What was represented on the website is not what we experienced. Our rooms were not in the hotel proper but outside behind the hotel in what appeared to be temporary or modular construction. ( On the ground level, these rooms were noisy (both from outside and between room walls, which were paper thin).The rooms had a secruity/privacy fence around them, but it gives the allusion of being in a cage. No views whatsoever. Black mold on ceiling in bathroom. We requested room changes, but we couldn't be accommodated. A request for a call back from the hotel to discuss our concern never occurred. Plenty of better places to stay. I

Lovely hotel and staff. Breakfast was nice although the fruit was a little tasteless. The staff at breakfast was friendly but would t remove the used plates.

Amazing staff

The staff is amazing. Specially the waitresses in charge of the breakfast. They went the extra mile everyday to make sure we enjoyed a good breakfast.

This hotel is in drastic need of an upgrade with the prices they charge obscene for the quality of the rooms. The decor looks like a kids just slapped some paint onto the wall in random corners, the bathrooms are outdated, there were hairs in the bathroom which made me doubt the cleanliness of the room, etc. Location is good but the price reflects the fact that it’s in an area with a lot of business travelers and that it’s a straight shot to the stadium. If neither of those are you, better to go elsewhere.

Great location within Madrid, excellent service, dogs are treated like princesses (not very usual in Spain).

It was a very good experience - nothing to complain.

spacious room, high ceilings. marble everywhere. fancy place. walkable to major attractions, the subway, and the tour buses.

Nice stay. Just make sure you ask for a room with a view. Otherwise, you’ll be looking at the walls of the inner court. The breakfast waiters were very attentive. And always with a smile.

Staff is fantastic everyone so helpful, Fransisco and the concierge were wonderful. Dining room staff outstanding, if we are ever in Madrid this is our go to place to stay!!!

Great hotel with excellent customer service. Just a 5 minute walk to many cafes which are in the heart of a beautiful part of Madrid. We are returning in 2 weeks!

For us it was very convenient location! Around there are a lot of options of restaurants and shops. Also you have Gregorio Marañón metro station a few steps away. We enjoyed our stay.

El hotel está en una avenida principal, es fácil de llegar. El staff es excelente, te sientes en un hotel de categoría. La cama es cómoda y tiene muchas almohadas, dormimos muy bien. Lo único que no me gustó fue que encontré la habitación pequeña para el tamaño de la cama y el baño muy grande con bañera. Sin embargo, la estadía fue muy buena y pudiera regresar.

Excellent service, great location to walk around. The bar service is excellent specially Bogdan and Juan they are very professional and nice. We truly enjoy our stay and definitely come back again to this hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable beds. The front desk personal were extremely professional and they know how to make it the best experience in Madrid.

The entire staff at the NH Collection Madrid did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome and attended to without overdoing it. They were able to get us a room even though we landed at 6:00am and check-in isn't until 3pm which we so appreciated.

Prices are too high for the type of hotel

It was such a shame that we had a very good experience overall, right up until check out, The check out experience was so utterly frustrating with one particular individual that I did not even take my bill, he did not listen, constantly was talking over me. In the end, I didn’t even want the bill, which I normally submit for expenses , I would rather pay myself than continue to have such a frustrating experience!! The worst part is we have just started a new project in Madrid so will be there monthly and now we need to find a new hotel..

Amazing hotel. Fabulous, helpful, friendly staff.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, close to fine shopping and dining. Its rooms are very nice and its staff is friendly and helpful. On top of that, we loved the food at the Domo restaurant. Stayed there three times and would likely stay there again should the opportunity arise.

Good locations

Very good location, friendly staff and great hotel. The only “but” is that the bar was closed way too early.

The staff were quite rude and service was very slow whether at reception or in the bar/restaurant. The hotel emailed me before I arrived to ask if I had any particular requests: the only thing I requested was a double bed rather than two single beds. I didn’t get a response at all and I arrived to find two single beds. Supposedly the rooms are all sound-proofed but on my first night I was kept awake by someone in the next room speaking on the phone until I asked them to stop at 3am. The location was pretty good and the wifi was also good. There was also one very nice lady who was working at the bar one afternoon and (without me requesting) gave me my drink for free because she acknowledged I’d had to wait a long time. Overall really over-priced and disappointing.

Bad dirty hotel

The website is misleading in terms of the type of room you get with dogs. We were allocated a dingy ground floor room - we thought we’d get a roof terrace. They said hotel full and only room available - seemed unlikely. Beware the rooms they allow dogs into are not good for the price. The electricity shorted in our room for some reason and they put us in room next door and that had no air con and we couldn’t open the window as handle broken. Two of us and one set of towels. Shower sprayed water all over the place and the seals looked dirty and in need of renewal like the whole hotel. The car parking is not one site some 10 minute walk away. The light shades over reception dirty and coated with dust. A bad impression. Avoid this place!

NH Collection Hotels - another great one!

This (like NH Collection hotels I have stayed in) is a great hotel. I had a City View room - large and spacious, light and airy, nice decor, great bathroom and large shower cubicle. Cool bar area too. Breakfast was nice cold buffet with lots of choice, but happy to prepare you anything you want hot. Room also has a sofa bed so plenty of room for four people if you were with kids. Location good too (happens to be next door to my office so perfect for me!). Colleagues were staying at a more expensive hotel about a mile away and were jealous of the set up and the bar compared to theirs! I would recommend these over standard rooms - they are about £20 a night more but some of the standard rooms only open out into an internal atrium and have no outside windows. Highly recommend this and all other NH hotels in Madrid.

The property is currently covered in scaffolding and a mash in the whole of the front due to some maintenance. This was not mentioned on booking nor the website at time of booking. Even if you request rooms at the back, there is another major construction taking place nearby which will disturb. The AC in the rooms did not work.

at hotel but not close to the center of Madrid

The hotel is very nice and clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet offers a great variety of food. The service is excellent. However, it is located 15 min away from the center of the city and we had to pay between 10-15 euros each way for the taxi to go to the center.

Clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed. Not a great variety of channels on TV, but we did not stay in the room for most of our tip to Madrid. I wasn't able to visit many of the amenities of the hotel. The breakfast id very good. Great location close to metro.

It was very clean. However, temperature inside room was uncomfortable.

NH our new favorite hotel chain.

I'm giving excelent across the board because in fact, we saw that our shower had a mold issue,and when I told the front desk they offered to change our room immediately. When I told them that we had a tour and we were leaving imminently, the staff said no problem. When you arrive back we'll do it right away. When we returned there had been a change of staff, and the new shift was prepared for our room change. It should be like this every where but so often it is not. This is our second stay at an NH property in Spain and it is our new favorite chain.

Our stay was very nice. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. My only complaints are that the safe malfunctioned andnwe were unable to use it. Also, when I asked for a late checkout, I was told that we’d have to pay $20€ to stay past noon.

Great Business Class Stay!

What a great stay!! I booked a Superior room but asked for an upgrade to a balcony jr. suite. The Hotel staff was so kind and offered me an upgrade for a small cost. My room had a terrace overlooking the main street. It was amazing! I always stay here for work but this was the best experience yet. Thank you to the kind front desk staff!

It’s not crowded at all. The room is clean but quite little.

Easy to get to various areas by metro walking distance to restaurants. Enjoyed out stay.

Wonderful hotel in a quiet neighborhood

Very clean, modern amenities in an historic building in a quiet residential neighborhood. Friendly, efficient staff. Three different metro stations within a two block radius. A few metro stops from the historic center and the golden triangle. Numerous very good eating establishments (cafes, tapas bars, restaurants) and grocery stores in the neighborhood. Only small negative is slow wifi. Would gladly stay here again.

Good hotel close to 2 subway stations

Very nice hotel, great shower. The breakfast was good. I like that the hotel is close to 2 subway stations so you can easily get around the city, and also easily to/from the airport. The only downside is that the free internet is not so fast. At other hotels I’m able to watch videos/TV online, but not at this hotel. For faster internet you need to pay extra. I noticed that at other NH Hotels they got the same issue. This is something that makes me think twice about staying at an NH Hotel in the future.

My second stay in this hotel, and so I knew what to expect. Staff were very friendly though not all spoke great English. Lovely feel to the hotel. Elegant restaurant area and lounge. Breakfasts were beautifully presented, and the gluten-free hot crusty baguettes were a welcome extra. Not specifically this hotel, but generally in Soain, vegetarian food is very limited and basic. Only main fault with hotel bedroom was its lack of any drawers! Not a particularly good design from thst point of view. Otherwise the bedrooms and beds in particular were very comfortable.

Beautiful hotel , right next to the metro line

We loved this hotel. Design and architecture were stunning. Staff were lovely and our room was ready early. Great links on the metro - runs along blue 10 line which can take you to the town centre, zoo , football stadium and more without changing lines so was perfect for us. Food in hotel was wonderful, and not to overly priced to have it delivered to your room. My only dislike was that we paid for a room with a view which was beautiful, however the street noise was excessive all night and there didnt appear to be any soundproofing. Also air con wasn't very good. The room itself was lovely though and bathroom too. I would defo stay again if we go back to madrid. Airport was only a 15 minute taxi drive.

Beautiful building at a very reasonable price.

Loved it. This building is well maintained with a beautiful & elegant art decor interior. All amenities were more than sufficient. The pros were it's location, clean building, friendly staff and comfy beds. The only con was the heater in the room was not warm enough for the cold winter. But apart from that, this is an eccellent hotel for both business and leisure.

Comfortable and convenient. Quiet, bed was comfortable, room was clean. Enjoyed the Nespresso, since I have one at home and know how to use it. Might be confusing for the uninitiated.

The wifi is completely useless

While I liked the hotel and the staff the fact that the wifi is completely useless makes this hotel useless for any modern traveler. 800ms ping and less than 100kbps download speed isn't even enough for basic social media and means that any business traveler will be relying upon their roaming cellular connection. This is a real shame because everything else in the hotel is lovely but being cheap on wifi is just such a silly thing to do for a hotel in the modern world.

NH Collection Madrid - very good overall

The NH Collection Madrid Abascal was very pleasant and we very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We used the bar a couple of times which was nice, quite a cool atmosphere. We had a private terrace which was great for relaxing at the end of a day in the City and made up for a slightly smaller bedroom than we might have expected. Location was great for getting into the main hotspots, e.g. Opera, Sol, Retiro Park and Bernebeu. Would defnitely recommend.
