Experience was Amazing
The inside was very neat. However i am still unsure if this was a family hotel or love hotel. There were lots of kids but the lobby had a kinky toy box you could buy and the TV had XXX pages you could press when just trying to access the free movies. The A/C would not work half the time even after trying to bring someone to take a look it was either 19 c or 26 c. Room was smaller than expected but I liked how the tv could come out and the bathroom was a decent size the pool was neat but im still confused about the reserved times when everyone showed up at the same time anyways. My main downside was while it was very convienent to have underground parking there was netting to keep the pigeons out but all it did was lock them in so our car got covered in poop and there were multiple dead pigeons hanging from the netting. Hotel was clean besides parking garage, staff was friendly, dinner was great. Conveniently located close to Metro.
Breakfast tasted really fresh, room was spacious - spa was packed and unusable even with timeslot system. Steam room and pool were only amenities besides tons of chairs, TV had chromecast, airplay did not work, not much to watch internally, wifi was pretty inconsistent. Staff were very nice and helpful with good recommendations for local places. Property was a bit lacking for price, laundry service was unnecessarily expensive.
Loved this spot. Great breakfast. Cool vibe. Hip staff. Reminded me of NYC. The front desk even let us get in a little early, which I needed. Highly recommend.
Amazing
Close to the vatican, metro station about a block away, rooms very clean and large not your typical european size room, breakfast buffet was really not too great but ok
Good location and employees
The property was beautiful and unique. The restaurant in the hotel was delicious and easily accessed.
This hotel is good. It's clean, spacious rooms, but the dining is not good and it is far from the main attractions.
Very nice hotel and friendly staff
Best Sleep at Mama Shelter
The main reason to recommend Mama Shelter is their beds. Extremely comfortable! Nice vibe overall. Good plentiful breakfast and very good drinks/food choices for dinner. Staff very helpful and genuinely doing a great job. They have a rooftop bar section that gives one more reason to stay inside the hotel. Highly recommended.
An excellent hotel! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. A real boost of confidence having never been to Rome and not speaking Italian. The neighbourhood felt entirely safe with grocery stores and a Metro stop very close by. While not in the heart of tourist Rome we actually preferred it, it wasn't insanely crowded like the Vatican or other popular tourist areas. We walked most everywhere anyway. The room wasn't huge, and there wasn't any storage furniture, no dresser or anything, but there was a large bathroom. A safe, mini fridge, large windows that opened, to a degree. A lovely rooftop patio with a great nighttime view, a small pool and sauna. The steam room was closed for the duration of our nine night stay. We only had one meal at the hotel, wasn't great. Some of the best food I've ever had was in Rome, but this to my mind was sub par. The staff took forever to serve us, even water, felt like the younger serving staff didn't care at all. Maybe it was just bad luck, I suspect this wasn't the norm, but we didn't go again. Seemed a little tailored to a tourist crowd that didn't know any better. But in fairness we only tried it once. But in the end that didn't matter much, there are no shortage of amazing dining experiences to be had (it is Rome after all) and was more than made up for by the quality of the room and the amazing service of the desk staff. We would happily stay there again. Thank you Mama!
Didn t like that reservations for dinner were needed. Especially when open tables were available and not used at all the whole evening.
Super trendy spot with a lively bar/restaurant. On the weekdays it is more quiet but on the weekend it turns into a fun spot. Staff was very warm and welcoming. They were attentive to our needs and the bar/restaurant staff was amazing and sociable, often cracking jokes with us and always answering our questions. On our last night for they all gathered to send us off with a shot and a big cheers/salute!
Good
Good
Great cafes nearby, right next to Cipro station, walking distance to Vatican and beyond. Rooms are small (medium mama) but practical and functional. Pool is a large bath, more than 6 people and it feels akward, steam room wasn’t working.
Great central location Lovely chiq vibe
It was ok.
The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Our room was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Spa was lovely. Walking distance to Vatican. 2 minute walk to metro.
The staff was very helpful, nice and friendly. The food was nice. The pool and sauna are great, we had a few inconveniences with getting towels and the lockers but other than that everything was awesome.
Perfect place to stay when visiting Rome, especially if you plan on going to the Vatican which is only a 20ish minute walk away. There was also a metro station right next to the property which made it so easy to get downtown. Super friendly staff and great place. We had a late flight out the day of checkout and they even held our bags for us while we went out and explored, free of charge!
Hotel was very clean nice staff members and very quirky nice bar area Very easy to walk to the Vatican City and catch the metro would definitely recommend
We really enjoyed our stay at Mama Shelter Roma. It was very easy to walk a few blocks to the train station and make our way out to many other points of interest. Also Mama Shelter has the best pizza hands down!!! And an awesome staff!!!
Wonderful clean property a little out of the way from Rome central but it was nice, quiet and very artsy. Very clean & comfortable plus the staff are all very courteous!
New Year’s party was grear
Great hotel convenient for metro & sightseeing
The room was really comfortable and quiet with a balcony area. Spacious bathroom - staff made up the room daily. Restaurant on site. 2 mins walk from a 24 hr supermarket and 5 mins from Cipro metro. Two things to be aware of - there are no coffee making facilities in the room and TV can only be hooked up via airplay/screen casting. Lots of free movies available though. Would definitely stay again.
It was a quiet hotel but absolutely chaotic. The check in process was ridiculous. No hotel overview. No information on WiFi or spa/pool use or breakfast or anything. It was a good thing I read reviews beforehand to know you had to ask in order to get answers. In addition, our check in was awful. All the staff was wearing training badges. Weird. They gave us a room on the first floor after specifically stating our desire for an upper floor away from elevators. When we asked to be moved they then gave us a smaller room than what we paid for and it turns out it was a multiple connecting room for a family. We ended up having to go back to the original room since we were staying on property for 4 days. The street noise was loud so even though it doesn’t matter, I would still request a higher floor. In addition, we witnessed several irate customers yelling at front desk staff over rooms. The theme was they paid for a certain room class and were given the wrong room. Happened to us so seems on theme. Overall, room was fine. Bed was fine. Restaurant in hotel was good. Breakfast was lovely. Location was easy to get to metro. Not a lot around hotel but easy to get around the city. If you have kids, this would be a great place since they have an arcade. For the price and the annoying factor, I would say it was worth the stay. If your patience is lower, there are other options.
Great place
I love the diversity of the employees. The unique design of the property, comfort and the location is in a quieter neighborhood
Excelente lugar para hospedarse, sin embargo en mi caso el colchón ya requería cambio , estaba hundido
Hotel was nice, rooms are fairly basic and showers weren’t the best but comfy beds and the staff are excellent. Would recommend if you can find reasonable pricing.
Great place!
Everything was amazing
Mama shelter was a very nice stay, in a quiet portion northwest of city center (about 3-4km away). The surrounding area was nice and had decent amount of local shops and cafes. Mamas is situated not even a block away from a 24hr grocery and only a block away from Cipro metro station. Made everything and traversing Roma easily accessible. The only downfall I experienced with my stay is the lobby and restaurants on the ground level play loud music until a about midnight or a little after-we were located on the first floor so we could hear everything. Nice stay otherwise!
I liked that it was walkable to most areas and the swimming pool
The stuff was amazing and friendly . The hotel very clean and the food was excellent, especially the pizza . I will definitely be back in the future . Highly recommended
Friendly and helpful staff in a hotel with a flourish. No problems with the buffet breakfast (a wide selection of pastries, continental and cooked including gluten free options) and if we asked they’d help or provide anything needed. Really handy to get to the Vatican being only a 10min walk away and close to the metro for easy access into the city centre or Trastervere. Meals in the restaurant & pizzeria are a little on the pricier side when compared with restaurants in the city is one thing to consider. Only shame was that the steam room was closed and there’s not a huge amount of space in the spa area when at capacity which was made worse without the use of the steam room. But still a nice way to unwind after a good walk through the beautiful city.
Everything was good apart from the deposit you pay i still haven't got mine back after 2 weeks and they haven't responded to any of my email's
Great stay. it's some distance from the city centre but the metro is a short walk away and easily navigable.
I stayed for 2 nights and was excited to enjoy the wellness area. I messaged ahead before booking to check that the steam room was working (after reading other reviews) and was assured it was. It wasn’t working and the hygiene in the wellness area is not up to standard. Only one toilet cubicle for women and only one towel offered meaning nobody was using towels in the sauna!! Except me. The area is also not staffed so there is no one to offer any assistance or service. My room was never serviced during a 2 night stay which is very disappointing at this price point. Next time I will stay in a boutique hotel in Trastevere or the historic centre. Reception staff were lovely though and are the redeeming quality of this hotel.
The smell in the bathroom was terrible, I couldn't sleep, the sheets in the bed were very itchy. I was very unconformable and after all my walking i was looking for a better place to rest.
Definitely using this property again! See you soon Rome🇮🇹
The metro is very close down or up the hill where some local stores are! The staff was amazing and allowed my family to check in early with no issues after a day in half travel from the US! They also upgraded my room just because! Beds were extremely comfortable and my 4year old loved the tv channels in Italian, English and the arcade games in the restaurant! Great hotel chain and I will be looking for this hotel chain anywhere else we travel! The owners and CEOs must take good care of their employees because they are very nice! I recommend this stay again!
Very nice place and nice people
The rooms are small and we found ants in our bathroom.
Excellent customer service
The staff were all very welcoming and polite. Always friendly and helpful sharing areas to visit in the area. The restaurant there was great. Also they have a beautiful rooftop bar with a beautiful view. I would definitely stay there again.
Nice hotel, excellent staff. A bit far from some of the bigger attractions.
It was great overall
Spacious and nice room
Really wonderful stay 4 nights.
Fun and Funky Hotel with a Great Location
This hotel was very clean and I loved the funky atmosphere. My one complaint would be the service in the restaurant, especially the coffee machine and espresso bar. It was never clear if you should approach the barista, and when you did he was very curt and always seemed mad. Supposedly, you were to sit at a table and wait for the waitress to order coffee for you, but it took forever to do that. The espresso machine was always breaking down, and had horrible tasting milk. The esresso bar had better coffee and milk, but took forever. The breakfast choices were AMAZING, but often the hot fod, like eggs, bacon, sausage, etc... was cold. This hotel is located right near a Metro stop, and not too far from the Vatican, making it a great location.
All around great place
Good good
This was a cute hotel! Had a home-like feeling and the staff was always helpful and so kind. The food from the restaurant was amazing- breakfast and dinner! When, not if, we come back to Rome, I would stay here again!
Amenities are nice. Room is okay.
Great hotel, quirky and fun
“Amazing Stay at Mama Shelter – Thanks to Leonardo’s Exceptional Service!” I recently stayed at Mama Shelter in Italy and had an incredible experience, thanks in large part to the exceptional customer service provided by Leonardo, one of the receptionists. From the moment I arrived, he went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Leonardo was attentive, warm, and genuinely interested in making sure everything was perfect. He welcomed me with a smile and took the time to offer recommendations tailored to my interests, whether it was local restaurants, hidden sightseeing spots, or tips on navigating the city. Every interaction felt personalized, and it was clear he cared about making my stay special. The rest of the hotel staff was also friendly and helpful, but Leonardo truly stood out. Mama Shelter is already a great place to stay, with its stylish rooms, unique decor, and relaxed atmosphere, but Leonardo’s outstanding service took it to another level. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Italy – and make sure to ask for Leonardo at the fron
The property was clean, and restaurant had good food.
Great hotel with lots of dining options! The rooms were small but very clean and modern.
I really like the proximity to the Vatican and surrounding restaurants
Excellent service
A unique concept of de loyalty that really works. The staff were excellent and very accommodating. We really appreciated Margot who treated visitors in the restaurant in 4 languages. Antonio is a knowledgeable manager. Near the Metro and the Vatican Museum.
Beautiful property steps away metro.
It was okay, staff was not consistent. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night 3 times. Very uncomfortable, little to no sleep because of that.
I like the theme of the property
Room was great, building was great dining was not amazing very limited menu staff was great to deal with minus the random fire alarms going off in the middle of the night before our 9hr flight back
Physically a nice property. Staff are too relaxed and act with no sense of urgency however sometimes. Weird that you can only use the pool/gym area once a day and only for an hour. Leaves you feeling weird and annoyed. The AC also barely works in the rooms, so the system is junk and rarely fell below 21-20C (capped at 19). Shower head is massive and nice, but has a weak water pressure and also isn’t fully flush with the wall, which is rather ghetto. Breakfast has a massive spread, but the limited hot items can be lukewarm or cold. Would I stay again? Probably not, which is too bad, because it’s just little things that accumulate and reduce the goodness of this property.
Good location Great staff
Unique
Excellent, I recommend
I stayed with my own Mama and we have been raving about the facilities. From the staff at the front desk to maintenance crews everyone is amazing. All 3 restaurants had amazing food and ambience. Location is as key for us and we minute walk to metro station made our stay even easier to get around. Highly recommend this home away from home.
Favorite part about the hotel was the style, eclectic atmosphere and the vibrant colors. Very fun and enjoyable to peak around and relax. Rooftop was amazing with great views and relaxing lounges; the pool was tiled with amazing colors as well as a hot sauna and room temperature pool. Beds were very comfortable and the staff was great to work with. They called a taxi for us from their hotel to the airport the next morning. Very easy and close to the train stations as well!
The facility was lovely, and staff were amazing.
Great staff, wonderful environment, and excellent restaurant options make this an absolute must, if you’re visiting Rome. Walking distance from Vatican City and a metro station (it is a little far from the touristy part of Rome, make this a great hotel for those looking to avoid tourist traps

We had a great 12th anniversary weekend in Rome and staying the Mama Shelter Roma hotel, room was massive and spotlessly clean. Staff were lovely and friendly, hotel food was fab with delicious cocktails to top it off!
The stay here was pleasant. The room was clean. Staff was great. Food at their restaurant was good. The breakfast included was lovely. We had a balcony in our room and it was cool. The room was a bit small but the amenities made up for it. The restroom was nice and loved the light up mirror. I wish they had a USA plugin their outlets for our tools with adequate voltage but they didn’t. Other than that the adapters worked just fine. Overall 5/5 experience. Would stay here again.
Cute hotel, wonderful staff, corky and fun hotel. Walking to the tourist areas is not ideal but order a cab early and it is just fine.
The pool was great, as long as you remember to book a slot in advance. And the breakfast buffet bacon was way too salty. Otherwise a relaxing stay, a lively rooftop bar, and a short convenient walk to the Vatican Museums
Our stay was amazing! Clean rooms and bathroom. Pool area is amazing. Close to metro. The only thing is that stuff at the roof top bar is slow.
This is an amazing hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing that let it down was the surrounding area and it was slightly further out. Would definitely stay again!
Very nice stay. Staff was attentive.
Staff very friendly and nice
The staff was super friendly and made sure they were able to accommodate guests. The were busy at the front desk when we checked-in and when we checked-out. They made accommodations to ensure that our room was thoroughly cleaned because of my respiratory conditions. During our five day stay I did not have a flare up being in the room at all. I really appreciated that, thank you Mama Shelter Roma! Be advised that if you want to have dinner on the rooftop of the hotel, you have to make reservations or you won’t be able to enjoy the atmosphere. I wish this would’ve been told to us at our check-in. But this is why the reviews are available, so you have an idea of what to anticipate. Otherwise this was a great stay during our five day visit to Rome. Definitely recommend Mama Shelter Roma! Grazie mille Mama Shelter Roma!!
Overall everything was great!
This hotel was amazing and great
This property was excellent and staff was really nice and helpful. Only thing complimentary drink is alittle confusing. Overall it was great
The property was lovely And for the most part staff was friendly and likable, but we chose it for the amenities which included the spa and pool. During our four day stay, we were only able to secure one single one hour slot for swimming at the pool. And there were so many children there In the tiny space that it was thoroughly unenjoyable.
The amenities in which I chose to book the hotel. Were greatly exaggerated Was there pull a spa and gym? Yes, were we allowed to use it? No, because apparently you have to specifically book time slot pre arranged and then be escort by staff to even be allowed to not only use it, but even get to it, I couldn't even tell you what the pool looked like.
Hotel facilities are excellent . Room is spacious.
We loved staying here!
Excellent hospitality!
It was a great stay overall! I love how everyone at the hotel was so incredibly friendly and helpful! Only downside was the metro was not working near by so we had to Uber everywhere since the hotel is bit far from things but other than that I would definitely come back when in Rome
Good location & cute hotel. Very nice breakfast & beautiful dinner at rooftop restaurant. Owners know what they doing!
Extremely Happy with this hotel, not sure how old is the Hotel but pretty much everything look brand New. we do have some issues with the toilet but that's pretty much everywhere in Italy & I not even get upset since the Customer service and room were amazing. I highly recommend this Hotel if you are coming to Rome close to everything.
Very unique hotel, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is great, Staff is amazing
Great hotel, perfectly located
Nice room with modern updates. Cute, eccentric property. Excellent concierge staffs.

The hotel is located near the vatican , near metro station and it is very easy to travel accross the city. the breakfast is great, one of the best i ate in europe. the onle small problem, they don't give water bottle in the room/
