxing resort and we would highly recommend it.
We stayed in a two bedroom villa. It was fantastic and great after staying in regular hotels. Felt like a luxury home.
Beautiful luxurious property. Our stay was perfect Thanks to the team at Niramaya Villas & Spa Port Douglas
