Great location and beautiful hotel.
The location of the hotel was amazing. The hotel was beautiful. The bed was very very hard.
Excellent Thai original experience with superb service
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, conveniently located. Would definitely recommend.
Over rated hotel & priced
Staff was helpful only issue is the air conditioning is not cold enough
Amazing Boutique for First Time Travelers
What an amazing little hotel! This is a great place for first time visitors to Chiang Mai. Great location near plenty of shops. Food is great and room and service is even better. Will definitely be staying again in the future!
Lovely Hotel
Makkachiva was exactly what I wanted. Hotel was in the heart of the Old City but quiet and peaceful. Staff were lovely. Rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Location was fantastic, right down the street from the Sunday Night Market. Lots of restaurants nearby and easy to get around by tuk tuks.
Lovely boutique hotel, clean, colourful, excellent staff and very close to all attractions.
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel located in the heart of the Old city with very friendly staff. We checked in easily and were shown to our room. The hotel has a no-shoe policy so you remove your shoes in the lobby and they provide you with slip-ons to wear around the hotel. I loved how relaxing it is and the fact that it's located across the street from a temple adds to the ambience. The hotel is an art hotel and features beautiful artwork throughout as well as lanna reliefs in each room. It is conveniently located with shopping spots within walking distance and is down the block from the Sunday Night Market. You could easily use Grab or a tuk-tuk to visit the Night Market, which is also close by. One of the best aspects of this hotel is the breakfast! The menu is robust and delicious, and the serving is very generous and filling. I definitely recommend giving this hotel a try if you're spending time in Chiang Mai!
Lovely stay at MakkaChiva.
We really enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful spot. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff were especially helpful. Yard at the front desk really helped us out with mailing cards home and printing some bag tags.
Such peaceful and friendly environment. Walking distance to many places you wished to visit. Wonderful staffs.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast
The staff was warm and welcoming every time we came and went…. They were helpful with rides and information. It’s the perfect spot if you want to be in the heart of old town….
Great but not luxury
Great hotel. Pictures are a little better than it is. The location is great, the room is small, and the amenities just average. Shoes have to come off and average Thai-size slippers are available. The real deal is the breakfast. It is per menu but with menu choices and great quality. Would stay again.
Amazing hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai, best location near temples and main attractions. Staff super friendly and eager to help, really good cook to order breakfast. Definitely will come back and recommend.
Old time hotel
It is a okay hotel if you like the old way of we don't. But if you need to get back in time the hotel a 10
Excellent. I’m very impressed.
A beautiful hotel with a nice and cozy design. The room is super clean and smells good. The staffs were helpful and friendly. Good location and the breakfast was delicious too. Good value and highly recommended.
I love this hotel, it is well maintained and it's beautiful. The breakfast was really good. The staff were great, they were very friendly, helpful and very nice. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.
Loved it
Amazing location and staff. Will stay again.
Kind and cheerful staffs, clean and beautiful facility, Goood breakfast, convenient location. Everything was satisfactory for me. If you have a chance to stay, I recommend to take a room facing to the city side.
This is a beautiful hotel with a friendly, amazing staff.
The property from the entry way, to the courtyard, to the hallways, to the rooms is beautifully decorated and has such a peaceful feel. The staff is friendly and kind. The location is perfect. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Several tour companies pick up and drop off at the hotel. The Saturday Night Market starts right at the end of the street.
Amazing hotel! Absolutely loved everything about the experience at Makkachiva. The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. They helped us negotiate tours, rides to the airport and were available to answer all of our questions. Breakfast was included in our stay and the food was delicious. You have a choice of 8 or 9 Thai or western dishes. I ordered a different dish every morning and every time the food was so tasty. Great way to start the day before exploring! The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to markets, temples and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Very lovely staff. Beautiful hotel. Convenient location.
Room and service was excellent. Except water for shower. I got long hair and water not strong including not come out in the same way. It’s made me have to wash my hair quite long time.
eat stay Perfect location Amazing breakfasts Beautiful decor
Excellent facility with outstanding service. A family member misplaced her passport ( realized this at the airport ). Called the hotel — on the ball, found it in the bedsheets and promptly dispatched an employee on a scooter to bring it to the airport. Impressive and eternally grateful to this place and it’s staff
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
This hotel was very clean and well maintained. My son and I had a wonderful stay here. The staff was very helpful, they had a very good cooked to order breakfast, beautiful hotel, location was excellent for walking to many places. I can't wait to go back!
Our stay was great. Staff went over and beyond to provide excellent service. Gee was great, cheerful, courteous and always ready to help. Would definitely come back.
A Pleasant Surprise
I was not very impressed when I checked in late at night on a rainy day. But everything fell in place the next morning. The staff were always willing to help and we’re very courteous. I enjoyed a very pleasant stay.
It is a gorgeous property- very central in Chiang Mai. Everything was beautiful and soothing- like boutique hotel- except one tiny thing - there was nowhere to unpack our clothes. Otherwise I would highly recommend this hotel.
my new favourite hotel in Chiangmai
Will definitely stay here again. Beautiful, neat and in the centre
Small boutique hotel, location was amazing. Property was very nice and staff was amazing
Nice hotel
Really nice hotel, very clean, nice people
Service was excellent from check-in to check-out. Front desk was always very attentive and helpful. Room service was excellent. Great location and atmosphere. I definitely recommend it,
Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the old town. Reasonably priced. Comfortable room with good amenities. Very good breakfast. Can be a bit noisy as the walls are quite thin.
Disappointing
Not exactly what we were looking for, hotel does not have any facilities, no restaurant, no bar, no pool
Lovely place with a special charm
A comfortable boutique hotel with a very friendly attentive staff, good cooked to order breakfast
Better than expected, personal very kind and helpful. They showed us the city in a very useful map and gave us recommendations to where to go and eat.
Cleanliness of the room is okay but except the bathroom. Once you bathing, the water is coming out. The reception expected more friendly and helpful. Hotel air-conditioning is good. Breakfast is delicious. The room is quiet. Great location.
Would stay there again
Excellent stay, grate location in the old city.Very nice boutique hotel. Missing a pool or/and fitness room, if you want to relax in the hotel. Some issues with the WiFi, but in general working fine.
Great stay! The hotel was super cute, staff were helpful, enjoyed the breakfast.
The Hotel is very authentic and that’s the feel we were looking for. Beautifully decorated, spacious rooms and very quiet. Location was perfect for everything we wanted to see and the people at the Hotel were so helpful with ideas, excursions, taxis, etc... I would definitely go back and recommend this Hotel to anyone looking to visit Chiang Mai
A well decorated, clean and friendly hotel. It was designed to give you a feeling of tranquility. The location is also great.
Stay here
Makkachiva was the perfect first stop on our trip to Thailand and they set the bar high. The atrium/lobby was breathtaking - I could have spent all day there. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Gee who helped us book our transportation to Pai and navigate the city. There are a few review about the beds being firm. In my opinion, they are firm but not u comfortable. I’ve been having some back problems and they were exactly what I needed to start feeling better!
Great little boutique hotel
Great little boutique hotel. Service was great, staff super friendly. Great location right next to the start of the Sunday night market. I would have given 5 stars, but the bed was really firm and impacted my sleep. Overall, great boutique hotel and I would highly recommend.
It is a boutique property that has been designed to make one feel at home in a modern Thai environment. It has both a lovely ambiance and amazing staff.
You have to be very fussy not to give a 5 stars to this place! Perfect location, amazing staff, gorgeous place and comfy room and bed! The breakfast is different from what you find on other places, but still amazing! Sure will be staying here again!
Great location and service
Amazing hotel with great service all round and delicious breakfast. Within walking distance to many attractions. Only downside - it can get a little noisy as rooms are close together.
THE place to stay in Chiangmai
This is a superb hotel which combines modern comfort with traditional Thai architecture, culture and decor. To take just one example, guests are expected to remove outdoor shoes in the lobby and wear slippers within the hotel - a typical Thai procedure. The location is very convenient in the centre of the old walled city with many good restaurants nearby. Recommended without hesitation - you will not be disappointed.
The stay was great because of the staff, they were always helpful and friendly. The lady serving breakfast is wonderful.
The ambiance is amazing, as is the service!
We love to return to our favorite Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai! The ambiance is amazing, as is the service.
Excellent location just down the street from a major temple and within the old city. Excellent service- extremely attentive and helpful and with the wonderful Thai reserve-not pushy or intrusive. The hotel atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable with the open central atrium.
Super friendly staff Clean gorgeous room and entrance
Beautiful, quiet hotel with helpful, attentive staff. A member of staff was particularly kind in using her personal Grab account (the local Uber) to book a ride to the airport for me as it was quicker and less expensive than a taxi. Especially enjoyed the local artwork on display, which was like having a small fine art gallery on the premises, adding a lot of aesthetic appeal. The overall decor was tasteful and tranquil, the perfect combination of convenient location while still having a private, tucked away feeling for a truly restful stay. Highly recommended!
A gorgeous hotel and incredibly inexpensive. Great location in the middle of old city.
Extremely friendly staff. They all went the extra mile in customer service! Wish I had more days in Chiang Mai.
Steps away from night market.. if i return one day, there is the place i will stay even for the second time. Great breakfast options, super clean with a heartwarming staff .
Nicely situated helpful staff breakfast good can ask for meals outside menus provided
Loved my stay
This was gorgeous. There isn't a pool, but it is private, quiet, exceptionally clean and beautiful. The breakfast is exquisite. I had an amazing time, excellent service.
Lovely hotel with wonderful staff
This is a great property in a good location. Our stay was excellent and the staff were able to cater our whims. The only sort-of downside I would give is that the rooms aren't that big with room for only one chair in our room besides the enormous bed. That is fine as you don't go to Chiang Mai to hang out in a hotel room. Also would suggest that the hotel open up the breakfast area for coffee/tea/beer/cocktails in the afternoon and early evening.
Enjoyable Stay
Convenient location, excellent breakfast choices. We asked for a knife and plate to cut our fruits at night. Staff surprised us by helping us cut the fruits. Pressure of the shower head can be improved. Overall was a good stay!
Nice boutique hotel in old city
This hotel is modern with a great contemporary Thai design. The rooms are spacious with a good shower, bed and aircon. I had a room on the road, however, this wasn't noisy and I also got to look straight onto the small temple across the street. Breakfast was big and great variety for all tastes. Staff were all very helpful and easy to get to the airport by taxi.
Charming traditional Thai hotel central location
I loved staying at this small traditional Thai hotel with an airy central courtyard with a water fountain and plants. The halls and rooms are decorated with local art nicely curated by the owner. High marks for cleanliness, as guests remove their shoes upon entering the lobby, and cool tile floors are welcome on hot Thai days. Centrally located in Old City, directly across the street from a small temple and a couple blocks from one of the grander temples, Wat Chedi Luang. Breakfasts are a treat - one orders a hot meal from a menu rather than the typical buffet spread. The hotel fronts a busy street, though my room faced the back and was completely quiet. I stayed at both 4 and 5* hotels on this trip, and this 4* hotel beats the 5* resorts for its charm and authenticity.
Beautiful hotel in Chiang Mai Old City
From its architecture to its decor, this hotel is a true gem. We loved every minute of our stay here and would return here in a heartbeat; we actually extended our stay here an extra night because we enjoyed it so much! The room was clean and well stocked with all the necessary amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered at breakfast was delicious and prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. Overall, an amazing stay!
Loved the breakfast!
Had a great 2 nights stay at Makkachiva. Lovely hotel staffs. Delicious breakfast. One thing we found that could be improved was the noise from the cars. Our room was facing the main road, so that's probably why. Everything else was great. : )
Good location, looks like a family run hotel. All the staff seem to go that extra mile to make sure everything runs welll. Beautiful ambiance in the hotel. Will definitely stay here again
A little gem in Makkachiva
Everything is a ten except for the following, the bed which I find too hard and there is no closet.
Attention to every detail!
What a fantastic find! Totally intimate boutique hotel with the best service ever. Attention to every detail.
Comfortable and homely!
We stayed 5 nights at Makkachiva. The service is so hospitable and the intetior decor of the hotel is artistic yet simple and stunning. We loved the place and will come back again.
Cute, quiet, great location and staff
The hotel was one of our favorites in Thailand. It’s located right in the heart of the old city making it an easy walk to anywhere you need to go. Hotel itself was a beautiful quaint hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. It was perfect.
Amazing - most beautiful hotel. Incredibly nice and helpful staff. Would 100% stay here again.
Absolutely excellent
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff are so helpful. The front desk staff helped us on numerous occasions, making phone calls, giving us directions, etc. They also gave us a complimentary krathong to release for loi krathong. It is a more traditional Thai place so they ask that you do not wear shoes inside; they provide a cubby and slippers for you. All the outlets can be used with standard Thai plugs or with American plugs (though note that the voltage is still different, so only used American items that can handle 240V). The breakfast is also quite good; the options include Thai, western, and a few combo meals. The location was excellent. As it's a newer hotel, many drivers did not know it by name, but the hotel does provide a card with the address in both English and Thai to show drivers. Additionally, you can tell your drivers to go to Wat Chang Taem (right across the street) or Wat Chedi Luang (the more famous one just a ways down the block).
Wonderful boutique hotel. Form exceeds function
Such a beautifully designed small hotel. Picture perfect in almost every way. Only criticism is that the designer had a little too much fun planning this hotel. Perfect visually, but the rooms are not well thought out functionally. Few places to place unpacked clothing. And all the furniture has faux drawers. Would help to have made them REAL drawers. Perhaps the designer needs to stay in more hotels him/herself. Otherwise a great central place to stay in Chiang Mai.
Great location great service great hotel
Me and my partner stayed at makkachiva for 3 nights. The location of this hotel was great as it was in the old town of the city and everywhere within the square was accessible by foot or taxi if feeling lazy. There was many places local to eat, shop, massages etc. If you are staying over a weekend the Sunday market that is huge is 5 mins walk away. The room was nicely decorated and finished, the bathroom also and it was kept clean. The hotel itself was very nicely decorated a great boutique style hotel without all the fancy stuff of larger hotels such as pools and gyms etc. However service is amazing and mini bar was free for use in our room. The hotel staff were friendly and were very helpful with arrange outdoor activities by calling the local companies for us. The breakfast every morning was very authentic Thai and had a few western dishes on the menu. Personally I would of liked a bit more western foods on the menu as eating Thai food everyday became too much. However that's just my personal opinion. If you want the full Thai experience daily for breakfast then this place definitely ticks that box. I would definitely reccomend this place to anybody visiting Chiangmai and if back in town again I would stay here again no doubt.
Great hotel
Great location. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfast!!
New Boutique Hotel
Nice boutique hotel in a good part of Chiang Mai.
Faulty lights
Generally good except the room we in have 2 faulty lights which doesn't turn off/on. Need to call 4 assistance from hotel people to reset the room card each time it doesn't work
Strongly recommended!
Great new boutique hotel in the heart of the Old City. We had an enjoyable and memorable 4-nights stay for our honeymoon. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautifully designed interior. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the service was great! Highly recommended!
Minimal but nice
Makkachiva has a beautiful aesthetic, friendly and observant staff, and in a great location. It's right at the stat of the Sunday Market, so that was perfect for us and we were able to walk everywhere from here. The price was so so. It could have been slightly less considering there weren't any ammenities. If you are looking for a hotel with room service, pool, restaurant etc...this wouldn't be the place for you. Breakfast is included, free water and sodas and that is all. There is no restaurant, bar, etc. We didn't need that for Chiang Mai, so we were satisfied. The staff all remembered our names and when they didn't have Equal for our coffee the first morning, they went and bought some so it was avaialable to us the following. So, they were attentive with the little details to like that. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
Like being in a Thai home
This was a great little boutiques hotel in the heart of the Old City. The location is fantastic and close to many restaurants, cafes, retail stores, temples, etc. The decor is so tastefully done; there is art in every nook. The ambiance is like being in a Thai home filled with modern and traditional Asian and Thai art. Loved the interior decor! They serve breakfast in sets, not as a buffet. They offer abouto 10 different set breakfast meals, some typical Thai, and some typical American fare. We always opted from the Thai breakfast and they were delicious. The staff was very helpful but we are low-maintenance travellers. They providedon't complimentary bottled water during your stay, as well as sodas. No alcohol in the mini bar. The room was adequate sized for two but definitely smaller than your average American hotel room. Over, we recommend this hotel!
Amazing hotel. Amazing staff. Great breakfast. Great location. If I could give it an 11 out of 10 I would.
excellent
I loved the whole atmoshere of it: staff helped always, were at hand but never too much; traditional interior with many artwork around selected perfectly in balance - not too much but enough to grab your attention. location is perfect too: a walking market is just around the corner on sundays, near great places to eat, easy to access. I would go there anytime and would recommend to anyone.
Great new boutique hotel, perfect location.
Great new boutique hotel, perfect location. Beautiful design.
Nicely designed hotel with impressive breakfast!
Nicely designed hotel with impressive breakfast! Nice and clean room. Helpful staff. Good location. and surprisingly good breakfast. Resonable price. We will stay here for next time!
A very amazing experience. We really like the experience of staying here. We will definitely consider staying here next time we travel to Chiang Mai.
Nice environment, convenient location, delicious breakfast
2回目ですが、前回同様に立地、スタッフの対応に満足しました。
Otimo
If you are looking for a perfect spot to spend time in Chaing Mai…this is it! The hotel is so beautiful and peaceful located in the heart of the city. The staff were wonderful and made our stay so enjoyable- the breakfast was amazing with a large variety of choices, the location allows you access to temples, restaurants, shopping and bars without needing a taxi as it is all walkable. We loved our stay and will come back here next time.
