STAY AWAY - You'll regret it
I have stayed in this hotel hundreds of times over the past ten years. It has degraded into a place that is not fit for hotel visitors. It has become a church, complete with raging preachers, roaring crowds, amplified with huge speakers, you can hear the hateful rhetoric from Uhuru Park to Moi Avenue. No WiFi in the rooms, no WiFi in the lounge or Restaurant. They've moved Hotel guests from the beautiful restaurant overlooking Kenyatta Avenue, to a dark, dank, room with no windows or light, so that a church can occupy the former restaurant location. The churches, yes, churches, Rage many days of the week, making the property inhabitable by normal humans. The management was completely unresponsive to requests for them to tone it down, did nothing to restore the WiFi service in the rooms. The Sentrim Hotels should be ashamed of what they have allowed to happen here. They should honestly represent the property in their advertising, Hotels.com should accurately represent the experience to be had here. They should warn visitors they will be staying in the middle of born again, who knows what, revival. STAY AWAY!
Good for business in downtown
The hotel Is very basic but good enough if you need to stay in the area, especially if you want to avoid traffic un other parts of the city. The internet wasn't so good AND breakfast would ve better with real coffee
The checkin was perfect. The entire hotel staff were very welcoming. The breakfast was ok too. I’ll always love to be back.
Friendly helpful service in city centre
We’ve stayed at 680 before, it is our choice when visiting Nairobi. Central location, friendly helpful service, especially Charles the porter. Even the guards are friendly. Although the room is only a double, a single bed is dragged in for our son. No troubles. Nice view along Kenyatta Ave. Breakfast is good. Cafe downstairs is good, great coffee. The only concern was the annoying loud religious babbling that goes on all Sunday downstairs.
the room was clean, small TV, the stuff was helpful, the food was OK
Food in the hotel restaurant is very low quality. Avoid anything on their Menu which is international cuisine. They have no idea how to cook simple western style food. Nice local restaurants nearby the hotel. The hotel staff very friendly and helpful. However get used to reporting to the security desk on your floor every time you leave and enter your room.
Downtown Nairobi is very noisy at night
Sentrim 680 is close to many places to get good food. There's a night club across the street that has good bands playing African music till 1-2am most nights of the week. At about 4am the buses and matatoos start getting active and they seem to do a lot of horn honking in the early morning. It's not a great place to stay if you need to get a good nights sleep. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I like it.
I had a pleasant experience at the hotel. I was happy. The rooms, staff, everything was nice.
Excellent hotel in the middle of the CBD.
Good location, friendly and efficient staff. Excellent value for money
The worst hotel
This is the worst hotel to sleep in. The hotel doesn't have double windows, there was no hot water in shower and loud music/noises coming from outside.
Best value in Nairobi CBD.
I've stay here many time, so knew what to expect. Expectations met.
Friendly and helpful, another good stay at 680
We stayed here a few times this trip, friendly professional service, provided us with an extra bed for 5 year old son. Breakfast and coffee excellent as per usual.
Pleasant stay at sentrim680
Friendly staff, especially baggage, excellent breakfast, free wifi which works, very central location.
680 experience
Short stay but relax.
Disappointing
Refrigerator and climatic machine did not work at all; Breakfast : low quality; coffee was not available for some minutes and the hot milk can was about 3 kg hard to handle it. There was also grilled jam but to strong grilled; And to top it - i wanted to invite my girlfriend for breakfast and had to pay 1400 ks!! In germany I get for the half price double quality; What I want to say this is not in the responsibility of the staff - just hotel management having best win span; Staff was always very friendly! But a little bit too friendly on security check! Pls do check completely black *and* whites; The breakfast issues where solved by going to java for breakfast - also the internal coffee on entrance has better quality.
Fantastic staff
A great hotel, the staff make this place. Nothing is too much trouble - always stay here when in Harare.
stay in 680
Okay
Business Trip
Very Nice
Very good hotel
The walk in price of 180 USD is overpriced but when booked in advance through this website we paid £125 for 2 nights which represents good value. Service is great, security is tight, rooms are clean and comfortable. Loved location as we spend a lot of time in downtown Nairobi, although some noise should be expected at night, despite sound-proofing. Overall, probably my favourite hotel in Nairobi. Service when ordering food at bar is slow and somewhat overpriced. But breakfast on a morning is brilliant. Really enjoyed staying here. Thanks
servic level poor
it was a nightmare I waited to be signed in for 4 hours because my booking could only be sanctioned by their supervisor, on checking out they refused to give me any document don't think the staff are qualified to take care of customer ,they were very un cooperative. Poor communication skills. The hotel is clean ,food is good and other staff good but front desk poor.
Efficient All Around
Whilst my visit was short, everything I expected from the hotel was delivered. Convenient location, effiicient service, clean room, excellent levels of security. I would recommend this hotel for business people and for people transitting through Nairobi if they need a city location.
Quite a few glitches, quite a bit of noise
Not great. I'm not picky and can tolerate a glitch, but this whole hotel was a glitch. Elevator, fan, TV all on the fritz, card key didn't work at first, had to do the long hoof down many flights to stand in a long line and have it reset. Things like that. Also loud city & nightclub below, permeates throughout. Got me by - good wifi, hot shower, fine breakfast, not all bad. Just not great.
Heart of Business District
convenient, well staffed and secure, wifi, parking, excellent breakfast, great place to stay at a reasonable price.
central business district
it met my needs and expectations. Great staff. Breakfast was awesome.
Need lots of improvements - except location
I cant imagine this - there is no facility to make even local calls from room and from reception too !
Good Value
The staff are very friendly. Security seems to be good, with a guard at our floor level all the time. Breakfast also great. They need to do something about mosquitoes though.
Should have A/C
Good location, nice breakfast. Room has some dinky fan with a dehumidifier - one needs A/C if you are paying $65+.
Short stay
The best feature of this hotel is its locality - in Nairobi's city center. I's fairly clean but needs updating. No amenities and noisy. I had to ask for TV remote. I'd stay there again if necessary.
Good hotel in central location
Good, mpdest hotel in central location for overnight or stay of short duration. Good breakfast with great selection included.
good spot, excellent breakfasts
Excellent breakfasts included in the price, good coffee too, best to book online, especially if your a mzungu (white skinned person)... the 8pm curfew on visitors is a bit weird though, especially for relatives
Bargain!
This was the cheapest place on the site by such a margin I thought it must really deserve its 2 star rating. But judging by a single night it has everything you'd expect in a good international hotel. A spacious, comfortable room, lots of security, helpful staff; breakfast not exactly a gourmet experience but lots to choose from.
Very convenient location for Women too
Very good "value for money" hotel, superb location. Feel safe and secure to roam in and around hotel for food/ shopping/ change Forex within proximity.
Nice hotel nice staff
Good location
Good for transit from late international flight
I find the 680 a very good 3-star hotel -- a good choice for late-night arrivals: easy check-in, comfortable, hot shower, privacy, fine television hosting news and movie channels. The hotel has been around many years and is known by locals, taxi drivers and airlines--so you'll always be able to find your way. I arrived late at night from an international flight by taxi, which the airport called for me. My luggage was lost but delivered later to and safely stored by the 680. Guards and people are around, used to late arrivals. The receptionist and service was very helpful. (When booking I requested a room on quiet side of the hotel on a top floor, because of loud disco nearby. Also noted late-night check-in). Room comes with nice large-choice buffet breakfast. There is a restaurant and unimposing casino at the 680. No room service, but you can find snacks, water, drinks late at night. There is a safe in the room and guard on each floor. I was very careful about my computer, phone, money--did not leave anything out--kept all in locked suitcase or room's safe or carried money, phone, necklace in moneybelt. If very valuable, I'd have put things in front desk's safe deposit box. Was happy there several days while delayed by lost luggage. Good location downtown. Railway museum is half-mile walk and interesting. I'd only complain about the low-power portable air conditioner/fan not keeping the room too cool.
You get what you pay for.
The 680 is conveniently located in central Nairobi. However, there is a very loud casino on the ground floor and a loud band in the bar on the first floor. The room was stuffy, but when the window was open it was too noisy to sleep. The staff are very helpful, but I was asked for tips twice for services that generally would not justify a tip. The lobby and bar are frequented by a number of prostitutes, and I was solicited twice when just walking from the lobby to my room. I would not recommend this hotel. It is more affordable than most downtown hotels, but I know of places for half the cost that are more comfortable, cleaner, quieter and hassle free.
ok. nothing special
i am a man of few words. i had a pleasant stay. reassured by security, including attendants on each floor although i was not enthused about them noting my comings and goings from m hotel room. room was clean. loved the breakfast...hotel location was spot on
Could have been better
Bath towels are not kept. After several calls over a period of one hour and a complaint to to the manager, the towels have arrived. I was told that the washing machine was broken down. Internet connectivity was very slow and intermittent (I was in 10th floor). Some channels on TV are very grainy. As a traveller I did not have a local sim card. There was no facility to make even local calls, even from the reception area. I had to borrow the personal mobile from an attendant. The complementary tea / coffee bags and coffee percolator are missing. Breakfast is good. Staff are courteous / polite and volunteering to help. The hotel is located right in the middle of the business district.
Nice location, right at the city centre.
This is the first hotel in my world-wide travels that has no room service. Restaurant closes at 10pm, so late arrivals have no way of having dinner. It was really disappointing because my first night was kind of frustrating.
Convenient location, but all!
I've booked this hotel because it was walking distance from Kenya International Convention Centre and because its price was worth, being a lot cheaper than other close-by hotels like Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza, which were extremely expensive for what they offer back. The location is definitely a plus for Sentrim 680, it is few blocks from KICC, where I attended an event, but it is definitely the only good point of this hotel. Given the reviews in both Expedia and TripAdvisor, I came in not expecting much anyway. Apart of the existing reviews, I would like to mention that the TVs don't have the remote control, maybe they don't leave one in the room to avoid it to be robbed, but the fact is that if you want to change the channel, adjust the volume or turn it off, you will need to stand up and do pressing the buttons. Other disappointing fact is that when having dinner I was not informed that credit card payments are only accepted for bills over 3000 Shillings, so if your bill is less you will be asked to pay in cash. Tip: be prepared to have enough money if you decide to eat there. The food is not bad, so this is a good point (at least one!)
Value and convenience
The kindness and friendliness of the staff at the 680 Hotel will ensure I return to the hotel on my next visit to Nairobi. The room is average but security was good and the location in city centre allows for short walks and easy pick-ups for tours. I stay at the 680 last year too. Orbiz got me a good price too.
Excellent value for the money
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed given the reviews I'd read. I was in Kenya the week of the elections and this hotel felt like home. The location was central to the business I was attending to. The staff was wonderful and provided excellent guest service, the food was absolutely fabulous -I had breakfast and loved all the fruits, meats and even the vegetarian dishes they provided at breakfast and I didn't need to eat outside (both African and Western fare was available at breakfast), I have never experienced this at any hotel. The room was clean, linens were superb, bed comfortable -my main criteria for judging a hotel - and they even provided free bottled water. They even have a sister hotel that has a pool and garden - an oasis in the city for those interested in getting rejuvenated in a quieter zone about a mile, mile and a half from the hotel. I was born in Nairobi and now this hotel will be my new home at home away from my residential home in the States. The head of guest relations, Annette, is a wonderful lady who makes sure that the guests are enjoying their stay and will go out of her way to ensure your comfort. I give this hotel a rating of 4 stars.
Couldn't pay for evening meal at hotel with credit card. Very primitive and noisy air-con unit in room. But the location was good.
not much okay
Good Hotel Downtown
Very pleasant, staff was polite and mannerly, Good Location, will certainly recommend this hotel
They did not send a driver to pick me up at the airport, as had been pre-arranged; the desk staff was uninterested but managed to process my arrival when I did get there; all other staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The night was not restful thanks to very noisy neighbours slamming doors and talking loudly through much of the night. Breakfast was elaborate and served in a pleasant room. I would pay for a quieter place in future.
Good hotel for central Nairobi, i recommend.
Good hotel in central Nairobi, everything is so close, very secure area. Food not so good, internet sometimes worthless.
The reception were unfriendly, the security at the floor suspected that I had a minor and asked for the identity (I suppose because of prostitution in the vicinity). There was no tv remote control gadget in the room, only at request, no room service
A base from which to explore.
This is an "Adults" hotel, not for children. For those wishing for extras such as tea making facilities ,hairdryer etc then the hotel is not for you. On the other hand if you want friendliness, cleanliness, excellent staff and service then you are in the right place. As a base for exploring Nairobi and outlying ares then this hotel is ideal. It is certainly value for money.
locatin is all
Have been staying here for years..rates fluctuate, but it is a convenient, good, basic and safe hotel
Good deal
Very good location and good price!
Good for a short stop
Very good location in city center. Rooms are OK, shower and toilet were functional. Security was OK, you are checked a few times on your to your room. No aircon, just a fan. There is a very popular bar on the oppositite side of the street and most evenings they even have a live band making a lot of noise. Breakfast was more of a continental type. Staff did they job, but were not overly excited... A smile was not in their service portfolio yet. Good restaurants (e.g. Trattoria) in the neighborhood.
680 hotel
simple clean dull - perfect for business. has a lifeless casino and bar
Very well located hotel....
The stay was very good, the hotel staff was excellent and very help full. the hotel was kept very neat and tidy.
Six Eighty Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya
Great location in the heart of downtown Nairobi. Showing age, but clean and good service. Free breakfast is not great, but enough to get you going for the day. There is a restaurant across the street from the entrance. It has good local food, but a very loud band at night. Be sure to get an "inside" room on one of the higher levels (it has 10 floors). The portable air conditioners are inadequate. Price is reasonable through Hotels.com. I would stay there again when visiting Nairobi
Stay in Downtown Nairobi
An older hotel in a central location. Nightclub noise goes on till 1am or so, but fatigue from 17 hours in the air took care of that! Everyone very friendly. The usual security at the entrance and on every floor. Room was clean. Enough English spoken by employees to get by. No fire evac plan posted on doors, so check that out before you crash for the night. Had some kind of air circulation unit in room but all it did was move air, not cool it. TV and safe in room. Breakfast not bad (came w/my room rate) but other meals at restaurant in hotel very expensive.
Great position in central Nairobi.
Sleepy welcome on arrival at 2am(not complaining as I guess I would do the same if it was me behind the desk). Security guard on the floor 24/7 kept note of my comings and goings . Excellent buffet breakfast(included),however food at dinner poor quality,in spite of friendly service by wait staff. Room clean and comfortable, and quiet. No city tour available at tour desk,so I hired a taxi to get myself familiar with the city. Money changed at attached Casino, with better rates than bank(No TC's) Had no security issues at all.
Reasonably priced downtown Nairobi
After returning a car to Central Car Hire on the ground floor of the hotel we checked in here for an overnight stay. Very practical and centrally situated. Quick and friendly check-in and check-out. A clean room of good standard. Good wifi. The hotel was much better than we expected after having read other surveys, probably because we got a room on "the quiet side" (there is a noicy night club opposite the reception).
680 Nairobi
central location makes it very easy to go shopping, eating out and enjoy of nightlife. beeing next to Kenyatta Avenue, which is one of the main roads of Nairobi, there is easy access out from the city. Hotell was clean and staff was very friendly. Only minus was that agreed price (on the phone) for picking up from airport doupled when I arrive to hotell.
Six eighty hotel nairobi
Stay ok but a bit expensive
680 Hotel
It was very overpriced by Canadian standards. Hotel front desk staff were friendly, but also shy and unhelpful, only answering the questions asked. We felt sorry for the staff who seemed underpaid and overworked (long hours). The worst part was finding windows open on our arrival and we got bitten by LOTS of mosquitoes. The breakfast buffet was great and staff were very nice.
Business Trip
it is very noise at night, loud music from the casino.
We have no booking for you on 28/12/2011
Upon my return from a tour to another country, after staying for several days in 680 hotel in Nairabi, I showed my passport to identify myself as a client who was there before and has booked for the 28th, I was shocked to be told that I have no booking at all.Because I was tired after 12 hrs of flight, checking in two ports, etc. I requested the staff to let my baggage in, ckeck her records, allow me to have shower and if no booking as she claims I will pay cash. This staff, seem to be temporary staff to cover x-mass holiday, refused and asked me to get the voucher. I told her that I can show her in my internet. She again said you can't print from here, go out side the next street and bring a print. Imagine 6.00 PM in Nairobi, to go out side with your hand bag on your shoulder !!!!!. I was really frustrated but anyhow went and brought the required print. Now the question is how could this rude, untrained staff left to work at this period of time. How couldn't she find my name??? Whose mistake was that my name was not shown in the record. Anyhow, the next day I spoke to customers representative( Mrs Annette) and explained the whole story. I showed to her that I am not intending to take deciplinary action but to train her on how to deal with customers.
680 hotel Nairobi
I have been staying at this hotel for many years but never again. The hotel reception is the worst I have come across. There's no welcome hello, no can I help you, no smiles, cant even bother to stand up to greet clients The porters and security staff are great. I would NOT recommend this hotel to any one
Over priced for what you get
I found Sixty Eight Hotel over priced for what you got. You had to pay a deposit to get a TV remote, but there was no sign in the room or better still at reception to tell you that. The phone in the room didn't work. However the room was clean and the hotel was very central but I wouldn't stay there again.
my stay at sixeighty
low price.. in and out.. cab fare was $20 USD each ewas from the airport.. so if you can find a place closer to the airport for 40 dollars a night more, it is a wash.
Fist stayed in 1976 and it's still good value
Very conviently located and if you kmake sure you get room toward back of hotel facing Kenyatta Ave to escape late night music say roomms *00 - *10. Casino will exchange of $, £, € cash for shillings at competative rate at all times of the day. Very nice coffee-tea shop in back street round the corner in Kaunda Street, turn right out of hotel and street second left - cafe called Cup I think. Good cakes and food.
Hotel 680 Nairobi
Otherwise OK, but noise of opposite beegarden is horrible and daytime internet is erratic.
It's Africa...What Can You Do?
The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, but as with most things there, everything just looks a little worn, a little rough around the edges, not quite new. It's no holiday inn express, but it's secure and clean enough for your average budget-concerned traveler.
Good chose
We stayed in Sentrim 680 few days in August 2011. When I looked for hotel in Nairobi I checked Sentrim 680 reviews and I found many negative, but we decided to take a risk. Sentrim 680 has a great location and good price. And it was realy good chose. Rooms are not to big, but clean and cosy, staff is very friendly and helpful. They have nice restaurant and wireless internet access. There are safe boxes in the rooms and friendly security on each floor, that you can feel comfortable and safe. Because center of Nairobi location this place is a little noisy.
Have stayed here many times
Have stayed at this hote many times and always returned. security is very high and location to city is good. recommend.
Over priced
Stayed one night in August 2011. Very basic hotel room which is located in the heart of city. However very over priced as we paid 80 Euro per night. they do not even give you a remote control for the tv and ask for deposit which was annoying. there's a casino in lower levels and therefore always crowded.
work release
It's like being in a prison, where they let you leave your cell to go on work release during the day, but everytime you step foot on the property you being policed from front door to your room with police questioning you and your company, photocopying you and your companies documents, having to check-in and out, submit your door key everytime you leave there is a search, again it's like being on work release and living in a prison! No I would not reccommend this place to anyone!

Madhouse 680 Hotel Nairobi
My stay was ok, the location of the Hotel is excellent,However it is missing some basic facilities such as a restaurant, rooms have no bottled water and no Electric kettles to make tea or coffee. I found 2 roaches in the room. No split unit air conditioner or centralised ones. The staff were excellent and very helpful especially one Mr Enock who has an excellent customer care and very handy whenever you need any assistance. The Hotel needs major facelift
