I couldn't resist staying here for my 2 night stay - I mean, it's a boat hotel! The room was small but I knew it would be. There was room to move around though. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great. I was surprised that there is an elevator. It was nice to come back at the end of a long day and grab a drink in the restaurant.
Very nice. Quirky. Excellent location. Service varied by who was on… bar/restaurant has a lovely 1920s feel restoration & character. Cabins need a bit of love (snag jobs/touch up). Fun overall.
Great location and brekfast!
In general it was an amazing location, walking distance to the city center, view and great breakfast. Interior very cozy. In term of comfort, the locks and the app are not sync so it takes more than a few attempts to open the door.
Nice location and near to the main attraction within the city.
I loved staying on the yacht for the first three nights. The breakfast was excellent, though the scrambled eggs weren’t the best. My cabin was quiet until the fourth night when a man was in the room next to mine and he snored very loudly. Unfortunate as the bed was against the same wall as mine so it was very hard to get any sleep. The yacht is a lovely place to stay and the sunset views incredible. The best view on Gamla Stan.
Everthing very good Only problem was the app key acess on your mobile which took a long time to open doors or not at all Staff very good and gave me a card for opening doors
Second time within a year. Great for the price and excellent location.
The clue is in the name, the Malardrottningen Yacht Hotel is on a 73m yacht permanently moored at a dock near the old town with amazing views over the water. My cabin was small but serviceable and comfortable, but the bathroom was a little cramped. The food in the restaurant was excellent and I would definitely stay again.
Amazing location on a charming yacht
This was an amazing stay at a unique location that oozed character and charm. The location could not be beat, the staff was super helpful and the price was great. Highly recommended to anyone staying in Stockholm.
Excellent stay. Will recommend. Clean, good location, good service and breakfast. Thank you Lady Hutton ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic!
We really enjoyed our time on the boat. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast was amazing. 10/10 would recommend / stay again.
Amazing boat and great views!
Lovely place to stay
This was my sixth stay at Mälardrottningen, so obviously I’m a fan. It’s been a few years since my last stay and there have been some changes, the reception area has been relocated and the restaurant has been updated. It’s all very nice looking but requires that you drag your luggage up a metal ramp to check in. And as before, the stairs are short and somewhat steep so hang on to the hand rail. The staff is lovely and the included breakfast buffet is very nice. Rooms were nice and warm despite the wind and cold outside. Less than a five minute walk to the t-bana and only 99sek for an uber to or from central station.
Excellant place to stay. Very near Central Stockholm and Gran Stanla. Really great breakfast.
Great experience and location
A yaught hotel located very close to Gamla Stan. Fabulous interior and awesome views on the lake. Friendly staff. Yummy breakfast.
Very good. It's the age of the vessel that gives it It's USP but also means it's a bit tired. See other reviews.
My cabin was very comfortable and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was perfect.
nice view
Lovely place. Very convenient to get to in the old town. Wonderful breakfast. Great pressure in the shower. Permanent ventilation caused my throat to hurt. Small cabin rooms.
It was a unique experience. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast got us ready for the day, and the dinner menu was very tasty. Things to note about the design: the shower/bathroom was cramped in our suite, stairs are steep and narrow. This would not be best for someone with mobility issues. They are doing renovations so some areas still show wear while others have been spruced up. However, these are not deterrents, the location, view and experience were great. I will definitely stay here again.
The shower water temperature is not stable
Such good fun. It retains the feel of the yacht but has some serious bonuses. Breakfast buffet was always extensive and well chosen. There is an easy exit & entrance once you’ve checked in. And right by this are gratis still & sparkling water. All the crew (staff) were excellent, smiling and helpful.
Quaint, cozy and friendly hotel. Felt like a boutique hotel on the water. All of the staff were lovely.
C’était vraiment unique de pouvoir séjourner sur un bateau au cœur du vieux Stockholm! Je recommande vivement.
The location can’t be beat! Beautiful views, right on the water, a short walk to Old Town and the Gamla Stan metro. The yacht itself is in dire need of an upgrade. While conceptually cool (who doesn’t want to say they slept in a yacht in Stockholm?), the rooms and facilities are so old. If you’re 35 and value sleep, do NOT stay here. The walls are so thin, I could hear snoring, toilets flushing, coughing, doors slamming, etc. The halls are so narrow, that if a guest is checking in/out super early/late, you can hear every step they take through the halls, the loud bangs of the suitcases and doors shutting, and every word said. I brought it up to the receptionist the next morning, and all she said was “all the rooms are like that.” The walkways ramp up to the reception area/front entrance was also pretty scary - it’s over water and slightly steep if you’re dragging up all your luggage. I was terrified something would fall out of my bag straight into the Baltic. The cleanliness was also less than average. Super STICKY carpet and stains on my walls (I took pictures). The room was so hot, it smelled musty, and there was no way to adjust the temp.
Cool place
Great location and very nice employees. Tiny rooms but you’re on a boat! Breakfast was very good. Perfect for a night or two.
Unique property. Room was small but clean and quiet. wonderful lounge and tasty breakfast. fantastic lłcation and amazing sunset views. Great friendly staff.
It was fun to stay in the yacht hotel for a few nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top-notch! The setting was great to look across the water. There was some remodeling going on while we were there so at times we had to walk over extension cords. Overall we had an enjoyable time. You do need to be able to maneuver the stairs to stay here.
Okay- tiny room but glorious location and you are not in Stockholm to sit in your room! Super sweet hello and delicious food.
If you are getting a room to spend your time in your room, this is not for you. If you are getting a room and spending time out walking and seeing the sites, this place is the best. It is two minutes from the historic sites, boasts an incredible view of the lake, contains a wonderful restaurant, and has clean, presentable rooms for the time you need to be in them. I would highly recommend it.
Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely breakfast
Room was as described. In summer, the rooms get a little humid. Didn't notice the ladder under the bed until check out. Would of made it easier for my 14 year old to climb into the top bed. Breakfast was excellent and had plenty of tasty and well prepared food. The scrambled eggs appeared to be made from scratch.
An interesting hotel experience on a boat. Very convenient location (under 10 min ride from central train station), easy walk to old town and great views on the water. Quiet and very friendly staff. Bunk bed cabin a tad cramped and main complaint was lack of AC do room was quite stuffy. Thankfully they provide table fan so that made it bearable. Good breakfast buffet and great voffee
It’s a ship, so we expected small rooms and bathrooms, but it’s something to be aware of if you are booking these rooms. As it was just me in my room, it worked just fine, especially as it was easier to keep the bathroom door open so my knee didn’t hit the door while sitting on the toilet. The bed was also older, so not the lost supportive.
Mälardrottningen Hotel, Stockholm
The ship is amazing and has so much history. It is ideally located near the main parts of town, but sufficiently far from them not to be disturbed at night. The single room I booked faced the water and was compact, but had everything I needed. The breakfast was delicious with everything from cooked bacon and eggs to a typical continental breakfast, cereal or fruit. It was hot and sunny during my stay and the porthole didn’t open so the only way of cooling the room was to use the desk fan provided. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when I next visit this beautiful city.

The hotel was quiet & very clean in a good location. The staff were excellent & charming & efficient. The breakfasts were super - what’s not to like ? Bunk beds - a bit difficult for older guests.
Unique. We had small room with portholes. It was fun. But ship has seen better days. Yes, did get a nice breakfast.
I like it a lot
We loved our stay! The staff was great, promptly answering our questions via email before trip. And check-in and check-out was a breeze. The location was perfect for walking around Gamla Stan.
Great location lovely staff and good different
Had a noise problem from building work but after discussion a reduction in rate was offered and gratefully accepted. Breakfast was excellent, deck bar fabulous and the location brilliant. I will use again for sure.
Good central location
Great location, basic room
Checked in early. Cold water in lobby
Perfect location for Old Town and wandering
Great location, lovely comfy beds, perfectly formed en-suite and breakfast was plentiful with great coffee. Only slight niggles were the shower was tempramental - great pressure but temperature was inconsistent and the Bar wasn't open. We could see there was renovation work going on so assume we were just unlucky with our timing on that front .
Unique experience staying in a cabin on an old ship. Great location.
If you like to camp then this property is for you. There is no elevator, a/c, bath mats, no coffee in waiting area—they only serve breakfast—no frills. Just a portable heater and you have to cart your own luggage. When I asked for some assistance I was told they do not do that at the hotel. It was clean and breakfast was good. However for the price I would expect a bit more.
Great for a few days.
Great location with lovely views across the lake. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Would stay again if room 400 was available.
The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is a unique experience, being an old yacht that has been converted into a hotel. The rooms are small, but not so small as to be unwieldy - my ten year old daughter and I managed well with all of our luggage, etc. The bathrooms are extremely small, but private and very clean. I would stay here again!
Want to stay on a boat without getting wet?
Lovely, quite different, place to stay for 3 nights in Stockholm. Really well located for access into the Old Town and public transport. Very good customer service throughout. Restaurant was closed at time of visit for renovation work so breakfast was a relatively simple affair but a good selection and hit the spot. Facilities are not fabulous nor a huge room - but you're on a old boat! Providing you're expecting it you won't have a problem
Great location next to Gamla Stan and with an excellent breakfast
Good location in walking distance.
Great time. Hotel was great.
We booked this hotel, for my birthday, and as always like a bar and a restaurant. Which this hotel advertises! There is no bar and the restaurant only opens on a weekend. We left on the Saturday. I am absolutely shocked that they can get away with advertising a bar and restaurant, when there is clearly none.
The room was nice and clean and the breakfast spread was amazing. The location is very central. And there is just something kind of cool about staying on a boat. I absolutely recommend this hotel.
This ship is located in 'the best' location. It is walkable to everywhere in a beautifully cobbled area neighbouring Gamla Stan (old town). It feels super safe and very quiet. We really enjoyed the very varied breakfast serving both hot and cold. We stayed in bunk bedrooms which were very ample for a holiday that has so much to do. Beds were very comfortable, clean and fresh, clean towels available everyday and the shower was great. Plenty of storage cupboards for two people. The staff were helpful and friendly. This ship will be even better in summer with all of the outside terraces. We enjoyed the view from our large porthole windows that were seaview of the residences on the hillside opposite. We watched the birds fishing for fish in the morning. The window has a pull down blackout blind. Unfortunately we had an outside light reflecting through it, but I had my sleep mask with me and it was fine. Water was provided, both still and sparkling in taps at the entrance to the boat. We were walking distance to e-scooter locations and loved whizzing around to the various museums and sights. We enjoyed some of the Irish bars as our stay coincided with the Rugby World Cup. O'Connells in Gamla Stan and The Auld Dub both had large screens, great food (the quantities were huge!) and both had live music to follow on. What an atmosphere! We would definitely stay again.
Perfect
The location is exceptional, cheap, clean, very comfy beds, water for free, decent breakfast and perfect service. I highly recommend it and I would gladly visit again. It's quiet and has lovely views.
Super stay, great reception staff, yum breakfast & an excellent location
Just staying at the boat was a unique experience. The hotel has excellent location, short distance from the center of Gamla Stan, comfortable walking distance from opera house, National Museum, boat departure sites, and shopping areas. The breakfasts are fabulous and available until 10 or 10:30 am.
A good, quirky hotel close to the major tourist destinations. Breakfast was amazing.
Excellent location
The location is excellent. Please note that this is a boat hotel. The room was good and clean. The beds were ok, but not especially comfortable. The breakfast was ok. The hotel has a parking lot right in front and the parking fee is very reasonable for the location. Overall we have enjoyed our stay!
Fantastic
Was so much better than expected. Was very clean. The breakfast was impressive. The outdoor space was lovely and it’s in a great location!
The location of this boat hotel is excellent in central district within walking distance of many dining and shopping.
Cozy experience of old Stockholm
Perfect location in old Stockholm, a short walk from the train station and five minute walk to the heart of the old town center. Great views, a perfect place to enjoy a glass of beer or wine on the top deck after a day of sightseeing. Excellent breakfast, too.
The location is the main reason I chose this hotel. The rooms are very small (this is a boat after all!), with mostly either single beds or bunk beds and I don't believe there is any A/C. It appears that renovations were done some time ago and it could benefit from some updating before long. The included breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices for most dietary tastes and requirements. Also, a prominantly displayed placard with the history of the boat, perhaps in or by the beautiful "library",would be beneficial to enhance and appreciate the historical experience and significance of this boat.
It’s a rather unique experience to be on an old luxury yacht. I expected the cramped quarters. Adored the breakfast buffet, location and ease of transport. But was disappointed by very poor amenities, very basic linens, no bathrobes, cheap single towel, no fridge, bulk soap and shampoos , no little luxury touches. It was all bear minimum like a cheap motel. But awesome setting
Fantastic location.
Fantastic location for walking round old town and waterfronts. Beautiful sunsets. Gorgeous old boat with wooden interior but with modern very comfortable facilities. Very clean. Lovely extensive breakfast buffet. Our only complaint was with noisy guests who were allowed to be noisy late at night and the sound travels on a boat.
Perfect location, docked at Gamla Stan. Excellent restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff
Great novelty factor staying on a converted yacht. Warm and welcoming. Excellent breakfast, good dining, staff very efficient.
Good location, small bed size
Positives: location, unique experience of staying on a boat, breakfast is fantastic. Negatives: be extremely careful when booking a room as the descriptions and photos on hotels.com do not accurately reflect the room. I booked a double room with bunk beds (plural) and there was a photo with this caption which showed two single bunk beds. When we arrived we had a large single bed and I was told that a room with the description and photo I had seen did not exist. This made it quite uncomfortable as my fiancé is 6ft2 and I had to sleep on the wall side of the bed. I did not sleep well and I would not recommend this room for two people you would need one room each to have a comfortable nights sleep. The bed also had a very soft and old mattes which was not comfortable. Expect it to be like a ship ie loud toilets and heavy doors and no sound proofing so if you are a light sleeper you will be woken in the night regularly. These are things I did not consider. The sauna is a good feature, however it felt poorly ventilated and in need of an update. Overall we had a good stay but I would not stay again in the room type I chose.
Ideally located minutes away from the historic centre of Gamla Stan (Old Stockholm) and within easy walking distance of all of the other attractions, such as museums and theme park, that you’ll want to see and visit. Also within easy walking distance if you arrive using the bus from Arlanda airport to Central bus station (Centralstation) the main transport terminal in Norrmalm at Vasagaten. The hotel is full of charm in its own right and it helps that all of the staff are friendly and willing to help. We arrived at about 1pm in the morning after a delayed flight and called to say as much, which was greeted with a “no problem,” response and “we’ll be waiting for you when you get here’” which they were. The buffet breakfast has a whole host of choice from cereal to cold meats to bacon and scrambled eggs as well as a whole host of other goodies in/between to feast on. You won’t go hungry! We booked the Christmas buffet which was fantastic and a great way to end our holiday. We booked into the Captain’s room which was clean and cosy with a near water level view across the water towards Sodermalm. The ship itself is moored in a nice quiet location just behind Riddarholmen Church. Can’t wait to go back!
Great location
Great hotel in Stockholm
Hotel is very well-located and clean, with a very nice atmosphere for a stay in Stockholm. Subway stations are very close and so is the old town and downtown areas. Boat does shake a little, especially in the morning when other boats are out and about, but it did not cause any trouble for me. Definitely would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Stockholm for a few days.
Excellent location, and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Cool hotel in heart of Stockholm
Had a great time, great hotel located in the centre of town, easy access to everywhere, with the metro located a very short walk away. Room was compact, but very nice, with great views out the window.
Shipped is docked and don't feel any movement (no worries for those who may experience sea sick). Within walking distance to downtown and other attractions. Breakfast is great though the rooms are smaller compared to other cruise ships.
Good
Cannot shower without getting toilet wet . Room smelled bad.
Very convenient location, unique property, excellent accommodation and breakfast, friendly and helpful staff
Charming boat!
The boat is super charming and the facilities are maintained well - our superior twin room actually felt pretty roomy compared to some of the reviews, and the ability to hang out on the deck, adjacent quiet waterfront with great views, use of the sauna, free cold water/sparkling water on tap, and free breakfast was fantastic.
Great breakfast and location, location but rooms are tiny
Ship hotel is located right by Stockholm’s city center. Everything is conveniently located near it. Breakfast is excellent with lots of things to choose from. Staff was able to assist in all that we asked for, such as how to reach Skansen by ferry and for booking a Taxi Pickup to the Airport for us.
Very well located
Great fun place to stay!
Absolutely loved staying at Mälardrottningen Hotel, Stockholm. Fun and quirky accommodation (on a boat!), good value (not expensive for what you were getting) and really close to the city center. Breakfast - super range of options, and a lovely place to sit, by the window on a boat with a view of the lake :) Loved that we could book out the sauna too.
Great location, great value
Marvellous Malardrottningen boat/hotel in Old Town
We stayed in the Owner’s Cabin with private balcony - it was superb. The staff were friendly & helpful, the breakfasts are plentiful & variety offered great & location of breakfast lovely. Location of the boat is fantastic, for a 5 min walk into Gamla Stan for huge range of restaurants & cafes/bars. Gamla Stan station opens you up to rest of areas, but we did a lot of walking around instead & got local ferry over to other islands. Stockholm itself is a wonderful city to visit - expensive, but very chilled & welcoming. Vasa Museum & boat trip round Archipelago highlights of trip.
Fantastic location and great staff!
A unique and cozy place to stay in the heart of Stockholm. I would stay again and again! ❤️
The one complaint that I have is that the noise from the water pipes kept me awake all night. The room was otherwise clean
The hotel itself was unique and overall an experience! Breakfast staff was great and food was delicious however the front desk was not that helpful during our stay in terms of explains things and assisting us when we asked questions.
Fantastic and quirky place to stay. Excellent location for exploring the city with short walk to metro (T) and approx 15 min walk to central station and main shopping area. Gamla Stan is approx 5 min walk. Breakfast selection was excellent and very good quality produce, friendly staff. If I ever return to the beautiful city of Stockholm I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, highly recommended and a great price. 👍🙂
Best place to visit the old Stockholm
Very good service Very good location Price is reasonable Breakfast is amazing What else can we ask for….
Very poor service
1-Customer service (reception)was aweful at the check-in. We got into a room(not the best and not the cleanest) to find out the toilet flush was not working. When we complained ,we were told there is an issue and someone is fixing it and her colleague forgot to say it at the check-in time!!!!5 seconds after we left, they burst out laughing!!!! 2-We received an email they day before that buffet breakfast is not available during September. We couldnt change booking because it was nonrefundable. Again at the ckeck-in, we were told the email was a mistake!
Perfect Stay
This floating hotel was absolutely amazing. From check in to check out. A+. I was able to check in early after a long flight and bus ride from the airport. The room was small, clean and everything you would have expected from this type of hotel. The hotel was great and not over priced like most. Your very close to Gamla Stan and youll be able to find food, bars, souvenir and nightlife options.
It was a novelty to stay on a ship. The location next to Gamla Stan and walking distance to Stockholm Central railway station. Excellent breakfast, friendly helpful staff.
Nice place to stay. Would definitely recommend to upgrade the room.
Very convenient location, Lovely view, Lovely and simple interior. Very helpful and friendly staff. If you have to have saunas and weight rooms and room service and a larger room go elsewhere but for friendly, simple accommodations with a feeling of historic luxury this was unbeatable
Very clean and great value..Staff excellent service and a very welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was very good with a good variety of dishes. I would visit again for the price
Really nice boat hotel very close to the centre and all the amenities. A real experience!! Room was small but expected, as it is a cabin in a boat! Bathroom was adequate for the space in the cabin but the shelf above the tiny sink needs to be moved, very difficult to manoeuvre around it! Staff friendly enough but could have been more forthcoming in giving us information about the services on the boat (where everything was located) and also more information on services outside the boat (where tram stops were, etc)

This is a unique stay in a fabulous city. The staff were kind and most accommodating. Of note (these are things to expect) that add to the charm of this stay. The yacht/boat is almost 100 years old, expect some normal wear. The renovations done recently have done well to update the setting. There is a lift for luggage. If you are in a party of 2 or more, don't lug your items up the gangway/walkway to reception. One person can check-in, while the other waits at the door immediately off the paved walkway, and bring the luggage through the door on ground level. There is going to be noise and light at night time, it's a city, you are staying on a boat that boasts over 50 rooms. Bring a sleeping masking and ear plugs. Those 2 items are crucial for travel regardless of your choice in lodging. The breakfast offerings were outstanding. The restaurant food was divine, as was the view to enjoy while dining. Another guest review complained about staff eating in the same location as the guests. How disheartening it is that someone could be bothered by such a thing. We were pleased to share our space with the staff. The location was a less then 10 minute walk from the commuter train stop at Gamla Stan. You can leave your luggage for free there before and after check-in/check-out. There are plenty of shops and eateries nearby. Bottomline, would stay again!
