It needs lots of updating, Pool was dirty. Breakfast was actually very good. Front desk personnel or other staff did not know anything when we asked about our surroundings or places to go. The shuttle driver knew a little more. Don’t think I would stay there again. Pictures looked a lot more beautiful than reality.
The view of the sea, was beautiful. The persons there wasn't aware of my booking or arrival, so i didn't get what i paid for. I didnt have a restful night because the AC remote doesnt work with the unit, and i could not control the temperature, nor could i turn off the ac unit, so i was extremely cold throughout the night, and there were no-one at the main office after 8pm to rectify my situation. Then the rooms and facility was far from what i was expecting or bargain for. For the cost, i could have gotten another place with better facilities. The pictures of the room on the site and what is actually there, is totally different and not in a good way. I am totally disappointed with my stay and regret every going.
The property is badly run down and is in need of a complete remodel. The beds are uncomfortable, the pillows horrible, the showers were nasty, no hot water. The pictures of this property must have been from 15 or 20 years ago. Do Not waste your money on this resort.
The Lady in the bar area and chief was good. Great customer service for those 2. The lady that owns or runs this place has her son living on property with his dog that has maggots in it's behind. The dog is let loose and wonders into the area where you eat. The place is dirty and has insects, roaches, there were some kind of bug eggs in one of the beds. I have poctures if you need them. The outside view is beautiful, other than that Awful!!!!
The property was lovely, the view was spectacular. Staff was wonderful. Need a little renovating, but overall i would recommend it.
It's pretty cool the view is awesome and inexpensive. You get
It was awful I will never recommend that resort ever!
absolutely beautiful spot , nicest people
this is a beautiful place with Great people that work there they make you feel like family right away Danyelle at the front desk is especially sweet and even remembered my name the next day also the driver can take you wherever you want there are plenty of restaurants nearby you can walk or he can take you in a fun big bus but the best part is Andrew at the scuba center we did a beginners course and the diving /snorkeling is amazing right at the ladder off the cliffs in front of your room if you want a “real”experience in Negril and not one of those typical all-inclusive‘s that are so overcrowded this is the place ! they make you a great breakfast and just jumping off the cliffs and swimming in that beautiful water was amazing...but the people could not have been nicer
Nice, quiet place. Nothing fancy. Worth your money. Very "Jamaican" vibes if you want something other than the resort "still in America" ordeal. My son and grandmother enjoyed it. Food was satisfying, considering it was complimentary. It was worth it. Fresh fruit and traditional Jamaican breakfast options. If sleep comfort is import, got elsewhere. Beds feels cheap and stiff. It was in a perfect area of Negril. Not far at all from Ricks Cafe. No ATM on the property however. Also several are dogs on property. I would not stay here again, but only due to the dogs. Overall, if you just want to chill and dont want to pay for an expensive place, I would recommend here. The hotel aesthetically, has SO much potential, but clearly no one to lead it there yet. Needs investing in.
Rundown
This place is falling down. The room we had was bad. The furniture looked like something you see on the side of the road. We did not put our clothes in the dresser. The toilet worked intermittently as well as the shower. We had no hot water pressure the last 2 days. We left without a shower because it was basically unusable at that point. The bed was an old foam mattress, probably from the 70's. The railings around the porch are concrete, cracking, crumbling and unsafe looking. There were loose cracked tiles on the floor. The chaise lounges were almost all cheap plastic with sagging seats and some were broken. The staff was actually very good. They did all they could with what they had to work with. The food was good, but limited. They have no real restaurant. They serve you in the bar which is ok. The drinks were good. There are two floors in the main building that look to be just abandoned, maybe where the restaurant used to be. The location is absolutely awesome. The ocean view with the sunset almost makes it worth it but not quite. You can walk to Rick's Cafe in 5 mins. The Rockhouse is a 10 min. walk. Some really good food in the area. They do have a free shuttle to 7 Mile Beach but you have to go to the Boardwalk. Otherwise its $10. Both places are owned by the same family. It could be a beautiful destination but right now it is not.
Confirm reservation directly with hotel
The accommodations were as expected. A lovely destination for diving and for viewing the Negril sunset. Great personable staff. The only hiccup was with the booking on Hotels.com which stated that breakfast was included only to find out at the resort that it is not. Happy with the destination but disappointed with Hotels.com for incorrect advertising.
I couldn't stay here The rooms were old and dirty. I took one look at it left I lost the one nights money but there was no way I was going to lay my head on that bed. It was the worst hotel room I have ever seen
disgusting place
This hotel is completely run down all the buildings are destroyed and felt unsafe... this whole place was disgusting with Horrible customer service. i would never recommend anyone to come here
Rustic,no fuss, affordable,amazing view hideaway!
Great couple day stay option to check out westerns Negril, but manage e pectations this is. No frills stay. Bed is comfortable, there's a tv with cable (small and old model, but service is great). They offer free wifi. Hotel staff is available during the day and friendly when engaged but there's no room service- there's not even a phone in the room. There's a door lock and chain and a gate at the front that seemed to be intermittently manned. So there's not secured walkways, traveling solo at night felt a little unprotected, but felt safe the entire visit. Very quiet and tranquil and the other guests were friendly. Decor is older but ok: Awesome vaulted wood cieling and adequate closet space, safe in closet and dresser The decor is adequate but rough around the edges, chipping paint, dryed dripped wood stains, broken blinds, non working electrical outlets by the bed and huge inoperable cieling fan. Also the fixtures for sink and tub were clean but worn (rusted and calcium build up) and the grouting around the toilet and tub were old and appeared clean but in an unmatched grey that just looked unfinished and messy. Amazing views: What you will get are amazing views I had room 104, unobstructed cliff, ocean view. The sunsets were amazing here! I loved the hammock just outside my door and deck seating.Honestly I had planned to stay 3 days, but left a day early do I could have better accommodations/meal for my final night/day worth the 2 nights @Expedia Discount
Horrible Place to go to
I originally didn't pick this hotel but expedia had made a mistake and they had offered this after we found out the hotel I had originally booked no longer exists.... So when we saw the pics on expedia we expected something great BUT we were sadly disappointed... 1) This hotel does have a nice view but everything was destroyed... and was not repaired or patched... 2) the plumbing doesn't work.... So i recommend avoiding having to use it 3) I had made a complaint because there was no light only to find out the previous guest had stolen the bulbs from the room 4) When I had gone to the front desk and had asked them to clean the room and add bulbs. The lady that was at the desk was evesdropping when I had mentioned my room number got very defensive and said she just cleaned the room... and when I mentioned that the previous guest also left a present in the toilet and it was clogged and flooded... and my bathroom was roach infested!!!! 5) When I went to go shower I was too scared to stay in the bathroom for very long because the roaches were flying around the bathroom.. 5) The property did not feel safe... and felt extremely creepy... 6) The Hotel doors couldn't lock properly for all 4 rooms that we had received... 7) the curtains were very sheer and other guests can look in the rooms at our bed... I'm actually worried if someone would be staring through our door watching us sleep.. 8) overall I would never recommend anyone to go to this hotel its been completely run down
Escape is right
The room is basic, but I had no hot water and no working shower. the front desk at first said we needed to pay cash for the room we already paid for. After some back and forth he said for us to email him the confirmation page.
Hotel shabby.
We were very disappointed with the hotel and accommodation. There was no shower head in shower, torn curtains, barely function air conditioner in bed room only had to ask several times for that and mini refrig. No telephone access in room but supposed to be room service. We felt unsafe in the rooms, don't need a key to push open the door.Overall the hotel was old and run down. We were unhappy most of the time will not be returning there or recommend it to anyone. Hotels.com you need to be held responsible also, please know what you are recommending customers. I will not be using your services again also.
Dated, but clean and outstanding location
Great location for jumping or driving from cliffs into a beautiful warm sea, nice large pool, with plenty of lounge chairs. A full breakfast every morning with a mix of traditional favorites and Jamaican fare. Staff absolutely fantastic, and they have beach shuttle each day for free.
Reskrt
Quiet spot good staff good food good drinks great view would say it was a great spot. Easy to get taxi. Great place for peace and quiet!!!
Property with alot of potential but falls wa short
Resort has a lot of potential but fell short in most aspects. I had a confirmed double room when I arrived there was a single bed, and they tried to just add another bed to the room as opposed to switching to the larger double room which was paid for. Electric will flicker on and off, no bath towels available, only boiling hot water in the shower.
Good for people who wants to view the ocean in calm and quite envoirnment, and no activity. Ocena front side is very nice.
Needs updates
Hotel needed work slightly run down the views were gorgeous and it had potential but definitely could use work. Was ok for the two nights I stayed but I wouldn't book again
Disappointing
The hotel was "run down' , requested an upgrade . The owner was very rude and stated that hotel. Com knew that they were closing after the season and should not have allowed the booking. No hot water, wi fi did not work.
Needs work
The hotel was run down the location is great. We stayed in the bamboo room the room was clean bed very small not big enough for two no hot water. The staff is very friendly it was nice because there only a couple other guests staying. There is a great hamburger place across the street called ahhhbees if you want Good Food go there the hotel didn't serve much
the worst experience everr
worst every hotel if you have any sense you would not go there
Low cost getaway
This is not a big all inclusive place. It is a nice quaint property with a great view. For need TLC but was generally clean and safe. The staff mostly lived on property and were very friendly. This is a place to go for quiet solitude. Close to good restaurants and bars and s cheap ride to town. I plan to come back.
Home Away from Home!
The Negril Escape is our home away from home! We always stay here when we are in Negril and we are never disappointed. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, the food is good, the rooms are clean, and the grounds are safe. If you want comfortable, casual and safe, this is the place!
nice place need a little fixing up but overall okay
good value
First time staying at this hotel. Away from the beach so nice and quiet. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was awesome! Rooms were outdated but nice.
This place is horrible
Overpriced, zero water pressure , cold shower , broken toilet ,not clean , no pool towels ,poor wifi .a total Rip off
Friendliest Hotel Staff Ever!
The staff here is the friendliest of any hotel I've ever stayed at. They will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Very quiet cliffside hotel
Rooms and hotel grounds were worse than expected - I would rate 2 stars. Location and staff were good. Very quiet location. Very peaceful.
Family getaway.
The pictures are very deceiving. It had a terrible odour in the bathroom and the ac didn't work hardly ever. Almost everything on the menu wasn't "available". Wifi only worked well by the front desk. Wasn't a good getaway experience at all.
Awesome views and great stay :-)
This hotel said "no frills" so I did not pay for all inclusive drinks and things I would not be using!! But the room was clean and safe. The Ocean view was awesome and the people working there were very nice. We had a 2nd floor ocean view. The hotel is walking distance from Rick's cafe, but you can watch the sunset from this hotel. Some things in the hotl are a little dated, but I loved the hammock on the balcony and the cliff diving here. The water was a aquamarine and so clear :-) As Arnold would say "I'll be back".
Ocean View—Up Close And Personal!
This old resort has a lot to offer. A friendly staff, good food and service, a great pool and good swimming and snorkeling. I had a comfortable king bed, the maids did a great job of cleaning my room. My room was right on the ocean, a beautiful sight in the morning when I opened my door. Imagine going to sleep with the faint sound of the ocean waves on the rocks! I swung in the hammock many afternoons, watched the sun set from my porch chair. Lots of good restaurants nearby—Ivan's at CatchAFallingStar has amazing food, Ah-By's for amazing burgers, a 10 minute walk to Ricks. Negril Escape is a great value!
Awesome New Years trip
I recently stayed at the Negril Escape with my girlfriend. We had a blast during our trip. We stayed in room 104 and the view was incredible. The hotel offers a lighthouse you can jump off of as well as a few small alcoves to swim in the ocean, all on top of the swimming pool as well. The only downside to the resort in our opinion was the pushiness and constant hustling from the locals outside of the resoer. Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend Negril Escape if you are looking for a more private experience than the all-inclusives on 7 mile beach
Outdated hotel
Place is outdated dirty ,and not comfy at all ,tv is from the 70s ,and also the stuff inside the room ,dont waist your money
what is 4 star these days
cold not stay here by no means nothing about Negril escape is 4 star
The resort needs some updating. kldfjsdi dkljsdn kksd fopij jpo'[wefmklsd
Real terrible place
After arriving at this location I could not stay there. there was no electricity the place was in darkness and really hot.it was raining and you could take a shower from the water pouring through the leaking roof The room that is supposed to be a 4 (four) star was small and further cluttered with two double beds there was no way I would have stayed there so I found somewhere else This was like nothing I have ever seem before just unbeleiveable.
Nice views on very bad property
Very nice views of the ocean , nice relaxing and quiet location. The rooms are clean , the staff is very nice. This property needs some serious upgrading. Solar electricity is not enough to run the hotel. Constant power outages. No air condition between 9 am and 5 pm . Cable TV cut out a lot. The room was infested with red ants . If you advertise free breakfast , do not insult your guests by putting out 2 boxes of cereal , some bad homemade muffins and coffee and call that a free breakfast. Please do not put out those things again and call it free breakfast . I could live with red ants no air conditioning 9 to 5 , no cable , but I could not let my family eat that free breakfast. Can be a nice property if upgrades are made. It is a good deal for $40 or less a night any more and you will be very very disappointed.
The manager up grade our room which made things just a little better.
My first trip to Jamaica
Beautiful location, but had to switch rooms bc of a/c problems... both rooms had issues. Water pressure is bad and hotel switches to solar power during day. No a/c or water pressure from 9a-5p. Staff is very friendly and accommodating though.
Negril Escape and Spa Resort burned me up (no AC)
This could have been a very good, relaxing trip. However, this resort/motel operates it's air conditioning system by "solar" according to the resort staff. The air conditioner shuts down during the day and only works during the night. AND FOR ONE ENTIRE NIGHT THE AIR CONDITIONER DID NOT WORK AT ALL FOR ME IN ROOM 201. Unfortunately, the security told me that the office was closed that night. Additionally, the pool area was not cleaned and the landscaping needs some serious work. I should at least be refunded one night's cost. I feel like I was cheated out of one night's comfort without an air conditioner. The staff workers were nice and friendly. However, whoever owns this resort needs to make some type of adjustments with the air conditioning and cut back some of the weeds and bushes on the landscaping. Also refund me one night's cost.
Great stay
Beautiful views, warm people & a comfortable bed! Never had issues with the AC during our 6 nights. It was always cold & surprisingly quiet for a window unit. The bed was super comfy, I never missed my bed at home! The hot water situation was a little tricky. Some evenings it didn't work but every morning water was super hot. They switch to solar during the day so the AC units don't work (too many watts). This may be a problem if you're planning to be in the room during the day (which I don't understand since there is so much to see/do in Negril!) At night it was always quiet & tranquil. We were on the ocean front side of the property. I'm not sure if being away from the street helped. Sat night was the only noise we heard. A nearby bar had a party & the music was pretty loud but was over by 11pm. Free breakfast was just a couple of cereals & some type of muffin they make. If you want eggs or anything else you'll have to buy a breakfast plate which are $5-$10. Everything tasted great. Free wifi worked well. I had to reconnect a few times but it wasn't slow & I was always able to check email & upload photos. As for safety, we never had any concerns. They have a security manager who keeps an eye on everyone & a safe in the room for valuables. For the cost, I'd rather work around the few minor issues & better spend my money seeing the rest of Jamaica. That is exactly what I did with no regrets. Negril Escape is a beautiful place with similarly beautiful people. I will be back!
Negril Escape-yes, Resort Spa-not so much
I chose this hotel because of the price, secluded location and complimentary breakfast. I was taking a budget vacation and thought this would be perfect. Well, it wasn't perfect. It was just ok. I would give the staff 4 stars. They were wonderful! The view and location were just what I was expecting. My disappointment with this property was that they advertise complimentary breakfast but what that really means is coffee, muffins (horrible store bought) and cereal (corn flakes or raisin bran). They turn the electricity off for several hours a day-didnt know that. The property could use re-modeling but I understand the economy is bad. There is a bar across the street that plays VERY loud music sometimes early in the morning and late at night. That made it difficult to relax which is what I went there for. Again- The owners of the hotel and the staff are wonderful!
Awesome Cliff Location
Atmosphere and hotel location was great. Of course, the property needs some work to improve the appearance of some of the buildings. For the price, my stay was awesome because being by the water is all I need.
Overall experience was good. Place and the surrounding areas were pleasant. The staff and people were pleasent and accomodating.
Vacation
This was a decent hotel however, let me be clear this was no 4 star more like 1 or even a 2 star....
Negril Escape Resort & Spa | Hotel in Negril | Travala.com
The chefs was great and front desk person was great however the room Roche the pillow is dirty and the room was also leaking you could see the water in temptation and they had a water bubble behind the TV on the wall
