Clean room and bed.. nice breakfast!! fee wife.. little bit hard to find the house..
A very nice bed and breakfast in a quiet residential neighborhood convenient to the Departure Bay ferry terminal.
Great setting and location, excellent suite and the breakfast was fabulous.
Very quiet and great breakfast owners very friendly
Nice place. Nice family. I would happily stay there again.
Fairly average B & B. Super close to Departure Bay. Helen is really nice & prepared a great breakfast. Would have preferred an early time but she was not flexible.; it was offered only for 8:30 am. Great choices for entrees including lots of yummy fresh fruit. Coffeemaker & fresh grounds in our room was appreciated. Luckily I always travel with 1/2 & 1/2! Our accommodations were pretty dark & damp but the floor heaters helped a lot.
There is lots of room at this B&B so you can make yourself feel at home.
Quiet B&B
Quiet natural setting close to walks with friendly owners
Good Quality, Comfortable and Very Friendly
I stayed in this B&B for one night over the Labour Day weekend, while visiting a son and daughter-in-law in Nanaimo. My reason for selecting it was its proximity to my family but I quickly realized I had found a hidden gem. The B&B is run by two very friendly and helpful sisters; the accommodation is excellent and spacious (with private entry); the bed comfortable; the food tasty and the location is quiet but close to Nanaimo amenities. I highly recommend staying here!
Lovely place. Well taken care of accommodation and personal needs by owner. The building is Set back off treed road with stone gateway. Still, Hard to see the place driving by. Missed it in the daytime. Made sure to return in the evening before dark or I would not have been able to find the entrance.
Well Run, Tasteful Room, Tasty Breakfast
Maple View, situated in a suburban type neighborhood, has no particularly impressive features. However, it is an excellent place to stop. The units, which are entered separately from the main house, are small but very nicely finished. The design reminds one of Westin rooms. They are absolutely spotlessly clean. You order breakfast in advance from a menu selection. I had the full English, and it was just that. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, toast, juice and, if you want it, also cereal and fruit. The preparation was better than most restaurants. I spent most of my working career in senior management in the resort industry and currently travel very heavily for pleasure. We usually stay in boutique hotels at a more expensive price. I can recommend Maple View without reservation. It is basically a very professionally run tiny hotel.
comfortable but noisy.
The hostess was friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable however, it was extremely noisy. The room assigned to us (room L) was under the main level of the house and we could hear the owners talking, the children dropping things on the floor and the dogs barking. The noise kept on going past 10 pm. We were awoken at 2 am by someone who dropped something upstairs and again at 445 am by a child crying. Not ideal before our long drive back to the ferry in Victoria. The area is nice and quiet and if it was not for the noise, we would have considered going back.
Short stay, comfortable room and great owners!
This home is located on a gorgeous property and close to Oceanside parks in Nanaimo. We only stayed one night but it was great for our needs. A few things to note for others: you do dine in the main kitchen for breakfast and most likely will share the table with others. There are two large dogs on the premises but we love large dogs!! Just to note for others if you are afraid of doggies. They keep them under control but they do like to protect their property:) Our room was great, bed was comfy and Helen was awesome! She is so accommodating and wants to ensure everything goes as planned for you. You will not regret this choice!
Excellent B and B, and location (for ferry )
Nice stay, great breakfast and hospitality. It is also most convenient for catching the Departure Bay ferry over to Horseshoe Bay in Vancouver (which was what we did). We would certainly stay there again.
Good little find
We stayed here only 1 night the host was very friendly and when she knew we wouldnt be there for breakfast as we had an early ferry to catch she bought down breakfast supplies so we coukd have something before we left i found the pkace vlean quiet and comfortable and its very close only a few minutes to drparture bay which was handy
Helen, the host is wonderful. Not to overbearing, but is there when you need anything. Room is a bit smaller than I expected, but it was perfect for what I needed it to be. Quiet neighborhood and quite household. Ample parking. Breakfast was delicious! Room was exceptionally clean and bathroom had a heated towel rack and body wash in the shower! This was just as clean, if not cleaner than a hotel!
Great stay in a perfect location!
Helen and Kathryn took great care of us while we were there. Helen stepped above to contact me after we forgot a necklace in the room! Don't let their dogs un-nerve you :) They are kept secure but their bark would be uncomfortable for anyone who is afraid of dogs.
quiet location, nice grounds
Friendly hostess, interesting garden, comfortable room.
Quaint in Nanaimo
Quaint house in Nanaimo. The breakfast was of superior quality. The heat was off in the room when we arrived and it took a long time to warm the room up.
I would like to see the area in daylight.
This was in a wing of a regular home. I had to exit this extension to enter the home to go upstairs for breakfast. The owners were pleasant and provided breakfast how I requested. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, the room had TV but no telephone. Owner got me a taxi, a $15 short ride to the hospital.
Very nice and clean, host was friendly. Recommend!
The room we stayed in was nice and clean with its own private entrance right by where we parked our car. In the morning, the host Helen made a delicious breakfast for us. Highly recommend this place.
Great food, very comfortable room
very enjoyable stay. Excellent food and extremely pleasant staff.
Great B&B Close to Ferry Terminal
Beautiful home in a lovely setting, offering a number of delicious choices for breakfast. The room itself was clean and well stocked with all the amenities you will need.
Private entrance &close to ferries.
Pleasant hosts . Verry nice neighburhood close to ferries.
Definitely Recommend!
We enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Maple View Bed & Breakfast and would stay here again. It is a house that has been converted into a B&B with private entrances, all the amenities one would expect from a B&B, and nice people running the place. The breakfast was also superb.
Kind hostess and excellent breakfast
The hostess was welcoming and kind, showing concern for my comfort and any needs. The breakfast was served promptly and consisted of a variety of good foods, cooked to perfection. The room was cool and comfortable, with windows that opened for fresh air. The location was quiet and the grounds were green and spacious.
Great place, close to everything. Would definitely go back.
Yuk !! Dirty
This B&B was the worst we have ever stayed in. Clearly the previous reviews have been done by there friends and family as i cannot believe it could of been anything other than that. First we had to get to the front door past 2 barking dogs. One chained up and lunging at us. Then the girl finally came to the door in filthy sweat pants, not being able to speak much English just showed us the room and disappeared. The room was gross and dirty, the bed cover had possibly never seen a washing machine!! The towels were vile and smelt unclean. Breakfast was served in the main house, not in a separate area but right in there private kitchen/dining area which was really filthy and no way would of passed any health regulations. The plates of disgusting food were served on dirty and greasy dishes. When came back to the room after a day out they had not bothered to clean the room. The towels which were dirty to start with were not replaced though we left them where it was suggested. The bed was not made. They had not been in there. We left very early the following day as the gross factor was too much and 2 sleepless night were enough !! The one lady Helen seemed sweet enough though this place should honestly NOT be used as a b&b. I am a travel agent and have been to many different accommodations and this was in the top most vile. Do not waste your money here.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE
THE ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN AND THE BED WAS COMFORTABLE AND THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN. THE OWNERS WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL THE BREAKFASTS WERE AS ASKED. PARKING WAS GOOD AND DIDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT VEHICLE DAMAGE.
Fantastic B & B
We were very pleased with our stay at the Maple View B & B. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was great as well. The breakfast was so large we couldn't eat it all! Lovely and quiet, great location, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for the great service!
Clean and comfortable
We had a very comfortable, quiet stay here. The location is a little out of the way from Nanaimo, but if you've got a car this should be no problem.
Highly recommended!
Good location very calm but near from shopping area, good service and hospitality with good staffs, very good meal. There's nothing to complain against this B&B. Highly recommended! We'll come back this hotel every time we visit Nanaimo.
Nice place full of mature trees
The room was little cold do to extreme cold weather for this area but after warming the place it was very cosy the area is away from heavy traffic so is quite the home made breakfast was excellent , with beacon, eggs multigrain toast and fresh fruit
Perfect location
This B&B is in a perfect location from the main stream but close enough to the city center and perfect location to travel to all major towns - north, west and south.
Great Nanaimo B&B
The location was convenient for visiting relations that lived near by. The location was quiet and easy to find with ample parking. As it was used mainly for sleeping it provided all that was required. Great breakfast and the cooked part made freshly as you waited or had your cereal, fruit, coffee etal. Only criticism would be the TV channels - while we hardly watched any the choice was very limited.
We had a wonderful stay at this B & B. The room was sparkling clean and the staff were welcoming, accommodating and lovely to talk with. Breakfast was delicious! Most comfortable bed I've slept in for years.
The best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at
Maple view was the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at. The young woman who owns it was so incredibly hospitable and made us feel right at home. She made a fresh breakfast the next morning for us off of a menu the night before. I would definitely reccomend this place to friends and family in the future.
Quite and clean
I wish Tv would be in the room, not in living room. Also I was expecting good homemade breakfast but it's like basic breakfast in hotels, coffee, artificial juice, box cereal, fruit, and waffles from the supermarket.
We would definitely go back for a longer stay here!
Very peaceful, lovely setting
Great room, comfortable and clean with everything I needed. Ground floor access and close parking. Deer grazing on the lawn outside the window. Very nice stay!!!
Nice comfortable place
Very nice, clean and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was outstanding and generous. The room is small but nicely appointed and very quiet. Helen was very friendly and helpful. We will re turn
Mixed thoughts
Beautiful landscapes. Noisy air conditioner. Good breakfast but served at family's kitchen table. Hostess friendly and helpful.
One night in Nanaimo
Comfortable and restful overnight after a long drive from Kamloops.Room was clean and well appointed.Good breakfast choices. Host friendly and accommodating. Overall pleasant stay.
Lovely place, lovely surroundings, lovely hostess
Loved our room. There for our 50th wedding anniversary. Our hostesses and family were absolutely wonderful and made our stay very memorable.
Great stay in Nanaimo
What a wonderful stay we had at the Maple View B & B !
Great B&B in Nanaimo
I typically stay away from B&B's because I like to have more privacy but we were only staying one night in Nanaimo, the price was right, so I figured, "Why not?" This is a great place. Helen is a conscientious owner who makes excellent breakfast. Our suite was larger than expected with a sitting room, kitchenette (1 burner element and microwave), two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a fireplace. The suite had a separate entrance. Children live upstairs and can be heard downstairs but this did not bother me. It wasn't like they were up late at night. They were just making normal kid noises. Highly recommended.
Great Place to Stay!
The B & B is in it's own grounds/gardens in a lovely setting. The accommodation is good, clean and well equiped. The owners are really helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are first class offering a good choice of cooked breakfasts, with fruit and cereals. It is located in a nice neighbourhood and well placed not only for easy access to Nanaimo and the ferry to the mainland (10 mins) but also for trips out to all parts of Vancouver Island - North & South. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Vancouver Island.
Amazing B&B!
The stay was an amazing experience of delight. The staff was friendly and welcoming and willing to meet our needs. They offered a delicious morning meal and pleasing conversation and fun. They were helpful with sharing directions, places to eat, and sites to see. The grounds of the B&B were well kept and the room was sparkling clean and most comfortable. It was very enjoyable and would highly recommend to anyone. The stay was an amazing one and we would return to stay again as it fits into our travels.
very nice b & b in nanaimo
very nice b & b; helen, the host couldn't have been more nice or helpful. breakfast great; nice quiet area; room a little smaller that it appears in photos
Jewel in Nanaimo!
We stayed one night at Mapleview B&B in Nanaimo B.C. and we were very pleased with our accommodations. The decor in our room was super clean and very restful.Breakfast was outstanding--much more than we could eat!!! The owners were charming and so gracious to us. If we had stayed longer a little bench outside would have allowed us to sit out and enjoy the beautiful landscaping. Rod/Carroll J.
Good location. Nice hosts
We stayed there for 2 nights in March. The B&B is situated on a large and very attractive block in suburbia, out of the city itself. This is no big deal if you have a car. Maybe a problem if relying on public transport. Not knowing our way around, we had a GPS which made everything very easy. Also easy access to regional Vancouver Island. Helen, the host was very polite and keen to help. Great service. We stayed in the downstairs room which had several bedrooms and a kitchenette, although we only used one. But, heat rises, and thus the central heating had little effect downstairs. We were very cold. That might not be a problem at other times of year, but it was a significant impression for us. All in all, not perfect, but a good place to stay. If not in the coldest part of the year, I would happily stay there again.
excellent B &B in a beautiful setting
Lovely place to stay, close to lots of beautiful walks.Helen made us feel extremely welcome and made the best pancakes ever!
Thanks!!
Comfortable place and quiet!! Thanks!! Great location and easy access to the highway as well as the ferry.
Great place!
Very relaxing and quiet. Close to amenities in Nanaimo. Clean place.
Stayed one night
Great place. Comfy bed. Clean. Nice owner. Great breakfast!!!
Lovely and peaceful
Great experience for my first B&B. Host Peter was very knowledgeable and served great pancakes. Very clean, lovely-looking room. House surrounded by trees, 4 miles north of Nanaimo, easy to find and to get around.
Incredibly helpful owners
This is a nice little B&B. The owner was incredibly helpful and the breakfast he cooked for us was unforgettable.
great host
We were in the Lancaster Room,it has a fireplace.Coffee maker and kettle in the room.I sat outside early in the morning sun drinking my tea and to my surprise two dear strolled across the back yard.Kate the resident Labrador dog is very friendly .Breakfast made by our host Peter was excellent. We will return next year.
Lovely room and great hospitality! We were happy we chose to stay here.
A perfect place to get a quiet sleep
Peter was a gracious host. Friendly and helpful. Lovely, quiet spot and close to where I was working the next day. I would definitely stay there again.
Relaxing stay.
Highly recommend.
Quiet B&B
Having never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, I was unsure of what to expect. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised!! Maple view bed and breakfast surpassed all of my expectations! A very lovely family runs this business, and Peter in particular takes great pride in his work. He was extremely friendly and is a great cook! The rooms were cozy and very comfortable. Maple view is a true home away from home!!! We will be back!
Very Homey
My wife and I stayed 2 nights, and very much enjoyed our room. The breakfast was better than we expected and the host was very pleasant and friendly to deal with. Even when we remembered our morning breakfast time wrong, he took it in stride and we had a wonderful time conversing with the other guests while our meal was made. Will definately stay here again, when we need a little getaway.
Pro Nice place. Great for longer stays. Peter was an awesome host. Breakfast was fantastic. Con The only complaints would be that the bed was hard and could use a matress topper. Also the tv will only alow a limited amount of cable boxes connected at any given time.
would stay again
Good place, funny owner, doing his best to increase the total quantity of humour in Canada. Note to owner - it's very easy to miss the driveway, especially at night - an illumination of some sort of sign would help a lot.
Excellent Service
Peter was very friendly, helpful and served us an excellent breakfast.
A nice and comfortable stop on our way to Tofino
Warm welcome, large and comfortable room, host eager to answer our questions and provide directions to the Japanese restaurant where we wanted to have dinner, good breakfast. The only negative note is the fact that our room was quite cold and we couldn't find a thermostat to turn up the heat. Fortunately, we were able to borrow a bed spread from the other bed in the suite and had a very restful night.
owner talks too much
This would have been great, but the owner talks too much. He just won't stop talking. It was uncomfortable. We just wanted to go to bed, but he wouldn't stop talking. During breakfast preparation he talked and talked, even though we had appointments, we waited half an hour while he talked. He burnt the bacon to black while he talked. Then, while we ate, he talked. He never let us in peace for even a moment. He never stopped talking, and made the whole experience uncomfortable.
Great stay!
Modern and comfortable room- innkeeper went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable.
Nanaimo Bed and Breakfast
Easy to find in North Nanaimo off the Island Highway, on a quiet road and set back from the road. A friendly welcome and helpful information. A landscaped garden with good parking in an attractive home. Private entrance with en suite bathroom in a newly decorated room which was very comfortable. A choice of breakfast which was freshly prepared and tasty. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast and will stay again.
Good to be Home
The way you are treated at Maple View Bed-and-Breakfast goes beyond good hospitality. The owner, Peter, does not treat you like a customer, not even a relative; he treats you like a friend and a long lost friend at that. The rooms remind you of home, that is if you live up-scale. One room even has a fireplace. They even have a washier and dryer you can use (a must for us business travelers away from home more than two days). I look forward to coming back and spending more time with my new friends. Oh, did I mention how clean and spotless the rooms were? Not only the rooms but the grounds were well manicured and demonstrated the owners concerned for their guests/friends.
The most luxurious B&B ever!!
We stayed for only one night and everything was perfect. Extremely luxurious bedroom and bathroom, really well decorated and organized. TV with loads of channels and recorded programs, fast wi-fi and an excellent breakfast. Peter is an excellent host, we couldn't recommend him highly enough!!
Great quality and very enjoyable
Great accommodation and the host is helpful, skilled and fun. The breakfasts in particular are very good.
The Magnolia lives up to its reputation.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay here at the Magnolia. The room was very comfortable and spacious with wonderful Avedo soaps and shampoo. The front desk staff were more than helpful in every way and the daily continental breakfast was delicious, with plenty of good food, especially the freah scones and muffins.
