The rooms were clean and hotel had an overall nice ambiance. Located in an overall walkable area, but is a bit further from some of the sites.

Good hotel

It really didn't feel like I was staying at a 5 star hotel(even tho they say so with awards and everything). The room I booked seemed bigger in the picture(good marketing I guess)than reality. In my room the ceiling was very low and the bed almost cover all the space. The bed decorations seemed old and outdated. That decoration of printing paintings(with frames included) didn't really feel like 5 star decorations, felt cheap, however on the pictures advertised looked good. In the front of the hotel there was an abandoned building where homeless people go and sleep.

This is a beautiful hotel. I very much enjoyed my stay here and would love to return sometime. It's close to everything you might want to do in Prague, including public transportation if you don't want to walk. The staff is very friendly and the room was super comfortable.

I recently stayed at Mystery Hotel Budapest and while the property itself was beautiful and the stay comfortable, I unfortunately had a negative experience when it came to the handling of my deposit. At check-in, a 100 EUR (approx. 15,047 ISK / 40,000 HUF) deposit was taken as a standard procedure. However, after checkout, I was also charged separately for two breakfasts – 20,767 HUF (approx. 7,812 ISK / 52 EUR) – which I paid as an independent transaction. Despite this, the hotel insisted that the breakfast amount was deducted from the deposit. After sharing my bank statements clearly showing the breakfast was charged in a separate transaction, the hotel failed to acknowledge the discrepancy or take any meaningful steps to investigate or correct the issue. To date, the original 100 EUR deposit has not been returned to my account. I tried to resolve this issue directly and reasonably with the hotel, but the response I received simply redirected me to my bank, rather than double-checking their own records. If you’re staying here, I strongly recommend keeping detailed records of any charges and verifying deposit returns carefully. It’s disappointing to have an otherwise pleasant stay overshadowed by poor financial handling and lack of accountability.

A complete charming surprise. This hotel is a real gemstone in the heart of Budapest. Perfect location just behind Nyugati Train Station, stuff with deep service orientation, beautiful room. What can I say, it felt like fairytale ❤️

The property was great with very interesting and quirky design. Staff were exceptional and the way that they treated my dog was some of the best I have ever experienced.

Like everything about this hotel, BUT , the hotel have no health and safety awareness. Stairs have no banisters (hand rail). A friend fell a few steps because of that.

I would very much recommend this hotel as I already have done to all my friends already, you won't be disappointed as it's just a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and beautifully quirky. The only thing I can mark down in the facilities area is that the bar closes at 10:30pm even at the weekends which is considerably early for me. It's also a superb choice for wheelchair users, easily accessible. I really rate this hotel highly and I'd book again!

Beautiful hotel

Lovely room, clean, good size and very comfortable. Really good hot buffet breakfast in the most stunning dining room. The spa was small however it was still a lovely quite spot to relax. Lived the 'hidden garden' theme. The inly issue was the steam room which was just a cold tiled room with barely any steam!

Hotel felt new. Great showers, beds, super clean. Excellent breakfast spread. Very attentive front desk.

Horrible, dirty and loud.

The Mystery Hotel was lovely, staff were polite and attentive. The room was a beautiful maisonette style, however the room temperature setting was too hot. This needs to be left to the room occupier to decide, not the hotel staff. The breakfast was well displayed and tasty. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others in the future.

Beautiful hotel in a great location

Mystery Hotel is a beautiful hotel with spa and excellent restaurant. It is a 20 min walk to tourist areas and has pleasant rooms and staff. The buffet breakfast is excellent and varied. If we ever come to Budapest again we would not hesitate to book here.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mystery Hotel Budapest, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel’s unique and enchanting atmosphere is immediately apparent, with its 19th-century eclectic palace design and intriguing Masonic influences. The decor masterfully blends historical charm with modern luxury, creating a truly special ambiance. The rooms were beautifully designed, with elegant furnishings and thoughtful details inspired by Greek columns in three distinct styles: Corinthian, Ionic, and Doric. My room was not only stylish but also incredibly comfortable, with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the decor and the overall cleanliness made a lasting impression. The hotel’s dining experience was exceptional. The Great Hall Restaurant & Lounge on the fourth floor offered a stunning setting for enjoying delicious international cuisine, and the staff provided excellent service throughout. The Sky Garden rooftop terrace was another highlight, offering breathtaking views of Budapest and a perfect spot to enjoy cocktails and snacks (though it’s worth noting that it may be closed during the off-season). One of the most memorable aspects of my stay was the Secret Garden Spa. It provided a serene and rejuvenating escape with top-notch treatments and facilities. It was the perfect way to unwind after exploring the city.

Really unique rooms and the staff were extremely friendly to us!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and we enjoyed our stay! This hotel is in a great location about 5-8min walk to the train station. 10min walk to House of Terror and shops. 20 min walk to the parliament building. We walked for a majority of our trip finding beautiful architecture and local pubs, restaurants, and cafés. The hotel is beautiful!! The sky rooftop offers beautiful views of Budapest and during sunset/ golden hour made the perfect ambience. We enjoyed the spa although we could not find spa staff to book massages at that time so we just enjoyed the jacuzzi and saunas for the time being. We decided that booking a massage wasn’t a necessity for us. The rooms were unique and spacious although it was a bit creepy having Mona Lisa on the headboard haha but that’s the unique theme of the hotel. The bed was a little firm for our preference but we still slept well. The staff is so friendly and helpful there’s also a turn down service which added a nice touch. We will be returning to Budapest again and would reccomend this hotel to anyone.

Fabulous staff

Very clean and charming

We had such a fantastic time when staying in the Mystery Hotel Budapest. We stayed for 6 nights and the staff could not have done more for us. On arrival we went sent up a bottle of sparking wine for our honeymoon. Everyone was so polite and helpful. The hotel itself is wonderful, it felt 5 star for sure. The spa was lovely, although a little smaller compared to other spas, it’s absolutely worth it as it blows the set up of other spas out of the water. The hotel is always cool and smells lovely. One of our favourite moments of each day was stepping back into the hotel after a day of exploring. Thank you so much Mystery Hotel Budapest, what a honeymoon hotel!

We enjoyed our one-night stay at the Mystery Hotel Budapest. Overall the hotel was inviting, clean, and the spa was a great touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good as well - a standard buffet breakfast.

Absolutely stunning hotel , to be honest the very best we have ever stayed at. Luxurious, spotless, stylish, this hotel exceeded all our expectations. Staff are so helpful and the dining options are amazing. Food was excellent. Definitely will be staying here again. They made us feel like royalty.

Outstanding

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The room was clean and the staff was kind and accomodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Budapest. We walked everywhere we needed to go, but could have taken the transit system easily. This was a quick 4 day trip with my daughter and we felt safe and cared for. The rooftop bar is one of the top 6 in the city, so that was another very special treat. Thank you, Mystery Hotel.

We liked the hotel and its whimsy. The staff was nice and helpful, the location is excellent, the rooms are large. My only complaint is that the roof-top cafe did not automatically go with residency and one evening we could not use it for lack of reservation.

It is a very well maintained hotel, walking distance from the train station. The interior is baroque style design. I like the fact that they kept the style while making the necessary updates. I love the water pressure at my shower.it is very clean. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast very good. We used Bolt app for transportation and walking. All the main landmarks were about 25 to 30 minutes walking distance. Food is amazing at any restaurant you stop by.We enjoyed our stay.

A lovely hotel, staff were very nice and helpful. The Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace was a lovely place to have a drink in the evening, nice views of the river and palace in the distance. The room was clean and quiet, cards left on the bed in the evening with ideas of things to do in Budapest. All in all a wonderful experience.

Lovely hotel but not most convenient

A nice stay in a quirky hotel. Room was lovely and staff very friendly. Only down side, hotel was a little out of the way and we could have stayed more centrally.

It was our wedding anniversary celebration. We stayed at The Mystery Hotel for 5 nights. Every single hotel staff and management team provided attentive professional service. From the front desk, breakfast, and room service to the spa, we are being taken wonderful care of every day. It felt like home. We are rating 10 out of 10 for our amazing experience. The fact that The Mystery Hotel honored the VIP perks and upgrade when available, Expedia should rank it on top of the VIP hotel list. Everyone should look no further and always choose to stay at The Mystery Hotel whenever you are in Budapest.

Fantastic hotel! Short walk from the central train station. Easy to walk for sightseeing to the old town. Great front desk staff.

I would give ten stars if I could. The staff were so helpful and kind, and really went out of their way to help me. I was upgraded to the Mona Lisa suite, and the big luxurious tub was such a treat after a long day traveling. Wonderful shower/toiletries products and lots of thoughtful touches. The bed was large and comfortable. The room and entire hotel are so ornate and beautifully decorated with some fun twists. Limited room service menu, but food was amazing and service was very quick. Nespresso machine with everything you need for the perfect espresso. Breakfast in the great hall had many yummy options. Treated myself to a massage at the spa, which was wonderful. Staff stored my luggage for free after checkout. Such an incredible hotel, wish I could’ve stayed longer. Thank you, Mystery Hotel and staff!

Budapest Meets Miami

Mystery Hotel was one of the fanciest hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. I stayed two nights in two different rooms. I had to add a night because my flight was cancelled but it was very easy to do so. Both rooms had their own styling and art references. I adored the palm wallpaper. I really enjoyed their spa and spent most of my extra day there relaxing. I also got a workout in at their gym. The restaurant is very fancy and upscale dining but surprisingly affordable. Everyone we worked with there was incredibly friendly and helpful. They even called a cab for me for 5:30am so I could catch my flight. Will definitely stay with them again during my next trip to Budapest.

Amazing stay! The room was beautiful and clean. The spa was a great bonus. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. I would recommend this to everyone. It was out of the way of highly touristy areas, but we had no trouble walking or taking the underground to sites. Staff was wonderful and attentive.

The Mystery Hotel was a great place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The immediate neighborhood needs a cafe or bakery to make for a perfect stay. This is not the fault of the hotel.

Lovely hotel

Hotel was lovely and staff were very attentive. Evening meal was excellent however I would have liked a little more choice espiacally for vegetarians. Breakfast was a little disappointing as hot food not as hot as I could have been.

The staff was so pleasant and helpful, very accommodating. The dining area elegant. The decor classy cool. Too short of a stay (overnight) but wish I experienced a spa treatment.

Really nice decor, beautiful rooms and very comfortable beds and excellent shower. The only disappointment was the access to bar facilities. The sky bar was good but service quite slow and shuts at 11pm. The main lounge/bar closed really early; we wanted a drink and some food at 9pm on Friday evening and it was already closed. We never actually had a drink in the main bar because it closed early or it was reserved for a wedding. We could not use the sky bar either in the evening of the wedding because that too was too busy with wedding guests.
