This hotel is very close to the beach. Walkable everywhere. The staff were great. Very friendly and professional. I would definitely stay here again. The price was ok to be so close to the beach. The breakfast was delicious. I definitely stay here again.
Sewer leaking from ceiling of bathroom into the tub, cracked shower, had mold everywhere. The bed linens were thin and itchy and didn’t smell great. They couldn’t change my room and wouldn’t give me a refund.
Great location. Good food. Nice attention
Good hotel but be prepared to pay for bag storage
Good location, one block back from the beach. Room was at the back with a small window looking out to a dark service area was it was nicer to keep the curtain closed throughout my two night stay. Nice size room and bathroom with a good bathroom and shower. Rooftop pool and terrace is nice with good views but pool quite small. On check out I asked to store my bag for a couple of hours and was told there was a charge for it! Never known that in any hotel I've ever been in before so I didn't bother, got a taxi to the hotel I was changing to and left it there for free.
The receptionist Ana was very helpful and accommodating she changed ours room from one floor to other. That made the big difference..
Close to Copacabana beach
Property is runned down. Hallways, elevators, bathrooms need some serious upgrades. Wouldn’t stay here again nor recommend a friend.
Free breakfast and the view on top of the hotel
This hotel ranks as one of the worst stays I’ve ever had at a hotel. We booked during Carnaval a room with three beds each for 6 girls but needed to add one more to the reservation (we had 5 and needed to add 1). The hotel never responded to the request even after Expedia contacted them twice on our behalf and then they wanted to charge us thousands more for the extra person (no change in room). The manager was rude and Expedia eventually had to intervene (thanks Expedia!). The pool is small and the breakfast was the highlight. It was really just okay but we suspect it got most of us sick. One of us witnessed a man get his phone taken in broad daylight just outside the hotel. Overall, I would never return.
nice hotel clos4e to copacanana nd many dining options
Not a hotel - more like a nice motel. They didn’t fix my washroom for 5 days. They didn’t have a clothes iron etc etx
I had my passports stolen from my room and the staff did very little to help recover or even investigate. The facility was also very run down - gym was old and didn’t work, sauna wasn’t working.
Great locations, lovely breakfast and staff were friendly and helpful. Very limited storage space in our room. Would use this hotel again
Hotel lost power for 4 hours the day I checked in. Pool did not look clean and was very small. Leak in room and hot water was off and on. Moldy smell in room. Morning buffet was only good and consistent thing at this hotel. 1/5 stars.
Run like the wind
Everything was broken needed to redo keys 3 times before they worked check in was terrible the staff rude avoid at all costs
Adequate hotel, cost was too high fir the amenities and WiFi and television services available.
I reserved a room that said it slept 4, and showed a picture of what appeared to be t queen or king beds. Upon arrival, they only had 1 king bed. I complained and they were only willing to move it to two twin beds, since there were only 2 of us, but I had wanted to sleep in different big beds from my brother and have extra room. I tried to book and additional day and it set I’ll advertised what looked Like 2 queen beds and sleeping 4. I booked it and they were unable to accommodate my reservation- just one king or 2 twin beds… thank god I did not have the 4 people it was supposed to sleep
The property is close to the beach, it walkable place. However while I was there the power went out for the entire day. Also my room smelled like a septic tank. I asked if they could do something about they did nothing. Also my room did not have hot water the first two days. Overall terrible experience.
Hotel was very clean. Good location, just 2 blocks from Copacabana beach. Breakfast included and was good. The room was small and not very confortable. Room had much humidity odor, that was not good for my allergies, asked for change but I was said they need to evaluate due occupation, and they never came back. Surrounding area is not the most pretty. Pool and gym very small, so we didn’t used.
Copacabana heaven!
The room was great. AC was very cold, and the bathroom was great with our own personal sauna. Great location a block or two off the strip. Some amenities were a bit outdated. The rooftop was great. The bar however, was a bit strange. Gym AC was broken, they didn't fix it for the last two days there, and made it impossible to work out in in the heat. Staff was very friendly and super accommodating otherwise.
Yeah it’s a few blocks from the beach but great Buffet breakfast. Money exchange close by Metro like a few minutes away Laundry across the street very spacious rooms a little dated but staff were wonderful I didn’t want to leave
Breakfast was amazing. Very extensive. Pool on roof was a little oasis w bar.
*** Unsafe. Hotel staff doesn't care about guest safety *** On my first day, I was assaulted in the vicinity of the property in broad daylight. I spoke with the hotel staff, showed them my bruises and black eye, and requested to check out early. I left 4 days early, plenty of time to fill the room with another guest, but the hotel refused to give me even a partial refund, despite the circumstances. They were very cold and uncaring about the whole situation, which made things feel even worse.
Fantastic service and amenities
I really loved this hotel and came back twice because the hotel is so nice with lots of extra services. The stuff like bag storage and beach towels were an added touch. As well, the rooms had lots of twin sized beds, which the Western countries can learn from. As well as a bidet! These are luxuries in North America and seemed pretty standard. Front desk also spoke some English which was very helpful. Breakfast was also really amazing, plenty of options and variety.
Amazing property! Good value for money! Recommended for families with children!
Old, tired, internet service so slow I could not work remote, waited for 40 mins for food then they forgot.. lift is the slowest, waiting continually, breakfast poor quality and limited. Pool is micro size and not that clean.
The facility was not what we expected according to the price we paid per night. Bathroom had a strange distribution and was a bit hard to move inside because the door was almost hitting the lavatory, matress was in a bad condition, AC was leaking inside the room and towels were not changed even though we ask them several times after 6 nights in the hotel. We reserved two rooms and unfortunately both were in the same condition.
They could improve their pillows… other than that it was amazing
Affordable
Well located excellent staff with some able to communicate in English and Spanish.
The hotel is very central the breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. My only concern was the renovations taking place and not being informed when we checked in.. the location is amazing easy walking distance to Copacabana beach and all the sights
Staff and breakfast were great
Extremely short walk to beach Avenida Atlântica (1 block 1/2). Uber is so cheap to get around Rio but you can literally walk outside to find bars, restaurants and shops. Staff was helpful and pleasant.
We were placed in a terrible room. It was so bad that we did not want to stay there and go somewhere else. It was noisy with holes in the walls to the street, a very loud air conditioner and we did not sleep at all. The room was in very poor condition. The next day they placed us in a better room that had been upgraded with a better more quiet air conditioner. However our last night there we were awakened by noisy guests next door who disrupted our sleep for several hours. The pool was very dirty. There was a wonderful lady at the front desk who helped us very much. The breakfast was very good but could not get access to it until very late on our first morning there because of the huge crowds.
Great location but Poor Mgr & front desk
Location is central to everything. A block away from Cocopana beach and other major tourist spots. The hotel is okay, the pool is small and so are the rooms . Plus there was some plumbing concerns. Biggest turn off was hotel manager ( older brunette lady) , shorter bald head receptionist, and the older front desk receptionist with dirty blonde hair - completely rude and unprofessional. I notice they acted indifferent towards becuase I was American and of richer skintone. The older lady with the blonde hair was rude pushy and even charge me for breakfast when it was included in my reservation. The bartender in the pool area was rude aswell. Waited awhile to order a drink and barely acknowledged me. Poor hygiene and manners, cough directly in face without covering her mouth. She was coughing and sneezing while preparing people's drinks Not once did I her wash her hands. The only people who stood out to me was the hospitality manager, I believe she was over the restaurant area and I think her name was Allison. She was kind , gracious, always smiling- such a beautiful person. She made efforts to connect with everyone around her and was even helped to check me in. This lady went above and beyond . Another great employee there was Anthony, friendly, helpful and way more approachable than the rude staff I encountered.
So so Hotel...
Overall experience was Ok.... great location, good AC and good breakfast but that's about it. Room was kind of small, water dripping noise all night long, small pool, no towels for the pool, fridge wasnt working in the room, warm water in the room and bald headed guy at the front desk very rude.
bad experience
old and noisy hotel!!!
Property is very outdated. Rooms are poor insulated A/C was very noisy. There was no service whatsoever plain breakfast no bartending or cocktails available. There were no Beach/pools towels available throughout our stay everytime we asked.
Great / WiFi needs it’s no the best! Very slow
We had a wonderful time staying at the Mirasol for our first trip to Brazil and Rio! Thank you for everything!
Old style Copacabana hotel badly in need of renovation (apparently some floors have been but not where i stayed, which was tired, with things working/not working erratically). Cannot fault the staff though, who were excellent.
Maneger and employees unprofessional no nice rude the door card not working 6 times need to go down again to explain. The door is not open. Unacceptable. not happy at all.the housekeeper is very nice I like it that’s my point
Poor Apartment, I won’t call that hotel. Over priced for sure. Very old room… forget about the jacuzzi “ presidential room lol” Rate shouldn’t be over $70usd. Won’t recommend it
Would recommend to anyone traveling to Rio
Meanhearted people. No upgrades. Unkind. Will never come back.
Fine for a one night stay
The hotel was OK for our one night stopover but we're glad that we booked elsewhere for our main trip to Rio. Although the rooms are a very good size, the hotel feels dated - most notably the two old lifts servicing 18 floors (long wait). The location is good - close to the beach and metro. We were surprised to have to pay 20 BRL to store our bags for a couple of hours after check out.
Breakfast good,no water in pool, priority #1 elevator damaged,
They didn't honor my Expedia Gold benefits. Wifi was terrible, rooms were bare nothing, I would not recommend the hotel.
Great, shower, bed friendly workers and clean.
Great value for money, as the rooftop here is simply the greatest. Rooms are a good size and the hotel is clean all-around. Location is incredibly central to the tourism area, a quick stroll to the main Copacabana Beach among other attractions. Only one minor incidence of the hotel bar closing before it was supposed to - the front desk told me to buy drinks from the hotel's restaurant instead, then the hotel bar opened up again and wouldn't let me take the hotel restaurant's drinks to the roof.
Good place close to the beach , but not good stuff to fix toilet problems.
The room was disappointing. Service was meh. Room felt dirty. Bathroom toilet was unclean. Sand on floor. The list goes on unfortunately. Will never return or recommend. The roof was beautiful that was it
Please raad this review before booking: So many issues with this hotel: Once i got to the hotel, safety deposit box didn’t work. I asked the reception, they said they don’t have anyone to fix it and i had to wait till tomorrow, I didn’t know what to do with my passport and cash.. etc(you know Rio not safe at all) Fab doors key didn’t work for almost 11 times, we were at 11th floor and with only two slow elevators, tooks so much time time to go down and ask then to fix the card!! Sink bathrooms and toilet not working well, every time we had an issue The WORST THING, we talked to manager and Nothing happened!
Pros: Great Multi-level roof deck roof deck! Gym, steam sauna, pool and bar Convenient location. Near subway and the beach. Big room and bathroom. Bed and bad we ok. Cons: Staff was not very friendly. They just did their job and lacked professionalism and kindness. The hotel needs repairs and is in bad conditions in places. The worst thing were 2 really disguising stain covered, filthychairs in the room ,The only 2 chairs. I took pictures and showed them to reception. They sent 1 new chair but left the other 2. Obviously they were not going to clean them and the did not clean them. They just left them there for the rest of my. They so disgusting you would even want to touch them. Clearly management is poor there and you can see it in the staffs attitude, lack of helpfulness and lack cleanliness.
Tout était parfait
the room had cockroach
Great hotel in Copacabana
Mirasol hotel was great. Great location and helpful staff. The room was clean and everything worked properly.
An American in Rio
Pros: Great location ( close to beach) Good service 1) Rafael at front desk helped me alot 2) Moses at the breakfast gave excellent service and made me feel welcome 3) Great breakfast area 4) Excellent Shower and bathroom Cons: Lobby air conditioning is bad The Room is pretty ugly and old Pool is small Gym is small Internet in room is bad View from the pool is amazing Overall, good for a short stay
This hotel does not allow guests, which was very disappointing. They should make this known upfront before people book. I was not allowed to enter with my guests.
Lovely stay
We enjoyed a 4 night stay at this hotel at the beginning of our 3 week trip travelling around Brazil. The reception team were helpful and spoke good English providing us with help and advice on trips etc. The breakfast was the best we had during our holiday, buffet style but a little different every day with fresh fruit, cakes, juices, coffee and hot items like eggs and meat. The pool area was nice - clean, in the sun all day and enough loungers/chairs for guests while we were there. We ordered drinks from the bar and they were brought up to us. The rooms were basic but comfortable. Location was excellent, a few minutes walk to the beach and bars/restaurants.
Poor sound insulation Old uncomfortable mattresses and dirty Broken plugs Unpleasant lobby staff
Really liked the location, did not like having twin beds for me and my husband.
Need of an update
The room I stayed in was very small and dark. The pictures were better than real life. The hotel is in definite need of an update.
Close to the beach and nearby establishments. Very convenient
Ideal for Copacabana Beach
This hotel is a 5 minute walk from Copacabana Beach. There is a bountiful breakfast supplied as well. Overall the hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly and will help out.
Nice hotel, excellent staff!
Staff went above and beyond to help me have a wonderful stay at Rio. Especially Marx at the reception was one of the most helpful people I have ever met! He deserves all the credit! Thank you Marx! Room was clean and nice, bathroom was stunning There was a major issue with the room, as it was not quite. At night I could hear the elevator machine noise which would go up until 2-3am when people used it. That was unpleasant as I needed to rest. Overall it is a great hotel to stay as far as you don't get the noisy rooms!
Friendly service, Close to the beach!
Very close to the beach, friendly service, excellent breakfast.
Everything its great. The employees are very friendly and excelente customer service skills.
Noise! No ac! No view.
The air conditioning didn’t work and everyone an elevated stopped on the flood or someone opened the door it woke me.
Great hotel, moments from the beach
My best friend and I recently returned from our 9 night stay at Mirasol. The hotel is great value for money - friendly and accommodating staff, good selection of food for breakfast, very clean in general with a lovely pool and sun terrace with views of the beach and the amazing Christ the Redeemer! The hotel is minutes from Copacabana beach and is surrounded by convenient stores, restaurants and other hotels. Also only a few minutes from a metro station. We stayed on the 1st floor in one of the newly renovated rooms which was very spacious. Initially, we were actually quite concerned to be staying on the 1st floor as we are two young girls in our 20s and had heard all the ‘dangers of Brazil’ but the floor is more like a 3rd floor as the reception and bar are on the 1st, restaurant on the 2nd and then rooms start on the 3rd. There is 24 hour reception and security outside with the doors of the hotel closed at night who only allow guests to enter the hotel. In general we found the country a lot safer than all of the horrors we read about - given that you stay vigilant, don’t wave your phone or jewellery around and don’t walk around late at night or go into ‘no go roads’ then you should be absolutely fine. I would definitely recommend walking to Ipanema beachor Leblon beach (around 15/20 minute walk from Copacabana Beach) as we found it a lot cleaner, less crowded and more beautiful. I will definitely be returning to Brazil in the future and would happily stay at Mirasol again.
Great breakfast, decent hotel
Hotel was decent. Arrived before check-in time. Hotel held our luggage for us in secured room. It seemed that the hotel did a lot to make sure guests were safe. The lobby was large and cold if you sat in it for too long. The pool area was nice. The pool is on the smaller side. There is a workout center on the roof near the pool with lounging space on the roof. The elevators were slow and didn't go all the way to the pool area. You had to get off on one floor and take a flight of stairs up to the pool area. The room layout was weird to me. I didn't care for the small hallway with counter space right next to the entry door. No luggage racks. The bathroom was large, however I could hear everything my neighbors did next to me and above me. The ceiling in the bathroom was also quite strange. I didn't care for the towel rack inside the shower. The breakfast here was the best breakfast I had in all the hotels I stayed at in Brazil. I felt it had the most selection and was presented very well. The food was fabulous. It's a bit of a busy street, so a little crazy getting into and out of cars here. Staff was nice, but not particularly friendly. Quite a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Area felt safe enough. Couple of blocks from the beach. I didn't have a very good view out of the window. Wi-Fi was ok.
Good hotel close to beach, great reception staff
Superb location just 3min from Copacabana beach. Reception staff simply outstanding and with great English skills! Breakfast was very good. The room is a bit outdated and the AC is extremely noisy (it's impossible to sleep with AC on). In the corridors, evelators and all premisses of the hotel (other than the reception hall and the breakfast room) there is no AC so you will feel sweaty once you leave your room.
RIO 4 nights
Nice 4 nights with friends
Very good hotel w/excellent(free breakfast)pool w/beautiful view and very kind, sweet and friendly staff!!!I will definitely return!
Great location
Good Hotel close to Copacabana Beach
Great Hotel very close to the famous Copacabana Beach in Rio. Just a short walking distance to beach. Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms nice and clean, restaurant had good meals including a very nice buffet breakfast. Close to shopping and Rios attractions. Would recommend staying here
for the price, can have better hotel
I I thought it was better.
the rooftop lounge and view is incredible
amazing rooftop area, rooms are basic but clean, great breakfast, two blocks from the beach
This hotel was amazing!! We really enjoyed how close to the beach they are located, but far enough to restaurants and bars outside of the beach strip. The team was incredibly nice and responsive. They have great recommendations on where to go for food, music, beaches, art, etc. I will definitely recommend this location.
Convenient and clean hotel
Good value hotel with easy access to Copacabana beach and transport.
The breakfast buffet has a good variety and is fresh. The breakfast room is comfortable and with natural light. They allowed our additional family members (who stayed in a different hotel) to join the breakfast for 60 Reais.
Nice and convenice hotel
Very nice breakfast buffet and close to a beach and sugar lofu. Also it is easy to take a van to crystal deem.
Good Location but was not value for money
I expected a better quality hotel for what we paid for. It was ok, location is ok, but you still need to watch yourself. The air-conditioning in our room was very noisy and kept us up, The pool is on the roof and is not very functional and was not maintained. It would be ok if we paid 75% less for what we got.
Elevator was broken so it was easier to catch a cab in the streets than an available elevator. Room wasn't properly clean; there were dirty plates outside the room for 2 days.
Overall a good choice
Stayed 2 nights. Good staff. Rooms are a little dated, not much space around the bed. Old style air-conditioning, very noisy. Laundry takes 48hrs and is incredibly expensive. Launderette around the corner is cheaper and they'll do it for you same day :) Good Breakfast buffet Good Location for Copacabana beach and areas. Organised Favela tour and full day tour with a driver. Competitive priced. Fixed price taxi to airport available - good price! Would be nice if they organised airport pickup!
Nice low-key and friendly hotel.
Nice small hotel in a side street steps away from Copacabana Beach. Staff is friendly and service is excellent. Breakfast was plentiful with many choices and great coffee.
OK hotel
Good hotel. Convenient location 2 blocks from the beach. My room wasn't very big but bed was ok and bathroom was big and clean. Breakfast is abundant.
Great experience at Mirasol hotel
Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. We loved everything except the A/C in our room which wasn't cool enough. Lovely breakfast every morning. Friendly staff, especially Anna Paula at the Reception desk and Beata!!! Both ladies made our stay extra special. Great tours offered at the hotel, we bought 3 and everything was just wonderful.
Good location and service
Stayed for just one night at the hotel during a business trip to Brazil. The hotel is well located, close to restaurants and shops. The hotel staff are great. Hotel facilities are good but could do with upgrading.
Location of hotel o.k. Near beach, bus and metro.
No wifi on my floor which was terrible. ( my friend in the room nextdoor could not get online either) . Could not use my tablet to get online. After they sent someone the next day ( the day after I complained ) I had wifi for 5 minutes. After that nothing........ 2 pc's In the lobby. One did not function ( think it had a virus ), other one was busy every time I wanted to use it, so I gave up. Do think 3 days without wifi is a no go. Breakfast, room o.k..
Rio is beautiful
Pool was out of service- but it is winter time here in Rio, they will have it ready by August 2015.
Nice week in Copacabana
Nice hotel for the price. Convenient location to beach and other attractions, didn't have bartender at pool when I went to rooftop, but was nice pool.
Great location
I have stayed at Mirasol around 20 times over the last 15 Years. I was pleased to see many new upgrades over the last two years. Great staff, I've never had a problem at this Hotel. It is always my first choice when I need a Hotel in Rio.
Nice hotel for a good price
The hotel is OK. I found a good deal at last moment. It is just two blocks away from the beach (Copacabana Beach) and from the metro station. The room and bed were comfortable. I had free wifi and breakfast was included. The staff was good and helpful. Even though they don't speak English very well or Spanish, only one of them speak the English/Spanish fluently, they were helpful telling me and my friend were to find places to eat, buy some traveler stuffs and how to get to the places. Stay was very pleasant.
Good stay
The staff speaks English and is very good with storing luggage. The breakfast was very good. The tv channels had problems with volume control. The shower was super powerful!!! It's like a power washer. The view from the roof was wonderful too. Two blocks from the beach.
Nice hotel, with some maintenance problems
There were two problems: in the evening, when I was taking shower, water stopped running, and then re-appeared later as brownish liquid, with plenty of rust-- apparently some plumbing was done. The room was fine but the a/c was old and noisy.
Excellent stay in Copacabana!!!
It was an amazing hotel. We requested an early check-in and was accommodated. The room was perfect, clean and comfortable beds. The wifi service was extremely important to us and the service was excellent. The breakfast was delish with lots of varieties. They had a roof top pool with an amazing view of the city and the mountain. I will definetly stay here again.
room
Very nice hotel, helpful staff and good service. Room was slightly vintage, but the small pool on roof was fun. One block from the beach and close to tourist sites. I recommend it.

Inside was nice. Food could definitely be better. Ran out of hot water during my shower on the last day. They didn’t bother us but there was a few homeless people camped out around the hotel entrance. Overall the stay felt authentic but would definitely raise concern for your average tourist.
