Friendly, helpful staff. Short walk to the Old City.
Always an enjoyable stay! The staff are the best part of staying here. They are unfailingly kind, helpful, patient and friendly. Location is unbeatable, and easy walk to Salah al Din and the Old City. The only (slight) disappointment was breakfast. There are not enough fresh and healthy options available. Brewed coffee and hot tea are included. But espresso drinks (lattes, Americano, cappucino,) are extra and expensive. Great people, and always a nice experience. We will be back!

Cleanliness is under average
The rooms beautiful and clean, the beds are comfortable, Worth a try
Great staff, Perfect location and Good value
All the staff and super friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious. Even though the hotel is built in the 50’s, it is well maintained. The older lady that works the breakfast buffet is very helpful and kind. The breakfast is a nice variety. The man who works the main desk (I think his name is Sam) is super nice, accommodating, helpful and easy to talk too. The young man who’s the manager is also very nice and always greets you.
Walkable
Location
First off, I am an American so I have that point of view. The hotel reminds me of old Hollywood. It is a classic with tons of history that is showing it's age. I liked it a lot, my wife not so much. It was clean and the staff was great. The bed was hard and we never did figure out the AC system. It is in the Muslim district which we hadn't anticipated, but was no problem and everyone treated great. It's noisy outside, but that is living in any city. These are difficult times in Israel and we pray for peace.
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Location was good. Transfers booked with hotel were very efficient.
Hotel very old
The staff at the front desk is excellent and so helpful for first time visitors to Isreal.
Beautiful : always great satisfaction staying at National Hotel. Staff : very understanding and accommodating. The restaurant offers a variety of menus and the breakfast is a feast in itself. The restaurant's staff is very welcoming. It's a great hotel for family: kids friendly. There is a park nearby where you could take your children to play. National Hotel is in the midst of the old city Jerusalem which makes it very convenient to move around. The environment in and around the hotel is very welcoming. This summer marked my 6th times staying at National Hotel, Jerusalem . I would recommend it to all. Ginette, Westchester, NY.
The hotel did not provide safe box; hotel towels very raggedy and old; breakfast food was can fruit and they charge extra for cappucino or other coffees that where included in the breakfast fee. Overall poor staff helpfulness. Taxi drivers there were nice and helpful.
Amazing staff. Breakfast was amazing- have a lot of choice for everyone - staff in restaurant very friendly and attended to all your needs. Will definitely come back here again. Thank you for your hospitality
Decent hotel, not a great room
Would recommend!
Amazingly friendly staff, walking distance to the old city and trams, very comfortable!
I highly recommend this hotel service is great the staff go overboard to please tou
Very nice older property with and excellent staff.e
The staff was great
The National Hotel Jerusalem staff were professional and hospitable, eager to assist, whenever I needed help. They offered me a spacious suite that overlooked the streets from the third-floor towards Old CityJerusalem. I highly recommend this hotel, and would be very happy to return again.
I had a delightful stay, and national Hotel Jerusalem. The staff record, courteous, professional, and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. There was a variety of food to choose from for breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent staff, friendly hospitality and ready to assist
Great place, convient location
The hotel is very nice for what it costs. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the lobby is very classy. You have easy access to the attached restaurant and coffee shop, and the heart of the Old City is only a 15 minute walk away. The complementary breakfast is diverse, and overall very good with a few mediocre pieces. The tub looked a little beat up, but the shower pressure was amazing. The only negative was that the toilet already had urine in it when i arrived.
Close to AlAqsa compound, staff were amazing, sadly room was very noisy with and toilet and bathroom was not clean on arrival which was dissapointing.
Zain was exceptionally helpful, he really went out of his way to ensure that my shuttle return to the airport was booked and daily ensured that taxi to other pick up venue's were booked. Thank you to Zain, Hayat and all the staff that made my stay comfortable. God bless you all.
Excellent service! Loved staying here!!! Staff is incredible. God bless in Jesus name.
Great hotel close to old city
Nice room. Great food. Helpful staff.
Close to the holy places, that was the best They have a good breakfast buffet They should wash the hallwsy carpet
The staff at the National Hotel Jerusalem was phenomenal! I can’t wait to come back again!
Great central hotel
Very central, 8 minute walk from the Old Town. There are lots of shops in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast was very nice and provided a good opportunity to try some local dishes. The room was comfortable and well decorated. Communal areas such as corridors look a little dated compared with the rooms, but does it really matter? It's a great hotel for a trip to the Old Town and that's exactly what we wanted! Thanks to Sami (sorry if spelt incorrectly) on reception who gave us some helpful information on opening hours and where to visit.
The hotel is in walking distance from most of the Old City, but most every hotel is also in walking distance so not a huge plus. In our long trip to the Middle East, this hotel is the worst. The lobby and coffee shop is very acceptable. Once you are in the room area the carpets are worn, torn and dirty. There is the random stray cat and kittens roaming the halls so that adds to the smell. Most hotel bed sheets/duvet will hang down on each side and the end on the bed. In the National they not only did not hand down but were 4 inches narrower than the top of the bed. We were not covered. The shower was full of mold. Two times we had questions for the front desk and called.... No answer. so we went down and could only find a custodian, who in his defense, was very nice and attempted to help. Good luck with this one. We had paid in advance for 3 night and could only make it 2 nights. We threw away a paid night and went elsewhere. Good luck with this one.
We had an excellent time at the National Hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the fifth floor was incredible.
We appreciated the last minute accommodations and friendliness/service. We got some of the last rooms available and so they were a bit more run down - but breakfast was fabulous.
Close to Old Jerusalem. Restaurant delicious. Staff very helpful. Liked the city flavor.
Property is walking distance to the old city Jerusalem and shopping stores around the area. The hotel has dinning and the food is great as well as a morning coffee with pastries which you can buy before starting your day. My stay was pleasant and would recommend to anyone that doesn’t want to be far apart from the old city Jerusalem.
The staff were all welcoming and excellent at National Hotel. The location was great to walk to the old city. The restaurant had vegan & vegetarian options and the food was wonderful, with generous portions! Would definitely stay here again
We walked to Herods gate and surrounding area felt very safe. Excellent breakfast, was able leave luggage last day for late flight. Should tell guest electric is controlled by card reader on wall
They assisted with a smile with every question and concern we had. The food was excellent with a wide variety of dishes, really enjoyed the breakfast, Tamar was an excellent waiter and was there to assist about every time we ate there. Within 10 min. Of the old city, but if you needed transportation they would jump right on it. For a place not rated 5 stars, the staff is 10 stars.
Food,air, all.customer service,
Don't waste your money
Our "deluxe double room" was very basic-I've seen better college dorm rooms. No cups or Kleenex in the room and the finish work in the bathroom was not complete. There was a strip of tile missing above the bathroom door, there were holes in the wall of the shower fixture, and when we used the faucet in the sink, we thought it was going to pull right out, since it was not secured. There was a huge crack in the outside window, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the hotel was incredibly noisy. There is a good selection of food for breakfast, provided you did not want something HOT! The scrambled eggs and other "hot" food were anywhere from lukewarm to downright cold. Unless you see 2 burners under the chafing dish for the eggs, pass on them. Housekeeping was inconsistent with replacing bath towels-sometimes we had 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel & a bath mat, sometimes only one bath towel was left & had to ask housekeeping for a second one, & the last day, no bath mat or hand towel. There was also only 1 extra pillow in the closet (2 beds should equal 2 extra pillows). Our room key card had to be re-programmed twice as it stopped working. Yes, it's convenient to Herod's Gate and the Rockefeller Museum, but with so many other hotels in the area, your money is better spent elsewhere.
.
The owner of the hotel is there every day, greeting guests in the lobby and checking on things in the dining room. You can tell the pride he has in it. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is prompt. The breakfast is very nice. The man at the cappuccino bar, Tamer or Tamem is so friendly, fun, and full of you. I loved seeing him each morning.
Friendly but Tired
Hotel staff are friendly, hotel rooms are tired. No coffe tea in room. Room bathrooms need a deep clean and updating. Dining is buffet and reasonable priced for limited selection. No alcohol.
I liked the location. The staff is incredible and i met the owner such a gentleman
its near the religios sites
Filthy, dirty to the point of health hazard.
Great location! Free parking though need to get there earlier to be sure get available spot. Walking distance to Damascus Gate, bus and light rail stations.
Good location. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere
Great location, polite employees, overpriced
My family and I stayed there for three nights. It's a perfect location outside the old city of Jerusalem. Very close and only 5 minutes walking to the gates. The people are very nice and professional. However, the hotel needs to be updated. I booked through hotels.com and the images were not the same as the room. The room was small and the bathroom was very wornout. I believe it was overpriced compared to other hotels with the same price. The AC was so loud we had to turn it off and open the windows which meant we'd be woken up by the non-stop honking of cars at 6am.
Gross and in a bad part of town.
The men running the hotel were fantastic. Everything else was disgusting. The hotel room itself wasn't clean. I had to flip the mattress because they put it on with the tags where your head is supposed to be. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. Not what anyone would consider clean. The bedding looked like it had been slept on and not cleaned between guests. Hotel bath products were literally the exact same thing with "Shampoo/Conditioner" "Body Soap" labels.
Had to change the room because shower door and shower were broken. Front desk person was very nice and helpful and gave us a different room.
Good place, good breakfast, very friendly staff, I like coming back here. Often very hard to get one queen size bed though, often I have to put two single beds together, which is not ideal.
Good location in central East Jerusalem. Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast included. The facility is a bit older.
The hotel is very nice, breakfast was good. Very close to the old city via Herod’s gate. Staff were friendly and helpful. Abu Husein was the best.
Location was wonderful with 10 minute walk to Demarcus gate and shops with short walk to Via Dolorosa. Breakfast was great start of day
Comfortable stay could use updating
Fairly nice room with comfortable bed. Fairly quiet. Slept well most nights. Breakfast was good.
Jerusalem stay
After a disastrous first night we were moved to a higher floor. This hotel needs to address some basic issues such as mild around air conditioning units and hallway ceilings as well as leaky showers. The staff however were most helpful
The staff were very helpful
Staff very nice and helpful.
Everyone is kind and helpful
Very good breakfast with large selection. Clean room with a bathtub. Staff were friendly. The air conditioning was great and no sound
The hotel staff were all wonderful and considerate. The desk is daily staffed by Hyatt, a professional, courteous, knowledgeable woman who knows many languages and how to answer every question a visitor might have quickly and effectively. She makes everyone feel important and valuable. She is truly an asset to the hotel. The hotel restaurant has a wonderful menu and a pleasant view of the area as you eat. The service is great. The breakfasts were uniformly sumptuous. Breakfast was usually our favorite meal of the day. We never saw the same spread twice! Our trip to Israel will always be remembered framed by those beautiful and delicious breakfasts. The hotel is located near the Damascus Gate of the Old City, within walking distance of many things we wanted to see and do, and within easy access of every bus and train route we needed. We had no problem using Israel's comprehensive public transportation system during our stay while based at this hotel. One final note--the beds were comfortable. We slept well every night. During our stay our party's configuration changed, necessitating a change of rooms, and the new beds were just as comfortable.
I liked that every thing was within a walking distance not too far .. I didn’t like how small the room was and not enough light .. I wasn’t able to make a phone call from my room they need to work on that . The cleaning staff didn’t do a good job cleaning our room I kept finding hair everywhere in the room
Breakfast was excellent!!!! Very sumptuous and the service was very attentive. Also, on the last day, the front desk ordered us a cab to the airport who accommodated our wishes and was very polite and helpful. The drawback is tiny shower cabins and somewhat skimpy supply of shower gel)shampoo and towels. Area is safe and super close to the old part of the city. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!!!
It made me feel like I’m at home
The manager was very nice and friendly. That's the only positive comment I have for this place. I know you're tempted because it's cheap and walking distance to the Old City. But this place is run down and in desperate need of attention. The fridge did not work, they have leaks in the hallway and out of the shower. I could not sit on the toilet because of the sink--poor design. Lopsided and uncomfortable bed, flat pillows, hideous view, curtains did not close completely, I complained about the room and was moved into another, equally crappy room. Neither room looked like any of the rooms pictured. The area made me nervous, but we were safe walking around and eating out. I bit the bullet, checked out early-- no refund-- and checked into a better hotel.
The hall way to my bedroom needed some work. The room was clean but basic. Staff at the hotel were really friendly and very helpful. Food in the restaurant was lovely.
The hotel is nice, but in an area that is not on Google/Apple maps. My main concern was access to transportation because taxi's do not find the hotel easily. The rooms are not very clean, especially if you get a room on the ground and basement level. I booked three rooms and we each got a different experience in rooms. On the last day, the shower door of one of the rooms cracked into small pieces. But overall, the staff is accommodating and will try to help in any way possible.
This hotel was a dream - the location was perfect to walk to old city, the bus stations, the market area. The staff was amazing and so approachable. The breakfast buffet had everything imaginable it was more like a brunch - hummus, scrambled eggs, yogurt, peaches, watermelon. Mushrooms, eggplant, boiled eggs, olives. Tomato, cucumbers, arugala, deli meat, cheese, pastries, cake, pita bread, and more. Every thing was immaculate. Im so glad we stayed there
Great location
So noisy at nighy
Very good
Very nice hotel located very close to the old city. Staff were great, everything clean and in good working order. Only slight issue is the soundproofing of the rooms. I was on the 1st floor and was woken up quite early most days
Perfect location, noisy nevertheless ,clean safe a lovely to stayed
Good location easy access to the gates
10/10 excellent thank you so much
Best hotel in Jerusalem by far. My whole group loved it. Great food. Great location. Lovely service. Thank you from Shahban
Excellent customer service, clean and superb location
Dinner at the restaurant was superb
Big and basic
Had the vibe of a once quite fancy hotel that had since become a bit run down. Room was nice enough and fairly large, but flies in the corner of the bathroom let the place down. Breakfast buffet was fine, but basic. The female receptionist who greeted me was very helpful and friendly.
Good place!
Staff was amazing. They really wanted to help in any way possible. rooms were not as great, changed several ones till i found one that is reasonable. management tried to push me into a room into the basement to keep the updated ones for bigger groups. breakfast is not great, had to wait several times for food to come.
Great location and price, helpful staff
The National Hotel has two major selling points, its location near the Old City of Jerusalem. From it, all the major sights are within a few minutes walk. The second is the price, which is very reasonable. Staff are helpful, breakfast is fabulous and you will encounter a wide variety of visitors in the top floor dining room with great views. The down side is that the hotel is getting a little old and worn. It is great for the price and location, the comfort is acceptable, but this isn't a brand new Hilton. For that you need to stay in the much more expensive and less convenient hotels in the Jewish part of Jerusalem.
Absolutely outstanding service. This hotel has free parking walking distance from Old Jerusalem which was amazing given how difficult parking is to find around here. The room was large and very clean. There was a gym which had all the usual equipment and was larger than most hotel gyms - the floor needs a redo but I understand it is currently being renovated. Breakfast was great - usual morning spread and staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond. Would highly recommend
Nice people. Good hotel
The service was terrible. Un friendly. Un profesional. The a/c did work. The place was dirty. After asking them, they didn’t fix it. The TV didn’t work. Poor service over all. Will never stay there again.
The staff are incredible very nice people always helping us answering all the questions im going back
amazing location, basic but lovely rooms with balconies
We stayed for four days. Part of our shower glass door was missing, water was all over the bathroom. We did not have a refrigerator, even it is included in our room price. They moved us to another room. Refrigerator did not work, shower was working, but towel hanger, on the wall, was broken. Floors are so cold, you need to wear shoes to keep warm.
Clean hotel and friendly staff! Walking distance to tourist spots
Na
The hotel look nice. the inside parking is dirty
Very quite place in the center of the commercial East Jerusalem, I loved the Food, very rich breakfast.
Phenomenal service when we checked in. Great location. Great breakfast. I would 100% recommend this hotel and would stay there again. Very nice interior.
Location was good, facility maintenance was poor. So called gym was horrible no machine was working. Other things in gym was not in good shape also, no heat either. Washroom was just okay. Bed sheet was torn from the side. This facility is good for the groups I guess. Breakfast was excellent.
It was all very splendid. The gym unfortunately was full of equipment that was non functioning
Great location, near Old City, walking distance. A lot of local shops, taxi services to Dead sea, etc. Clean rooms, great food and polite staff.
Renovated to a high standard several years ago. Now looks very slightly dated. Our room needs some attention around the bath with new shower screen and grouting required but this is finicky.

Great for one night. Close to Damascus Gate and The Garden Tomb which was wonderful.
