Easy & smooth check-in process. Fa ilities - the window panes can't close and some of the glass panes are falling off
Great stay
Staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.
It has charm and very good personnel- on negative - rooms are outdated, no power outlets at the table, really bad pillows
The rooms were fine, beds comfortable, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was sumptuous, with cereals, fruit, juice, hot and cold selections. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard area. The only negative was the swimming pool and area around it. We booked this hotel for that facility, but the water was cloudy and the sitting area around very neglected, as were the changing rooms.
Nice central courtyard. A bit noisy at night.
Nice Staff
Accessible and clean. Friendly staff and good price point for my long road trip.
The hotel is very old, old bed, bathroom. Things don’t work, the TV in the room doesn’t work. Full of mosquitoes although they have someone every evening spraying mosquito repellent which is terrible. For the price of the room, it’s not worth staying at dodoma hotel. Unless you don’t care about your moneys worth.
For the price for this hotel, it is certainly not worth it. Their rooms are small and everything is old. The amenities that they have listed under all of their rooms on Expedia are not correct - in the standard room, there was no aircon and the wifi barely reached the room. The hotel must be under construction as there was continuous grinding and sawing noises whilst I was there during the day. The room is super insecure - the door to the khonde was blocked with a table to keep people out, and the front door has only a push lock to lock it, even though the proper borders a very busy road. No coat hangers in the cabinet. To top it off, there was no hot water in the shower and their solution was to bring a bucket of hot water to use (admittedly, they did this pretty quickly, which makes me wonder where all the hot water is?! And thanks to the staff that did so!). ALL OF THIS IS FINE, but not at the price I’m paying nor at the location where we are. Dodoma’s most famous hotel needs some work.
Lightning WiFi
Wonderful staff and very helpful. Room was good for the price. Bathroom could use a new shower curtain but otherwise was ok. Great mosquito netting on the bed. Hotel as a whole is very nice. Wonderful courtyard and atmosphere. Would stay here again anytime.
Staff was nice but building needs a lot of updating. The bathroom needs a total redo and new beds that don't squeak when you move.
Needs renovation but an okay place to stay
Staff was very friendly and room was clean. Hotel is a bit rundown. Gym is full of broken equipment (none of the 7 or 8 cardio machines worked and part of the universal weight machine was broken) and quite dirty.
Even old buildings can be clean
Sorry to say we did not get AC the room there was no fridge as advertised the hotel was not only very tatty it was dirty. I understand they are waiting for a refurbishment of the building but cleanliness has nothing to do with buildings condition. At dinner the top table cloth was stained from previous people who had eaten there but not just the people before us. To be honest after one night we cut our losses made up an excuse and left so never got to see Dodoma so we would not recommend the hotel to anyone
ORBITZ AND DODOMA HOTEL MUST REFUND ME FOR THE FRAUD COMMITTED DURING MY LAST VISIT TO THE HOTEL. ORBITZ CHARGED ME FOR THE DOUBLE ROOM THAT WAS CONFIRMED. DODOMA HOTEL SOLD THAT ROOM TO ANOTHER PERSON AND GAVE ME A TERRIBLY SMELLING STANDARD ROOOM AND DID NOT PROVIDE A REFUND. ORBITZ ALSO USED MY ORBITZ POINTS FOR THAT TRANSACTIONS. SMELLY ROOM. NO INTERNET. NO APOLOGIES. NO REFUND. TOTAL FRAUD.
My confirmed deluxe room was given to someeone else. Instead I was given a standard room with no internet connectivity and toilet that would not flush. A horrible experience. Orbitz MUST refund the room rate diffetence. Orbitz must send me a conformation when the refund is procesded and done.
This property has a lovely courtyard. We return on an annual basis. The property will be remodeled in the near future according to the management. The staff is very helpful and friendly!
Location is good. Other services are satisfactory. Better illumination of rooms and better water and wardrobe arrangement needed. Staff is good and courteous.
Quenched my nostalgia of a lovely old Dodoma hotel which I liked most. But unpleased by the state to-day. Morena, Nshera a doing abetter job.
Desperately trying to cling to its "historic charm," but seriously needing maintenence and renovation.
Classic hotel -ready for refresh
It is worthwhile to upgrade to executive rooms to ensure good WIFI and hot showers. this is not always assured in standard and double delux rooms. Excellent Chinese restaurant on site.
On arrival, receptionist stated that I had pre-paid a cheap rate and if I wanted a double room (which is what I booked) with air-conditioning (which I understood was included in the room), she wanted me to pay an additional amount in local currency, which was almost the same amount again I had already paid. I declined to her great surprise and ended up getting a double room on the ground floor with a fan.. While everything else about my stay was fine (including a good dinner and help the following morning to pre-print boarding passes for connecting flights), this "up-selling" (which seemed very practised) created a very negative initial impression.
The staff from check in to cleaning and the restaurant staff was excellent. The condition of my room was terrible the toilet ran during my entire stay and flooded twice. I found insect in my bed during my stay and was bitten all over my body even thought I slept under a net
A good option for Dodoma
The New Dodoma Hotel is a good option for staying in this city. While the staff varies in their friendliness and helpfulness, and things go wrong like WiFi not working for almost two days, considering the challenges of Tanzania, I was pleased with my stay, the dining options, and the general comfort of the room.
Not so New Dodoma Hotel
This hotel looks nothing like it's pictures. It is very run down. Steer clear.
Ok, but ...
The hotel was ok and it has character, but there has been no investment for years and it feels like it. Outsized furniture, creaky beds, things falling apart: The Old Dodoma Hotel.
The central courtyard is attractive. The rooms are old. Bedding has not been updated in years We had cockroaches in our bathroom.
Older hotel right beside the train station, clearly a 5 star hotel in its day but showing its age a little. Friendly staff.
Good location and value
The Dodoma Hotel is very centrally located. You can walk to many locations in the city center very easily. If you need a taxi, there’s a stand right out front. The rooms are clean but could use a bit of an update. Depending on the time of day and room location the water pressure and temperature can leave a bit to be desired. There are multiple restaurants on site - which cannot be said for other hotels in Dodoma - and the food is good and the service is prompt and professional. The WiFi is free and mostly reliable.
Nothing new about the hotel
The hotel is called new Dodoma but very bad. Everything is so bad. Mosquitoes, bad and dirty rooms. Very old building. Nothing new about it
Not good hotel
There was no hot water in the room i informed them, pretended like they were helping but didn't fo anything and had cold showers all my stay. On last day tried to rip me off with charges that i wasnt aware at time of booking.
Charged extra amount on leaving
Whilst the facilities were good, the pool needed a clean. We were also hit with an unexpected extra charge on leaving.
Best out there, but could be better
This is definitely one of the nicest hotels in Dodoma and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay. There's room service and the hotel has good access to the aiport. That said, I didn't have hot water in my shower for the week I was there, and the internet is patchy. Solve these two things and it would be a perfect business hotel in dodoma.
attempt to cancel
We were told we could cancel, but then were not able to. Would not use expedia again for hotel reservations. Nothing wrong with the hotel.
pleasant and comfortable, good restaurant
The New Dodoma Hotel is probably the best option for a stay in Dodoma, if you wish to be reasonably close to most things--that is, to the market, the airport, and bus station. There is a good restaurant that includes a wide range of breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there could be a nice pool if it is cleaned and running. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Management shows no concern
Spent 3 days at this hotel. Our experience was not great, Meals in the courtyard were pleasant with the friendly, helpful serving staff. Reception however, was very unfriendly and upon our departure assessed a Tanzania Development Levy of Tsh 3300 pp per day, which no other hotel in Tanzania charged. On arrival, we were given a very small room where the 1st night the AC broke and leaked over my clothes. No apology from hotel, but I was given a bigger room, which I should have had in the first place. Being across the street from the train station, we were also disturbed by the occasional train horns during the night. The hotel allows touts into the courtyard, who pester guests to buy their wares. There were stray cats allowed to roam freely through the property. The upkeep of the facility needs immediate attention, apart from run down hotel, the pond area was dirty and the gardens overgrown! Overall the hotel has good potential and could be significantly improved with a (major) renovation. The lobby is dark and dismal with very dated furnishings. The three restaurants are dark but do serve tasty food. The courtyard needs to be spruced up - shrubs pruned, (smaller) pool cleaned, the bar repaired and reopened. The floorboards around the second floor walkways to get to the rooms are in need of repair and should be re-stained.
Not good at all: a real let down
Using the toilet in the night was a matter of fighting off the mosquitoes. The toilet would not flush, and there was no hot water. A real let down, because we stayed there once before and it was much, much better than that. The "Airport Shuttle" was four times the price of a taxi, so we used a taxi. The swimming pool was closed - because it was being cleaned. But the Chinese restaurant was excellent
Nice hotel grounds, old rooms, but overall ok.
Quite decent for Dodoma. The hotel grounds are nicely kept and green, room was a tad run down. Probably a bit too expensive, but options in town are limited.
NDH Not for Me
Unfortunately, this is the only hotel listed online and is relatively close (walkable) to the town center. Customer service is a joke. If you're a tourist, they'll try to rip you off via extra charges or not giving proper change. Only 2 of the outlets worked in the room. The pools were beyond disgusting as they hadn't been cleaned in sometime and were full of mosquitoes. The Chinese restaurant is the best thing this hotel has going for it. Breakfast was terrible (looked like leftovers) and had roaches crawling on the tablecloths where the food was. And breakfast is free. The beef samosas are good. And wi-fi repeatedly signs you out and only last for one day (sometimes not even that), regardless of what the receipt says. If I can help it, I plan to avoid this hotel like the plague.
Needs Improvement.
The New Dodoma appears to need new management. Service is poor; and bills are frequently inaccurate and very difficult to correct. Security is poor and there were several room burglaries during my recent multi-week stay. The front of the hotel is guarded, but the back of the hotel is not. Complaints to the reception staff and the general manager were met with a "not my problem" attitude.
Rubbish to ok
Breakfast was not good, service was awful. Comfortable bed. Shower is good but floods bathroom every time
Good hotel
This hotel is actually quite nice. It has a nice courtyard with bars and restaurants. Has a pool, a gym and an internet station. The rooms are fine and clean. Only issue I faced had to do with food. It was quite good, but it would take them ages for them to serve it! Breakfast is quite rich though. A very nice hotel overall.
This hotel is fine, though it did get a bit loud one evening (though the other 5 nights I was there were fine). The beds are good and the lighting in the room is nice. It would have been great if the cappucino place opened before 11 AM! In fact, that "Italian" restaurant in the hotel was a big disappointment to us. I ordered a minestrone soup there and they gave me a small bowl for $12000 KSH, which is quadruple the price it should have been (plus the soup had no flavor). The food in the continental/Indian restaurant was fine, though.
The New Dodoma Hotel
This hotel represents an extensive extension and refurbishment of the old Dodoma hotel, a handsome relic of colonial days. The internal courtyard is beautifully planted and the rooms are of a reasonable size and well appointed. There is a swimming pool. While we were there the restaurant facilities were under rebuilding, so the full menu was not available, and what was on offer was not very exciting. The Italian room was not open, but the Chinese restaurant served excellent food.
Traditional? No, it's just OLD.
As shown in signboard, they are strongly proud of its history and tradition. I booked this hotel through hotels.com, but reception never accessed to those information. She asked me “which type of the room did you book?” “Already paid?” The door of bathroom was broken and couldn’t be closed. So it made big noise every 10 minutes with wind. The restaurant staff brought wrong receipt and change both, but should he just bring the correct receipt? Is it a hard task for you? (Could you understand my explanation? You might not! I still couldn’t understand what they did.) I paid for the food when I checked out, but reception didn’t prepared the small change, and the never brought it. Ok, this hotel is now just OLD and out of date, more than traditional. They cannot update systems, educate staffs, and renovate rooms.
I like historical and classic atmosphere of the hotel.
Flecke in Bettlaken, sofortiger Austausch
The staffs don’t know well about their payment system. They don’t know how to provide proper invoice to customer.
Dodoma
Stayed for 4 nights at New Dodoma. Rooms are average but quite good for the price. Nice food at the restaurant.
Traditional, Good location, but that’s all
If you hope “traditional”, you can enjoy this hotel. Also, the location is better to access city area compared with more luxury hotel such as Morena. However, this hotel (but also Dodoma totally) needs to update and be sophisticated more. There is fan at the top, but the mosquito net was spread by that fan all night. Staffed were friendly but sometimes were not sophisticated. They served the dishes with noise and set them wrongly... Everything was as such. This is Dodoma now.

Fabulous breakfast in a tired business hotel with nicely cared for plants but the advertised swimming pool is unusable with dirty green water. I did not even want to sit near it.
