Very clean and pretty rooms with everything needed but we were on the road side which was very noisy. Hot so wanted windows open at night as no air conditioning but this meant very early wake ups.
Very good & has character
Visiting our son
The hotel is a little away from tourists area but close to river walk. They only have the reception open from 11:00-8:00 so we never saw them after check in. The downstairs restaurant is nice with friendly staff. For dinner options everything is about a15 minute walk, a couple of coffee shops are near bye that are nice.
Smell like you’re inside the kitchen!
I paid extra for the bigger room but still got the small one. No reception staff after 8 pm. I arrived 8:30 and was given the room key by the restaurant staff down, who were very nice btw. The entrance is basically same as the restaurant entrance and the smell is as strong as you are inside the kitchen!! The smell goes up to the corridors. Also the idea of closing either toilet door or shower door is terrible. Not a good idea to stay here.
If I rated only on food, Maria's Platzl would get 10 stars. Its breakfast foods, from full-fat yogurt to its breads to its spreads and cheeses, are simply wonderful. The the restaurant itself is so homey and tasteful. A perfect stay would be staying in the breakfast area itself. I enjoyed the unique designed room too, but have to admit that I was flummoxed by its light switches. I could never control the lighting!
2 night stay
The room is quite noise and face to main road. I didn’t see any staff at all during my stay. Their tea is nice . Metro station takes 15 mins walk but bus stop in front
Very reasonable room rate with cozy atmosphere & stylish design. Breakfast was served decently with variety of choices. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Besides, I enjoyed the quiet place with morning walk by the riverside. Will come back for sure for my coming stay in Munich.
Not good for business travel
I was travelling on business; this isn't a business hotel. I arrived after the reception desk had closed, meaning there was a delayed check-in. I had to wait 20 minutes, then was presented with someone who didn't know how to let me into my room. There wasn't an iron; there was no concierge. If you needed anything after 8pm or before 8am, you were stuck. Travelling on business means you're out before the reception team start and arrive back after they finish. I wasn't able to get an iron for the full week. The room didn't have aricon, but was ok. The location was pretty good.
Christmas in Munich
The hotel is outside of the downtown Munich, with not much around as far as services, however it is close to the river and you can walk over the bridge into town in about 20 minutes. We stayed here because it is very close to our son's apartment. They do not have full time reception however when we did see people at desk they were very nice. The restaurant was closed for Monday/Tuesday but when open the bartender was very friendly. If the main area of Munich is your need they have a sister hotel, you could look at as well. We stayed here once and it is a very nice in great location.
Requested a quiet room because I’m a light sleeper (and was told they would see to it) but ended up with the loudest possible room I could get- facing a busy street
We travel a lot (and all over the world). One of the very best hotels we've stayed in. PROS: excellent location; VERY walkable to old-town but quieter at night/away from the crowds; close to public transit if you need it; nearby rivers offer beautiful running/walking routes; the accommodations are clean, updated, Bavarian chic and very comfortable; staff was exceptional; dining options nearby are wonderful (in a foody part of the city) - the restaurant/Biergarten attached to the hotel was the best meal and beer we had in Germany (and we had a number of great meals and beer). CONS: many of the rooms (including the one we stayed in) face a moderately busy street, which could be noisy for some if they need the windows open during warmer months (we live in downtown Chicago, so are used to the noise). FYIs/Reality Check for Visitors: they don't have air conditioning; much of the EU doesn't. If you're travelling to the EU for the first time and think you'll require a room with A/C, be sure to research your hotel carefully beforehand (would recommend calling and confirming as well). They did have a very capable fan in our room but we didn't need it given the time of year we were visiting. LOVED our stay here. Can't imagine us staying anywhere else if we ever visit Munich again.
Great staff
Great location and hotel! Needs fan in summer
Location and staff were great. Rooms were very nice. Paid parking was a solid plus (in small garage doors right behind hotel- a bit hard to find but just park outside with hazards and ask). Restaurant/Biergarten is incredible. Just great food and drink. Walks nearby are great but suggest getting bike rentals around town- much easier than driving (we got the auto for nearby trips to Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, and Hohenschwangau). In summer the room was blazing hot and the window didn't open enough. Only issue with comfort. Hotel needs to include small fans to help (another hotel we stayed at did this and helped a lot)
The room was beautifully decorated and very clean and pleasant. The location is good for walking into the city centre or a nice walk down the river. Stations but U and S bahne are again in short walking distance. There were only two downsides to the hotel. Firstly there is no Aircon and no fan in the rooms. It made the hotel uncomfortably hot. Secondly my room over looked the restaurant/bar court yard. This was very loud at night, though they do quiet things down by 12 midnight, but then breakfast layout starts early in the morning and did wake me up. Unfortunately for these reasons I probably won't be staying again.
Family owned hotel with excellent staff. The room was so cute and the restaurant looked lovely.
Beautiful Boutique Hotel - Highly Recommended!
We only stayed for one night, but the room was quiet, very clean, and perfect for our visit. The staff was very friendly and fulfilled our request for a late check in due to a late arrival by train. A delicious mini buffet breakfast was included in our reservation as well. We recommend Marias Platzl and would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Munich.
Cute hotel a little far out from metro
We enjoyed our stay at Marias Platzl for the most part. The hotel itself is very cute, and while the rooms are small (not smaller than any other European hotels - we’re just American lol), they are very nice. We did the included breakfast, and it was a great breakfast, very glad we did that so we didn’t have to search nearby for anything! The only thing to keep in mind is that this hotel is NOT close to a metro station. You are about a 10-15 minute walk to any of them... we were exploring a lot so this became a little frustrating at times. *There are busses nearby if you want to take them
Great hotel close to the centre
Cosy, well decorated and equipped rooms. Great location just the other side of the river from the city centre. Dog friendly and a short walk down to the river to walk the dog. Underground parking.
Nice stay
very nice hotel with typical decoration
True Munich
A beautiful and creative property in the Au in Munich. Very central and easy to get around but away from the hectic old town area. The Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. The Ayingers Restaurant is superb.
Helpful staff, lovely rooms spotlessly clean good breakfast
Property was clean and comfortable. Quite neighborhood. We like walking so didn't mind the trek to the old town. Room was cozy but small. Felt cramped with 2 of us.
Would definitely return
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Marias Platzl. The room was very clean and perfect for what we needed. Only slight down side was that the room was not as big as we'd expected and there is no proper door for the toilet/shower which does encroach on privacy somewhat. We would however definitely return to the hotel despite this. Location was a 10 minute walk to where everything was going on and the bar itself was lovely, along with the staff who worked here.
It is very cosy. Small but cosy. The extra touches of beer and chocolate were nice. However the room has no air conditioning ... which means when I am cold I cannot keep warm other then shutting the window... and not having a mini fridge in the room is a bit of a hassle esp when I am travelling with a little one.
The Marias Platzl was fantastic. I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Room was great, hotel location was perfect and the customer service was second to none.
This was a nice little hotel with a cute little biergarten and restaurant. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The only drawbacks were the lack of air conditioning and there is not much to do around the hotel. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to all of the action.
Hot spot (not in a good way)
Very friendly service and very clean and neat. Tiny double room - one sliding door that covered either the toilet or the shower. No room for closets - just a hook rack. We were there in the middle of a heatwave and the hotel has no AC and windows facing a busy street. The front desk helped us out with a fan, but it was still difficult to sleep. Would stay again, but probably not in the summer :)
The cedar walls in the rooms are fragrant and beautiful. The beer garden is very relaxing and all of the staff are really friendly.
Very pleasant stay
Small rooms but cute. The only negative is that there is no air conditioning but fortunately the hotel can give you a fan. I wish the hotel restaurant would offer a la carte breakfast because 17 euros per person is a lot, especially for a family, if you just want something simple like coffee, yogurt and fruit. We got coffee and pastries down the street so it worked out fine but not as convenient as in the hotel.
Excellent location within easy walk of the city centre. Only negative was lack of air-con in the room.
Fantastic base to explore Munich and area.
First trip to Munich and we hit a home-run with this fantastic property. Quiet neighborhood in center of Au district. 15-20 minute walk to Center of old town. Great Paulener Wirsthaus right around corner, but restaurant on site is fantastic and has charming Biergarten. Everything seemed newly remodeled and tidy. Would strongly recommend.
Gorgeous boutique style hotel. Modern/traditional style with some quirky style qualities Which we liked very much. Staff were lovely, very helpful, great English but let us try out our German also .20 mins walk from Marienplatz (city centre)
Very nice cozy and homely hotel. Not far from the center. The service staff is friendly and helpful. Were very pleased. Thank you for your hospitality.
Very good on site restaurant and the staff were very kind and all spoke great English. Thank you so much!
its totally difference room from the picture shown. no space at the bedroom area. cubical shape of room. very upset.
Amazing place!
A cosy stay in a nicely designed hotel.
We had a lovely stay at Maria’s Platz Hotel. The rooms have a real home feeling to them, very comfortable, cosy and relaxing. It was a little more compact than we had expected but still enjoyable. The only issue with the room was that the shower leaked into the bedroom when used. When we asked staff about it we were advised to use towels - not really the best solution, so that was a little disappointing. Otherwise, staff were polite. Hotel itself is within walking distance of the city and nearby restaurants and cafes ensure you have all you need.
Good Location & well maintained hotel. The staff is very helpful
Lovely hotel, very clean with modern features. The staff were exceptional.
Their rooms are small but very well-designed very unique in Europeans . Very nice restaurant in the lobby . I would return to this property again .
Nice hotel. Close to city centre. Good eating spots close by. Hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful.
Lovely new hotel with easy walking and transport options.
Rooms too hot
First the positives - the hotel is very new, in fact parts of it are still being built. Rooms are clean and have been decorated well. There are nice touches like free bottled water. Negatives - rooms facing the road become too hot when the sun is shining. We were in rooms 101, 102, and 103 and they were uncomfortably warm in the evening. One can't even keep the windows open at night because the hotel is next to a busy road. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms either. I think the hotel will have to sort out a way of keeping these rooms cool otherwise these are going to be like ovens in the peak of summer.
very comfortable
Charmantes Privathotel für einen kurzen Aufenthalt
Nett eingerichtetes kleines Hotel.

Loved staying away from the hustle and bustle! But we were at least a 12 minute walk from the train station with our luggage. There were closer trams and buses. It was near a park and not far from the English Garten. Our room was on the top floor that had a very sloped roof over the bed. A little tricky to get in and out. No English TV channels, which was fine but may be an issue for others. A restaurant right on property had a good selection of Munich fare but closed 2 nights during our stay. We had no heat or hot water the first 6 hours of our stay but the staff was super friendly and accommodating and compensated us. All in all a decent stay and good value for 3 nights.
