Stay was nice and quiet

No restaurant. No shuttle.

Website description and staff said airport shuttle available.when I called desk I was told shuttle wouldn’t start until May! Disappointed because that’s why I chose the hotel. Also website said restaurant on site but it was closed. Property very old and needs update. Kitchenette had no pots or dishes or cutlery. No coffee or tea set up. No cup that could be used in microwave. I wouldn’t stay there again. Disappointed with the inaccuracy. Difficult to plan without honest information

Great little hotel

Not great, not terrible

The place itself was rather run down. Seemed to be in the process of being refurbished. My room was nicely done but most of the place was being used to house renters down on their luck. Not a problem but I would bet their rooms were not so nice. My room had no heat. I was eventually given a space heater but really, it is winter. Some staff were very nice and others preferred to ignor requests while rolling their eyes.

Quiet

We have stayed at other hotels in anchorage but we always come back to Merrill field inn. It’s a clean no muss no fuss hotel. Friendly staff and pretty good breakfast available.

Older hotel but clean and comfy for the night. On the industrial end of town but we did not feel unsafe. Offers transportation/shuttles to/from airport or Railroad station. Very kind driver. There’s an excellent Chinese Restaurant right next door and it was absolutely delicious - don’t judge that book by the cover! I wish they were in my town.

The hotel is really clean and quiet. I really expected it to be noisy because it's near the airport, but I rarely hear planes taking off. I needed to photocopy my papers and the staff did it for free. That's costumer service!!!! I would return to this hotel again if I ever go back to Anchorage.

The staff makes this hotel. They were so accommodating and communicative. We arrived quite early, but they "pre" checked us in and told us when the room would be ready. They had a nice breakfast area with lots of tables and chairs, and water and coffee. So we sat there until the room was ready - 15 minutes earlier than expected. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were several places to eat in walking distance, including several "fast food" restaurants. We had a free shuttle to the airport in the morning; the airport was a 10 minute drive.

Was not super impressed with the room…. This facility needs to be updated

Tired property is in need of updates. Location is right across the street from the small-plane airport, but its not a walkable area. However, its clean, the staff is friendly, and a much more affordable option than others in Anchorage. Hotels are expensive in Anchorage!

The Merrill Field Inn seems to provide modest accommodations for a modest price. The condition of the rooms is acceptable, but not exceptional. If you’re interested in a place to stay overnight that doesn’t cost a lot of money, then this is a good choice. My room had all the basics (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, TV), and the Wi-Fi was good.

Staff are ok, van service was ok but van smells like ashtray. will not book again though.

An OK hotel, built on 2 floors, with no elevator, so luggage had to be carried up the stairs. There is an attached Chinese Restaurant. The hotel does offer shuttle service to the airport, as well as downtown Anchorage.

Looks like it was built in the 1980s and hasn't been renovated since then. It looks like tjey repainted the rooms, but did a very poor job.

We chose this hotel based on the free airport shuttle and room rate. Our room was very clean, had a refrigerator and microwave, and had been updated. The hotel is really a motel style with outside corridors but it was quiet. The location is just ok, however with a car or for a short stay, it would be fine. Definitely a bargain compared to other hotels in Anchorage.

What I liked about the property; The property was located very near the down town area on Highway 1, that allowed for easy access to and from shops and restaurants. It was also located across the street from the very busy Merrill Field air port. What I disliked; The entry door of the room I occupied was difficult to open or securely lock. It appeared to have been forced open and severely damaged near the door latch mechanism and not repaired properly. The room also smelled of sewer gas that was masked with a strong but non-effective air freshener. The small aircraft taking off and landing created a lot of excessive noise.

The outside of the hotel was tired and a little shabby looking, but the room was spacious and clean.

The room was clean enough I didn't feel like I needed a shower after being inside. The bed was extremely hard. The breakfast was edible but wasn't anything to be excited about. The owner wasn't a particularly hospitable person either. Overall, it was a room I won't be sad to forget. Thankfully it was easy on the wallet.

Great Manager and Staff

This is a no-frills motel; however, the experience was wonderful. The staff are all very friendly. The propert manager, Anthony, does an excellent job of caring for your needs. The place offers free rides to downtown or to airport 24/7 durin the tourist months. In addition, there is a free hot breakfast. We've stayed here 3 times now and would stay again.

Inn was super clean. It is dated but economical and clean. Offers free transportation shuttle and the driver is polite and friendly Picked us up at the airport. Took us downtown to dine and walk around and picked us up when we called. We tipped nicely. The are looks sketchy but we were safe and sound. You want affordable and clean with friendly staff choose Merrill Fields Inn. And they have a nice free breakfast

Need a on.going bus route...hop on.hop off type in the city

We stayed at Merrill Field Inn overnight for an afternoon flight. We hoped to have time to sightsee in Anchorage but the timing was tight. The hotel was very helpful: dropping us off in downtown to catch a trolly tour picking us up after the tour an bringing us back to the hotel bringing us to the airport for our flight A stressless way to get some last minute sightseeing in.

What was lacking in decor and a decent mattress, Max more than made up for in caring about his guests. I value excellent customer service. Max, Anthony and his wife delivered. A shuttle where and when we requested was provided, complete with a valiant attempt at sighting moose on the way to the airport…at 3:30 am!

Property a bit dated, but I kinda like the old style Inns. Very clean and neat and the staff super helpful. Responsive to all our needs. Area around hotel not the best, but I would definitely stay there again. Chinese restaurant next door was pretty much the best meal we had in Alaska.

A good value for this area.

Our room with two beds was spacious and clean. The overhead and vanity lights kept going off or wouldn't turn on at all, and our door lock had to be replaced. Great shower though, and breakfast in the lobby was plentiful and good. Overall a good value for this location.

Property was conveniently located near restaurant. Room was not cleaned thoroughly, and the washbasin was dirty. The overall quality and services offered did not justify the price we paid.

Appreciate the use of the freezer for fish boxes

This place desperately needs some renovations. Our 1980's coffee table had a deep burn scar, and the room reeked of 40 year old cigarette smoke. But, it's cheap, so you get what you pay for. The shower was the roomiest one we'd has on the whole trip, so at least that's nice.

Hotel shuttle was fantastic. Pick up at airport and drop off at train station next morning all on time. Also took us to shopping and dining locations. The breakfast was great! Hot and cold selections and to-go selections as well.

Homeless tent city 2 blocks away.

It was old & in disrepair. Also had bugs (not bedbugs I dont think). Even shuttle in am was not efficienyt not getting me to airport til 40 minutes before my flight!

The staff is great. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Rooms were not super clean. I would avoid this as price is not cheap either.

We loved the free shuttle and drivers. Hotel staff when checking in was friendly but when leaving in the early morning staff was a bit grumpy. Please note the hotel is not handicap accessible. I'd asked for an accessible room but it wasnt and was actually challenging to get in and out of with my walker. The hotel is a bit out in the middle of nowhere but the Asian restaurant next door is decent. For the price and the free shuttle I'd stay again but not sure I can recommend it to others because its kind of run down.

Good basic room

Good basic room. Nothing fancy, but good.

Not the fanciest accommodations in Anchorage, but a safe, comfortable and convenient place to stay. High marks for friendly, courteous service. Front desk very proficient and helpful. And both courtesy van drivers were excellent and knowledgeable. Overall a good place to stay and use as hub for an Anchorage visit.

It was priced right for what we needed. Staff was very nice. Hotel is in a sketchy area but it's near the airport so it's to be expected. The bed linen looked new and was clean. Furniture is old and damaged.

The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice to be offered a later check out as we arrived at 3:30 a.m.

It’s obvious that management is investing in this property. Everything was clean, including the turf on the upper deck. Our room has had what looks like a number of recent improvements. Bed was comfy .There was a bit of an odor, but I think part of that came from things like new caulk and paint. For the cost, great little spot.

Room is clean in good condition. Close to a shopping mall is a plus.

Found roaches in room

It was a cheap option. Room was clean but smells like old cigarettes. Beds were fine. Pretty close to a 3 lane highway.

About what you would expect of a 2 star place. But if all you want is a hot shower and a bed with a plastic mattress that crackles if you move it works fine. For the price disappointing

We were picked up from the airport, that's a . But the fabric we sat on in the shuttle had spots on it and smelled like pee. Checking in to the hotel was quick and easy. But in the room, the sheets on the bed were not changed from the previous guests, they were wrinkled and lots of hair on it. The housekeeper must have just covered them. We slept on top of the blankets. The toilet was running on and off all night long. I barely got any sleep. In the morning, there seemed to have been a nice breakfast buffet in a small area, but we skipped it, nor planned for it. It looked good though. Then got a shuttle from the hotel early morning to go about our business. We arrived at the hotel at 11PM, left at 7AM, it was not worth bringing the issues to the receptionist or to the hotel manager. Hope he/she will see my comments and take notes. I do not recommend, not do I not, not recommend this hotel. Maybe other rooms were better kept. But this was my experience.

We got there around 1am, we were welcomed by a friendly staff ( sorry forgot his name), he helped us parking in rain. Breakfast was good. Room is not mordern style but spacious and clean.

The people were awesome out there. Very good with pick ups and drop off. Breakfast was decent as well. Just that the rooms were old and didn’t really feel clean. Hair dryer was broken in our room. Chairs seemed dirty. Only one pillow for a queen bed and they didn’t have a spare one.

Shuttle service was good. You need wait though if it is busy hour. They only have one driver. I waited for 40 minutes after calling the hotel. Not too bad. Breakfast was good.

The only good thing about this motel was the airport shuttle and the shuttle to the train station. The room really needs cleaning and smells of cigarettes, old and current smoke. Very rundown. Luckily we only needed to stay a few hours in transit. Definitely not worth what we were charged. Very disappointing.

Just a stop over

I needed a quick overnight before a cruise. The bed was comfortable enough. The breakfast included was good. The towels were decent. The TV worked well. The room needs updating as the desk lamp was broken, the heat didn't work, the bathroom door didn't close completely, the hair dryer didn't turn on, the wifi didn't reach the room, the furniture was old, there's no elevator.

Room is very dirty. It smelled of mildew and cigarettes. Bedsheets are not changed after previous guests checked out.

The room was what you’d expect for the price, the staff was really really friendly and nice. They have a great breakfast selection too and shuttles to the airport which I didn’t expect. The surrounding area of the inn is sketchy to say the least.

The service was friendly and excellent--they picked us up at the airport even though our flight was delayed and we didn't get in until 1 am. Two mornings later that took us to the train station at 5:45 am! Room was clean and comfortable, except for the chairs which need replacing or re-upholstering. Noise from airport was minimal and it is quiet at night. We ate at the Chinese Restaurant right in the complex and it was the best we have every had. If you go on a weekend though, make a reservation as they were very busy and for good reason!

Ok for a one night stay. Van shuttle smelling like smoke. Room had funny odor. Locks on door didn’t seem secure. Breakfast was good. Bed was ok.
