Here’s a refined version of your review: I recently stayed at this hotel, and while the location is very convenient, the overall experience was disappointing due to its messiness. The hotel is situated in a historic area near the railroad station, making it easy for travelers like me to commute. From here, I could easily visit My Market, the traditional market, and the Pacific Ocean Park.One of the highlights of this location is the free bike rental, which allowed me to explore the nearby trails, including the scenic Cheung trails. This added a lot of value to my trip and made getting around effortless. this hotel is an excellent choice due to its prime location and accessibility.

Really enjoyed our stay at Meci Hotel. Excellent location near the train station. Great breakfast place next door. Rooms very clean. Coffee and snacks available in the spacious lobby. They helped us organize an excellent driver for our day in Taroko gorge. Accommodated us as we travleee with a baby. Very responsive !

Wonderful stay at Meci Hotel

The hotel is a 7-min walk from Hualien train station. Hotel room was a tad small but all the facilities were well-kept and organised. Love the amenities in and around the hotel. There is free flow snacks (biscuits, crackers and sweets) and drinks (coffee, tea, soft drinks and iced tea). Hish speed wifi in the lobby and room. Bicycles for rent free. Washing and drying of clothes at a fee. There is a breakfast shop just beside the hotel (closed on Sundays) and it is amazing! Other food options are very nearby too (Tasty steak next door and neighbourhood eateries near the train station). If you want to get a cab, Uber does not work in Hualien and Yilan, download 呼叫小黄 (find taxi) instead.

It’s convenient from the train station, about 5min walk. There’s a lot of eateries nearby. Hotel has free bicycle to borrow and cycle around the city. Room is very clean and cozy. But there was mosquito that flew in on the 2nd day. So was bitten by it.

Great Budget Option, Friendly Staff, Good Location

Hotel chosen as a part of a brief visit to the city. Excellent option if arriving and leaving by train as across the road from the Train Station. On arrival staff helped with car hire, explained all services including free snacks and soft drinks. The room was fine and adequate for a short stay. The hotel provides good access to the main shopping areas in the city.

Great Location

Loved the location... walking distance to a great night market. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious, however there isn't any drawers for clothes and the bathroom walls had black mold on them.

I booked this hotel, because of good comments on Hotels.com. In the reality hotel not so good, as people commented. I did not sleep for 3 nights, because I heard how is people talking in next rooms. I was not able to take good shower, because water pressure was so low. About cleanliness is also have problems. For 3 nights nobody even vacuum my room.

Bathroom needs some updates

Love the front desk staff and reception area!! The hotel is close to Hualien train station. We had a family room. The bathroom is outdated and with a lot of molds on the ceiling..caulking... The lighting is dark.. 50s looks. No door in the shower area...water splashes everywhere to the toilet area.. I also had to avoid molds on the wall tiles...which makes it super difficult to shower.

Meci was super nice. Beautiful lobby and a sweet area to hang out in the basement. Very convenient location!

Cosy, comfortable but slightly further

A last minute booking at this hotel in Hualien but the overall stay is pleasant. Staffs are very helpful, responsive and friendly. Location wise, its very off the track to the night market and other amenities. Prepare to walk long distance if you choose this place but they provide free bike for hotel guest if you know how to cycle. The overall atmosphere is very cosy and affordable. A good stay

Overall stay in this hotel is good. Though the outlook of the hotel appeared to be a bit old, the hotel interior and the rooms are of good conditions. Room is spacious for solo traveller. The hotel also provide water dispenser which has warm, hot and cold water for travellers. If you find water is not good enough, there are titbits and free flow of tea, coffee and even soft drinks at the hotel lobby too. As for the amenities, food is around the corner and there's a breakfast shop just across the alley which sells decent food. The night markets and shopping area are about 20 to 30 minutes walk depending on your speed. If you are planning to take outbound train to other areas, the train station is around 10 minutes walk from the hotel which is quite convenient. The only con is that you will be able to hear people walking along the corridor, the room is not as sound proof but is still not as bad.

Great spot in Hualien

A wonderful place to stay in Hualien. The room was large and the staff was so helpful with any requests I had (including an ice pack for my broken toe). The location is a couple of blocks from the train/bus station and very convenient for visiting Taroko Gorge. I did not use some of the nice services they offer, including free bicycles. They offer free snacks and coffee. Breakfast is not free but is available. There was a little noise but overall a great stay.

This hotel is just 6 minutes' walk from Hualien Station and my room overlooked a park. Considering its very reasonable price, this is an excellent hotel.

The hotel has a nice, peaceful, family/couple orientated atmosphere. Most of the amenities here are self service, where you have take your own water from the water coolers provided. The family room was good space for a family of 3. Staff was friendly when approached. Just a minor point, the cleaning sign for the rooms should be hung behind the door or at a more obvious area, than at the clothes hanger area, where one can miss easily.

The hotel is located within 8 mins walk from the Hualien Train Station. The hotel is also conveniently located just round the corner from Zhongshan road which leads to the night market. The room is cozy and nice. There are snacks and drinks available in the lobby.

It is located not far away from Hualien station, walk-able distance. The shower facility is good. I booked the accommodation via Expedia and got breakfast vouchers of MOS Burger.

If you go to Hualien (花莲), this is the place you should stay, great location, very friendly staff, comfortable bed and clean room.

Great stay for hikers in Hualien

Stayed here two nights while hiking around Hualien. Great location, the staff were extremely helpful and spoke English well. They assisted me to get taxis because that was the only way to go around (apart from walking or renting a bike). The lobby was stocked with coffee and other drinks and amenities that made it really comfortable to hang around. Room was tidy and well maintained. Good wifi, bathroom looks a but worn out but still not bad.

Friendly hotel with all you need, we enjoyed the stay there and will come next time.

Good base for Taroko

We chose this hotel as it was close to the train/bus station for getting to Taroko Gorge. We were incredibly impressed for the quality we got for the price. The room was nice and clean, we had a mountain view, the staff was very friendly and there was free snacks and drinks in the foyer. The night market and town centre are over a mile to walk, but the walk is interesting.

The place gives a very homely feel with all the woody decoration. the place is clean and also near to the train station and tourist information centre. Easy to get to the Taroko public bus venue to start your one day tour. The staff are friendly and you can borrow a bicycle to cycle around the city. The room is not exactly big, you may have to hop around if you have 2 luggage lying on the floor at the same time. Just that walking to the other place like the art & cultural place or the night market is abit of distance and public buses are not regular.

Cozy hostel stay.

The beds were comfy but not much ventilation in the room. The location was near the station but our guide said that's away from the action (30min drive) in the old city. They have free bicycles here so you can borrow it if you need to explore the city. Also enjoyed the free flow drinks in the lobby and playing with the resident pup.

Good central location. A shame breakfast was not available.

I really like the lounge area, which also provides all the free soda, coffee and snacks 24/7. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. They offered services like helping their clients to book for taxi, car charter service (hiring a driver to take you around), laundry services, etc. Very convenient to train station, local foods, and walkable distance to convenience store. The only downside is that the property is quite old. The carpet looks old, and the faucet is rusted for our washroom. Other than that, I'm pleased with the stay.

High CP value hotel at Hualien Station 花蓮站

Close to train station, clean room with very reasonable price. Lots of restaurants and shopping area around the corner. Great staff and great lobby with free soft drinks and simple snacks, we particular like their dog at the lobby.

The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The location is 10-15 min walk from the train station, across from a park, has a Mountain View. The room is not big but the space is efficiently used. Lobby has amenities, drinks and individually wrapped snacks, hot-cold water and microwave provided. Also has bikes to use with no charge.

Close vacinity to the train stayiom

The location is great since.its about 5 min walking distance from the train station. The lobby is really cute with free local snacks and friendly staff. The room, however, is quite small and the carpet needs to be replaced.

Great staff, clean, nice dog Eddie in reception; you can walk from the train station pretty easily; the aircon works well. All quite nice, and you’re not paying for breathtaking. The staff are the best bit: kind, polite, friendly & helpful.

Close to station and bus routes

Great little hotel opposite a park and at a good price. The room was large enough for two for a day or so. No wardrobe or clothes storage (except for a few hooks on the wall), so not very convenient for stays longer than that. Didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment except to say it didn’t appear to be a hive of activity at breakfast time. Would return to this hotel.

Solid small hotel

Well located hotel within 5-10 minute walk from the Hualien train station. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are dated, but overall everything worked fine. We used the hotel as a base to explore Taroko Gorge. The hotel staff spoke decent English and provided restaurant recommendations and arranged a tour guide the night before. At the time of writing, there were no major chain hotels in this small town so this is a good option if you just need a place to sleep and shower. The bed was really hard but not uncomfortable.

3 Days at Meci Hotel!

- This hotel have the basics: TV, Air Condition, Good WIFI Connection and a small -very small- fridge. - It is within walking distance from the train station but with the scorching sun, it seems that you are walking forever! - This hotel -in Haulien- looks like a hostel. Not my preference - The check in is very un-usual: They do not allow anybody to check in before 15:00 hours. And it become a mess with so many people trying to get their rooms as soon as possible. I did not like this procedure. I was second on line but the third to be attended. Go figure! - I got a single room with 2 twin beds. I did not like that either! I spoke to the manager who offered to change it the next day. I did not take his offer. I stayed at this property because my credit card was already charged at the time of the reservation. - Will I return to this hotel? Probably not.

Love this hotel!

One of the better hotels in Hualien. Hotel was a 7 min walk from Hualien station, and a 30 min straight walk to Dongdamen hotel. Free breakfast provided, and there is even a breakfast shop right beside the hotel that I would highly recommend. Hotel provided free snacks, coffee, ice cream, soft drinks at the lobby, and the lobby is a great place to chill!

Hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, about a 10 minutes walk away. The view from our "Mountain View" room was beautiful. Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. Most of them speak fairly decent English. We tried out one of the eateries recommended by the hotel's "Good Food Guide" and absolutely loved it.

My family and I had a very pleasant stay at Meci hotel. The hotel has a interesting green concept. There are many nice local food places around the hotel too. It will be the hotel to go back to if we are going back to Hualien in future.

Very nice place to stay

A great hotel to stay in. The staff was friendly and prior to checking into the hotel, I had a lot of questions for them and they answered them all very fast and efficiently. They were also very helpful with helping me book a day driver to Taroko Gorge which I was having troubles with doing on my own. In the lobby, they have a lot of free drinks and board games you can play creating a lively place to chill. Close to lots of shops and somewhat close to the nightmarket. Overall a very nice hotel and would definitely recommend people to stay here.

Great hotel in Hualien

Location near train station, easy to schlep our luggage to the hotel. Were greeted by staff and as we were early, got to enjoy from free snacks and drinks in the lobby. Room was large (family room). Wifi good. Staff helped with translation into Mandarin and were able to order breakfast from restaurants next door.

Great, easy location to the station. But 30-min walk down to Night Market and night life if you're up for that. They do offer 4 bikes in the lobby too if you can grab it before others! Hotel staff super friendly and can speak English. Lobby offered drinks and snacks on the house which was great!

Nice hotel close to Hualien Train Station

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days 2 nights and I have to say it was a pleasant stay! The hotel staff was very helpful and professional in clarifying our enquiries. This was my first time staying at this hotel and I will definitely go back again.

People smoking in hotel rooms

Despite all the non emailing signs posted around the room, people still smoked.due to central ventilation it made our room stinky. Not good for families with Children or people who are sensitive to smoke.

Spacious hotel, close to train station

The room itself was spacious, and its location was really close to the train station (approx 5 mins walk away). Only gripe is that the toilet doors were a little short, and taller travelers will tend to bump their head on the top of the door frame. Other than that, wonderful hotel and highly recommended.

Lovely cosy hotel near Station

This is the third time I stayed here - and it never disappoints. Everything makes sense to me - the lobby floor is design beautifully, room is comfortable enough, staff is super friendly. My home in Hualien city really. He mountain view room has a nice park view with distant mountain - I actually find the city view room quieter so allowing me to sleep better

Great stop for a short trip

We stayed 2 nights at the Meci in September. It's a 10 minute walk from Hualien station - not too hard with a few suitcases. Very friendly staff who pointed out all the important things we'd need (laundry, supermarket, 7/11 etc.). They'd clearly thought about what would be important to travellers, so a very nice touch. Nice foyer area with free access to soft drinks, coffee as well as amenities etc. - the drinks in particular were very much welcomed after a hot day outside! The room was small but quiet, and had everything we needed. It was comfortable enough to hang out in for a short period of time, which was great for the purpose of our trip. I'm not sure if the WiFi worked, but we had fast data on our mobiles so no dramas. Breakfast was interesting - the team went to a lot of trouble to make us a nice big breakfast, although in the heat we were only really in need of a few pastries. We'd happily return to the Meci on our next trip to Hualien / Taroko Gorge.

A perfect hotel for short stay!

Overall this hotel is great. The staff are nice and the room is very comfortable and clean. The highlight is its lobby with nice decoration, sitting area, and some local refreshment for people to chill. The location is very convenient, it is about 10 minutes walk to the train station so you can take train or buses to majority of attraction. The only draw back is the room is small, so if you are bring in kids with 2 adults you might experience difficulties. However,its perfect for couples, friends.

We were "upgraded" to mountain-view room after we complaint about smell in the given room. The lobby was a good place to relax with free refreshments n magazines. Free amenities in lobby if you need them.

We arrived in the afternoon and the staff who attended to us was friendly and attentive. She helped us to book a tour to Taroko National Park. The room we stayed in had a good view of the faraway mountains. Bed sheets and towels were fresh and clean.

Nice hotel close to train, food and shopping

This hotel is within 6 to 8 minutes from Hualien train station. The night market is 30 minutes walk from the hotel. There are lots of snacks restaurants along the way. Hotel breakfast is ok, better than average budget hotel. The room is on the small size. The staff is great, you can ask them where to eat and visit. They also provide tour package information to the nearby Taroko National park.

Overall GOOD!

Great staff and amenities such as free bike rentals, snacks, and bottled drinks! The staff is very helpful with planning events and their English is good. Rooms are a bit small, but we didn't spend much time in them anyway. One downside is that toilet paper goes into the trash and is not flushed down the toilet.

Cosy and convenient hotel, excellent staff

Cosy, simple hotel with pleasant and very clean rooms, and a cafe downstairs where you can help yourself to coffee and tidbits. Convenience is high. It's five minutes on foot from the train station and 2km from the city centre. This is key because a lot of the activities and transport in Hualien centers around the train station - crucially, Taroko Gorge, which you'll need to either hop on the bus or rent a car to go to, both of which are largely only available near the train station. The 2km distance from the city center isn't a bad thing because a) Hualien's strength is its nature and there isn't that much going on at the center, b) Meci hotel offers free bike rental, effectively halving that distance. Most importantly, the young people running the hotel are friendly, sincere and very helpful. They helped me rent a car on short notice, gave me critical advice on how to navigate through the Taroko and where the good spots are, and were readily offering insights and recommendations on the city.

Amazing hotel experience! Good services & location

I stayed in 3 different hotels in Taipei. They are all good but Meci is the best out of them. Location is good, close to train station and the main street. There are many restaurants around to eat. Front desk has fantastic services, very polite and on the point to get the information to you (even print out the bus schedule and other information for me). Free coffee, snack, soft drinks at the lobby is a hit. You can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. That's the idea of hotel concept, slow down to enjoy. I really enjoy my stays and will definitely come back again.

Overnight Stay

Staff were friendly Toilet lightning is kind of deem with only 2 LED light, 1 above shower area and 1 above wash basin but istall at the side which is not bright enough. Lucky the writing desk in the room has got a mirror and bright enough for dressing up. A quiet location with a park opposite hotel and nothing interesting around hotel for food. Night market is located at least 20minutes by car.

Awesome hotel!

The stay was awesome! The bed was comfortable, toilet was very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The cost of the breakfast was totally worth it. It was very delicious! Hualien station was within walking distance to the hotel. My room was facing the moutain, it was a delight to wake up to such view every morning.

Pleasant well-located budget hotel

On the plus side: helpful friendly English speaking staff, close to train, nice view of mountains (if you have a mountain view room. Only negative was a very loud low humming noise in my room (708) possibly a laundry above or next door, so ask for a quiet room.
