Very cute property and good value for the money but property is about tired. Mildewed walls, room was dusty even though they had just reopened after being closed for Tet (we know because our first booking was cancelled with short notice even though I booked far in advance because I know Tet is very busy. Staff are lovely and breakfast was very nice. Good location in Old Quarter.
The staff at this hotel are all lovely. There was construction beside the hotel and it woke me up every morning at 6:30am. Walls are paper thin so I could hear everything. Wouldn’t stay here again. You get what you pay for.
The staff were absolutely amazing. I was checking in late and staff from the hotel reached out to make sure I could find my way. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is very hard to find- tucked into an alley without obvious signs.
The location is excellent and everything is close by. The staff are kind and helpful. The rooms are comfortable.
We have just spent three nights at the Maison D’Orient. We really enjoyed the style of the building itself and it had been decorated and designed with authentic paintings and furniture which made for an artistic and relaxed vibe. Our room was a generous size with a small balcony overlooking the street and the en-suite bathroom was roomy too. The staff were superb, everyone was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Michael organised a day trip to Ninh Binh for us at short notice very efficiently and at a good price. Breakfast everyday was fantastic, a good choice of fresh fruit; there was also a choice of eggs every morning which were cooked on the spot for us. The location was not that easy to find but it was nice and tucked away. We particularly wanted to be in the heart of the Old Quarter so that we could experience the Vietnamese way of life and everything we wanted to see was in easy reach. You will see that I have given three stars for cleanliness which was probably not the fault of the hotel as there were building works next door during our stay. Overall we felt it was a magical find and a great start to our adventure. Helen and Nigel
The hotel itself is alright but we were shocked by the staff. We unfortunately stayed there during Typhoon Yagi, unable to leave the hotel as it was too dangerous and the airport was shut so we couldn’t fly home. We couldn’t go out to buy food so we asked at the hotel if they had anything we could eat (we knew they were cooking lunch and dinner for some other guests!) and they said no! We asked for at least some toast and butter (there was a big bread basket for breakfast). They wouldn’t even give us bread! Reception girl had to go away and calculate how much to charge us for 2 pieces of toast!! And all this when they cooked full meals for other guests and agreed with us that it’s extremely dangerous to go outside. They wouldn’t even offer us water!! This is such lack of sympathy when you’ve got stranded tourists unable to leave the hotel or the country, we were shocked.
Great location in a building with character. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
Hotel is quite hard to find—it’s off a side alley of a side alley. Room was big and well decorated. Staff were helpful and breakfast was really good. Location is great near Hoàn Kiếm lake. Would recommend.
Lovely stay
We loved our stay in Maison d’Orient. The location is ideal- while in the middle of the old quarter, it is located in a pedestrian street far from the traffic noise. However, the construction of a building next door and the crazy working hours (10pm-3am) will not let you sleep unless you go out late. The breakfast was outstanding! Best breakfast in our trip this far. The rooms are lovely- well decorated, spacious and comfortable. It was very clean and the staff was welcoming and nice.
Absolutely adorable, and very nice and helpful staff
De mensen zijn erg vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam
I had a very comfortable 5 night stay in this hotel, which is full of character. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. It was a pleasure to come back here after a day of sightseeing. The hotel provides a good breakfast to start the day. For meals during the rest of the day, there are a whole range of cafes and other places to eat within easy walking distance. As the hotel is situated at the end of a small alleyway, it is not easy to access with a vehicle. However, the driver of my transfer from the airport left his car briefly on the nearest street and kindly guided me in the right direction. The hotel is on WhatsApp, so I assume you can contact them this way when you're nearby. The hotel is very conveniently located for Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter and the Jump On/Jump Off sightseeing bus. I felt it was an ideal location for a first visit to Hanoi. I would be happy to stay there again on a future visit.
The staff was outstanding, excellent breakfast and value for money for this stay… not fancy but delightful and convenient.
HANOI 24
Amazing petite boutique hotel at end of narrow alley. Short walk down two alleys to main road and insanity. As close as you are you can hear nothing but calm day & night. All staff from front desk management to breakfast staff & housekeeping are friendly & helpful. A big shout out to manager Mien for helping us get a shuttle to our next destination after a scheduled transport fell through. Highly recommend.
Lovely place to stay. Very quiet and close to major attractions. Impeccable service from people at the front desk. Thank you.
On a quiet street nearby the best parts of Hanoi center. Staff was warm and top notch. Room was nice, big space. It can be cold in the winter
As soon as we arrived we were so glad we chose Maison, from the warm welcome to the local advice, accommodating our early arrival and later helping us make new travel plans because of bad weather in central Vietnam. We loved our stay here not only because of all of the above but also because of the lovely homely feel to the hotel, very convenient location to see all the sights and great options for food and drink nearby, yet still remaining quiet and calm later in the evenings. We would absolutely stay at Maison again.. in fact we already did! Thank you to everyone at Maison d’Orient for helping us have an enjoyable trip to Vietnam.
Loved this place. Great rooms - comfortableand not generic, excellent location and incredibly helpful staff. Also good breakfast. Proper boutique
The property is very clean and quiet, and the rooms are comfortable. The highlight of this hotel is the friendly and helpful staff - you will feel very welcome when you are here.
Fantastic old fashioned hospitality! I loved my room on the 4th floor despite the many steps. It was fun actually. The staff is excellent and super helpful. My only half complaint is that the shower wall in my room (402) needed repair. Otherwise excellent stay
My second time bcz it deserves it
I was in thins hotel before and I came back to it because its Very clean comparing to other hotels in Hanoi. Its quite. It has windos and NOT moley like other hotels. And the people and the service, breakfasl are really good and nice.
Clean and locate in the middle of city but this hotel don't have elevator and Ginger room is on 6th floor.
What a beautiful little hotel tucked down a quiet alleyway in Hanoi. The hotel is very charming with period detail and decorated with colour and character. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and assisted with any help we needed, such as a taxi to the airport, restaurant recommendations, and leaving our bags while we left Hanoi for a couple of days. Breakfast was delicious with eggs cooked to order, beautiful local jams and fresh fruit. TV also had lots of English language choices which was nice when you need to collapse after walking the Hanoi streets all day! If you want to stay somewhere in Hanoi that has character and makes you feel very welcome, choose this hotel!
Great location, clean rooms. We stayed in two different rooms, the Lemongrass and the Ginger rooms. The Ginger room was great. The Lemonglass room was nice but does get noisy in the morning as it’s right above the kitchen.
The location is within walking distance of the busy markets, lake, and other tourist attractions. The room was big with a balcony that doesn't face the street so it was quiet in the evenings. The breakfast has a mix of typical Western foods and local. The staff is incredibly kind - Sales Manager Lan Anh is a great resource for things to do not only in Hanoi but also outside tours. Be sure to speak to her about any tour suggestions, dining, massages/spas, and activities. She'll go out of her way to make sure your stay is amazing.
Great Hotel in a Fantastic Location
My wife and I loved the extremely convenient location of the hotel and the room was exceptionally comfortable, especially considering the relatively low cost of the hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and provided some great information on things to do in the area. I would definitely plan on staying here again.
Thoughtful, Central, and good value
This is a lovely hotel in an amazing location - perfectly central yet quiet. Rooms and building have lots of thoughtful features, from a true tea pot in your room to tasteful design in the bathrooms and furnishings. Breakfast was fine, with fresh fruit options and good coffee, but standard / somewhat lackluster warm offerings. Everyone working here was lovely and helpful. Our only real complaint, and it is a major one, is that our room in the back had very bad WiFi throughout our two nights. Sometimes it worked flawlessly, sometimes it didn't work at all, and usually it was somewhere in between. If the WiFi is working as they attest it normally does then this is a unique, tasteful, quiet, well located hotel that represents excellent value. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Good location, excellent customer service and charming rooms.
Loved the staff and location! Great spot near everything in old quarter. Staff were lovely and super helpful with everything. The space was great and felt like home.
Decent place and good staff
Decent place in a tiny lane way. Very nice staff and good food. Worth the $$'s. Stairs were painful, but then again I guess thats part of the deal.
Great little hotel in central Hanoi
I stayed in the Maison d'Orient for the second time and liked it as much as the first time. The staff is friendly and helpful without being over the top. Check in was efficient, and our luggage was brought up to our room by the staff, which was fortunate as we had a room on the 5th floor (no lift). The room was simple but with all necessary mod cons, i.e. an efficient and quite A/C, shower with plenty of hot water, toilet, small balcony and a great view over the rooftops of the neighbourhood, a comfy bed, and a small fridge pre-stocked with water, some softdrinks and a few beers. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and there is a a choice of eggs (scrambled, omelette, fried, boiled) or a bowl of vietnamese broth and noodles, which is also very tasty. In addition to this there is of course coffee, tea, fresh watermelon juice, cakes, toast, etc. In other words, more than enough to get you started for the day. The location of the hotel is in a small alley, in the warren of small streets between the old quarter and the cathedral. It is (relatively) quite at night, apart from the odd cockerel making himself heard, and it is a great location as a starting point for exploring the city. As is usual in Vietnam, there is free wifi available in the lobby and the rooms. Can warmly recommend the place.
Fantastic location in boutique hotel
Great quiet location in the bustle of old town. Try for the top floor rooms, 501 and 502. Both have nice views from the small balcony and lovely light. No lift, however, so lots of stairs up to the 6th floor.
A friendly home from home.
All staff were so courteous & helpful. Really good location for the old quarter with excellent restaurants very close by. Enjoyed trying all the exotic fruits at breakfast & recommend the Hanoi soup!! Very comfortable bed & quiet room. We stayed in Anise on the top floor, the stairs kept us fit but they have a secret luggage lift.
Amazing staff and host, so friendly and helpful, great to have some English speaking help! Helped us arrange an onward trip and gave us lots of great advice as and when we needed it, very reasonable price to stay and no commission on top of helping you with onward train travel etc. Great food and coffee too! Comfortable room (we stayed in cinnamon) very large and great bathroom with very good shower! Would definitely stay again and gladly recommend.
Nice hotel in old quarter down quiet alleyway
Hanoi, crazy busy , crazy fun. Lots of lovely food.
It was a pleasant stay within this price range, staff were helpful, bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Great location as well. No complaints.
We loved Maison d’Orient. It is brilliantly located, central but quiet, and our room was charming. But the real plus is Michael, the manager of the hotel, who gave us great advice about where to go and eat, and allowed us to shower after our boat trip, although we had already checked out.
Quiet Oasis in noisy part of town
Helpful staff before and during the visit. Excellent value for the money. Michael Le was helpful and provided support on advance ticket purchases, reservations, transport to / from airport. Rooms were clean and comfortable. If you are booking more than one room we would suggest that you contact them directly after the booking. The rooms have a wide range of configurations and if you communicate in advance you will get the best options of what they offer vs. your needs.
Nice hotel in the middle of Hanoi
We stayed there for 5 nights spread out over 10 days. The hotel was already super helpful before we got there as they helped us organise transport to all the locations in Northern Vietnam we wanted to go. The rooms are cute and nicely decorated. The location is excellent, very central but still rather quite as located in a side street. The staff is very nice, helpful and friendly.
lovely place, quiet part of Old Quarter
Charming hotel with great character. Down an alley off of another alley, so very quiet but close to everything in the Old Quarter. Hotel staff went above and beyond to help me get taxis (even late at night). Will stay here on my next trip to Hanoi.
Peaceful spot in the heart of the Old Quartre
An excellent base for exploring Hanoi. Situated down a culdisac it’s far quieter than others close by the room was fine but no view but a close walk from the window. The staff were very friendly and helpful and sorted good options for onward travel for us.
Nice Hotel
Cute hotel and friendly staff. Slightly difficult to find because its down an alley, but the location allows for a more quite night. Large rooms, clean, and walking distance to a lot in the area.
Very comfortable and quiet despite the noise of Hanoi Attentive staff quite clean and good breakfeast
Lovely staff, very helpful.
The staff always greeted us when we came back from sight seeing and were very helpful. The motel was centrally located and very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Will stay here again on our next visit .
Friendly and helpfuk
The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is a trouble.
very nice small boutique hotel...
very friendly, professional staff good breakfast, very good location. would recommend and woukd stay again.
The hotel is really charming and the staff are exceptionally helpful. Perfect area to walk around hanoi.
Friendly small hotel with lovely decor
This is a lovely little hotel in the Old Quarter. We stayed in two rooms - before and after Halong Bay - and both were comfortable and clean. The Star Anise room on the top floor has a nice balcony. The management as very kind and helpful. They gave us advice on where to eat and where to get a haircut. We cancelled our last night because of a change in plans. Although it was too late for Expedia to give us a refund, the hotel offered us free taxi to the airport as compensation! Very kind. highly recommend.
Convienent and quiet hotel
Friendly, quite and the perfect location
Love this hotel
Everything was so great. small balcony, colorful room except AC (sorry). but i must come back!!!
We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is tucked away in a cul-de-sac in the backpackers area, making it very convenient to walk to most places. Surprisingly quiet and we were able to get good night sleeps without bring woken up by noise. Comfy beds. The bath leaked but straight after we left they started a week's work of repairs and refurbishment to get it ready for the high season. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They helped organised a private tour to the Perfume Pagoda, arranged transport to the airport and even took our luggage by motorbike to my next hotel around the corner.
Great place to stay
Great reasonably priced hotel in good location. It was close to everything but being down the end of a laneway it was very quiet, and comfortable.Micheal and the rest of the staff were friendly and very helpful.I booked 3 tours through them and i have no complaints about anything. They helped me organize my flight and accomadation in Hoi an also.
Excellent choice for Old Quarter, Hanoi
I stayed for two nights upon flying into Hanoi for vacation. It's a beautiful and quaint hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. The location may be a bit difficult to find at first but they came to greet me as I got out of my taxi on the main street around the corner. It's down a small alley away from the busy streets, which is very nice. The hotel and room are very lovely. My room was spacious with a cute balcony and nice bathroom. The breakfast, with fruits, coffee and choice of egg or soup was delicious and satisfying. I would definitely stay there again while visiting Hanoi.
My first choice in Hanoi
Good stay in Hanoi. Hotel staff were great and spoke good English. Located in an alley off an alley but quiet and comfortable. Windows looked out onto concrete wall 2feet away, was the only downside. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely and friendly boutique hotel
Maison d'Orient is by far the best small hotel I've stayed at in a long time! Tucked away at the end of a quiet street off a bustling strip, the hotel is walking distance to all the sights and great food and shopping. After a day in Hanoi's hectic traffic, it's simply a lovely place to come back to. I stayed in Ginger, with a great balcony, and Lemongrass—both are simple but well designed and stylish, and very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. Wifi works everywhere. Staff were incredibly friendly and helped me book a few tours and transportation. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Hanoi! I hope to go back soon.
Love this place
Great breakfast, great welcome, great room.
Great Location, Great Staff, Great Value
My wife and I came to Hanoi for our honeymoon and loved Hanoi. The Maison D'Orient is tucked away in the bustling Old Quarter of Hanoi and provides a reprieve from the chaos of street vendors, motor bikes, and people. It is a great value with terrific staff, very clean rooms, and a great location. The rooms do not have room safes, but the front desk will happily lock up your passports or any other valuables. We didn't ask a lot from the staff, however, at our request, they took care of transportation from and to the airport for us and provided some basic guidance on where to go and a map of Hanoi. We stayed at very basic accommodations and 5 star hotels during our 3 week trip and the Maison d'Orient is just a solid hotel that gives you a reprieve when you need it, a comfortable place to get some sleep. I recommend the "Ginger" room (we stayed in 501) and it had a great view. We also ducked our heads into a couple other rooms that looked nice as well. If you are wanting to come to Hanoi to see the city, and want a great location and great value, this place is for you. If you are looking to camp out in your room and are accustomed to extreme luxury, then maybe look elsewhere; but even you might enjoy the Maison d'Orient!
Excellent hotel for price
Great hotel with lovely rooms and very comfortable beds. In a great location, very central with access to many restaurants, bars and good coffee Very good value for money
Clean
Clean and nice nothing fancy. All we wanted. We stayed for just one night but might come back again later.
Visit to Hanoi
we really enjoyed our stay in Hanoi. The hotel was a little difficult to find but was in a great location near the old quarter. The rooms were basic but we did nt need anything else. Breakfast was very nice and fresh. The staff were excellent and very friendly making some very good recommendations for restaurants and visits. Would stay again.
Beautiful boutique hotel, fantastic location.
This was one of the nicest stops on our tour of Vietnam. Lovely rooms, tastefully decorated and very comfy bed. Small hotel with very personal service, which we enjoyed, and a good breakfast too. Within walking distance of the old town and around the lake. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere a bit special to stay in Hanoi.
Great little stay
Lovely few days here. Friendly helpful staff. Hotel located close to the old quarter and lake. Nice choice for breakfast. Good value
Nice location, friendly staff
Très bien.
Accueil très aimable en français de surcroît. Chambre de belle dimension. Petit déjeuner copieux.
Very nice place to stay in busy city of Hanoi, located in a quit alley of Old Quarter. Staff is very helpful and kind. We will recommend this to others and definitely come back as visiting Vietnam for a second time.
Although there were some issues this time, the staff were very kind and I was able to stay comfortably. This was my third time staying here, and I would like to continue using it in the future.

Great loacation. Everything worked. Helpful staff.
Tiny hotel located in an alley off of an alley - hard to find initially. Excellent location. Helpful staff. Clean room. No elevator. OK breakfast was included. Everything worked: hot water, AC, WiFi. No complaints. Would consider staying here again.
