Super clean, and the staff was super friendly.
Historic hotel within the Old City near Jaffa Gate. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is typical for Jerusalem and quite good.
AMAZING location, service, and memorable hotel
Amazing LOCATION & VERY GORGEOUS historic hotel. Great place to stay in the OLD CITY - steps from everything & easy to get to modern Jerusalem - mall/drug stores/chain hotels to meet tours/ .. Family run & owned- as a single female I felt safer than other hotels I stayed in Israel. Super polite, excellent service & helpful with whatever questions I had or breakfast food requests (For a nice surprise , the including breakfast was so fresh, delicious, and tons of choices). I stayed during Purim AND Ramadan -not planned, I was volunteering in North and had 4 days off —- it was incredibly LOUD at Jaffa gate , hence in my room—- ask to stay in interior rooms if busy weekend. I had a fabulous room overlooking Tower of David, but that’s where the all night Purim Disco was. DO NOT miss their rooftop. AMAZING views of Dome of the Rock & all old city ( incredible at night) .
Experience the Old City
This place had an eclectic Middle East feel to it with the decor to match. Cannot beat the location if you want to be in Old City Jerusalem. Within walking distance of the Israel Museum. Taxis right out front. Market right outside. Fantastic staff. Tons of stairs.
The staff at the property is nice. The gentleman at the front who checked me in and checked me out was so helpful. Helped me with my luggage because there is no lift. The breakfast is good too. The property itself needs improvement. Very old. The pipes had brown water coming out both sink and shower. I don’t usually complain but they said that was fine and to let it run. I couldn’t wait to check out. The lady who cleans the room was banging on my door since 9:30am to clean the room when checkout isn’t till 11am. I felt extremely rushed to leave. The location is great but would never stay here again.
Very good location
Great hotel. Beautiful. Clean. Amazing breakfast. Super friendly owners and staff.
It is in the best location, close to everything. Beautiful rooftop with the old town view. The staff where great, polite and helpful. Thank you
Stop searching and book immediately!
The New Imperial Hotel is your best find for a proper stay in Old City Jerusalem. It's steps away from Jaffa Gate and the Holy Sepulchre. The hotel is easy for Gett and other taxi apps to locate / service and the value for what you receive at this hotel is incredible. The rooftop is a perfect spot for sunset sips and the included breakfast was beyond what I have received at most Marriotts and Hiltons.
Great place to stay in the old city.
A very beautiful place to stay...a little piece of heaven. Super nice staff. An excellent breakfast with so many options. The lemonade was sooo good. Close to everything imaginable..shopping, religious sites and some great falafels and Turkish food. I came to Israel to volunteer and will definately come again and stay at this wonderful place. Thank you!!!
Outstanding hotel with the most amazing views of all the area landmarks. It's like living inside the most historic museum with all the amenities of a modern hotel. The building itself is a historic structure that gives you the feel of time travel and the good vibes of middle eastern hospitality. The staff are extremely warm, helpful and welcoming. The generous and high quality breakfast was exactly what we needed after a busy day of travel. We will be back again for sure!
The room was simple, but spotless. When I first arrived, I was greeted by a receptionist with a smile that was filled with a genuine happiness that I made it. She made me feel like i was a member of the family visiting. What was awesome is that she wasn't the only member of the staff to treat my like that. Every staff member I came into contact with was genuine and glowed with happiness. My room was very simple, but spotless. You could eat off the floor. I was using a cane due to recovering from an injury, and the staff tried to help me. They did so not because they had to, but because they wanted to. I have stayed in many hotels before i retired and was quite impressed by this one. Thank you for everything
We stayed for one night and loved it. Great location next to Jaffa gate.
This is an old property with many upgrades. Unfortunately with the war, the collapse of tourism has taken its toll. Our room needed some maintenance attention that was handled immediately and they upgraded us for our inconvenience. The staff and owner were incredible. The access to Old Jerusalem made it worthwhile to be able to walk the markets and landmarks. Whe the balcony is nice, the sound from the Tower of David across the street made some nights unbearable. The staff and locals all complain but the venue continues to hold late night rock concerts. I would recommend to couples that can handle the active scene.
Great location and very helpful staff. Great stay!
The Imperial was a great place to stay, I’d book it again without hesitation. Rania and the team of staff are great hosts. The building is quite unique and location perfect for exploring the old city…. Just 10 mins walk to the Western Wall, rampart walks both 1 min away, taxi rank opposite hotel, Roots and Nafoura are great dining options.
Highly Recommend
Love the history of the place. The room is as it was described. Staff were friendly. Very convenient to the new and old city. Would come back. Highly recommend
My Pilgrimage to draw nearer to God
My stay was great! The staff is kind, friendly, helpful. The owner is a wonderful person, seeking to please his customers. The breakfast was varied, fresh, and healthy. Room was good, bed comfortable, all that was needed. Location excellent to all sites, I walked the entire time to all locations. Wear comfortable shoes, a lot of steps and steep walking. Favorite bakery Neemans.
This hotel has a superb location and plenty of character. It was surprisingly quiet at night. The sheets were tip top clean. Step out of the door and begin touring. For an early visit to the holy sites it is hard to beat - be back for the nice breakfast buffet. - However, the hotel shows its age. There is no elevator. It is pretty run down. Those who can cope with those conditions an unforgettable view of the old city awaits from the rooftop patio.
The hotel is in a great location for the main points of interest in the old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s an old property and has some quirks and unique features which is part of the charm. Would stay again.
The people are extraordinary lovely here.
This hotel is very unique in the personal touch every aspect of it demonstrates. The people are lovely and the location couldn't be better.
The place was clean and central located!!! Excellent place to stay
I’m not sure I have ever been so pleasantly surprised as I was here. My group of 5 loved everything about this place. The owner & staff are awesome. You could even get American style coffee (a rarity in Israel).
Excellent location Staff was great!! Highly recommend
The personal was very friendly and h
I realize the property is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, but the air condition in the room was not working properly which made it uncomfortable to sleep. There were also no elevators that worked which we had to carry 2 large suitcases up and down the stairs.
Excellent location, very mediocre hotel.
Breakfast was barely edible. Hard and dry eggs in tins, cucumbers and other vegetables that were clearly cut a day or two beforehand. Location by the Jaffa gate in the old city is excellent, and the staff was polite and helpful. The room was not clean, found hairs everywhere, and clearly needed a thorough going over.
First time I came to this hotel and me and my family love it. The employees are friendly, they make you feel home. It is very clean, breakfast are delicious and plenty of variety is quiet and convenient. I am planing to come back and I will definitely come back again.
This was our second stay and again, we give them 5 stars all around - value, location, breakfast, cleanliness but most of all, the service. Heads up: no elevator and at least 1-2 flights to get to the guest rooms. Will definitely stay here again for our next visit to Jerusalem.
The property is beautiful close to everything we wanted to see, however it is old, shower was broken but still worked. We didn’t spend much time indoors so it was perfect for our trip. Breakfast is great ! Staff super friendly!
You cannot beat the location of the New Imperial Hotel! In addition, the breakfast was delicious and sophisticated. The dining room where breakfast is served is bright and elegant. The staff was beyond polite and accommodating, especially the front desk staff. They did all they could and then some to enhance our stay. The rooftop patio was spacious and afforded an amazing view of the Citadel and Tower of David right across the street as well as the Dome of the rock and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I cannot wait to return to this hotel. 5 stars! (The only negative is that there was no elevator, but this did not pose a problem for me)
Beautiful hotel, perfect location for walking the old city 😍
MR REZA
I stayed there for a week. This hotel is near one of the entrance gates of the city. It’s in very good location. It’s a clean hotel with very good and friendly staff and clean environment. I was staying the side of the city entrance with a balcony in the evening I enjoyed the view of the entrance of the city from the balcony. At the top of the hotel is place to sit and watch the surroundings . I had great time.
Staff is VERY nice, and very well located -walking distance from every attraction.
Awesome hotel. Great location!
Very welcoming staff. Quietness of hotel depended on tourists and the awareness of their surroundings while retreating to their rooms. Normally, it was quiet after 11 pm. Bathroom was new and clean. AC was working and was necessary in July. Continental breakfast was included.
This property located right next to Jaffa Gate is easy to walk everywhere in the old city of Jerusalem. The historic building is much unique and interesting. The rooftop is amazing for the night view of the city.
I booked this hotel because it is a stone throw away from the Jaffa gate and a right in the middle of everything that is Old City Jerusalem. We had a balcony that overlooked a bustling street that my enjoyed especially late in the afternoon. There are several small grocery stores, restaurants, and ATMs, right outside the hotel and some are even below the hotel. The saving grace of this hotel is its location. I was so disappointed that this hotel appeared to have been abandoned by who ever was managing it. The reception area is in the second floor. You go to the side of the building, then you get buzzed in by some invisible person. Good thing the street vendor close by showed us what to do so we can get inside the hotel. Nobody was by the door, we had to climb up a long flight of stairs with our luggage. No elevator. Once we got up, checking in was fast and easy. We got a suite with one bedroom. The bigger room where the mini kitchen was had a TV that was mounted in an odd position, mounted by the head of the bed. So you have to lie down with your pillows on the foot of the bed. The electricity outlet in the kitchen did not work, at least not both. We had to unplug the refrigerator every time we heat up water for tea or made some coffee/espresso. The other room had an espresso/coffee maker on table with no electricity outlet to plug it in, so what was the point of that??! The room was clean, housekeeping lady was very nice and friendly. Breakfast was very limited.
Great location easy walking around old Jerusalem. I would definitely stay again. Everything is walking distance Christian quarters.
Very good service
Location, location, location (plus rooftop views)
This is a charming hotel in the perfect location, with an incredible rooftop area and very helpful service. I'll mention a few small downsides but then say why I think it is such a great place to stay. The biggest downside (which really didn't bother me, but might some people) is that, unless I misunderstood badly, you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet but have to put it in a bin instead. The bin is lined and has a lid, so it's really not bad, but takes some getting used to. A second downside, which I'm sure was my fault, is that I never figured out how to get the shower to be hot. I bet if I had asked at reception they would have told me how it works. Thirdly, and finally, my room was advertised as small and it was. But it was perfectly big enough for me, the bathroom was pretty big, and I paid a low price because the room was smaller. So, really not much of a downside at all. The best things about the hotel are the location (right next to the old city, so easy to walk to the main things you want to see and convenient for taxis, restaurants, etc.), the friendly service, and the amazing rooftop, which allows you to see the whole city. At night the Citadel (aka Tower of David) puts on a light show with music, and you get a perfect view from this rooftop. I'm not sure how anyone else would ever see it, so it's as if there were a show just for guests at this hotel. It's magical. There is also a big pair of binoculars so you can get a closeup view of the Temple Mount.
Great location! Inside the Old City.
Loved the ambience and decor. It felt like taking a step back in history but not old. Staff was friendly and helpful. Perfect location. I would definitely stay here again.
I loved this funky, ancient hotel in its billion-dollar location, but physically-challenged visitors need to know that it is all stairs, and too old and awkward to be fitted with an elevator let alone a ramp.
There is no elevator at all. Reception area is on the second floor. All rooms are on the second and third floors. Bed was really hard, it was one mattress on a wooden bed, no box spring. Reception personnel were rude. Breakfast attendants were really nice!!
Amazing location. Wonderful helpful staff
The owners/staff were super helpful and nice. There was tea available the whole time and they let us hold our luggage in their storage room after we checked out.
Simply amazing
We had great stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was knowledgeable and attending to our every need. I will recommend this hotel to my family and friends and will definitely come back to stay here again.
Vintage hotel with stunning location just inside Jaffa gate. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff. Small rooms, but unbeatable location for touring old town.
I didn't like there was no elevator. There were a lot of older people who had to carry heavy luggage up flights of stairs. Also, I didn't know it was located way inside of Jaffa gate, and had to go through an alley-like way to the entrance.
WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. BREAKFAST WAS DISGUSTING. THEY CHARGED ME EXTRA MONEY UPON MY ARRIVAL AND NEVER RELEASED MY MONEY. PLEASE BE ADVISED THERE IS NO WATER OR WINDOWS AT THIS PROPERTY
I like the building been original with the ancient Jerusalem city and yet the rooms gave been renovated
A gem, just inside the Jaffa Gate
The New Imperial Hotel is a gem just inside Jaffa Gate that is middle eastern in décor and looks as if it should be in an Agatha Christie novel. The accommodations were more than ample and comfortable, the breakfast generous and sumptuous, and the owner, Mr. Dajani, a warm grandfatherly figure who made us feel like family. The view of the Jerusalem Old City from the terrace roof of the hotel is spectacular.
No elevator fir handicap
Road Trip- Middle East
Location, LOCATION, Location !!! Great location next to the Jaffa gate. Walkable to just about everything. Wonderful check-in woman. The entire staff at the property were excellent. Quiet room most of the time for my 4 night say. One night there was a birthday celebration below my window in the courtyard. Could use more electrical outlets. Room comes with zero outlets if everything in the room is plugged in. Great hot water. The size of my room was small, I mean tiny! my closet at home is larger than the room. Great roof top balcony with wonderful views. No elevator, lots and lots of steps. I went on tours 3 mornings and they packed a breakfast to go, just nice. The regular breakfast was great on the one day I had it. I would return again, GREAT STAY!
This was the perfect location. Comforter and sheets too small. no microwave. Staff friendly, very safe. restaurants nearby very good. perfect for first stay in Jerusalem.
Charming historical hotel in the heart of old Jerusalem at the entrance of Jaffa Gate. The warmth and charm of the facility coupled with the friendly service of their staff made for a very memorable and happy experience. We highly recommend Hotel Imperial for it’s history, proximity, and charm. Please note there is no elevator which could be problematic for the elderly or challenged when climbing stairs with luggage. Otherwise, we’ll worth it! Give it a go. Zalis Family
Do not recommend this location, too much noise. Our room was facing the street below, 3 out 4 nights we spent in this hotel were sleepless. The staff could not move us to the quieter room when we complained.
We loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was typical and great, and you can’t beat the location. The Hotel is at most 15 minutes from anywhere in the Old City.
High quality place. Best location for the city. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Clean. Great breakfast. Fantastic hotel for a holiday HQ.
The only negative aspect of this property is that there is no lift, thus if you are elderly or have mobility issue walking up the stairs maybe of an issue, the location is fantastic literally 10 mins walk to the jewish quarter/muslim quarter, also the hotel provides taxi service back to airport at a cheaper rate than local taxi services, approximately 80 dollars ,
I loved staying here , location is perfect. I like the old feel and the rooftop area. Breakfast was also great. Staff was very helpful.
Great location but it was hard to find the entrance. The entrance does not face any street. It is inside an interior passageway blocked by a juice vendor. The room was clean with high ceilings but very bare walls, like a monastery (without religious icons). Very noisy alley in the morning. Breakfast was good. I'd stay here again even though it's not fancy.
This lovely old hotel is really charming and feels like a piece of history. It is situated at the Jaffa Gate. The parking is in a secure public lot outside of the city, located right below the Jaffa Gate, so you can take an elevator up from it into the city and walk easily to the hotel. A full breakfast is included. Staff were helpful and professional. Rooms have really high ceilings and stone walls - very charming. Bed was comfortable. Location is great - we easily walked to the Artists' Colony right outside the city, and to a local hotel to join a tour. Great experience!
Liked the property especially the roof terrace although it could be brought up to a better standard. We had the normal double room and did ask for another but hotel was full, I would upgrade to balcony room as bedroom had no window was very small and dark, location was perfect and restaurant next door was excellent
Area can be a little noisy at night being near the Jaffa Gate.
Excelente
Excellent property with all the necessary amenities and guest centric services. Close to all the attractions, brilliant breakfast and good sized rooms.
You would ONLY stay here because of the location!
This is the second time we have stayed at The New Imperial Hotel for one reason only, Location! set by Jaffa Gate it captures the heartbeat of the Old City. The downside is it is very dated and very expensive for what it is. Beds are not a full queen size bed but a little shorter and narrower. As per their website, there is no lift available and they tell you that upfront, but even as an able body person, their stairs are incredibly steep and by the time you have got to the 2nd floor for you room (Reception and Breakfast room are on 1st floor), you have had a workout. Rooms are tired and in need of a facelift. Plumbing is horrible, toilet smell as soon as we had checked in, and they never went away the whole trip, shower a bit dodgy. unable to use travel safe as it was locked, Breakfast had slipped significantly from our last stay there. Housekeeping forgot to service 1 of the rooms of the 2 bedroom family room on multiple occasions. Overall we were disappointed, wouldn't take a lot to bring this up to a better standard. Next time we will look at alternatives that are more modern and cheaper.
Great location just inside the Jaffa Gate. The interior is filled with historic artifacts and art. The room was clean and cozy. The split system was hard to control so it was either a bit to warm or chilly. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. We would recommend to our family and friends and would stay again.
this is a very nice hotel, very clean, staff very helpful.. I didn’t like that it does not have an elevator. but other than that is perfect, with walking distances to the main things at the old city.
Pros and Cons
The TV would not work despite assurances that they would get it going. The room was small but sufficient. The breakfast which was included was fine. The location was absolutely fabulous. The staff very friendly and helpful. Bring my suitcase up [and down] two flights of stairs was unexpected but I managed.
The location was great, right at Jaffa Gate. I rolled out of bed and could walk the old city. The staff was friendly and helpful! The staff cleaned my room everyday. If you need sleep, this is not the hotel for you. Utility vehicles went up and down the alleys all night long! You could hear people yelling all night as well. The showers flooded as well.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. I also want to mention the staff - very nice and helpful people.
Incredible location, amazing staff.
It’s so close to everything no need for taxis it’s perfect location staff were great breakfast was ok needs a bit more on offer
Excellent location as you can walk to Masjid Aqsa in 10 minutes straight down. But the hotel itself was okay. Hot water in the shower lasted for 2-3 minutes. Breakfast in the morning was very sub-par. For the cost, you expect better.
Located in the Christian quarter, the hotel is centrally located to many sights, shopping, and eating in Jerusalem.
Great location. Some aspects of the hotel are dated but at the same time has character. The staff was great! The breakfast was fantastic - perfect! And the coffee maker by the reception was great! I highly recommend!
The property is near shops, restaurants and minutes away from all the beauty the Old City has to offer. The place was clean, the front desk staff was helpful and courteous.
Perfect location to explore the old city. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms good size, very clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good plenty of choices. Roof top terrace has a fantastic view of the old city. Excellent place to stay.
Great location and staff. Loved it!
The location of this hotel is perfect and the history is interesting. It is an old historic building so don't expect a 5 star new building experience but it is comfortable and fun if you are more interested in an authentic experience and easy access to the historic sites. Expect to carry your bags up many steps. Watched the Tower of David light show from the roof. Staff was great! Loved our stay and would definitely do it again if we return.
Very convenient location, right next to the Jaffa gate. A little confusing to find the entrance, but easy enough to get to once you find the entryway in the middle the alley dividing the building. Overall, the staff were helpful. The room I had was a little small, but was clean and comfortable. There is quite a few nice common areas, and the rooftop terrace has amazing views. Only thing I had was I didn't think breakfast was the best, but had a reasonable selection in buffet. I would stay here again.
Likely the best inner Jerusalem old city hotel. Will definitely return here and recomend others to do similar.
It’s right at the center of Old Jerusalem. Clean and delicious breakfast. Staff are helpful and friendly. Close to shopping, restaurants, walking distance to almost all main attractions. Highly recommended. Will stay again the next time I visit Jerusalem.
If we ever visit Jerusalem again, we will stay at the New Imperial Hotel. The location, history, amenities, and staff made our eight nights in Jerusalem the most memorable trip of our lifetime. Yes, there are newer hotels with more spacious, modern accommodations. Yes, they all have elevators! But nothing can match the historic significance, general level of comfort, and incredible staff support at the New Imperial.
at the Jaffa gate, in the old city. Close to Jaffa street and the light rail.
Perfect location with rich cultural artwork.
Perfect location. Staff was always very knowledgeable and helpful. The charm of the different floors was amazingly decorated with rich culture and history of Jerusalem. The roof top was nice to get a good view and escape the business. Also a good view into king David’s tower next to the hotel.
Not Worth Staying in Jerusalem…
So after my trip with time to think about everything I would recommend anyone going to Israel to just stay in Tel Aviv and do day trips from there to see the country you will be sooo much happier. This hotel is right in the old city which I thought would be nice… The staff was cordial but nothing special, the beds like most places outside the USA are Rock Hard, the A/C unit is one of the small thin kind that goes over doors it worked but it blew directly on the beds so if your like me and don’t like it blowing directly on your face all night then it’s not very comfortable… The breakfast also doesn’t even start till 730am so if you’re doing tours you will be paying for something you don’t get… also the breakfast here was the worst of all the hotels, it is just super low quality generic food no taste no heart… way different compared to my hotel in Tel Aviv…. Also staying in the old city you will be surrounded by noise, junk vendors pushing you every second to buy something, horrible food because it’s all the quick junk tourist food… Seriously just stay in Tel Aviv then you can have the beach and good food every day!!!
This hotel is close to all the religious places we came to see! The staff here (Especially Leo!!!) are great. The breakfast was ok and the bed were comfy. The only thing was that when we were dropped off late at night, the indication to where the entrance of the hotel is not very visible, so make sure that you enter through the open door that looks like an ally and it will be at the end of that hall. At first I thought that we dropped off at the wrong location because I couldn't see the entrance right in the front we walked around for a while until we came back to recheck. Please DO NOT trust maps on iphone as it will take you out of that vicinity and way out of the way. Download Waze and it will give you accurate location of hotel. Again, great staff, especially Leo who was very nice and always was super helpful
Unique location to all visitation sites , very clean and friendly

location is as good as it gets, being just inside of the Jaffa gate. But that also comes with noise, so if you an sleep through loud street noise, then this is a great option. Hotel is old, but has great charm. With that comes no elevator and small rooms. But they have an amazing roof top. In the evening, get a bottle of wine and watch the coming and going through the Jaffa gate. Few amenities, but the price is great for Jerusalem. I will stay here again.
Loved the excellent historical location of the hotel right near all the tourist sites and holy places. The hotel has a beautiful ancient ambience to it and an awesome terrace with a breathtaking view. Staff is very friendly, specially Leonardo is extremely helpful and also pointed out how to get to places wherever we inquired. The only little inconvenience was the noise level due to the restaurant below and its proximity to the street which was pretty loud at night. We definitely recommend this hotel and would happily return back.
The staff was very friendly. The room was cleaned daily
Lots of noise from construction crews directly below our balcony. Furthermore the entire area is loud at night with various religious festivities. Morning breakfast was a joke, food was awful & no American coffee. Do not eat at any of the surounding pita shops, they are rip off and con artists. No prices on any foods or items...beware. Do not stay at this hotel .

Lovely hotel
