In a residential area. Not at all up to standard of a boutique hotel. Room was very hot, air on was not working properly and was leaking water. Balcony had knee high weed growing between the tiles. Very over rated and expensive . Grass uncut and unkept. Not a nice stay at all. Not good value at all

Disappointing stay

My stay was disappointing and a let down. I arrived at 2pm (check -in as stated on the booking), my room was not ready until 2.45pm. My room was up a flight of stairs - with no handrail - wall on one side and glass panels on the other. My error was not requesting a ground floor unit as I currently require a walking stick for support. It was 33 degrees outside, the aircon in my room was old and could not cool the room down. The labels on many of the light switches are peeling off or non existent. One of the bedside lights had no light bulb, the other bedside light came off the wall in my hand. The TV remote did not work (I'm sure it needs new batteries), so I could not turn it off at night. The Bathmats were worn through. The face cloths & shower mat were wet when I arrived. There were only 2 - 3pin plugs in the room - no 2 pin nor USB ports. The basin taps are connected incorrectly - red =cold, blue = hot. The restaurant closes at 4.30pm - no food available after then. Breakfast served from 7.30am. Grass cutting outside the room starts around 6.30am (no sleeping in). Apparently the guest house is up for sale, therefore no maintenance being done. I completed the maintenance request form in my room (no pen supplied), but not convinced it will be completed.

This small boutique hotel we amazing. The staff was even more amazing. Very helpful and accommodating! Coletta and Roland were the best. Will be back again!!

We had a beautiful room with a private pool. It was very big and comfortable. The pool and spa area was lovely and the food was excellent. It is in a quiet part of town, easy drive to everything, but not walkable. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.

Everything was wonderful!

The service and staff are very pleasant and very accommodating. The breakfast is amazing - fresh and so many choices. Excellent coffee. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The room was well appointed and quiet. Only downside, sauna wasn't working.

worst honeymoon stay

This was our second night of honeymoon. We stayed at another 5 star hotel on our first night and there really is no comparison. There was no honeymoon feel. We had the worst experience staying at this hotel. It is definitely not 5 star as advertised. The hotel is understaffed. We had to carry our own luggage, yet other guests were offered this service. Took ages to get service at the bar. Wifi didn’t work in the rooms. Property not as good as the pictures. Very disappointed won’t recommend and won’t stay here again.

Not sure I would recommend it

Nice place but in need of serious refurbishment. The room is in need of serious repainting and replacement of curtains and upholster of lamps, bed and wall papaer. The place is more of a complex of flats reviewed as hotel but it has not a luxury feeling. The dining room feels as they just thrown chairs and tables and there is a lack of personality

Very relaxing

Lovely place in quiet, residential area, great spa facilities. Very attentive and helpful staff. The only thing I would have changed is the wooden floor in the showers - it smells as it’s probably rotten underneath- but this in no way hindered our very relaxing stay.

We LOVED this hotel! The place itself is beautifully designed, the staff were very friendly and helpful (they arranged a great wine tour for us last minute) and the breakfast was amazing (the best part!). Will stay again if we’re ever back in Stellenbosch.

People are very friendly, I felt so well welcome there. The room has a very comfy bed and is very spacious. We loved everything, from the street of the hotel to the decor, the staff and the wonderful food of Makaron Restaurant. It was perfect. We´ll definitely return there to spend more days.

Stylish rooms, excellent service, beautiful garden, you need a car/Uber to get around, as it is not directly in Stellenbosch town. The surroundings are really calm and pieceful, staff are very accomodating. We came from a party event in Cape Town and this hotel was perfect.

Great stay as part of our honeymoon

Boutique hotel in Stellenbosch, around 10 minutes drive from the shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was beautiful, a huge bed with a gorgeous bathroom to match and private balcony. Lovely gardens and sun bathing area. Indoor pool and a spa which we sadly didn’t have time to use. The food at the hotel surpassed expectations. We enjoyed a meal from the bar menu and had a delicious meal at Makaron. The staff are polite and attentive. The breakfast is excellent – I loved the fresh smoothies. Wifi was free but little slow. We will return.

Wonderful Stay

Wonderful two day stay. Extremely friendly and helpful reception staff and duty manager. I would highly recommend this hotel anytime! Loved the breakfast spread. The only downside was that my shower didn't drain quick enough and the WIFI quality was poor so let dropping.

a very special hidden gem

My husband and I spend out last two nights at Majeka House and couldn't have been been better taken care of. Majeka is a truly luxury boutique hotel - in a sea of copy cats, they are highly original. The design is super fun and every detail has been thought through. The food at Makaron - the in house restaurant - is some of the best in the country. And the wine selection is incredible (thanks Esmy). We had a room with a semi-private pool - super comfy and they think of everything. Service is super personal and warm, with everyone making you feel looked after at just the right moments. Can't wait to go back!

Love this little gem

We loved our stay at Majeka and wished it could have been longer. The rooms are gorgeous, the food is delicious and the people who work there are as nice as can be. We would love to come back and stay longer this time!

The Majeka House is a beautiful boutique hotel that will definitely impress any type of traveler. The staff are super friendly and so accommodating - they know your name after the first day. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. I was here for a business trip because I was unable to get booked in at the conference hotel - but I am so glad I found this gem of a hotel! I can't wait to come back and stay for a personal trip. The restaurant serves up some world class cuisine (and the chef is so accommodating!), and the breakfast each morning is to die for - don't miss it!! I highly recommend this hotel and will be waiting for my next trip to South Africa to visit again! Indulgence at its best!

Little Gem

We could not have asked for a nicer place to stay..virtually faultless in every way. The service was excellent and the whole place was really great. It's restaurant would justify a Michelin Star !!!

Relaxing and tranquil hotel near Stellenbosch

The Majeka was a lovely surprise at the end of our two week stay in South Africa. We had splurged a bit and it was well worth it! The staff at the hotel could have not have been more friendly and accommodating. Our room was lovely with a bed so comfortable that getting up in the morning was a challenge. The meals were great (breakfast, tapas, and dinner). The only potential downside is that it is a slight bit outside of town, so if you plan to go in and out of town often it may not be the best location. However it was perfectly suitable as a base for our wine tastings.

The room was dated with cold hard quarry tiles on floors & room air con didn't work properly. There was no patio service. Other facilities were satisfactory.

Great safe quiet location with friendly helpful st

Definitely recommended for corporate or personal. Wonderful rooms and the location near the highway but away from the congested core is perfect if you have a car. Nice to have a restaurant on site too.

Great staff and nice place.

We lliked our stay here. the place is very nice and value for money is good. Description on Hotels.com is not updated and we were dissapointed to find only 1 and heated pool in our category of booking. Also washing machine and dryer is not in the rooms. Do not know if it is the owners description or hotels,com's description that is not up to date.

sehr schöne Hotelanlage

sehr schöne gepflegte Hotelanlage, schön dort im Grünen zu liegen. Leider war der Generator recht laut, was störend ist, ebenso die Stromabschaltung ab 22h gesamte Hotelanlage komplett finster. Man muss halt früher ins Bett. Frühstück gut, Bufett sehr übersichtlich

Een warm welkom onder het genot van een cakje en thee. Super mooi ingerichte kamer. Helaas ivm regen geen gebruik kunnen maken van de mooi tuin. Ook heerlijk gegeten in het bijbehorende restaurant. Nog nooit zo'n uitgebreid ontbijt ontvangen. Komen hier graag nog eens terug.
