The property was once beautiful and fully functional I’m sure, so was probably great but is now being run by an “offsite” slumlord so not an ideal situation. No office and barely enough tp or clean towels and no one there to ask for more, unless you text and ask and someone will probably show up.. When all the worn out things in room start to break or malfunction they send someone’s uncle to your room (possibly drunk etc.) to “fix” and they refer to him as their engineer lol he’s very nice and ‘resourceful” we will call it but resources are limited so he makes due with what’s available. Knowing what to expect ahead of time would have helped a great deal but was impossible to contact until the day of check in when they text and said staff had to leave the property and since we were planning on paying cash this greatly complicated our trip. The sink drain was plugged with toothpaste caps and pineapple and the huge roll up blind over patio door broke and stayed down, air wasn’t on when we arrived so it was miserable, yet the room they accidentally had us enter first DID have the ac on, there were holes in walls and around windows, rusty burners on the stove, and roach-like bug that crawled out of the grounds in first pot of coffee we brewed while it was brewing, the shower handle and bathroom fan were broken and it takes 20 mins to get shower running and warm-hot with little to no water pressure and then we just left it run while all 4 of us showered with no exhaust fan, hot!
Just make sure to use google maps to get to the place. We got lost for so long!! Other then that it was great
Fantastic views! Room needed some basic maintenance/repairs, but it was clean and spacious. No shampoo or hair dryer provided, so bring your own. Nice pool area. There is what looks to be a restaurant on sight, but it was not open during our stay. No lobby area, but nice decks are available to enjoy the views.
Simply Amazing
Great hidden gem
This is truely a hidden gem. The rooms are spacious and the views are beautiful. The owners do a good job at sending out clear instructions for contactless check in. Only issue was the hot water was temperamental.
Location was amazing. We loved the views. There is a restaurant close by. Good access to Loquillo and food kiosks. Property is somewhat run down. But I would stay here again.
Need a vehicle, hard to uber from location.
Pictures are a lil over exaggerated. Location is very inconvenient and a lil bit scary at times. Could not use the small stove it had a lot of rust on it. The pool and view was beautiful.
Quiet, clean, and spacious rooms. Friendly and responsive staff. Difficult to get to the property, experienced power outage during stay, water is not warm and big enough for taking shower.
The g
I like with a property is located I love the views of the property The housekeeping was amazing The rooms were a little old and outdated. The contact person on how to access the property was no help seem bothered to ask questions on how to access the property continue to advise us to read the email if that was the case then why did they have you as a contact person if I should have just read the email The email is very confusing and doesn't give direct instructions. I believe the owner of the property needs more people to be trained properly in customer service or fluent in English for customer service.
The place was amazing, but When it comes to getting to the place the
The Mountain and Ocean View was a super nice surprise. We needed a place to stay for the night and found it on expedia. We ended up staying 2 nights. The hotel is immaculate and rooms were really cool and spacious with useful kitchenette area. We really felt like we were is the lush green rain forest with amazing views. And it rained which was absolutely beautiful. thanks
Beautiful view 😍
It’s a great property, spacious room, great views though the fixtures and appliances are little old, upgrading those will add to the pleasant experience. The exhaust fan in the made too much noise.
Beautiful views and great location near the beaches and rainforest. 5 Stars.
Ample space. Spectacular views from balconies.
La vista y la tranquilidad lo fue todo! Complacida!
A pesar de estar la propiedad en tan buen sitio o localidad está bien desmejorada, necesita inversion economica para ponerse a la altura de los demás en el area
The facility is old and it reflects that, however, the view is amazing and the pool is good. I would go back.
View was Nice but Lack of Staff Communication
Maybe a little run down but fully functional. We experience everything this place has to offer. Extremely comfortable fluffy bed. Fully functional kitchen with coffee maker. Beautiful view from the room. Unfortunately, you can’t open up windows but they have a great back shared deck to have your coffee and watch the sunrise. Nice pool with a beautiful view from the mountains. We had the whole pool to ourselves. Their’s a grey cat we named Puerto Rico on the grounds. Carabali is a gated community. You’ll have to use a code to get in at night. Also front gate to Inn is a little challenging but you can text and they’ll open for you. The Inn is 12 minute ride to Liquillo beach and Kioskos. 12 min away from El Yunque and 40 min from SJU Airport. Reasonable price. Personally, I feel a better offer with more amenities than B&B with all their fees. My favorite stay on our week stay in PR :)
This hotel was great for the price. My son and I had a great stay. The location was great, very secluded and private. The view is amazing. If you want to cook for yourself, the room has a mini kitchen and pans, etc. It is no frills, if you are looking for a Holiday Inn experience this is not it. This hotel was more of an authentic, local Puerto Rican experience.
Amazing location nestled right in the forest.
Very misleading description.
This place is advertised as a hotel with a bar, restaurant, spa, laundry facilities, and a pool. The only true thing is that there is a pool, and it is quite nice. This is not a hotel. It is an unstaffed (apart from visiting cleaners) ex-hotel that has been turned into a bunch of self-check-in Airbnb rooms. There is no bar, no restaurant, and certainly no spa. I guess one could do laundry in the pool?? It does have a great view which most reviewers are keen on. The location is odd, it is within what seems to be a gated horse farm - you 100% need a car, and there is a ridiculously frustrating gate system to get in and out of the place. The rooms, though spacious, are tired, very basic, and in desperate need of updating. The only communication from the very obviously remote owner is a note saying that you will be charged $25 if you steal a towel - trust me, they are not worth stealing! The sad thing here is that it could be a really fantastic place - unfortunately, it is not. Read the 2-star reviews here, not sour grapes but the truth - I sure wish I had!! My advice would be to look elsewhere.
They canceled my stay the day before my check in due to lack of electricity, offered me a refund and never answered any of my questions regarding the lack of the refund. Terrible communication.
It was a lovely place to stay for two nights while we explored El Yumque
Bad
No instructions provided for check in Told at check in that our 2nd night was canceled… obviously they knew this before we pulled up to the gate, right? When we left after the first night there were still guests there No explanation provided. I don’t get angry about money spent, but I do get testy about inconvenience
Excelente lugar para descansar y pasarla bien en familia. Accesible a lugares turísticos importantes.
Amazing views of the rain forest and the Atlantic Ocean coast.
Beautiful scenery. Room was clean and perfect for a family with a loft for kids.
Really nice place. Enjoyed our time there. Directions from staff to get there was awesome!!!
.
My husband and i extremely enjoyed this place very much!!! It was very relaxing and quiet!!! The view was gorgeous!!!! Just need a few little updates but we would definitely stay here again and recommend this to friends and family!!!! Absolutely gorgeous place!!!! Thank you all for a relaxing, quiet, and peaceful safe!!😊
The property location was amazing
We stayed out of season and had the most wonderful, peaceful few days, with very few other guests in the hotel. The views over El Yunque were breathtaking. The hotel is very convenient for the Carabali Rainforest Adventure Park - great for pony rides into the rainforest or down to the beach. It is only a short drive back to the Carretera 3 freeway to find places to eat.
Super chevere
Amazing property with incredible views. The kids really injoyed the layout of the room.
Beautiful views! Located in the hills of Carabalí Rainforest. Very quiet. Overall a good stay!
La super recomiendo, excelente vista y super tranquila ..
We had a great time!
Para el precio esperaba mas atención a la limpieza
Property and view were nice. The staff responded fast to messages
Description said dining and this is false
Beds need updated...
The ovean view was more mountain with ocean in far distance view, beautiful nonetheless. The room door didnt feel as secure as it could have been. The bedside lamp malfunctioned. The balcony was not as private, neighbors conversations can be clearly heard. Though the multiple step process to access the site was explained it seemed more cumbersome than it was worth it. The bath towels supplies were small and flimsy in quality. There is need of dusting visibly dirty areas below from the upstairs bed room. This site has potential, but needs some improvement.
The property has a beautiful view and they upgraded my room for free. Restaurant in the building was closed so we had to drive to be able to eat breakfast and other meals. The only employee that you see around is the one for maintenance. For any question is only calling to a cellphone number. Expedia says has laundry available but I never found it.
The rooms are perfect
He will take care of you.
We did not get to stay at this location due to hotel mistake. The host knew we needed place to stay and made a deal with a host who put us in a cozy beach room for about $40 more... we missed seeing this place, but they really took care of everything we needed. We had no complaints....
The staff was fantastic and the views were amazing! It wasn't an easy property to get to...in the mountains. Check-in and out was easy and the pool area was well maintained and lovely.
Front desk staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The cleaning staff didn’t provide sufficient amenities when we asked. The room and the view were nice, but because the staff were unfortunately so inhospitable, we won’t be back and would not recommend this hotel.
Beautiful views, great service, will definitely book again in the future.
Great little vacation spot amazing pool with a view
It was a nice family environment
Great view, great location. Will stay here again.
Place nice, check in not so much
Tried checking in during their posted hours on the door and information had recieved from them but no one there. Texted them and they said a form of payment was not recieved upon booking and to pay by paypal link in text. Communicated to them had already set up payment through hotels.com. after going back and forth they finally had a code and a way to get in. When we went in, the lock was very loose and we needed to tighten the screws on the strike plate and door. The place itself was very accommodating.
Good day
The room was clean but poor presentation need paint and a few remodelation.
Beautiful location with amazing views of the ocean in the distance and the mountains right behind the property. I would stay here again. Room could use some updating but it worked for a short stay with family of four with school age kids. There are no on-site food or drink options, not even a vending machine, so need to bring bottled water with you. I loved the secluded and small feel to the lodge compared to the hustle and bustle of Luquillo just a few minutes away.
HARD PASS
We did not check-in as the place was not as described. As long as we are not charged I will not take issue as we were given the option to cancel on the spot. There was not a restaurant or bar or spa. I was told to look for an email for arrival instructions, and therefore did not check my phone for a text. It turns out that I was sent a text 10 minutes prior to check-in. The place was run down, deserted, uncomfortable & unwelcoming - actually kinda creepy. They did have a pool & a view, but not a nice place to stay. I was looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay at a nice place after a long day and this dod not fit the bill.
Amazing views
Amazing views of the ocean and mountain. Very nice pool with view. You can enjoy the sunset in the patio. Great for enjoying the starts at night and listening to the wildlife. This would be a great place for weddings and other gatherings.
Nice stay near the rain forest with pool. Room is dated and needs some repairs but overall clean. Kids liked loft area. My room 7 had no internet so also did not have a working roku or tv. Close to nearby food and attractions.
The location is wonderful. Amazing views of the valley and ocean from the hotel. However, beds were not comfortable and very few amenities (no shampoo or conditioner or place to hang damp clothing). But the air conditioning does work and it is a very safe location.
Literal paradise retreat in the mountains but only 5 mins from the beach. You will receive a text message with information on day of arrival. The office was closed when we arrived but I texted to number to inform them we here and they met us promptly.
Not the greatest. Needs maintenance
The place is in a great location with a nice view but this place needs a lot of maintenance. The bathroom had a very loud fan and I mean very loud. If you turn it on in the middle of the night, you will wake up everyone sleeping in the room. It also seems it had not been cleaned up in years. Had a big lump of dust on the grill. The beds squeak as well. Bed is not too comfortable. Blinds to block the sun need repair. The outside of the building also needs repairs. Doors into the rooms make a lot of noise and you will be woken up by other guest slamming front doors. Furniture in the room is not comfortable either and a very small 27 inch tv. Water is the shower has no pressure. Sad because this place has alot of potential
Great view, tranquil, nice pool area, bring your own hotspot you'll love it even more.
Our hotel room and the pool were both clean and comfortable, and the view of the ocean is lovely. But the restaurant was closed during our stay (it was listed as open, with breakfast available) and reception was also closed, so we found our room keys by coordinating with the owner over the phone. We still had a nice time in the end, but were surprised to show up at an otherwise empty property, based on the hotel listing.
Amazing!!! A little tricky to find but once you find it… WORTH IT!
The property was dirty and rooms where not that great. There was now one on property to talk to you had to talk through text messages. All and all the less than 24hrs staying there they had rebooked us and didn't tell us tell the day of. I would not recommend this place to anybody. The place was not staffed and need a lot o maintenance done to it.
We had a great time staying in this hotel, which is located on a hilltop with an ocean view. The room is well-designed and clean, in a loft style. The staff are very friendly. It's a 14-minute drive from the beautiful beach nearby.
The staff was very nice. The room was OK little dirty, but we were supposed to stay there for our whole trip, and they moved us to somewhere else promised us king bed with the ocean view and a balcony, and this hotel didn’t even have that.
Top of the world
Cool lodging. Squeaky bed. (Room 10) Good mountain views. Gates make it a challenge to get in and out. Make sure to call for help.
This is a strange place. In the course of 3 days we saw no staff except the cleaning crew. There's an empty restaurant on site. I felt like i was in a tropical version of The Shining. But the rooms are clean and nice, the views on the ocean side are unparalleled. The balcony was lovely and the pool glorious. So stay here but don't be surprised if the ghost if Scatman Crouthers appears and you slowly go crazy.
Good
We had a beautiful stay on top of the mountain! Felt like a private hacienda with a beautiful view and private balcony. Staff was very nice and respectful. Close to yunque and shopping/eateries. Very convenient to the beach and food kiosks as well. Can’t recommend enough!
Mountain and Ocean View Lodge | Hotel in Luquillo | Travala.com
This lodge while somewhat dated, is in a GORGEOUS setting with (as expected) beautiful views of the ocean in the distance (only 10 -15 minute drive away to beach areas in Luquillo) and the mountains right behind property. Staff was friendly and attentive. We did have a little difficulty communicating in English, but the what couldn't get figured out was quickly solved using Google translate. Even with very specific directions sent ahead of check-in, the property is a bit confusing to find. Definitely try to arrive before dark and you should be okay.
